Crossbreed: Ankoken Cunning: 3 Animal Average Top Speed: 35 mph, 35 mph (gliding) Special Requirements: Loyalty 15 (to train) Size Chart: 5 Power Levels: 5 Notes: Highly aggressive until Loyalty 15. Stamina: 7 Strength: 5 Resistance: 4 Dexterity: 4 Mentality: 5 Special Abilities: Glide, Cave Crawler, Light Resistance Moves: Climb, Horn Strike, Bound, Give Way, Purify, Ker-zaap Biology: Majestic and considerably deadly in one, there's a certain strong, ironblooded pride in these creatures that isn't very easily broken. And yet despite that aggression they are also quite graceful, magnificent and otherwordly, seeming half here, half.. somewhere else. Preferring solitude over company these creatures often find a home on the vast craggy slopes of mountains and cliffs, the in-between of not being trapped in the darkness underground like their cavern sarane blood while also not being exposed to the sheer blankness of the planes, the subject of detest to their pure equillion parents. From such vantage points they could easily survey and control their territory, ensuring no rock, stone, blade of grass nor subject of prey was out of place or taken away by intruders. Should they come upon such then the only part pure in them is their ability to glide in on silent wings of mist before the inevitable crackle of thunder. Should an owner manage to get past these intrusion-repelling tendencies they would find these creatures with quite good backs and strong legs, ideal for use as mounts. The 'fans' along their spine are in truth only half-there, more for show and intimidation of intruders than any form of defence. A rider can easily place a saddle over them with the creature none the bothered. Of course.. like the unicorn legends of old, having a humanoid get so close as to even try to lay a hand on these creatures is a considerable feat. Mostly because unlike the passive unicorns of old, these creatures would much prefer to be aggressive instead.

Crossbreed: Māo Lóng Cunning: 3 Animal Average Top Speed: 40 mph, 60 mph (flying) Special Requirements: Loyalty 5 (to trust) Size Chart: 3 Power Levels: 3 Notes: None Stamina: 3 Strength: 2 Resistance: 2 Dexterity: 6 Mentality: 2 Special Abilities: Fly, Forest-Dweller Moves: Bite, Hidden Mist, Telekinesis Biology: Sometimes good things come in small packages, and in the case of these half-breeds they're.. well, smaller packages than their mosca parents, but not quite so small as their ling-ling lineage. It seems that in compensation they do not have quite as strong innate natures nor magics as the former parent either, though what small gifts they do bear are certainly worth usefulness to a particularly crafty owner. These creatures are quite unique in the way that they have both scales and fur, though the former is quite soft and more rough skin-like while the latter is downy and short, save for the impressive flares of mane. The scaling is most evident along their underside and slightly more prominent along the fore-limbs and cheeks, but the fur easily covers the rest, even their wings. It might not make for the best in aerodynamics, but given their size and light weight, it suffices to make them still quite spry on the winds. Disposition-wise they are rather the two sides of the coin, when it comes to personalities inherited from their parents - one side, and the first anyone ever gets to become acquainted with, is one of pride and almost an air of haughty nature, the aloofness and composed nature that only a mosca could refine; the second side, which usually comes once they get to know you (and reversely, when you get to know them past that veneer of regal refinement) is one of true loyalty. Getting to that point, though, would take some time.. After all, when you are as magnificent as this, why would you need someone else? But should you succeed in proving them wrong on such a simple matter, consider yourself under their guard and watch - their gifts are few and small, but spirits be damned if they don't dry with ferocity should you be threatened.

