This was the first time Lillai had been out of the water! What was she doing clear up here? She looked around, jumped to the side when she saw her small tree trunk limbs down in the water. She jumped again, as if trying to get away from them, but they followed. They moved. She moved them! She stared down at them, and in the process she saw her reflection! This was... her? She blinked, shook her head, stared...
Jinx snapped to attention as the second thought took the forefront. This was what a grown tat lung looked like! This was really happening. Magic, right in front of her. Why did she grow suddenly? Jinx didn't know, and obviously Lillai didn't know, seeing as she was just as startled.
"You're a tat-lung, Lillai," Jinx said. "I'd heard you started out as fish, and then became... this... But I.... Wow." She was staring just as much as Lillai herself was.
Lillai stood to her full height, taking stock of everything around her. She was elbow deep in the water, but having her head out of the water at all was a shocker. She was able to breathe just as well up here as she had underneath the surface, but she could see! And feel the breeze! She marveled at the chill, feeling it billow over her scales and through her wet mane. Her ears - yes, she even had ears now! - moved, catching sounds that she had never heard before. And Jinx's voice was much more clear than it had been. Thankfully, the magic of the ring she wore was still working.
She took a step, testing out her new limbs. She felt... heavy. Instead of being suspended in water, she was now standing on the ground. She gazed at her human, who seemed much smaller than she had previously. No more looking up at the human.
They just stared at each other. What else was there to do? Jinx was in awe at the amazing transformation, and barely able to contain her excitement. Lillai was in awe at the amazing transformation just as much, but she was hardly able to contain herself from leaping, flying, running, swimming... She felt like she was brimming with power. Her eyes widened as the urge became a little too unbearable... and she leaped into the air. Her instinct caused her to jump with confidence, even though she had never flown before. She spiraled up into the air, as if it was the most natural thing in the world. She did flips and spins and ups and downs, rolls and drops.
Jinx stared, a smile growing on her face until her face couldn't contain it anymore and her cheeks hurt. Wow! Such beauty! Such grace! Magic in the very air itself!
And at her feet, almost unnoticed... another strange egg.
Lillai ducked and weaved and flew as high as she could reach, until the air became too thin to breath. That was a little scary, almost like being a fish and being in the air too long while changing from tank to the river she had left far down below. She didn't want to feel like that again! But how do you stop going up? She stopped thinking about it and started to fall... instead of a graceful descent, she plummeted. Now her breath was taken in a different way. The wind rushed and clawed at her lungs too hard for her to breathe. It was a scary this way too!
Down below, Jinx saw there was something wrong. Something had happened to Lillai and she was coming down much faster than she should! "Lillai!" she shouted up at her. The ring glowed on her finger, brightly. "Lillai, Catch yourself! Fly! Just think about where you want to go!"
Lillai heard the familiar voice and felt a sense of calm come over her. Jinx was her friend, someone she was starting to really trust. Jinx would keep her safe. And now Jinx was telling her what to do to right herself. She tried hard to focus on what she wanted to happen, instead of what she was scared of happening. Her momentum downward began to slow, slow, slow... until she was suspended in the air, about twenty feet above Jinx herself. Lillai found she had shut her eyes tight, and now she opened them. No crash, no painful impact with the ground. And the best thing yet- she was still a dragon and could still fly! With a delighted song, she floated through the air again, this time a little slower and more horizontal than vertical. Before too long, she found herself coming in for a landing by Jinx. Her legs touched water, then sweet muddy earth.
Lillai stared down at the water, and also at her own reflection now, and tried to piece together the emotions she was feeling. She felt a lot less when she was a fish, that was for sure! But now she had things to feel about and things to do and it was all so new.
Lillai sunk down into the water until she was laying on her belly. She lowered her head and neck until just her nose and eyes were sticking out. She sighed softly, feeling her heart rate return to normal. "That was both fun and terrifying," she told Jinx. How could something like flying be both? As a fish, she hd tought it would be completely fun and liberating! So why was it scary?
"That's okay! You'll get the hang of it and learn how to control it, and you'll be darting through the skies in no time! It's a little much to try all at once. Take a break!"
Taking a break sounded like a great idea right about now. Lillai tried to relax. It was a strange sensation now, though. Her thoughts kept coming. And they were more complex than they had been previously as a fish. Thoughts, ideas, things she was wanting to do.
But something simple, so simple, happened next to distract her. She saw a splash of color, just on the shore, almost in the water. She got up and crept over to investigate it. Without focusing her thoughts on how her legs moved, it was much easier to get them to do what she wanted! She crossed over and found the egg. It was a strange thing, and she wondered where it came from. She looked up at her human, then down at the egg. Had Jinx seen this yet?
She got her answer when the girl knelt with her to investigate. "Another?!" she gasped. "This is the third one! Where are they coming from?"
But that wasn't the last one to be found, either. There was another, not too far off. Jinx hurried to gather that one up as well. First was the orange one, that looked splotched like some fish she had seen. Then the strange patterned one that looked like it was wrapped in vines. Then this latest one was a deep swirling purple, kind of like the magic Ashe used. Jinx excused herself to hurry back to the 'camp' where she had left the first egg. She scooped it up and returned, quickly, to Lillai and the growing nest of eggs. She had the strangest feeling that she should keep them all together for some reason. Were they just pretty things? Or were they going to hatch into something one day? She didn't know.
Upon her return, Lillai nudged yet another one of these eggs toward her. This one was brilliant like a pastel sunset, one whose colors had not yet reached neon bright.
And right at her feet was yet another one. This one was a shade that startled Jinx with its brilliance. Bright red and white! So bold, not soft like the others. She quite liked it! She took the current hoard to the shore, where some rays of sunshine could reach them. She arranged some rocks to make a crude nest and settled the eggs inside so they wouldn't roll, should a breeze pop up later on. She added the red one, and the one Lillai nudged her way that looked like a sunset... but Lillai was already nudging another her way. Jinx let out a soft gasp, torn between being overwhelmed and exasperated. Eggs! Eggs everywhere!
"I don't know what I'm going to do with all of these!" she confided in Lillai. She took the latest one, which put the former sunset one to shame, and set it down in the midst of the others.
Content to have something else besides herself to fuss over, Lillai just gave a light chuckle and started looking for more.

Twilight-Claw: The jewelry on tail or at the head definitely tends to be their most recognizable feature for a Mosca, and sadly their pharaoh chin piece as well. XD
Nov 13, 2023 15:21:07 GMT -6
Zenjesi: Your peanut costume is hilarious and adorable too!
Nov 13, 2023 15:14:29 GMT -6

Twilight-Claw: It still looks good on Synkka. She is a shaman Mosca I'm guessing? Its mostly the tail that makes me think of it.
Nov 13, 2023 15:00:42 GMT -6
Zenjesi: I definitely like Spectral's the most too! I sort of cheated by drawing Synkka with a cloak because I do not know how to draw feathered wings, haha ^^'
Nov 13, 2023 13:45:15 GMT -6
Twilight-Claw: Which one do you like the most out of the three you made?
Nov 13, 2023 12:09:48 GMT -6
Twilight-Claw: Thanks for that compliment! Though I know with the water it doesn't look entirely great, I love the latter one I made the most.
