Well... it works. The karzik isn't quite fast enough to escape the swing, and makes an equally mournful sound as its friend when it hits the ground. It's... pitiful. At least you can move them out of the way now...
[Congratulations, you have successfully tamed(?) the creatures.]

It had been rough lately, so what was she doing here? She glanced around and then at the opening of the mine with a little sigh catching at the back of her throat, she didn't know what she was going to do at the moment, which was fine. Maybe it would be best to take this a little slower, maybe just... sit outside of the Kennel today, stay with herself and watch as people walked by, but people knew her, which was an issue in and of itself. As Jack chewed her bottom lip, she glanced down at the halfbreed with her and shook her head a little. Vary was ready to get back into the mines, a skittish little halfbreed, she was sure it would be hard to get her back into the Kennel a bit now that she was out. It was hard to do this the way she wanted to, so... here she was.

This was going to be rough, mainly because she didn't really know what she was looking for, if anything, or if she was really going to work at this or not. Sighing a little, she stared into the dark at the entrance of the tunnel and flinched for a moment. There wasn't much for her to do right now, she didn't know what she was going to get to at this point. What was she doing? Vary looked at her and narrowed her small eyes before clicking her mandibles and sliding into the shadows nearby. She was nervous but excited at the same time, she loved the mines, the cold, dark, damp places, the echoing caverns, even the drier dirt and such closer toward the entrance. There wasn't anything she could do but go in, and the woman would, maybe, follow. Something was off about her, had been for awhile, but maybe this is what was needed.

Jack groaned a little as the halfbreed popped back out of the shadows when she got into the tunnel, and looked back at her with a tilt of the head. Well... this was going to be rough she supposed, but wasn't sure what she needed to get done. What was she going to get going as of right now anyway? May as well keep going she figured and pulled lightly on the wagon a little, wondering what she was going to find, if anything, at this point. It wasn't completely guaranteed to find anything in the mines, ever, but it was kind of nice when she did. Of course having a halfbreed who did well in the mines helped out as well. Frowning, she wished she had something else she could focus on aside from her own failures at the moment, but nothing was coming to mind. All she could do was put one foot in front of the other right now though.

Trudging forward, she felt her heart pound too quickly and hard, it wasn't good, this was going to end so badly but she didn't know what else to do. Get herself out there, that's what she had to do, and Vary was good enough to come with her, right? Maybe it would have been better to bring Goran or Grim, but... she didn't know. Gulping, she felt herself waver a little as she followed the halfbreed who was slinking around in the darker areas of the entrance of the mines, she wasn't sure this was the best idea, but what else was she supposed to do? All she knew was that things weren't going to get better if she didn't try, and that was frightening as well. What was the point in being scared? She wasn't usually scared of anything, and there was nothing to worry about... right? This was stupid, she could get this done.

Jack pushed a hand through her hair and sighed a little as she felt her feet dragging a little behind her. She didn't know if this was so good to do, but that was... a different fear altogether. Vary wanted to keep going, but maybe that wasn't the smartest, she didn't want to be caught down in the middle of the mines without an easy way out just in case she had some issue. There wasn't a port stone on her, or maybe there was, she really didn't know right now, it wasn't something she worried about usually. Chewing her lip, she hoped she was doing the right thing, though she wasn't sure if this was going to work out too well either way. Vary knew what was going to happen, she supposed, but all she knew was that the woman needed to keep going if they were going to do this right. It was necessary.

The good thing about timing, is that it didn't always have to be perfect, it was something she tried to convince herself of her entire life. Whether she believed it or not, well, that was up for debate, and she would never tell the truth about it anyway. A little smile broke over her face as she stared at the entrance to the mines, there were so many memories down there at this point, it was kind of nice. So many stones and animals uncovered, including her beloved Goran, her gargoyle she had socketed so many years ago now. He seemed to be itching to get inside and get to work again, no one else would have been able to see it, but she could see the slightest little twitch of his tail, a fraction of a flick of his claw, a slight vibration to the glow that came from him thanks to the crystal within him.