Crossbreed: Moscaru Cunning: 3 Animal Average Top Speed: 45 mph Special Requirements: None Size Chart: 3 Power Levels: 3 Notes: Cannot battle. Stamina: 3 Strength: 3 Resistance: 2 Dexterity: 5 Mentality: 1 Special Abilities: Pack Instincts, City Dweller Moves: Static Touch, Echolocation Biology: Where their predecessors were built for companionship over any martial ability, these guys certainly look and feel like they could prove the opposite.. if only they hadn't forgot how to predator. Indeed, the best these beasts can muster in terms of any aggressive behaviour is accidentally knocking over furniture or an involuntary slight static sting from that silky smooth fur when petting it for too long. On the whole that could hardly be seen as a crutch, however. Their sleek and nimble builds make them quite attractive showpets, with long sinewy limbs and flexible spines. Broad ears make them able to hear even the smallest of noises in dead-silence and their fur is like petting a heavenly blanket, while the jewellery they are so fond of brings a sense of comfort, pulsing with faint light when they are truly happy (and also purring). In terms of their attitude these creatures are highly sociable, seeking out company if they can, even if just for entertainment. A creature by itself with nothing else around is a sore sight and may even cause it get sickly as a result. Though despite that, they are far more capable of keeping themselves safe than their orbaru kin, treating much of the Labs' area as only but a playground and while they have no instinct to fight or defend, they certainly have the capability and inclination to flee danger should it impose on them.

Crossbreed: Raigoyle Cunning: 4 Beast Average Top Speed: 30 mph Special Requirements: None Size Chart: 3 Power Levels: 4 Notes: None Stamina: 3 Strength: 4 Resistance: 5 Dexterity: 3 Mentality: 2 Special Abilities: Nightvision, Shadow Resistance, Earth Resistance Moves: Arid Bite, Gale Winds Biology: When talking about the aspect of a 'heart's desire' the concept is taken to.. somewhat literal lengths when it comes to these half-breeds. Half-Rakai, the power of their sire kin's crystalline hearts is only added to by the magical crystal of the gargoyles, though granted, where one is pure and solid, the corrupting nature of shadows does not go without an effect.. Encased in a solid rock shell, it is, in fact, literally solid, unlike their gargoyle kin who sport a more malleable kind of 'living' rock skin that shifts and moves as they do. Thankfully most of the rock is shaped into variously sized scales, that shift and slide against one another, allowing the creature to move and live quite comfortably, even though cracks and fissures leave gaps through which one could see the true magic encased inside. Some could even argue whether the soul of the creatures are their bodies or merely the crystal which forms at their core and sprouts outward. There isn't really a lot of room for sentiment in these half-bloods, mostly because they have a hard time relating to beings of more organic and 'squishy' variety. While this does not make them disobedient or notably stubborn compared to other instances, it does create a sense of 'aloofness' where one could almost swear the only thing they do seem interested in is other crystals. While it doesn't make them terribly good companions, at least they could find you some pretty gemstones?

Half-breed: Mangrove Cunning: 2 Critter Average Top Speed: 35 mph (swimming) Special Requirements: Level 5 (to train) Size Chart: 8 Power Levels: 8 Notes: None Stamina: 9 Strength: 12 Resistance: 10 Dexterity: 6 Mentality: 3 Special Abilities: Aquatic, Chlorophyll, Jungle Dweller (Water) Moves: Root, Depth’s Hold, Drown, Spore, Wave of Muck There is a saying, which says: a rolling stone gathers no moss. Evidently it is not the case with floating stones, or rather, floating wood. Broad, heavy, incredibly large and impossibly strange, these half-breeds are no easy task for most trainers to take on. Even those who could claim extensive knowledge of either the pliathor or nyssa (or both) would find themselves at odds and ends when it comes to taming these flotilla forests. Mostly because there is nothing to, technically, 'tame'. These guys have few enough needs and almost next to no requirement of care, so long as the waters in which they're situated have a nutrient rich floor. Most of the time they do not even move, or if so very gradually, preferring to have the currents slowly push them along, making small adjustments along the way. They feed on the sun and what minerals they can absorb from the river- and lakebeds through their roots, stopping only to dig themselves in for a feeding or resting. Too large for most things to prey upon, too tough for others to even bother with, these half-breeds have next to no natural enemies and neither do they hunt for anything or -one themselves. Thus, a trainer who hopes to bond with one such beast must first manage to even achieve its attention - a task all the more difficult seeing as they seem more interested in what is below water in the sands than anything shouting words at them from the shore. But, patience and careful study can give a good enough trainer inklings on the mindset of these beasts. For one, their passive nature exists only so long as they are not irritated. It can take a while to force them from that state. This does not mean they are above acting upon it once they are.. After all, what better way to enrich soil than with organic matter?

