As she spoke, she was unscrewing the lid of a jar that she'd snuck into her hands. The arena lights dimmed slightly, enough to easily see the glowing insects scatter from the jar when Lethalia released the cap. "Think he's agile 'nough t' deal wit' this?" |Play it up a little bit. Act. Pretend you're chasing them. The crowd will love it, I promise!|At least he was good at looking indignant something was in his airspace, because he didn't pursue with much gusto otherwise. Diving through the clouds of bugs to scatter them, Vidarr snapped at a few strays, showing how hard they'd be to shoo away. "Get 'em, Vidarr! Wrath!"Now that was more his style! The drake visibly perked, seeking out the best swath of fireflies - and whisked them away with a movement of his wing almost too quick to see. Falling 'stars' rained down to the arena floor, Vidarr's whipping winds stealing away their wings. | Lethalia releases the Jar of Fireflies | while flying, Vidarr uses Air's Wrath to fell the fireflies | Vidarr lv|150 ly|101

With that, the lights faded on and a spotlight bloomed in the center of the arena, revealing an object had been snuck in while the lights were low and attention was up high. Just a canvas sandbag, standing lopsidedly upright. "So, y'migh' notice, he's mo' a fighter 'n anythin'. I mean - drakes, am I righ'?" A few polite laughs. "Thinkin' he'd like t'show y'all more'a that!"Pointing to the sand bag, Lethalia called to her drake, "Snatch it, Vidarr!" When Vidarr whisked down low and snatched the sand bag in his claws, and managed to regain altitude with more grace in the limited stadium space, Lethalia's cheering along with the crowd was quite sincere. Phew. "Gust and pounce!" If not for practicing, Vidarr would've been confused by the request so soon after hauling something into midair. Unhooking his claws from the sand bag, sand streamed from the holes as it fell below him - followed swiftly by the bulk of a 'falling' drake. Winds whipped up by his massive wingspan hit just about the same time his bulk did, nearly hiding him in the resultant sand flurry. | Vidarr displays Snatch while flying, and lands with Pounce and Harsh Gust |

Vidarr huffed and snorted heavily (there was no graceful way to choke on sand), head still snapping to his owner as she reappeared from off to the side. She'd scurried away from his landing faster than he'd expected. The dust began to settle and Lethalia walked up to Vidarr, looking up at his looming saddle as he pondered down at her. The satyr looked down at her dress and to the saddle, over the crowd to a smattering of polite tittering from the crowd, and back to Vidarr. "Gotta' lay down fo' a proper lady get on."|Proper?!| he snorted, as if it were the funniest word he barely knew. |Yeah, now lay down, asshole.|Rumbling as if chortling to himself, the drake laid down so that she could sweep her skirts aside and hop astride. She patted his neck and gave him a quiet command once settled. Even after all the 'hard work' he'd done today, Vidarr had enough energy to put on another dash of speed to help launch himself airborne. | Vidarr displays Lay Down, Carry Rider, and his Endurance by Dashing into Flying again |

Lethalia didn't want to attribute it to her being in the saddle since a drake ought to know flying better than her, but their ascent went a bit smoother this time around with her guiding hand. Vidarr cruised into brief figure-eights and serpentine patterns she at the behest of the slight tug-and-pull of the rope. As they drew patterns in the sky, Leth commanded him higher as they circled the arena; they'd need the space to pull off the stunt she'd had in mind. Once he'd climbed comfortably high enough she held Vidarr hovering in place so that she could deal with a little something. Leth was impressed that the glass bottle tucked in a strap of his saddle was still intact when she extracted it. Shaking the auroras until they were agitated, Lethalia undid the cork and announced, "He migh' be 'jus' a drake', but I'd swear he got wind in his veins." The idea was to promote her drake, right? Auroras spilled out when Lethalia upended the bottle; she'd spent hours 'picking out' the blue ones last night (don't ask; it wasn't easy) so that only a bright green streamer which matched drake and rider remained. With that - and the reminder to herself they'd be fine, they had practiced this - she gave Vidarr's rein a tug off to the side and grinned, telling him to do a barrel roll. It looked for a moment like the drake intentionally careened towards the ground, before his wings tilted just so and he began his wide spiralling roll. Just when Lethalia's blood rushed to her head and could see the crowd for the first rotation, she commanded Vidarr to roar. Happily he filled the stands with his voice, reverberating strangely as he spiralled. Some people began closing their hands over their ears, complaining - |Silence.|- the air wavered, rung and pressed against ones' eardrums. Vidarr's roar wavered and cut off at it's cresendo; the din of the crowd died as he passed overhead. Behind the pair, a long green ribbon trailed their every movement, every corkscrew drawn out with an auroral trail. With the completion of his circut 'round the stands, Vidarr's silent hold on the air began to dissipate. The last echo of his rumbling voice still rung against the Hall's walls when collective hearing came back. | while flying, Vidarr displays Barrel Roll, Roar, and Silence |