It felt like they had been together forever, and that was probably the case at this point. She had discovered him in the mines not too long after coming to the Labs, and they had done so much sense then. She knew he loved her, but wouldn't ever show it, which was fine for her. There were ways he proved it without being too overt about it, it was kind of nice she thought with a little chuckle. "Alright, go on," Jack told him, her smile still on her face as she watched him ease off the ground and begin trotting into the dark depths of the mines. It was nice to be back, there were too many things going on and she wasn't too excited about that. She had been keeping to herself quite a bit again lately, though she wasn't entirely sure why that was at this point. Oh well, she had her reasons, or so she assumed.

Maybe she was upset about something, depressed even? Jack shrugged as she began to pull the cart behind her, trailing after the glowing form of Goran off in the distance. It was a good thing she had socketed him, she figured, it was easier to find him in the dark. A smirk crossed her face, it wasn't like he would let himself get too far away from her at this point though, if only for her benefit. There was no way he would come nuzzle up to her or anything, but he tolerated her a little better, than most anything else he knew, so she called that a win at this point. Jack pushed her hair back and looked around, taking in the meager sights of the entry to the mining tunnels. This place had been mined out a long time ago, there was no way she would find anything this close to the entrance anymore.

Things could be worse, she could still be sitting at the Kennel, staring into nothingness, but she had managed to actually get around to do something today, which was quite a nice change of pace. Smiling to herself, she watched as Goran continued at a steady pace in the distance, she just wished there was something more she could do, or at least more that she wanted to do. There was always something to do, but nothing really caught her eye right now, which was the main issue she was having. There just wasn't anything worth it out there anymore, at least that's how she felt right now. Jack sighed a little, she didn't know what she was going to do with herself, but it wasn't like she had anything better to do, or at least that's what she supposed. Giving a little shrug, she picked up her pace just a little to try and catch up with Goran.

He seemed to sense whenever she changed her pace, and Goran sped up just a little as well. He was on a mission and he didn't want to get distracted, he wanted to go as fast as he could at this point, which was only going to make things easier. If everything just went well enough, he wouldn't have to worry about much anymore, he liked being down here, and he just hoped that he could convince her to stay down in the mines for awhile this time, instead of instantly burning out and heading back home. The gargoyle shifted his eyes to the side a little to try and glance at her, but he simply shrugged and felt for the pulses of magic around him. He enjoyed the sensation, and he liked pulling things out of the dirt and rock around him. What would he do without this place? His home before his Home?

The gargoyle paused and glanced to the side for a moment. Hmm, there had to be something there, and he stopped with one foot held slightly in the air, tilting his head before he nuzzled a little lower onto a rock. There had to be something there, there just had to be. That pull in his soul, that lovely sensation of something magical in the air around him, in the rock. Goran flexed his claws and then began to dig as the woman halted as well to watch him. Really? This close to the entrance? Jack chewed on her lip for a moment before nodding a little, she trusted Goran more than most other animals around her, she knew better than to question him with all of this. A shovel was produced from inside of the cart and she went a little ways away from where the gargoyle was digging before she shoved the spade into the dirt below.

It took awhile for her to feel it, but maybe her mood was dampening the sensitivity to everything that wasn't exactly part of herself. Jack shook her head, it was dark in here, a slight amount of light from the entrance to the mine far off in the distance, and the purple glow from the gargoyle. It would be alright, she could do this, she could be out in public and do what she needed to do. The thrumming finally started up a little in her though, as Goran dug a little more. All she could do was smile a little, at least she could muster a smile right now for the gargoyle as he continued to dig in the dirt and rocks. He flew through them it seemed, it was a way he could fly without wings, something he was quite proud of, in fact. Searching for things and being rewarded for it made him feel good about himself as well.
