. ~ Fairgrounds Scavenge ~ .
Antelmo Gallus has a problem. He's spent a good deal of funds and effort to procure a desolate, nearly-abandoned, utterly ignored plot of land on the City's edge in order to set up his dream park there. However, as it turns out, the local Archeological Guild has other ideas about it, banning any kind of permanent construction on the site until it has been duly processed (read: completely turned over) to ensure there are no hidden ruins or treasures of untold historical value beneath the soil. They are also unable to provide any workers, so Antelmo took it upon himself to 'hire' some from among the City populace.
Are you interested in helping a poor ungulate out and getting some trinkets in the process?

Rules:
- A player must make at least 1 roleplay post to dig up a designated square on the map per 2 days.
They may keep roleplaying for the duration, though only the first post counts towards an event.
- A player may claim only 1 square at a time unless they have a creature with them.
If someone has already claimed a square, you must choose a different one.
- A player may bring any items along that they would like.
- Should a player have more than one character account, they may only use one of them per 2 days.
They may switch characters in between the 2 day deadline as they wish, but neither finds nor points are otherwise transferable.
- A player may have a maximum of 1 creature accompanying them for this event, however it may not be any larger than Halfbreed Size 3.
In addition, any creature brought along must be at least Loyalty 10 AND either:
- Know Dig, Burrow or Search on command OR - Have Cunning 5+ and understand their owner
A creature allows the player to dig 1 more square per 2 days.
- It helps if the player also includes a link to their character sheet in their very first post.
- The ‘2 day’ cycle counts as two 24-hour periods starting from when the timezone post is made in the thread.
- Each square dug rewards you with 1 point towards your tally, while consecutive days may reward bonus points.
- Any trinkets that you find you may permanently (and officially) keep, or trade in for points at the Booth.
All trinkets on your person must be kept track off in a Spoiler tag in your posts, which is you effective "Inventory".
- A trinket is worth 20 points if traded, while coins range from 3-15 points depending on rarity.

~ The Maps ~ (click for larger size)

The first plot of land is a measly one, but Antelmo needs to clear some space so at least some things can be placed somewhere other than the sidewalk.
It's a good way to warm up, he figured, and not too terribly frightening, one can hope.
Found:
The second plot of land is a more size-able one, where the booths and promenades would have parked themselves in an alternate history.
As it stands, it needs a right good muss-up before anything can be built here.
Found:
The last bit of land is what remains of the rest of the lot. Plenty of space for would-be rides, carousels and games of all kinds!
..Assuming, of course, it doesn't hide some ancient ruins under it, or something.

~ The Trinket Booth ~
It's not an easy thing, to balance a cupboard, table, chair and basket on uneven ground, but the ungulate has experience in on-the-road travelling and for now the surfaces are stable. And a good thing too, for if the items on those shelves were smashed to bits because of something merely falling over, it would be a right good tragedy (and just downright costly).
Here you may trade in your trinkets and coins for bonus points, or use your points to purchase prizes.
Artful Sculpture Fine wires and delicate mesh combine into a latticework of mastery. Slightly magnetic. Notes: Limit two per player.Cost: 10 points
Beautiful Tray Thin as a sheet of paper yet marred none, this artful dish is not intended for food. Slightly magnetic. Notes: Limit two per player. Cost: 10 points

Masterful Crystal A carefully sculpted latticework helps keep these beautiful crystals seemingly afloat. Slightly magnetic. Notes: Limit two per player. Cost: 10 points
Winter Goodie Bag Slightly cold to the touch, this goodie bag looks like it might have some fun toys and candy inside! Not at all magnetic. Notes: Opened manually. Cost: 2 points
Fairgrounds VSC Voucher It took some convincing (and a lot of paperwork) but the scientists eventually agreed on a deal. Notes: Species needs to be designated on purchase (Otherwise will be chosen randomly). Cost: 40 points

Timezone Stamp
Use the timestamp of this post to calculate your 2-day period by using the double 24-hours system: If the timestamp for this post is Oct. 10, 8:00 PM, then the 'new' round for events begins after Oct. 12, 8:00 PM. Any posts before that will count towards the previous event, any posts after towards the new one.
Happy digging~

An archaeological dig wasn't the first thing that came to mind when San thought about odd jobs to take around the city, but the opportunity had aligned with an opening in his schedule, and digging was easy enough. He had half entertained the thought of signing up for the days when Seveth would be awake as well, but he knew realistically that doing so would only invite trouble. He was growing familiar, by now, with the fact that Seveth had no idea how to do even simple manual labor, and he was just as likely to wake up the next day with injured hands and a tirade of complaints written in chicken scratch scrawl spotted with blood. A wordless gesture at the edge of his vision diverted his attention, and he followed in the direction that Rei had indicated. They came to an expanse of dirt where some participants were already digging.

