Morgan was leaned so far over their paperwork that whenever they heard the tell-tale double-rap knock on the doorframe of their office and snapped up to attention to watch whoever would step into the room to address them, they felt their back pop in a mildly painful (and quite loud) fashion. The quick dip of the head of the labcoat-clad individual and hurry-hushed 'You have someone here to see you, boss.' before the individual ducked out of the door and gently closed the door with a satisfying 'snick' had Morgan rolling their shoulders (how tense!) and standing up. They gathered the papers together into neat stacks, delineating with care where they would need to start back up the next day. After checking the time on their WATT they stretched a bit and grabbed their own labcoat on the way out of their office from a wall-hanging rack.
They were not at all surprised to see Endymion standing out on the grassy knoll beside the parking-lot, enjoying one of the nice garden features they'd recently had installed for stress-relieving purposes. "H-hey Endymion." They raised a hand to him. "Quest t-time already?"

Endymion and Morgan had a fairly odd relationship, to say the least. Endymion's role in Morgan's life didn't really manage to fit into any sort of conventional familial roles, at least not any that Morgan had yet become privy to. He was not a child, though Morgan had raised him (Morgan had not been very old at the time either, to be fair). He was not quite a sibling, though Morgan had no siblings to compare him to. The entire situation rotated on it's axis wildly and at the most inopportune moments. Sometimes the human took the lead role, teaching Endymion something he didn't yet know, picking activities out, and sometimes frustratingly seeming to forget that Endymion was no longer a toddling hatchling.
On the other hand, Endymion tended to be more mature out of the two of them; when rights came to rights.
The entire thing was exhausting, but neither of them speak about it (though they both quietly consider it) on the way to the quest board this time. They both know, and they both pretend not to know that the other knows.

They walk this time. Flying is the most exhilarating feeling that Morgan had ever managed to experience- but both of them were shook up after the last time they'd flown over the city. In fact, Endymion had been quite quiet with Morgan since. Neither of them talk about it, neither of them admit that they know that the other one thinks about it. Both of them know very well that eventually, something was going to have to give. The walk was amiable enough, but it was a tenuous balance that would eventually have to break. Endymion walks slowly. Morgan generally moved at quite the clip (something slower than a jog but a little more jaunty than a power walk) but there was no real keeping up with a being as large and deerlike as Endymion tended to be.
The quest board is a little more bare than usual, so Morgan didn't expect to have to look for anything long.

The one that catches Morgan's eye first appears to be some kind of letter as opposed to a traditional advertisement. The bespectacled human was feeling especially emotionally drained this particular evening, so they decided to go with the first one that doesn't sound like a total nightmare or something super boring. They are all too aware of Endymion standing behind them, practically feeling his breath on the soft fly-away hairs that stuck up from the murp-lick on the back and top of their head. It is a little difficult for Morgan to concentrate, having been looking over some rather important documents all day. It was pretty obvious that they had strained their eyes.
Endymion rumbles behind them- just short of verbalizing beyond them.
"Yeah yeah, I know E-endymion. I really should teach you to read sometime. It would m-make this a lot easier." Morgan admits out loud. They hold the paper a bit closer to their face than they normally would and squinted to compensate.

Morgan really need to get out of the Lab a tad, and get more rest. However, taking a vacation at this critical juncture in a project... Morgan knew that they hand selected their team in order to make sure that they would be able to work well enough without them. Hell, Dis could probably take over their job for a full year if they needed- but it still made all the hair on Morgan's nape stand up just thinking about it. Endymion snorts somewhere above them, breaking them from the trance of thought. He carefully runs his muzzle into Morgan's shoulder. Not the entirety of his muzzle- since his head was so large.
Finally Morgan is able to focus on the paper. Apparently someone had a creature (at the name Fifi, Morgan couldn't help but half break out into a smile- it was quite humorous) that needed a caretaker for some amount of time. Their vision swam in and out of blurriness a bit. "Well, that shouldn't be too hard." They didn't bother to look at the picture.

