Time to hunt, she figured as she gathered her things and pulled a flashlight out of her bag. The woman stretched out and then patted Di on the head before heading out to the Everfields again, wondering if they could find it easily this time or not. Jack frowned a little, it had taken Merle a little bit to find the Night Stalker, but it was harder to find the Morning Glory bird. Maybe it would be the same for Di, maybe it would be reversed, she supposed it didn't matter as long as they found it eventually. Once again, she couldn't help out the Ohou, even though she heard a few sounds on the wind, but it was going to be entirely up to the Ohou to find this bird. That was the hard part, keeping out of it while she held the flashlight in the early hours of the morning.

Diana's ears perked up and she whipped her head around to see what she could follow. This was... a little weird, Jack granted the situation, but she wasn't going to look it in the mouth if she found it so quickly. Was she going to be even better than her father was? Now there was a thought, she figured with a small grin on her face. All she needed to do was figure out where the noises were coming from, and Diana kept her ears perked as she sniffed around, trying to catch the scent along with the sounds of the bird. Jack glanced up and smiled a little, she knew where it was, but she couldn't help, that was the thing. Well, she still flashed her flashlight wide as she followed the Ohou for a bit, wondering what was going to happen if she found it this quickly. That wasn't her luck though was it?

Must have been a change in the wind, because Di's ears swiveled a few times and then drooped. She growled low for a moment and narrowed her eyes, she had lost the trail rather quickly, just like Jack figured she might. Maybe the bird had heard them quickly or something and off it went, though she didn't know what to expect with any of that at the moment. With a sigh, she patted Di on the head and told her, "Go find something, Di." Bobbing her head a little, the Ohou sighed a bit and then sniffed around, wondering what they would be able to find this time. It wasn't like there was much to do at the moment with the sky so dark, it was just past midnight, the sun would start coming up in a few hours and they would have to call it a night then. Jack hoped they wouldn't have to.

Jack kept her eyes and ears open for now, attempting to find the trail herself as well. If possible, she might nudge her in the right direction with the flashlight or something, she didn't really know at this point. That was alright though, she thought with a small nod, she wouldn't interfere, it wouldn't be fair to the rest of them if she did that, so she remained steadfast in her approach to this hunt. Having known the signs from when Merle had hunted last, she realized that Diana was sniffing at a few scratches on a low branch, and she raised an eyebrow. That had to be some part of it, wouldn't it? Maybe, maybe not, but at least she wasn't obsessed with a rodent trail like Merle had been time and time again. That would probably happen though, and she patted Di on the back when she drew close, still trying to find the trail.

Keeping her head down a little, the woman tried not to help out the Ohou, but it was drawing a little hard when she fell into Merle's habit of going after rodent pawprints. Jack sighed a little as she tried to figure out how to move her to the side a little bit, not to go after the rodent. This was bad, if she was like her father, she would follow the footprints for awhile until she got tired of it or caught another scent. That was the issue, she thought with a little frown, and she hoped that everything would go well for the cream Ohou at this point. Di snorted after following the trail for a little bit and then shook her head, that's not what she was after, she was after a bird, she knew that much of course. What she needed to do was calm down and listen.

As Jack scratched the Ohou's back for a little bit, her ears perked up again and Di went off searching again. This was fine, she could find this bird, her father had, hadn't he? That meant she could no problem. Woofing low to herself, giving herself a small pep talk, she knew that she could do it no matter what. There were a few scratches on a low hanging branch again and she tilted her head, wondering if they were from a bird or not. She didn't really... know what markings a bird would make, she knew with a little frown on her muzzle. Oh well, it wouldn't hurt to follow them for a time or two as she hunted down the bird she was supposed to find. This was alright, she knew with a little woof at the woman to keep up with her. Jack chuckled and shook her head, whatever.

Hmm, it was lost, and Diana sat back, tilted her head up, and howled mournfully. Jack tapped her on the nose and she stopped, she needed to focus if she was going to find this bird, it wasn't like they had a lot of time in which to do this, and she didn't need to scare off the bird at this point. Glancing over at the woman, she gave a grateful look and then stood up, shook off, and started to search for signs of the bird again. This was rough, she didn't know what to do at the moment other than this, but it was going to be great no matter what happened, at least she was gaining experience and all that, so she didn't need to worry about learning things for awhile. Even the woman said they weren't going to train for a bit, if she could understand her, that was.