There hadn't been a great deal of instruction, and after watching the others for a few moments, San came to the conclusion that they were just supposed to pick a spot and start digging. He slid down a shallow slope and started on the closest patch of unturned dirt he could find, sinking the shovel into the soil methodically. It didn't take him long to work up a rhythm.
Rei stayed in the air, keeping watch for anything that might look interesting or valuable. Neither of them knew what to expect to find; archaeology as a general subject hadn't come up much in their previous line of work. But it was easier for San to focus on digging if he didn't have to split his focus, and anyway Rei's eyes were sharper than his own. He trusted her to catch it if they managed to unearth something while they were here.

Ashe Ashe was always looking to do side quests and the like, so when word reached him of a dig happening, and especially word of 'you get to keep what you find,' Ashe couldn't resist. He and Inyala were always up for trying new things and today - they would try digging for buried treasure! This wouldn't be much different than digging in the mines, except they would be up in the fresh air and sunshine. Ashe enjoyed the darkness down below, but he didn't like the musty, stale smells that came from the mines. This would be nice. And hey, when they finished this, it sounded like something was going to be built here. He wasn't sure what... But again, new things were great. He saw there were already a couple of people there digging, people Ashe didn't know... Maybe he should start his social game again, there were getting to be too many faces! He chose a spot for himself and Inyala, and drove the blade into the dirt, breaking ground. [Square 45]

Inyala hopped off of Ashe's shoulder. She saw what he was doing, and knew what he was doing, and she figured she could help. This wouldn't be like in the Canyon mines, when Ashe forbade her from helping (Santiago had a more reckless way of mining!) and she helped him all the time in the city mines! She quickly got her hands dirty, digging up dirt, her arms moving rapidly. She wasn't much help in comparison to the shovel itself, but she was better than nothing! Soon she and Ashe had their original square cleared out, and they moved onto the next, where they repeated the process. Ashe chose the square, broke ground, and together they made the hole wider, bigger, and deeper. Ashe was determined to find something, even if it was worthless. There was a certain thrill to finding something and that's what they were all here for, surely. He just hoped it wasn't going to be a race... All someone needed was a vulticus to win that.

They wanted to build a fairground, huh? Sevyrn rarely wandered towards this part of the city - too far away and she never had the need - but it seemed that she had chosen the right day to take a stroll. A beast that stood around knee height followed beside her - one of her most loyal creatures and long-time companions, a ghaenelt by the name of Bez. Curiously she wandered in to the site, made idle chatter with someone in charge a out what was going on. Some kind of archeological dig to clear the site out for future construction, huh? And they could keep anything that they found? "What do you think?" She asked the ghaenelt as she crouched down to his height, and Bez chattered towards her in return. He seemed excited (though probably unaware of what was actually going on) and the young woman took that as all the convincing that she needed. Time to get to work! [Square 39]

The ghaenelt watched his girl with curious eyes as her shovel broke through the dirt - he'd accompanied her in to the tunnels of the mines many a time and the familiarity of this was peaceful to the beast. It wasn't long after Sevyrn had started to dig, a couple thrusts of her weight on to the handle to break through dirt, that she stopped to look towards her companion.
"Hey, you know how to help me dig!" She said to him, smile on her face. She'd turned Bez in to a fantastic mining companion after all, though as of late he got little chance to use those skills. "Why don't you help me out? Dig over there, and see if you can find anything?" She pointed to a spot near by and the ghaenelt knew what to do. Happy to help his girl out, his sharp class began to break through the hard dirt and rock.

