You’d met him only briefly today in the markets just before sundown, he’d noticed that you had the look of someone that had suffered more than a few misfortunates in the prior days and asked if you’d be in need of lodging for the night. While normally you’d rebuke such invitations from total strangers there was something… comforting about his presence. When asked why he trusted a stranger in his home he chuckled and responded that he felt as though he was a pretty good judge of character, and he’d be joining you a little later after he finished some odd jobs in the city.
Follow Centu all the way to its end and follow the sound of running water, you can’t miss it.
Eventually as you walked the city’s buildings grew further and further apart. The road’s pavement turned to cobbles, the cobbles to gravel, and eventually gravel turned to dirt, just how far out did this man live? You’d been walking for what felt like an eternity and began to heavily consider turning around, maybe if you were quick you’d be able to find him and give him a piece of your mind for what was surely a rude practical joke. Just as you were about to turn and the last finger of daylight began to slip beneath the horizon you heard it: running water. Quickening your pace and pushing through the undergrowth you came upon a glade and a most curious…. structure?
The home itself looked almost like a hillock save for the chimney coming out of its roof. Triangular in nature the surrounding glade had done its best to reclaim the structure, a lush carpet of grass and local flora growing over the slanted walls all the way to the stone chimney. Behind the structure there was a pond fed from a small waterfall of what presumably was a spring set on a ridge above the home. A few homely effects lie around the pond, a wash basin and board, a wooden pail for fetching water, and farther off to the side a large axe wedged into a stump for chopping wood. In the distance you can you can make out what appears to be some kind of outdoor oven in the gloom of the evening, a hurriedly constructed shelter looms over it. Darkness continues to fall and you notice the soft glow of candlelight beckoning you toward a door, you hurriedly push your way in.
The main floor appears to be a… shop? The walls are lined with shelves carrying what appear to be any number of bottles and reagents. It could be inferred that it had been some time since any of them had been touched by the fine layer of dust on most of the items. Dried herbs and flowers hang from the ceiling in aromatic bundles, more reagents perhaps? Or maybe the owner just liked the smell. Either way it caused the first floor to smell pleasant.
To the left of the entrance you can see a door cracked ever so slightly, a faint blue glow emanating from what appears to be a staircase leading to a lower level.
Right. Absolutely not.
Toward the back of the main floor there also appears to be a much more welcoming staircase lit by the soft glow of candlelight. Much better.
