Pretty soon the mines weren't going to have anything left, she figured with a grim look on her face as she dug. It wasn't like it was going to happen anytime soon, or at least she hoped, but sooner than she would want at the moment. Maybe, maybe not, but she didn't like the thought of the mines running out of stuff for them to find at the moment. Giving a sigh, she continued to dig in the dirt before coming across something a little shiny. Both she and the halfbreed paused in their digging for a moment, Grim shoving his head into the hole to sniff at it for a moment before turning back to his own hole and beginning to dig again. Jack chuckled, must not be too impressive then, she figured as she picked up the chunk and turned it over. She grabbed her brush again and brushed it off, trying to figure out what it was.

A chunk of silver finally came into her hands as she brushed the dirt away from it. A chuckle came from her throat, to the surprise of the halfbreed next to her. She had so much silver she barely knew what to do with it, and now here was even more. Oh well, it was nice to stock up in case the Workshop ever opened again, but for now she wasn't sure what to do about things just yet. Huh, at least it was something though, not just another dead end with the mining at the moment. Jack smiled a little and put the chunk of silver into the wagon with the other stones for now and then went back to work with the shovel. Something else really good had to be there of course, but she just didn't know what it was going to be for the moment. OH well, she could figure it out when she found it.

...What- IS that? It falls from the ceiling of the cave, and nearly on to something! [36-40]

One more stone, that was all he asked for before he decided to move to a different spot. While the woman was hurting, he knew she wouldn't mind moving if it meant finding more stones, perhaps even more crystals, it would be nice to find something every now and then instead of long pauses where they didn't find anything. Grim dug through the wall a little more and finally a bigger rock came tumbling out and rolled across to the other side of the tunnel. He paused and sniffed the air, making Jack give him a puzzled look. Ignoring it, Grim trotted over to the rock and pawed at it once before bobbing his head, taking it in his jaws, and bringing it back to the woman. It was something, he knew it had to be, there was no other explanation for it after all. Jack smiled a little and patted him on the head after taking the rock and putting the shovel back into the wagon, she knew his plan, or at least she thought she did.

The shovel had gone back into the wagon, but the brush had come out once more. The dirt on the stone was loose, so she had opted not to use the hammer and chisel, which worked out because she thought if she sat down, she wasn't going to be getting back up again. Which was fine, but she knew Grim wanted to go somewhere else, she knew that expression, and he kept looking further into the mines, a clear indication he was done with this area. She worked the dirt off of the stone slowly so she didn't scratch it too badly, and was pleased to find a rhodonite inside of the dirt. A simple enough stone, it was still rather pretty when it was cut, she didn't know what else to do with it at the moment aside from put it into her wagon though, the Workshop still wasn't open, she would sort these out when they got home.

Jack let the stone tumble into the bag holding everything else aside from the pure crystal. She was excited about this trip so far, they had found a few pretty good things, especially the crystal, and now she just hoped they would be able to find some fire crystals soon enough so she could make her new node. It was an obsession, but she knew her history with it and knew she had to get it done if she was going to amount to anything. It was her heritage, after all, and she needed to explore it as best as she could. Having no innate magic herself, the nodes were her next best option. Jack patted Grim on the head and then nodded down further into the tunnel, letting him know it was alright to continue on, she would be right behind him with the wagon. Grim chuffed and headed on in again, wondering where they would be stopped this time.

Grim started down the tunnel, nose to the ground though his eyes were up and searching. Doing this both ways worked out quite well for him, he figured, as sometimes his nose or his eyes missed something. Sometimes he inspected the walls a little more carefully than the ground, sometimes he would lick as well, just to see what the mineral composition was made of, but other than that, he walked and walked, listening to the woman pulling the cart behind him. He was sure she was keeping up with him, but he paused every now and then to make sure she was still there no matter what happened. Jack smiled a little bit and wondered what he was going to do about things at the moment as he paused to let her catch up. What was she going to do about him sometimes? It was going to be fun at least, she knew that.

