Renathan had last had a successful litter from an orbaru pair during the beginning of the cooler months; all of the offspring were cute little females. There were three of them, all of them some sort of parti-colored, and he couldn't have been more pleased with how they turned out. It was enough to make him have the itch to select another pair of his orbaru to breed them, even though he didn't really have much time to take them out to the breeding center anytime soon. He scooped out a single hour during one of his days directly after work to go home, quickly perform the ritual to allow him to be away from Auburn for a day or so, and then he quickly grabs the two orbaru he'd been wanting to pair together for a while now and makes his way to the breeding center with the only extra stop made between his orbaru cottage and the breeding center being to pick up some of his produce that he nearly forgot that he wanted to test out on the orbaru.
He'd always been successful in breeding orbaru of high quality before, so why would it be any different today? He's had orbaru have shortened playdates do just fine in the past.

Admittedly, Renathan had been hoarding a few of these produce bits and bobs for a long time. He'd once stocked up on a TON of those little litter-producing berries, and though he was finally getting that number down to a manageable level, he had plenty still. In addition to that, how long had it been since he'd been informed that these radishes could be fed to Orbaru and now? He had decided to bring the pink one he had with him, in order to test it's effects. Apparently the effects were quite benign- orbaru tended to react quite well to produce of nearly all sorts so he didn't question it at all. So the mammalian selects one of those berries to hopefully produce some males (nearly all of his breedings had been all-female recently, isn't that some poor luck?) one of those berries to make the litter larger, a 'bunana' (apparently this one was quite dubious- it was glowing!) and said strange pink radish he'd been given after helping a farmer with his battle against pests.
Perhaps he should have questioned the glowing thing, at least! Instead, he holds the sack with all of the items loosely from its handles in one hand, and he carries one silky orbaru tucked beneath each elbow gently.

Amaryllis had been out for a breeding previously- but Renathan believed that he either hadn't taken little Stormie out before or that he had done it so long ago that he no longer remembered. Stormie was perhaps one of his absolute favorite orbaru, with his neat mottled undercoat and his bright colored stripes. Amaryllis was a relatively new acquisition compared to Stormie, but she was both in excellent condition and had provided Renathan with lovely kits before. He was certain that the two would get along (especially since little Stormie was very energetic but otherwise well mannered), and was at least pleased that they made the trip to the Breeding Center relatively easy on him. The pair hardly even wriggled as he walked, and it made the trip quite short in comparison to some of his other trips. Amaryllis stared quite shyly over at Stormie, who was hiding behind Renathan's torso the best he could. Both of them were quite cute- Renathan couldn't help but smile beneath his mask as he stands in front of the doors to the Breeding Center as he could see them in the mirroring of the glass doors. Amaryllis had slightly longer ears that dangled nearly to Renathan's knee, while Stormie's were ever so slightly curled at the tips.

Now the part that Renathan had already figured out was going to be the most difficult part of the day was upon him; trying to figure out how to get the door open with his hands and arms mostly full. He had the sack full of the produce that he'd brought in one hand, and though his other hand was open he didn't really have a lot of room to move that arm if he was going to keep the thankfully placid orbaru pair tucked over his hips the way that they were. Perhaps he should have grabbed critter carriers for them? He would have had an even worse time then, but at least he could safely put the little critter carriers down on the sidewalk to be able to get the door open! Just when the russet mammalian was trying to 'wing' his arm out to snag the door handle with his open palm, he realized that there was a little button on the door that allowed it to auto-open. The mammalian breathed a sigh of relief, and then managed to press the button with his elbow. He shuffled into the building as soon as the glass doors slid open enough to do so.

Amaryllis and Stormie had both been quiet up to this point, but the new smells gave the orbed fellow a pause- where Amaryllis did not seem worried. Stormie gives the faintest of shy 'boop?' noises in question, or perhaps he was simply reacting to the change in light? Renathan calms him as he steps into the lobby of the Breeding Center with a gentle half-pet (the only thing that he could manage, with his hands all full). Amaryllis does respond to Stormie's quiet little noises, however- with louder ones of her own. She really could be a screechy little creature, for an orbaru that was. What was worse was that the sound echoed back from them due to the general lobby-style thin walls, and there was no way that everyone in the facility didn't hear those noises. "Shush now, Amaryllis. You're going to wake the dead." He gently admonished her, more with his tone than anything else. The orbaru looks up at him innocently, bright green eyes showing through her thick bangs in little shreds of light. She really did have the prettiest eyes out of all of his orbaru, he felt.
Not to be outdone, Stromie also looks up at Renathan- magenta eyes much less obscured by the signature silky-orbaru drapes.

