Jack glanced down at Ecto with a little smile on her face. While she hadn't been the one to breed her, she had been bred before, and by Nerius no less. She was meeting him again for another Pachee breeding, and while she was supplying the normal berries, he had decided to supply a Dragon Oak acorn he had come across, which was perfectly fine by her. Leaning up against the Breeding Center wall, she yawned a little and stretched out while Ecto lazed about by her feet. She didn't know what to make of things right now, she kind of recognized the building, but she had only been here once, which didn't really make it stick out in her memory. Not that... Pachee had long memory though, she figured with a little frown on her face. Ah well, she figured Nerius would be here any minute, and she hoped that they would get something interesting out of this pair.

Nerius was back at it with the pachee breeding again, but he had am excuse this time! It was for science, really! It had recently been discovered that items from other plant creatures could result in mutations in pachee, and he was excited to give it a try. He'd tried a similar project of his own in the past, but with less than spectacular results, at least in terms of mutations. Presley was a very pretty pachee, with his marbled golden coat, and in fact it was his son that Nerius had along with him today.
The pale pachee was in a carrier, peering out at the world as Nerius reached the breeding center. Jack was already here, it seemed, he could feel the mass of magic first, still disorientingly strong, but he was slowly acclimating to it. He soon spotted her leaning against the wall, and headed over, waving with his free hand as he did so.

Rubbing the back of her head with a yawn, the woman gave a little smile after a moment and waved back at her friend, "Heya man, how goes it?" She nudged little Ecto for a moment and the Pachee's glow went brighter for a bit before dulling back down again. Perking up though, she recognized the man coming and ran over to him before putting forepaws on the carrier and peering inside. Jack laughed a bit and opened the door for them, motioning them through, this breeding wouldn't take nearly as long as the last one they had done she figured, they needed to get in before they got in trouble.
She couldn't wait to see what this was going to do for them, and she remembered the last experiment she had done had given her Wilt, the sterile male she kept along with her other Pachee. Maybe this one would turn out a little better, as much as she loved him.

"Well, other than the heat," he gave the sky a weary glare at this, before turning back to Jack. "You?" from what Nerius remembered, she wasn't a big fan of the heat either.
When the other pachee ran over to him, Nerius realized she looked familiar. "Oh! I remember you, Spectre's mother." Not that the pachee would know what that meant, and anyway, seemed much more interested in the male in the carrier. The pale 'chee stared back, rustling his leaves in greeting.
Nerius let the pachee greet one another, but then followed Jack inside the building. The nicely air conditioned building, his pachee didn't seem to mind the heat, but Nerius sure didn't like it. At least he'd only had to haul the one to the Breeding Center this time, and the pachee he'd chosen was actually willing to lay calmly in the carrier, and not squirm around the whole trip.

"I mean, I could conjure up some water to cool us off if you'd prefer," Jack said dryly, ducking in through the door as quickly as she could to get out of the heat. She should have remembered he didn't like it much either, another thing they had in common she figured. "I've got my berries for the breeding at least!" the woman told him as she filled out her part of the paperwork, smiling down at Ecto as she realized that Nerius remembered her. It had taken awhile to remember who had taken her out, but she kept records and it had just been a task of going through them all, considering she didn't have a decent filing system.
Ecto was pleased with the male so far, he was calm and she liked that a lot! It made things easier to get along with, though it would be harder to get pollen that way...

"That's one way to do it," Nerius gave a toothy smile, and honestly, if they'd had to stay outside, probably would have agreed to it, intended as a joke or not. "Might make a bit of mess with the paperwork though," it was possible Jack hadn't meant drenching them in water, but that was how Nerius had imagined it.
Speaking of paperwork, he had his own half to fill out, and set the carrier containing his pachee down, where he could at least see the other 'chee. The pale fellow peered though the holes once things had settled, looking around to try to spot the female again. He didn't have a whole lot of time to look, just while Nerius was filling out his half of the paperwork. Once he was done, which wouldn't take long for only one pachee, he'd need to scoop up the carrier again, and head for their assigned room.

"I mean this is true..." Jack trailed off with a grin on her face as she finished up the paperwork and handed it over to the attendant. She wasn't sure what to expect from Nerius sometimes, but he made her chuckle at least, so there was that. Patting Ecto on the head, she followed Nerius and his carrier with the male in it to the room they were assigned and pushed her hair back a little as she tried to think of what else to say. They did so many breedings it was difficult sometimes she knew.
Ah well.
Ecto peered into the carrier and then tumbled back when Nerius picked it up again. She pouted and scampered after them, trying to keep up until she heard the woman say, "At least she's bred before, and you're the one who borrowed her too. At least she's not among strangers I guess."

Things lapsed into silence as the paperwork was turned in. Nerius considered if he should say something, but social skills weren't really his strong point. It was always extra difficult with these sorts of meetings, sure the pachee provided obvious small talk, but with how busy the breeding center could be, things were often so rushed there wasn't really time for a proper conversation.
But using pachee as a conversation topic did give him one idea. "This little fellow is the offspring of the male that resulted from our mushroom experiment." He even had his grandsire Duma's markings, though in different colors.
"She did seem to recognize me," he agreed, or at least, she'd been interested enough to stop at look at him before checking out the other pachee.
Once they reached their room, Nerius opened the carrier to let his pachee explore, and wasn't surprised to see that he was more interested in the female than the surrounding room.

Jack perked up when he said that, this was the kin of one of her animals, and from their experiment as well? "I still have Wilt! I'm excited to see that their line is still going, considering Wilt can't continue it," she told him with a little smile, reaching out to scratch the little male behind his ears if he would let her. Ecto was interested in him though, and her forehead was open in case he let loose some of his pollen, though she didn't really do it on purpose it seemed. All she knew was that this was going to be just fine and all would work out in the end.
Stretching out on one of the chairs, the woman laced her fingers behind her head and yawned again. It was hot outside which sapped the life out of her it would seem, and she closed her eyes with a little smile, "Man, the heat really takes it out of a person huh?"

Nerius nodded, Wilt was unique, but that uniqueness prevented any more offspring from that side of the bloodline. "This little fellow is my newest pachee addition, I haven't even named him yet." He did try to give everything names, but sometimes he just didn't have the time to get to it immediately.
The pale male was happy to receive pets from Jack, and Nerius took the opportunity to take out the dragonoak acorn he'd brought. The 'chee noticed the snack, and scampered over to take it. Instead of sapping it dry on the spot, he went over to the female, holding out the acorn, and offering to share, pollen drifting off as he wiggled his tail.
"That it does," Nerius agreed, "I try to avoid running errands during the day this time of year." The breeding center was air conditioned at least, so it was really only the trip that was unpleasant.