Half-breed: Cephallette Cunning: 4 Beast Average Top Speed: 35 mph, 60 mph (flying) Special Requirements: None Size Chart: 3 Power Levels: 5 Notes: Loyalty 10 (to train) Stamina: 5 Strength: 4 Resistance: 3 Dexterity: 5 Mentality: 6 Special Abilities: Fly, Light Immunity, Iron Will, Keen Senses, Magical Moves: Claw, Mimic, Starlight, Shield of Light, Psychic Distortion They say mages immersed in too much magic tend to lose their humanity in the process, given to the power over social aspects. While that may very well be true, sometimes it's easier to lose something when you never really had it to begin with. For creatures who are just that small step shy of sentience, these half-breeds do an excellent job at imposing onto others how all their cunning is still heights below them. Indeed, with such magic at one's fingertips, what need is there for seeking deeper meaning in existence, but to simply sustain one's position? For this the half-breeds are certainly well equipped with an array of arcane tricks and methods that should dissuade any dissenters from trying them. What is lacked in brute force is made up in finesse, what lacks in intimidation is made up with a steely, almost otherworldly calm, that can unnerve in far simpler ways. Even beyond their minds they are quite extraordinarily built - soft, downy fur covering all the parts of them purely organic, a strange kind of arcane living metal forming a cage-work throughout their body where it is not. All to simply protect the pure light within them, channeled by the thrum of two arcane hearts. With such treasure so openly shown, it is no wonder these half-breeds have such prickly natures and need for personal space. To this end they would trick and hex, even going so far as to resort to physical methods if needed with their claws formed out of pure light turned to solid form, if only so none would touch them without leave. Such an act, if permitted, would be one of the highest privilege, and all the more difficult to obtain. Difficult.. but not impossible.

Half-breed: Chaoderg Cunning: 4 Beast Average Top Speed: 20 mph, 75 mph (flying) Special Requirements: None Size Chart: 4 Power Levels: 4 Notes: Loyalty 15 (to tame) Stamina: 5 Strength: 4 Resistance: 3 Dexterity: 6 Mentality: 2 Special Abilities: Fly, Prismatic Refraction, Electricity Resistance Moves: Gash, Peck, Sonic Blast, Chain Lightning, Chaotic Heart When trying to capture lightning in a bottle there is a certain uncertainty about the result of the outcome, as either you manage to indeed contain a very powerful source of energy in an incredibly brittle container.. Or you end up losing face. With glass. It should come as no surprise that these half-breeds come with a lengthy list of terms of service, warning labels and with some life insurance policies offered on the side when trying to handle them, but perhaps the actual shocking revelation about their nature comes from how they can be ever as dangerous to themselves as they are to others. Indeed, the almighty lord Chaos chooses no favourites from among his flock and these half-breeds have their share of his 'blessings' to make life hardly a bore. Bridled with the shifting, erratic energies of lightning, there is none the less some consistency in their form. For one, it actually manages to sustain a stable form, at least on the outside. Flecks of light dance along every scale and tuft of fur, nimble feet make them agile on their toes and long, thin wings a zephyr in the skies. With their long tails they are able to keep a good sense of balance as well. Angled, sharp teeth make them quite well equipped to all sorts of marine life, their preferred type of food, while long, hooked claws allow purchase on sea-cliff, tree and City building alike. What thrums and beats inside is another story. While not malicious as such, these half-breeds are far from stable, prone to act out without thought and easily given into impulses. The shifting beat of their hearts helps little in that manner, often making them feel as though they're riding a sublime high.. or one step from collapse. As such, the owners would need to form a mighty strong bond indeed, to bring their calm as balance to the erratic nature, in order to be around them in any measure of safety. And even then it might not be guaranteed.