The two of them very obviously came from different stocks of orbaru. Stormie was most certainly what Renathan would assume was 'show quality'. He seemed to have had a really decent heritage. It wasn't that Amaryllis didn't- in fact Renathan knew more about her family history than Stormie's; but she did have a strange ancestry that included a Dart Orbaru- and sometimes she had some of the proclivities from Dart Orbaru that weren't quite like that of a normal silky orbaru. Either way, the little female silky orbaru had a gorgeous coat, and he felt like the two would make the most adorable multi-colored kits. The fact that he didn't have a long time that day to let them play together didn't really cross his mind. Perhaps he'd simply done too many of these in the past and was running off of pure hubris.
Renathan gently puts the pair of the orbaru on the tile whenever he got up to the front counter. "Hello there, I'm here to breed two of my Orbaru." He greets, raising a hand to wave and then reaching out for the pen whenever it was offered to him. He went to fill out the forms, but he kept an eye on the orbaru pair.

Amaryllis was pretty shy, overall- but she had nothing on Stormie. Renathan knew that Stormie had a generally shy and... For lack of a better word, loner-like personality, but he even made Amaryllis look super outgoing in comparison! As Renathan worked on the paperwork required to be able to get the room for the two silky orbaru, he watched Amaryllis try in her shy and sweet way over and over again to get Stormie to play with her. She would gently bend down and 'bow' at him, and when that didn't work she tried to inch a little closer and paw at him. Stormie would back up just enough to be out of range each time she attempted, and eventually he circled around Renathan for protection. He hid behind one of Renathan's legs and ducked his head back behind the mammalian's calf. Renathan chuckled a little as he noticed that Amaryllis took this as an invitation for a 'game' and she hid behind Renathan's other leg. The pair of them peered out at the other one every once in a while from their 'hiding places'. Stormie's tail was exposed, and whenever Amaryllis noticed it she reached out to paw at the orb at the tip of his tail.

Stormie felt something touch his tail tip, and he quickly jerked it out from under Amaryllis' paw. The female silky orbaru had her entire weight on that paw up to that point, so it pulled her stance out from beneath her weight and she went head over tail in a little lump. She made a confused 'boop?' noise once she began to get up again. Dustbunnies from beneath the lip of the customer service desk was now all over her body and in her fur. That was going to take forever to clean out! She gives Stormie's direction a defiant little 'BOOP BOO!' and then she settled down nearby Renathan, but not close enough for Stormie to interact with her, to begin cleaning all of the dustbunnies out of her curly ear and tail fluff. She could not be -less- happy with this situation; how dare the male force her to have to deal with all of this extra dust and stuff in her fur!
If Stormie even noticed that the female was frustrated, he didn't at all show it. He continued to hide behind Renathan's calf and cowered down. He didn't seem very confident in the situation at all!

Renathan finishes the paperwork in record time, and then turns in the stack as he leans down to scoop up the two orbaru. Since neither of them knew any commands, it wasn't like he could get them to follow him to go sit down in the Waiting Room as a room was prepared for them. Renathan glanced over at a clock that was on the wall and sort of blanched a little- hopefully they would get the room for the two orbaru fixed up as soon as possible, because they scarcely had fourty minutes to get this mess done, and so far it didn't seem like the orbaru were getting along as well as he would like. It was quite the odd situation, in all honesty. Renathan had never seen two orbaru not like each other as soon as they met each other like this. He hoped that he was over reacting a tad to the concerns he had with them. Whenever he found himself a seat and sat down, he glanced around the room at the other people in the room to see what kind of creatures were around. Stormie was still trying to hide from Amaryllis, even as he was tucked over Renathan's hip and under his arm.