Silver Kylma - Quilusine Crossbreed Level: 8.4, Loyalty: 10.4 Cunning: 4 Stamina: 2 Strength: 1 Resistance: 0 Dexterity: 2 Mentality: 0 Special Abilities: Cold Resistance, Thorny Body Moves: Bite, Dig (3) Items + Equipment in Profile Silver often wandered through the city with little purpose, and they had come across a project of some sort. Digging? Well they knew how to dig, sort of, but they didn't have anything on them to help them speed up the process. As much as they wouldn't mind sitting in the dirt clawing at it with their bare hands, they figured that they should probably take some time to prepare. They wandered back home again, picked up a creature they knew loved digging and some supplies, then made their way back again. "Ok, well, I guess we just have to, ah, pick a spot..." Silver said, looking at the huge plot of dirt before them. There were people peppered here and there, so they would have to find somewhere nice and quiet for themselves and Kylma. How hard could that be? Kylma was excited by everything going on, and he began to wiggle as a sign that he wanted to be let free. [129.25, 8.5] [Square 26]

"Oh! Do you want to get started, do you?" Silver asked with a grin. "Alright then, why don't you pick a spot?"
Silver set Kylma on the ground and let him sniff around for a moment to figure things out. Then they followed him as he meandered this way and that in no particular hurry. They watched as more than one person showed up and got started right away, but they didn't mind taking their time.
Eventually, Kylma began to scratch at the dirt. Did he find something or just like the smell? Well whatever the case, Silver figured it was a good sign, and they chose the little hill he was standing on as their excavation point.
"Good job, Ky," Silver cooed. They gave him a little bit of treat they had been holding for that purpose. "Ok Ky, dig. You got that? Dig!" Kylma loved to dig, so he was immediately excited when he was given permission to do so. He raked his small claws through the dirt, making surprisingly good progress for such a little guy.

Ah, the Fairgrounds! Lethalia remembered it only when she passed by another poster plastered up for it, though it'd been years since the last. There had been so much else going on she hadn't given the forgotten project much thought, only little forlorn looks when she passed by the empty lot in town. She was of the same mindset as she was last year - a fair grounds was exactly what this city needed! If the project was being taken up again, she'd do anything to help usher in a little bit of home around here. Walking onto the dusty fairgrounds brought about a familiar nostalgic buzz, with the bustle of others weighted with shovels and picks rather than merry carnival goers. Their grit and the dust couldn't dampen the garish nature of the few tents pitched, and they brought an immediate smile to the satyr's face. She could swear Estelle was clever enough to remember times when this was their everyday life, the way the faeron lit up too. Looking over each shoulder to ensure nobody else had their eye on her choice, Lethalia planted her shovel in a square spot sectioned off with twine. |Lethalia digs plot 28|

""m diggin this'un, 'f y'wanna help-" Leth started, but her faeron was way ahead of her. All it took as the satyr leaning over to set their lantern down on the plot for Estelle to launch herself off of the backpack. "-shiny searchin'. Aight, guess y'know what'cha doing..." she trailed off again, unsure as the fae sailed far beyond what the satyr had expected with puffs of glitter trailing in her wake. Estelle lit upon a seemingly random square across the field, and Lethalia waved hastily to those in her path in case the creature had cut anybody off along the way. Whatever the little shit thought she had found, it had better be worth the trouble she was to take anywhere! She was always smart, but now that she was climbing into her teen years she was clever enough to make herself as much trouble as a humanoid teen. The sass was all the same, so Leth just rolled her shoulders and returned her attention to her own plot of land to churn over. More than likely she'd hear if Estelle offended someone while her back was turned. |Estelle searches plot 13|

Leafy Naieth Level: 66 Loyalty: 71 Stats: Cunning: 5 Power Levels: 3 Stamina: 1 Strength: 1 Resistance: 2 Dexterity: 4 Mentality: 7 Special Abilities: Glide, Bioluminescence, Mechanical Mind, Magical Touch Moves: Dig, Spectral Bite, Shadow Meld Learned Abilities: Glide (2), Empathetic Link Learned Moves: Dig (3), Spectral Bite (4), Shadow Meld (8) Tricks: Name (1), Come (1), Follow (1), Stay (1), No (1) Items: Back to the grind. Leafy had brought her digging friend Naieth to help her move things forward at the fairgrounds. If there was a possibility of treasure to be found the girl was certainly determined to find it. She had been here before, but couldn’t remember why she had left. Did she have treasure from being here before? Maybe she had misplaced it. Either way, she needed to do her best to find some more. There were more people present than she might have liked, but that just served to fuel her competitive spirit. After all, what good was treasure if one didn’t have to work hard for it? She quickly moved to an area that was free from other diggers. After all, it wouldn’t be allowed to dig on top of anyone else. She picked a spot and gestured for Naieth to go scout out her own place. She had brought her mining tools along to aid things and Leafy used them to start digging. [Square 21]