Half-breed: Maluzik Cunning: 4 Beast Average Top Speed: 30 mph, 40 mph (flying) Special Requirements: Level 5 (to train) Size Chart: 3 Power Levels: 3 Notes: None Stamina: 2 Strength: 2 Resistance: 2 Dexterity: 4 Mentality: 5 Special Abilities: Fly, Shadow Resistance, Opposable Thumbs, Magical Touch Moves: Echolocation, Poison Sting, Shadow Meld There's certainly a lot of frightful creatures that go bump in the night, but rarely are there any that go 'click'. And yet, that is one of the tell-tale signs that one of these half-breeds are up and about close by. There is not all too much concrete about them as much of their potential tends to lie in what manner of magics they end up learning, but a few physiological quirks are the same across all. Whether curious or a trickster, all of these half-breeds have an innate sense of caution and fearfulness. In large part it comes from their more underdark-dwelling parents, though the private nature of the maliis certainly doesn't help. The rest of the reason comes from their build - for their size, they are quite frail compared to some other creatures, thus they are more made for avoiding dangers than confronting them. Able to walk the shadows and use tools in equal measure makes their skillsets more in the line of 'brains' than 'brawn'. In this the owners would do well to study their creatures and help them reach new potentials, before they could truly know how to properly handle them. This is especially true due to their wings, thin and delicate segmented membranes, quote sensitive to air flows and pressures. Something which, along with their clicking vocalizations, aids them in navigating the darkness of the tunnels. Unfortunately this also makes them reflexively recoil from touch even by those they deem trustworthy, which can make handling a creature such as this an art of patience. But, perhaps, given enough time and practise, even these creatures could develop a trust with their owner not unlike how the malii are rumoured to.. and on that day, they might not even flinch.

Half-breed: Gembaru Cunning: 3 Animal Average Top Speed: 20 mph Special Requirements: None Size Chart: 2 Power Levels: 2 Notes: Can battle. Stamina: 2 Strength: 2 Resistance: 2 Dexterity: 2 Mentality: 0 Special Abilities: Glide, Gleam, Diurnal Spirit Moves: Nip, Deceptive Lure To preface, the scientists of the Confluxery would like to reassure that, despite appearances, these half-breeds are not, in fact, blind. In fact, the truth is quite the opposite - they might be seeing considerably more in the light wavelengths than most other creatures. Aside the odd appearances of their eyes, the surface of their body is another odd anomaly. It is certainly organic, skin and fur and all such normal to organic creatures, yet the sheen and light glistening off of them seems nearly otherwordly. And the shine of things is likewise what they are attracted to, almost as if the very gleam of their own form makes them covet anything with a glint as theirs. While technically not the brightest of creatures they can be tricky at times, a built-in defense mechanism making them seem inert and unmoving. To new owners, this can be a cause of alarm, as they quite literally appear to be having no physical functions at all, not even breathing. This, however, is thankfully a ruse that the half-breeds prefer to use as defense as well as a playful aspect, for next to finding things which shine, the carefree nature often makes these creatures quite good companions, especially to small children. Once.. you get past the hollow eye thing, at least..

Half-breed: Orbicus Cunning: 3 Animal Average Top Speed: 25 mph Special Requirements: None Size Chart: 2 Power Levels: 3 Notes: Gains loyalty at twice the normal rate. Stamina: 5 Strength: 4 Resistance: 2 Dexterity: 3 Mentality: 1 Special Abilities: Pack Instincts (Vulticus), City Dweller, Loosen Fur Moves: Bite, Healing Drop, Deceptive Lure By the prickling of our thumbs, something.. adorable?.. this way comes. Despite a more than predator-rich background these crosses actually have quite amiable natures, suggesting the cover really does describe the book quite well, so to speak. They feel at home near humanoids and the humanoid homes are basically their preferred habitat, quite similar to the concept of dogs compared to their otherwise more wolf-like vultici parentage. A relatively short, but very thick coat of fur keeps them warm enough in most weather, though the dead of winter may require a jacket to be worn just in case. A bit more lankier than either of their more canid parents, the long back legs make for impressive ability to reach higher places if stood up on, though the shorter front ones tend to make them no quicker at running than most other creatures. They do have a small amount of magic in them, however diluted, and most of it is concentrated in their orbs, something they don't mind using in play to lure others closer before that joyful pounce. Despite their orbaru parentage, these crosses do not have a natural rejection to combat, even though they do have a slight aversion to it - they would much rather prefer play and company over aggression and violence, something which makes them perfect creatures of comfort and recovery. Indeed, the only time in which one could turn more aggressive is if it were in direct defense of its owner from other aggression, a state not easily pushed into, and even then only far enough to get the owner to safety before reverting back to their caring, attentive natures.