While Stormie was sort of half 'digging' and half hiding his face in Renathan's arm, Amaryllis was very pointedly ignoring him and trying to clean the dust bunnies from her fur. She was very obviously having a very difficult time with it; since the dust bunnies were sticking to her tongue and then she was spending far more time trying to get them off of her tongue than she was spending time trying to get them out of her fur. Renathan was too distracted with staring down someone's absolutely gorgeous lotine to notice at first that Amaryllis was covered in dust, but whenever he did look down at her he blinked. "How did you get dust bunnies all over you?" He asks, his voice a tad indignant as he rummages around in his little sack. Thankfully, he had brought a brush- it wasn't uncommon for silky orbaru to get matts in their fur so he had come prepared for that- despite not being prepared for the attack of the dust bunnies. He sat Stormie in the next chair (there were more than enough chairs in the lobby for him to do it without being too rude) so that he could brush out Amaryllis' fur.

Stormie was more than happy to be given some distance from the female that Renathan had picked out to be his 'date' today, and he hid beneath one of the cushions. Only the tips of his ears could be seen hanging out from beneath the cushion. Renathan shakes his head quietly as he watches the ear tips shake. "What did you do to him, Amaryllis?" Perhaps he should have been asking what Stormie had done to her, too- it was odd that she had so much dust in her fur... He brushed her out, and Amaryllis fell quiet in her contentment. Time passed like that for a while. The russet mammalian didn't want to force the two of them to hang out too quickly, because he wasn't sure that they would get along without a natural push occurring. Even as he watched other people be called back to rooms before him, he was still quite certain that the pair would have enough time (even with his time constraints today, that were quite unfortunate!) to be able to deal with whatever had happened whenever he'd let them be for a moment so that they could produce good quality kits. He didn't question it for a moment.

Whenever someone affiliated with the Breeding Center did come back into the Lobby to pick up Renathan and the two orbaru he'd brought and bring them back to the room that had been prepared, Renathan realized that they really didn't have much time for Stormie and Amaryllis to begin getting along at all. He only really realized that the trouble would probably cause issues whenever they'd gotten back to the room and well after he'd shut the door behind him and sat down on one of the little plastic chairs that were provided for the owners of the critters to be at least sort of comfortable while they waited for the creatures to get done doing whatever sort of business they would be getting up to- and neither of the orbaru were interested in being around the other at all. "Oh... This might be a problem." He murmurs, most certainly feeling concerned by this point. In addition, he really hadn't started feeding them, either. "Oh goodness, and we haven't even gotten started on snacks!" That's when the idea hit him; perhaps he could get them to start hanging out by putting the snacks down for them to share? It had worked for other orbaru in the past.

Renathan lifts up the bag of produce that he has in his hand (and had nearly forgotten about up to this point) and he tucks the brush he still had between two of the fingers in his other hand away into the sack that was on the outside of the sack with the produce in it (he almost always double-bagged important things for trips). At this, he pulls the produce sack out of the double-bag and then holds up the first thing that he is able to lift out of it to where hopefully the orbaru could see it- it turned out to be the so-called 'male' berry. He glances over the blue and green gradient of the fleshy outer-rind until the first orbaru ran over to him (which alerted the other quite quickly to the presence of it). "Do you want some of this?" He asks, holding it out. Amaryllis raises her little paws, since she got there first, and Renathan is happy to put the berry on the ground so that the pair could share it. Immediately, the two forgot their differences, and went to share the berry.
Renathan felt the tenseness fall out of his shoulders as he saw that.

Renathan was always quite happy that Orbaru were such simple creatures. He really didn't want to have to bother with creatures that were so clever that breeding them was difficult. Sometimes Orbaru threw him for a bit of a loop, even with their simple ways. Today was one of those days. At least Amaryllis was mostly dust bunny free now, and Stormie had forgotten his relative shyness for the allure of sweet treats that he didn't normally get to get. As Renathan watched the two take apart the male berry with great speed (they acted as if he didn't feed them at all; what a mess!) he pulled the little baby berry out as well. Hopefully- and with any luck, the pair would be interested in breeding before it was time for him to go, or else this would be a huge waste. "Here you go..." He said, offering over the 'baby' berry in all of its pastel color glory. These were quite beautiful berries, all things considered. After that berry was sumarily devoured by the two silky orbaru, Renathan handed over the strange glowy banana. "This thing is so weird..." He complained, as he allowed the two to snack on it.
