Nearing the edge of the city is a large stone building that sprawls out in multiple directions. The architecture is unusual, inspired by a mix of Draconic and City cultures alike. Despite being relatively new, the stonework looks ancient, as if it had been there for generations. The entry is a large stone archway with no visible door. To the left of the archway is an elaborately painted wooden sign, and to the right is a nearly scrawled description of the building, etched into a metal plaque. Both are written in Common and Draconic. Twisted Tales | Library of Artifacts & Collection of Tomes |
Inside the archway, the building opens up into the lobby. The room is decorated with a mismatched collection of places to sit, including chairs, benches, beanbags, and even a pile of large rocks. Everything in the building is made to accommodate anyone from the size of a Harachiu all the way up to a small (size 3 or smaller) Draconic. All are welcome. Be responsible. Respect everyone. Take only what you need. |
A series of short, twisting hallways connect all of the main areas together. Each hallway has a few offshoots which lead to lecture halls, study rooms, and a variety of quiet places to rest. There are even rooms with large pools of water to rest in, and a bioluminescent garden in which to study. Thankfully, there are neatly placed signs to direct anyone who gets lost. Which way to go first? ↑ Crystal Cafe ← Tome Treasury Artifact Archive → |

Crystal Cafe Welcome to the Crystal Cafe. The open room is lined with neatly arranged tables and chairs, and though they are all different sizes, they otherwise look exactly the same. As with everything else in the library, things are set out in different sizes to accommodate many different kinds of guests. From the teacups to the tablecloths, everything matches perfectly with a pastel and crystal aesthetic. The reason for the aesthetic becomes clear upon approaching the counter. The entire cafe is run (and decorated) by none other than a Crystal Tat-lung. Her softly colored scales and shimmering gems clearly inspired the decor. She will silently wait for someone to place their order, then she taps the counter with her claw, expecting the correct payment to be placed there. The cafe has many kinds of drinks available, from a variety of teas and tisanes, both hot and cold, to coffees and cocoas. They also offer highly prized drinks infused or sprinkled with gemstones for the discerning Tat-lung connoisseur. However, they do not seem to offer anything in the way of food… that is, unless one is willing to eat gems.

Tome Treasury The heart of a library is, of course, the books. As could be expected, there are rooms lined with shelves, each one filled with books of all kinds, carefully arranged first by language, then by topic or genre. It would seem that the tomes are as much of a melting pot as the city itself, collected from many different cultures. The vast collection spreads throughout the entire building like branches on a tree. It is quite easy to lose one’s place, but thankfully there is always someone around to help. It is unclear whether he is able to sense when someone needs him or he’s always silently observing everyone at the same time, but if anyone needs help, a Silver Tat-lung appears. He stays on top of the shelves in the gap between the shelf and the ceiling, bouncing from one to another in order to get around. As long as he can avoid it, his claws do not touch the ground. When someone is lost, he will silently lead them to where they want to go. If a particular book cannot be reached or carried due to its size or location, he will gently place it at one’s feet, leaving his back claws and long tail draped over the shelf for balance. Otherwise, he is always reading and observing, watching the goings on in the library from above.

Artifact Archive There is a (relatively) small room off to the side where the artifacts are kept. This room is absolutely filled with trinkets and curios of all kinds, some of them powerful magic artifacts, and some of them completely useless junk. They are all arranged onto mismatched shelves, tables, desks, and cabinets. The curator of this collection certainly has a peculiar sense of style. A Gold Tat-lung can often be found twisted around the many shelves and tables studying some trinket or another. Even if she is not immediately in sight, she is always watching over the collection. If it looks like someone might damage something (or put it in an unapproved place), she instantly lets out a booming growl as a warning. Should anyone attempt to leave with an object before signing it out, she will appear in front of them with her feathers flared. It would be very unwise indeed to proceed beyond her first (and only) warning.

Leasing Ledger In the center of the artifact archive is a podium with a large book resting on it. The ledger contains a detailed list of artifacts, as well as whether they are available for lending and a transaction record of who has borrowed them. It is meticulously maintained. Astrolabe | Allows the user to unerringly coordinate direction towards a point on an existing map as long as there is natural starlight. | Crystal Divination Bowl | Allows the user to cast 'Mystique' once per day. (Allows the user to communicate with the afterlife for a brief time.) | Dream Safe | If you place a personal object in the safe, you will be protected from all scrying, dreamwalking, or magical location tracking when you are within 10m of it. It is too heavy to carry on person. | Everdrift Plank | This plank is incapable of sinking no matter what; even if a Pliathor jumped on it, it would not move. It will float forever regardless of what happens to it. | Firefly Jar | Emanates light like that of a torch that spreads out to about 5 feet around the center. No effect in battle. | Fireworks Shooter | Fires a colorful explosive firework that does between 1-6 [flt] fire damage. Can be fired up to 6 times a day. Must recharge (for one turn) between shots. | Harvest Circlet | Magically produces a small amount of food once per day. The kind of food is random, but is generally the size of a large apple. (Can be a single item like an apple or carrot, or many small items like seeds or berries.) The food spoils when the day is over. | Rainfall Flute | Allows the user to use 'Call the Rains' once per week. | Min Burlap Sack | When opened, a shadowy spectre springs up from inside after ten seconds and uses 'Spook' on everyone around the object. Useable once per day. | Mur Burlap Sack | When opened, a relaxing aroma of autumn leaves, pumpkins, spices and candy is released that soothes the mind and revitalizes the spirit. | Serpent's Mirror | A single target who looks in the mirror has a chance of being dazed, and while in the daze they cannot attack the owner of the mirror. This attempt to daze can be tried on one target once per day. | Sunken Crate | Keeps everything put inside of it dry in a watertight bubble. Once the items are removed, they're no longer protected. | Topaz Goggles | While worn, the wearer has thermal vision. However, the wearer can no longer see normally, and will have a hard time navigating their new sense. The ability to see color is also completely lost. |
