The next time the lepus had come to visit the breeding centre was quite different to the first. In as much as the first could have set a certain level of expectations, from lack of further experiences to inform it. Though the more deciding factor of the evaluation was this visit had an agreeable partnership regarding the pachee. It appeared there were other persons with a taste for botany, particularly that which came in living form. Indeed, the pachee seemed tailor-made for such pursuits, when one accounted for their quite astonishing ability to obtain and apply features through their breeding. Following the initial attempt, he had inquired further and discovered there to have been a circle of breeders, in fact, each with their rather unique creations.
An invitation had been sent out to one such, with an offer, and it was quite a pleasant surprise when the offer had been accepted. Thus the lepus had returned to the centre with only Baume, who explored the confines of the breeding room with much interest. The lepus himself awaited outside the room, in finer dress, observing through the window as he leaned upon the walking cane.

A few months had passed since Nadia had last come to the breeding centre with pachee, and she was excited to be returning. Hoards of houluh pups had been keeping her busy, leaving her with little time to think about her plant critters; she'd missed the pleasure of spending time with likeminded folk who enjoyed them, and so once a proposal of a match had been made, she was quick to accept. The only concern was the anxiety first meetings brought to her. Though everyone she'd met with had been perfectly pleasant, it was not a guarantee - she had to take a deep breath between checking in at the reception desk and heading to the designated room. Jelly wiggled in her arms, looking up at her questioningly. "Ah... Evainmoire?" There was someone stood outside, and she thought it safe to assume it would be her partner. She offered a timid smile. "I am Nadia, a-and this is Jelly. Delighted to meet you." [2]

In truth the lepus had no expectations as to who to meet. The letter offered only insight as to the pachee, thus a small oversight as to the respective owner may have been grounds for an issue. However, the concern received a quick dismissal when the breeding partner arrived. At his name, the tall ear moved towards the call, before he, too, turned to greet the young woman. "Good day, miss Nadia." The lepus reached for his top hat and lifted it as a means of welcome. "I am indeed mister Pholier, and it is, likewise, a pleasure to meet you."
The woman appeared to have been carrying the pachee that would be partnered with his own, though the creature did not appear too comfortable in such a hold. How far they had traversed in such manner would have been difficult to ascertain. To such ends, the lepus took some steps back to clear the way to the entrance of the room, "Do you require assistance with.. Jelly, was it?" How peculiar to name a creature after food.. though, it appeared perhaps a far more apt moniker than most, as the pachee himself appeared quite food-like. Within the room, Baume had caught wind of a commotion and ceased her search of the room, instead focusing in on the sounds from beyond it.

Mr. Pholier was… nothing like any breeding partner Nadia had met before. Yet, by being different, he matched her expectations perfectly. The diversity amongst those she had connected with failed to surprise her any more, even if some of the more outlandish ones made her nervous. The gentleman in question appeared perfectly normal, so there was no need to get quite as frantic as usual, at least for the moment. “Oh, no, thank you,” she replied to his kind offer of help, hoisting the squirming bundle of fur a little higher in her arms. “Jelly is… boisterous, but nothing I cannot handle—“ That being said, he did give her enough trouble for her to struggle with getting him through the door. Thankfully, he was about to get what he was after. Sweet freedom! The second his paws touched solid ground, he was hastening to scamper away— Another pachee…? Jelly stood up on his back legs and stared. [4]

"Very well," the tall lepus nodded with a polite smile. In truth, his options towards assistance was likewise limited, though by no means exhausted. The older gentleman stood with hands resting on a walking cane that was not out of the ordinary for many echelons of the city's gentry. However, a sharper inspection would have still betrayed the posture as favouring one leg over the other to rest one's weight onto. This, perhaps, was evidence of a physicality which was not too well suited for the pursuit of escapee pachee.
And yet there was a faint luminance to the white of the fur, quite arcane in nature, that suggested brute strength was not always the necessarily solution. "I do hope the journey over was not too troublesome," he offered, by means of starting a conversation.
Within the room, Baume took time to observe the unusual addition to this enclosure. Distantly, she was aware of other pachee that came in quite astonishing coats, though for specific reasons the males and females had been kept within separate areas within the garden. There was a curious approach to her demeanour, a fascination at the odd colourful speckles across this one's body. But also a caution, as it seemed the male was unsure in his own disposition, and she didn't wish to startle him further.