Half-breed: Thundrane Cunning: 3 Animal Average Top Speed: 35 mph, 35 mph (flying) Special Requirements: None Size Chart: 6 Power Levels: 6 Notes: Loyalty 15 (to tame) Stamina: 14 Strength: 8 Resistance: 6 Dexterity: 3 Mentality: 2 Special Abilities: Fly, Iron Will, Commanding Presence, Thorny Body, Electrical Resistance Moves: Gash, Thunder, Ker-zaap!, Euphoric Goop It's difficult enough to stop a moving freight train, but what about one that can.. well, fly? Something that is essentially a ton of bricks, scales and muscles, and with an unfriendly disposition to boot? Thankfully, despite their ability to, these creatures prefer to remain grounded unless otherwise necessary and with good reason - their bulk, the very thing to make them formidable and technically supported by their wingspan, also makes them quite ungainly fliers. They aren't all too hot a running on the ground either, but then, when all you seek is peace and quiet there's thankfully no need to even bother with either. Outwardly they are certainly very imposing creatures, with broad bone-filled frills, large muscles and pretty much covered in spikes all over. To tackle or grapple with one is to basically lose a battle to a shredder mixed with a brick wall. And they aren't so easily taunted by more mental things either, but rather tend to project an aura of their own. For anything threatening (or annoying, or simply intruding) far away, they vibrate the horns of their crest until a high-pitched sound builds to a crescendo, released as a bolt of lightning at the target. For anything close a simple stomp will do.. or perhaps they merely spit and drool on them, for the saliva is another danger all on its own.. Often it is used to hunt, if their omnivoric tendencies leave them no other source of sustenance to be found - the creatures need but one bite to infect the prey, then slowly lumber after until the drool does its work in the prey's nervous system, rendering it an easy, docile catch. When all this comes together it is no wonder then that these creatures can be incredibly difficult to tame, at first, being unimpressed by shows of strength and generally only looking forward to the next meal, hardly a care in the world for other things. But, with persistence, a dollop of caution and no small amount of effort, they could be turned into something much, much more towards their owners.

Half-breed: Caribaru Cunning: 3 Animal Average Top Speed: 30 mph Special Requirements: None Size Chart: 3 Power Levels: 3 Notes: Cannot battle. Stamina: 4 Strength: 3 Resistance: 2 Dexterity: 4 Mentality: 2 Special Abilities: Empathetic Link, Thick Fur Moves: Snowball Throw, Grace, Provide Warmth Small(-ish), silent(-ish), and shy(-ish), there is no pitter-patter of padded (or even cloven) feet to signal the arrival of these half-breeds. Indeed, if one wasn't paying attention, they might not even notice they are there at all, which is partly how they prefer it, particularly when in the company of other, more louder, creatures. Their outward shyness hides an inward sense of affection and play. Much like the orbaru, they enjoy the company of anything they deem 'fun' (which, given the individual, can be quite a broad stroke), but unlike the orbaru who are not too choosy on the definition of the word, their more deer-blooded inheritance is a love for the calm and the quiet. Any owner who provides such could, thus, easily be brought under the prestigious concept of 'being fun'. So long as the peace and calm remains. And a good thing as well, for all they are playful they are not great at defending themselves directly. While running away or distracting a foe is of little issue, actual confrontation causes the poor creatures to merely seize up, unable to even attack in self-defence, much less that of their owner. As such, they are considered more 'house' companions than ones to take into the trekking of the wild. But, should an owner's living quarters be on the colder side or the winter particularly harsh, at least they are not left out into it to fend on their own, with their 'house'-companions easily able to sense discomforts in other beings and actively seeking to ease them through play or their innate magic. Other creatures may do the fighting, but at least they know how to take care of those once the fighting's done.

