<<A Mariner>>
Broad of chest with smooth somewhat countershaded grey skin and the stature of a giant describing him as anything other than a mountain of a man would be disingenuous. At just over eight feet tall with the physique of a strongman and calves as big around as young saplings it’s difficult for him to go unnoticed in even the most crowded setting. A boon while traveling he’s found that his size within the limits of the city can be quite troublesome and often requires the assistance of more “diminutive” acquaintances to accomplish even the most simple of errands. While tall he possesses something of a hunch due to the presence of a large dorsal fin that erupts suddenly from his back. His hands lack the normal structure of most humanoids possessing three fingers rather than four with each finger topped with a pale nacreous nail. Despite the larger nature of each of his fingers he still doesn’t seem to have any trouble manipulating objects or writing (so long as the writing implement itself doesn’t snap of course).
While clearly well muscled his physique appears somewhat soft overall with each muscle swaddled in a layer of thick insulation giving him something of a belly.
His face is rounded and handsome with a strong jaw and nose. His eyes are the same shade of grey as a storm-tossed sea. In the true nature of an elemental his eyes change with the tides turning a brilliant blue with the high tide and returning to grey with the low tide. On the night of the full moon his eyes change color entirely to a bright and almost glowing cyan. He lacks hair both on his face and head seemingly as a racial trait rather than some sort of fashion statement. His chin sports several tubercles (not unlike those of a humpback whale) giving him the appearance of having pseudo-facial hair. Several notches below his chin denote the beginnings of ventral grooves that cover his neck and upper chest. A pearl-like growth sits in the middle of his forehead. While seemingly a mundane bauble in the light of the day, below water the pearl glows with a pale and almost mesmerizing light.
While far from fashion forward he does have a certain sense of style preferring large and loose overshirts and tunics coupled with tight fitting shorts. Generally barefoot as much as circumstances allow, he has been known to wear sandals of varying kinds when traversing the paved streets of the city.

<<Podless>>
“People shouldn’t bear the burden of life alone,” is common advice from Swell, alas he often finds himself doing just that. While social and affable enough, Swell has a hard time opening up to others and creating bonds. Whether a product of his past or simply a reflection of his somewhat othering features in a land virtually unknown to him he’s not the easiest person to get to know. It’s not because he doesn’t want to and not because he doesn’t think he’s worthy, it’s as if there’s just some sort of block. Despite this, Swell loves to be around people. He loves the mere sound of minutiae of day to day life. Sometimes when he’s feeling lonely he’ll find a corner of a park or plaza just out of sight and simply listen to the sounds of the world moving around him. Perhaps it reminds him of a time of when he too was part of a something larger, part of a community, a family.
Fascinated by magic from a young age he sought knowledge like a man dying of thirst seeking water. Countless days and nights have been spent studying the practical applications of magic eventually leading to him swallowing a water node and cementing his place amongst the arcane entities of the world. While some could argue that limiting oneself to a single element stands directly opposite the pursuit of knowledge he so champions, but his motivations remain known to only him. He has no love of having power for the sake of power, but they're still out there. They'll find him. He has to steel himself for what's to come.
Gentle and soft spoken he has a penchant for delicate things like flowers or particularly beautiful shells. Perhaps he collects beautiful things so that one day maybe he too can be considered beautiful in his own right, or some other such thought. He still remembers how beautiful they were, how full of life they'd been. Sometimes when his eyes close he can see them all as he remembers them best, others he closes his eyes and sees them as he saw them for the last time. Broken, bloodied, defiled.