Jack watched as Di went along the trail of a rodent again with a little sigh. Well that was unfortunate, she was getting into the habit of going after all those again, just like her dad. She wondered if all Ohou were going to be that was as well, but there wasn't a guarantee as she figured it out, she supposed. Scratching the back of her head, she watched as Di shook off again and then doubled down her efforts. This was going to take awhile to get this done of course, but she could get it, she supposed with a low woof. Whatever, it didn't really matter as long as she caught the bird eventually. Maybe she wouldn't get it this time, but they could always come back, she knew that much at least. Jack patted her on the head when she gave her a sad look for a moment, she could get it.

The trail had gone away and then was back in front of the Ohou now, at least the rodent trail was. Still no sounds from the bird yet, which was a shame when all was said and done, but she didn't know if this was going to end well or not really. Tilting her head a little, the woman sighed a bit and hoped they could at least find a feather. At the edge of her hearing was the sounds of the bird, something she was well acquainted with at this point it would seem, having one at home. She didn't want to hurt the one they had, so she wasn't going to pluck any feathers for tracking or anything like that, but for now she knew that Di would get it when she got it, she just had to decide if she was going to let her kill it or catch it herself.

Di lost the trail again, she thought she had it for a brief moment, at least she heard a bird chirp and then go silent, but then the next moment it was gone. Shaking her head, the woman sighed a little and wished there was something else she could do for her, aside from cheering her on and telling her to go find something. Di had her nose to the ground and her ears perked up as high as she could get them at the moment, which was good no matter what. Whatever happened, she knew that things would work out for them in the long run, even if they had to make multiple trips. She had been worried about doing that with Merle, but he had caught them relatively quickly at least, so that was good. Hopefully it wouldn't be much longer for Di now that they were going.

A floral scent wafted through the area for a little while, distracting Di for a few moments before she shook it off. It was an intoxicating smell at least, so there was that, but she knew that wasn't what she was looking for. Di pawed at her nose a little and sighed, she would never find this bird, and that was irritating, at least to her at the moment. Maybe she should just give up on it, and she glanced over at the woman who encouraged her to go find something. Sure, the woman might hear something, but she couldn't at the moment, which was a shame. Oh well, she could catch it eventually, she knew, which was something she really needed to work on. If she could find it, she would be just as good as her father was, who seemed to be pretty devoted to her mother as well.

Nothing, there was nothing she could see, hear, or smell at the moment. There were a few things on the breeze, but she couldn't pinpoint where they were coming from. That was fine, she didn't have to at the moment, she was just looking for the bird right now, so there was that. Jack tilted her head a little as she thought about it a little, Di was a little upset she hadn't found it so far, but didn't seem to be as bad about it as Merle had been. At least they were both alright with the way things were going at the moment, right? Chuckling a little, the woman patted her on the head to reassure her a little, even though she didn't seem too upset about the whole thing. She might be if the sun started coming up and she hadn't found it yet, but that was something different.

There, there were some scratches on a branch, and she sniffed at them to see if they were made by a bird. There were a few birds back at the Kennel, which is how she knew what the general, underlying scent was, but it didn't matter, she would get this no matter what! Di held her head high and Jack looked at her approvingly, she needed to get her a collar or something, that would work out she supposed with a small chuckle, and the woman shook her head a little as she thought about it. Orange or blue, probably blue, would look good on her, and she made a mental note of doing so sometime in the future. For now she briefly thought of getting her a collar of speech and a charm of brilliance, but she changed her mind rather quickly on that, they were pretty expensive, she knew.

If only there was an easier way of finding this thing, she knew that if she killed the bird and harvested the feathers then it would be easier, but she really didn't want to do that with Merle's birds. He was pretty protective of them, having been made to capture instead of kill when it had been time to do so. Jack was pleased with things, but as Di got the scent of another flower, she sighed a little and shook her head. The bird was right there, but she couldn't find it, it would seem. They still had a couple of hours to do this in though, she thought with a little sigh escaping her. Oh well, either Di found it or she didn't, that was all she knew at the moment, though she hoped she would find it of course, it just made sense for the future, she supposed.