Jelly had never seen another pachee who looked quite like this one. Many of his playmates' pelts were muted colours, browns or greens, something natural. The female before him stood out simply for being blue. It was fascinating! His tail wiggled as he plucked up the courage to sidle closer, cocking his head slightly to one side. Nadia watched silently for a few moments. Those beginning moments always served to make her nervous; pachee were by no means aggressive creatures, and never had she seen them fight, but she supposed anything to be possible under the right circumstances. Hence, she was negligent in giving a timely response to Evainmoire's question. "Hm...? O-oh, pardon me, sir," She said once she'd snapped back to reality, turning her gaze back to her partner. "Just ensuring nothing goes awry... the journey was perfectly pleasant. Nothing to worry about, I guarantee." It had been too long since she'd had to remember how to exchange pleasantries. "I... um... do you-- do you have many pachee?" [6]

The polite smile never faded, and seemed instead to gain a sense of mild bemusement. The lepus could tell she was trying, and appreciated the effort spent, given the general experience within the City was often counterwise. "Quite alright, miss" the hand made a small calming motion, "I should hope the encounter goes over well. I have yet to see Baume react to anything unfamiliar in an untoward manner." This was, of course, not to say there would never be a first, but his research into the animals seemed to showcase a favouritism towards pacifism more than territorialism.
To her question, the look changed pensive a moment. "I suppose that would largely hinge on what one considers to be many. In terms of ones bred, only a few. A large part of the stock came from the pollen program, perhaps twenty in total."
Inside the room, Baume seemed to relax, as this stranger livened. They did not appear quite so startled after all! She sat up as he approached, the curiosity getting better as one paw extended towards those bright speckles on his body, as if to confirm they were (or weren't) in fact some form of physical confectionary as opposed to a marking.

The most amusing part of the situation was that Jelly appeared to be just as intrigued by his markings as Baume was. He looked down at the speckles with wide eyes, petting over them with his own paw; yes, they were a part of him, as strange and tasty as they looked. He'd not really stared at them until that moment. But the female was more than welcome to touch. He would quite like it, in fact! "Twenty?" Twenty of anything was a decent number, but of critters... Nadia had no room to speak on the topic, however, considering her growing pack of houluh puppies. The howling once they all set each other off was enough to drive someone to insanity. "My goodness... I think I have perhaps ten, and they are all from breedings. I must look into the pollen project, however... I have heard it has given some interesting results." [8]

The lepus' brows did lightly arch, as she mentioned her own stock. "Indeed? Then I should say you are much more proficient in managing these animals than I am, for I feel there's a great deal more work gone into breeding them, than acquiring them through the project." As he watched the pachee in the room inspect each other, or rather both inspect the very same one, the oddity of the coat certainly made quite a bit more sense. "The results from the project can be quite interesting, I admit, though your Jelly would still stand apart as a class of his own. And yet.." and the polite smile returned, "The project is quite extensive. There may yet be curiosities to discover, so I would certainly recommend to try."
Baume's paw prodded the markings and only felt fellow skin. How curious.. the touch felt normal, and yet the fascination did not abate. She would certainly wish to learn more, though for now.. The paw rose again, and tapped the male flat on the nose. There was a chitter, as if a laugh, before Baume took off in a playful run of the room.

Nadia would undoubtedly be referring to the project in future. It surprised her that something like that, so relevant to her interests, had flown under her radar; but it would not be a shock to anyone who knew her, considering her tendency to shy away from any and all unnecessary communications. She needed to get out more. That much went without saying. "Thank you, for informing me," She said with the closest thing she'd managed to a genuine, unfiltered smile. Warming up to strangers was not her strong point. "I would... quite like to see some of your pollen project pachee. Goodness, what a mouthful..." Jelly might have blushed, if he had that capacity. Baume's little pokes at his speckles were enough to make his butt wiggle with delight - he enjoyed this attention! He thought they would be fast friends! So, when a chase was proposed, he was quick to scamper after her. It wouldn't be long before the telltale thudding of his tail against the ground would signal a success. [10]