"Nothin' wrong wit'cha hearin', folks! Vidarr's got 'nough command over th' air - he can silence it!" Speaking after Vidarr's deafening skill, her voice was jarringly loud to her own ears. |Great job, buddy!| Lethalia commended, slapping the drake's shoulder as they both caught their breath. After that many spins in a row, Leth wasn't sure she was ever going to see straight again. |Let's dive! Finish this up.| There was enough aurora left in the bottle that Vidarr gained an additional tail as he tucked his wings and streaked towards the ground, a bright green glow tracing his arc out of the sky. It appeared that they were gaining too fast, sure enough on a collision course with the ground. At the last moment he could, Vidarr's wings flared and thundered with the air caught within them. Slowed down enough, a few flaps and the drake landed tidily on all fours, mantling his wings. "Thank y'all for appreciatin' Vidarr!" the satyr bid with a wave. She could've sworn Vidarr seemed disappointed by being done showing off when she directed him to the way out. | Vidarr displays Dive into a Landing | fin | Vidarr lv|151 ly|102

Jade, Offspring Mosca Level: 9 | Loyalty: 9 Stamina: 4 Strength: 2 Resistance: 3 Dexterity: 7 Mentality: 4 Special Abilities: Danger Sense, Fly, Empathetic Link, Nightvision Moves: Nether Claw, Stalk, Tornado, Silence, Shadow Meld Taught: Fly (3), Silence (4) It was time to start the contest, and it wasn't clear which one of them was more nervous. Silver had competed in plenty of contests before, but they often felt nervous before they started, especially if they were with a creature who had never showed before. Jade was a lovely kitty, but like all Mosca, he was shy and Silver was concerned about him. There was no more time to put it off, however. They quickly reviewed the plan in their head, and urged Jade to follow them out into the arena. This was the flying contest, so they had to show off his aerial prowess. With a set of chimes in one hand and a glittering star in the other, they headed out into the spotlight. "Say hello to Jade!" they said in their best contest voice. They never were good at speaking to crowds, but they could fake it for just long enough to get through a show, usually. "As you may already know, Mosca are masters of the sky!" 1[139.8, 9.4]

Jade watched Silver intently, as he feared moving his eyes away from what was familiar. What were they doing here? Who were all these people? He wasn't sure, so he stood low and as close to Silver as he could manage. His wings were folded neatly at his sides, waiting to be unfurled.
"Okay Jade, you know what to do buddy," Silver said sweetly and quietly to him. They had practiced their short show enough times that he should be able to do it quickly and get out of there. "Jade, fly!" Silver said loudly for everyone to hear. They pointed at the sky for dramatic effect.
Jade wasn't sure where he was going, but he knew what this meant. He turned to Silver who quickly tucked one of the item into his paws as they left the ground, by far one of the hardest parts of the show to teach, and Jade's huge leathery wings carried him into the air.

Jade flapped his wings leisurely, as he wasn't trying to get anywhere in a hurry. The sound of him flapping was all that could be heard other than the general murmur of the crowd and hushed whispering of the judges. Silver smiled, producing a small bird out of thin air while all eyes were on Jade. Of course the bird had been hidden away for their entrance, and it was now time for it to make its appearance.
Silver released the bird into the air and watched as it flew about in chaotic, unpredictable bursts. Jade loved chasing the birds, so it was easy work to get him to do it as part of the show. The quick and agile movements of the small bird were easily matched by the lithe Mosca, and he followed it beat for beat around the show ring. They zipped all around, including a few flashed over the crowd for dramatic effect.

The tinkle of a familiar chime made Jade stop in midair. He flipped around in place and watched Silver carefully. The little dove, meanwhile, landed on their shoulder and puffed out a few exhausted breaths.
Silver held out a set of chimes and used subtle hand motions to make it look as if they were dancing in the wind. The tinkling of the chimes filled the show ring and the murmur of the crowd got louder. Jade paused for a moment, as if he had forgotten what came next. Silver only nodded at him in a gentle confirmation. 'Just like we practiced,' they thought, as if the thoughts could reach him.
Jade flapped his wings slowly and suddenly the air felt still. All of the sounds of people shuffling, the sound of breathing, the sounds of talking, and even the beating of his wings stopped in an instant. There was only the chime... until there wasn't. Even though it was clearly still flickering in the wind, the chime, too, fell silent.

The silence persisted for an uncomfortably long time, yet in no time at all, it was gone. The whispers of the crowd became increasingly loud as many voices quietly commented on what had happened. Jade looked down at Silver one more time for confirmation, and they made the silent signal for him to return.
Jade swooped down toward the ground in a loose spiral and as he descended, he dropped the glittering streamer that had been rested in his paws before. He was careful to hold his paws close to his chest so it didn't fall early and ruin the effect. As it floated toward the ground, it left a little shower of sparkling lights trail behind it. He circled around the streamer in increasingly tight circles until he eventually touched back onto the ground. He quickly bounced over to Silver's side and pressed his head against them for comfort. It was scary being up there all alone!
"Jade, everyone!" Silver said before taking a bow and exiting the ring.