His veins were beginning to tingle again, somehow, and he paused for a moment to see if he could pinpoint where it was coming from. He'd had luck with this sort of thing already, how did this keep happening? Usually they only found one good thing like that and then they left, but they had found the crystal so early they didn't have much of a choice to stay and all that. Grim narrowed his eyes, the stones of his brow furrowing for just a bit before he decided to dig right where he was. The woman stood behind him, confused, and wondered what he was going to do about things for now. Jack shrugged finally as he continued to dig and then grabbed her shovel so she could start her own hole. It was almost a race to see who could get the most stuff found, and the first of it found before the other could.

Two holes hid a particular gem in it; one a deep blue and the other a pearly blue. How strange! [41-45]

Jack continued to dig in the hole she was making until she hit something with a bit of a louder thunk to it. She smiled a little bit and reached down into the hole, using the shovel as a support so she didn't fall over, and picked up the chunk. It was nice and big and she had a feeling she knew what it was, but almost wished it wasn't what she thought. If it was, they were pretty stones, but they were so hard to cut and deal with, it was like a diamond in strength. Closing her eyes for a moment, she brushed off some of the dirt, and then sunk when she opened them again. Alaxandrite was rough to work with, but worth it in the end, and at least it cost quite a bit whenever she sold it. Still though, with a heavy look to Grim, she put the stone with the rest and then continued shoveling.

Ah well, at least it was a stone and something else to take home with her for now, she figured with a little smile on her face. They'd had a pretty decent haul at this point, she thought with a little chuckle, and she shook her head a bit to try and figure out what she was going to do with this stuff. Jack stretched her neck out a bit and then started using the shovel on the dirt again, right next to where Grim was digging as well. Things were looking up, they were getting deep enough that it was warm and her leg was feeling better, always a good thing, so she figured if they moved again it would be easier for her to keep up with him now. Grim was just happy things were looking up for them a bit, he thought as he dug, still trying to find what made his veins buzz.

Whatever was making his veins buzz was getting closer, or he was getting closer to it at least. He chuffed a little to himself and wondered what he was going to be able to do at the moment, whether he could find it or not. Sometimes whatever made his veins buzz didn't even appear, maybe it was a fluke or something, but he didn't think that was happening now. It was getting stronger, and when something popped out of the dirt of his hole, he got excited for just a moment before huffing and nudging it toward the woman. Jack chuckled, he was getting restless, she knew it, but at least he was getting some digging out of his system at the moment. That had to count for something, she figured with a little smile on her face. Still though, she would need to figure out what this stone was, she thought as Grim furiously dug in the ground next to her.

Jack reached down, once again using the shovel to balance herself, and picked up the big rock he had dug out and pushed toward her. She looked it over a little bit and saw there wasn't much dirt on it, it was just a naturally dark stone it looked like. Was it an onyx? Tilting her head, she blew and rubbed the dirt off of it and then held it up to the light. Once she saw what it was, she was extremely excited! She absolutely loved starstones, they were amazing and they just looked so good in jewelry. A grin crossed her face as she rubbed her thumb over it for a moment or two before reluctantly putting it with the rest of the stones, she had work to do, she could fawn over the stone later on in the day after they got home. For now though, she was starting to get hungry, definitely thirsty.

Jack dug a few things out of the wagon and then plopped down against the wall of the mines a little way away from Grim for the moment so he didn't shovel a bunch of dirt and rocks into her food. She figured that would just be her luck, wouldn't it? Giving a little sigh, she tore into the energy giving jerky and dried fruit, drinking from her flask as she did to. A tilt of her head, and she grabbed the bowl from the wagon and filled it with a bit of water before setting it out for her halfbreed and then leaned her head against the wall again. It was a nice day outside of the mines, that was true, but sometimes you just needed to head inside sometimes, especially if you could find gems and the like. Jack chuckled a little and then watched as Grim paused long enough for a small drink, before furiously digging again, intent on finding something.

What is this thing? It seems that something very neat was found, if only super dusty. [46-50]