As chance would have it, the next day was 'This Friday'. For some reason, no one had taken the quest up to this point. Morgan could not imagine why, there weren't many creatures designed by the Labs (well, at least not ones that Morgan could imagine would be named 'Fifi' by an owner of any kind) that were too dangerous for someone that was not the owner. They only took the part of the quest sheet with the information they needed (the address, as far as they were concerned). Endymion did not seem to see anything wrong with the entire situation.
The night was rather uneventful- Morgan had a lot of tasks to deal with that night so they didn't do anything that would be notable otherwise. Morgan had thought about reading Endymion a few books while they had the chance, but they were both too tired after all of the tasks were done.

"Well, this should be it." Morgan says. That morning had been rather uneventful. It was one of Morgan's regular days off (though they'd often come in on Fridays anyway) so they got all of the chores started and all of their family and critters cared for before performing the proper spell to allow for them to leave, and then they had taken Endymion with them. They stood out in the yard of the little brick house. It wasn't at all odd to Morgan that the individual had a barn for their critters on the land. Most creature tamers did. What they did think was weird, however, was that it was oddly quiet- save for a single loud snoring noise that traveled across the yard.
The bespectacled human glances at Endymion, eyebrows furrowed. "I didn't think the p-paper said anything about other critters?" Morgan asked.
Endymion shakes his head. "Sounds like one- you know, the large armored thing from the picture?"
It was then that the individual steps out of the barn- a spry humanish woman in a fashionable dress. Behind her, a giant PHIL snored; blissfully asleep.

PHIL were obviously a problem for people that weren't the owner or a typical trainer of PHIL, and honestly those were incredibly uncommon. Morgan's facial expression slides into careful metered neutral. The individual stated that they expected Fifi to sleep the entire time, and that they'd only be out for a couple of hours. Morgan highly suspected that two hours was enough for 'Fifi' to do a whole lot of damage if they weren't careful. Why did the person not request a PHIL-specific keeper?
It occurs to the bespectacled human that perhaps the individual practically had. Apparently Endymion had noticed that the picture had the species shown in it. The human allows a practiced smile to grace their face, and they nod. "Y-yeah, you better get going." Morgan says, shooing the owner away.
If the PHIL tried anything, Morgan was quite sure that between theirself and Endymion they could manage to figure something out.

Morgan finds theirself worrying, after the first hour of watching a sleeping PHIL (that sounded more like a rather hilarious opening to a joke as opposed to such a dangerous situation to be in!), that perhaps the individual might not have been meaning 'a couple of hours' literally. They are inside of the Barn, watching the PHIL as it slept on a pile of straw. Endymion sits on the far side of the barn in front of one of the great doors, and Morgan leans up against his side beneath his wing. So far, nothing terrible had happened. One time, the PHIL had rolled over- and that had been an exercise in trying not to panic.
"Why would Anyone want to train one of those?" The draconic voices, quietly. His neck was gently arched to put his head right next to Morgan's, beneath his wing. Endymion probably would have wrinkled his nose, had he been humanoid.
Morgan shakes their head. "Why do I have a Zombie Drake S-Sarane then, h-huh?"

Why indeed. Interesting enough, Waar probably wasn't the most dangerous animal that Morgan even owned- but the point still stood. Endymion seems extra protective for the remainder of the hour. Morgan manages to find something interesting to read, and with Endymion's head bent down next to Morgan's they read aloud to him very quietly. Luckily, the PHIL stayed asleep for that hour as well. Morgan had never worked with a PHIL before so they had no idea how long the creatures tended to sleep, but it seemed to make sense to them that such a large creature would stay asleep for long periods of time. Most carnivores tended to do so- it was more energy efficient.
Finally, the barn door opens and the strangely fancy individual steps in. Morgan and Endymion are up on their feet far faster than they perhaps would have been. After bigging as polite an adieu as Morgan could manage, they step on out and over the front yard.
The human let out a breath they hadn't known they were holding once they left the yard. "W-well, Endymion. T-think you can deal with me this weekend? We've got some stuff to go over."
Endymion affixes the human with a strange expression in his eyes, and then nods.