Half-breed: Vesubaru Cunning: 4 Beast Average Top Speed: 20 mph Special Requirements: None Size Chart: 3 Power Levels: 4 Notes: Loyalty 10 (to respect). Cannot be used as mounts. Stamina: 5 Strength: 4 Resistance: 3 Dexterity: 4 Mentality: 3 Special Abilities: Bioluminescence, Commanding Presence, Thick Fur Moves: Lava Spit, Smoke What's a mob to a king? Often enough a very bad revolution about to happen, but what about when the king is particularly charming and seems to just.. draw you right in? Well, then that's a whole different matter.. Its rare for creatures to possess as much charisma as these halfbreeds manage, to not only draw the eye, but also keep it on them. Or, perhaps its something more chemical, more biological, that causes other beasts to flock around them with reverence.. It certainly isn't anything so eldritch as psychic powers, even if the command of attention may at times seem like so. All this combines into a mood that is both carefree and incredibly distant. Much like their tat-lung parents, there is an understanding of Standards. Anything or anyone who falls beneath such are considered unworthy of attention and energy. Anything or -one meeting them might just get the time of the day once or twice in a while. Even the offering of gifts is seen more a rightful act than something to appeal for, and while it may garner the giver broader attention than the rest, they are generally no more accepted on an emotional level as a rock (even a very shiny one). This mentality of garnering a crowd is, in a way, a defence mechanism. These half-breeds, for all their imposing natures, are not that great in battle, so having followers around to do such for them protects them both physically and from having to something so menial as, ugh, physical labour. They prefer to instead lounge on the sides of their carefully chosen (shallow) pools or ponds, decorating it with the riches and glories they're presented. Always carefully well kept, with their lush fur in meticulous order, it may take a prospective owner quite some time to garner the attention of the creature, and even more time to be seen in return.

Half-breed: Orbarune Cunning: 3 Animal Average Top Speed: 20 mph Special Requirements: None Size Chart: 2 Power Levels: 3 Notes: Loyalty 10 (to battle with). Stamina: 4 Strength: 3 Resistance: 2 Dexterity: 3 Mentality: 1 Special Abilities: Forest Dweller, Danger Sense Moves: Gash, Cindering Breath, Fire Shield Every magician needs a good companion and luckily for them, these guys make for excellent ones. Once.. you get past the inherent trust issues, that is. More the size of their orbaru parents, these guys none the less have the spunk (and spite) of their sarane blood, causing them to trust most new and strange things with a deep sense of distrust. A character trait which, despite appearing as a flaw at first, is actually quite beneficial to their survival - after all, sarane have a hard enough time surviving among one another. What chance, then, does something so much smaller and frailer have against those odds? Thankfully, they are mellowed some by the fact one merely needs to gain their trust, rather than outright needing to break them in the arena. As such, they may go about listening and even obeying their owners (to a degree, of course) from early on, but to truly have them stay by their side, the owner needs to forge a water-tight bond. Or, well, fire-tight as it were. Spunk and spite alone can carry you only so far, after all. Small as they are, these half-breeds still have a good spark and flame to them, granted its mostly utilized in defense. To attack something would require a very strong reason (and probably a whole lot more fire). When not feeling threatened, however, they can have a pretty trick-loving nature to them, hiding among the brushes and trees by means of games and very occasionally going about to steal some food if possible as well. All in all, adopting these little drakes into the house might make life more interesting than anticipated, but also that much more inriched.
