It seemed that the more that Renathan wanted to have a day off, the less chances he had to have those. The Cloud-9 was getting more and more popular by the day, and it left him with such fleeting time off that he didn't really have the time to do any of his hobbies anymore. In order to be able to do anything at all that he found fun, he had to carve out time in little chunks and try to cut corners in his personal life (since he would -never- do that to his customers). He finds another little slice of time to hopefully breed a pair of orbaru he'd been wanting to bring to the Breeding Center for some time. He cuts out from the Cloud-9 as fast as he could and practically ran to his orbaru house in order to pick up little Peachie, and an orbaru of his named Salem. They were both sort of red-panda-y, with Peachie having been the offspring of Lazare's line, and Salem being a very strange coloration of orbaru that didn't come from his custom boy- Lazare. He only had about an hour to do this, and he'd already cut seven minutes having to run home and pick them up!

Renathan already had a pair of orbaru that he'd worked with this month, and they hadn't had their kits yet. He didn't have time to consider how excited he was over the potential of those offspring as much as he would like as he quickly made his way to the Breeding Center with Peachie under one arm and Salem under the other. Peachie was a little bigger than Salem, but it was quite obvious that he was a sweetie and that Salem was a little bit on the aggressive side. Of course, 'aggressive' was perhaps a little rough of a word for an Orbaru and it was super relative. Salem was more... Aggressively Playful. She was bad about chasing other orbaru around trying to play games with them even when they didn't want to play. She was even bad about pouncing on orbaru that were trying to take naps! Renathan knew that different orbaru had completely different personalities, it was just that Salem's could be a little bit... Extreme. Peachie on the other hand was very playful and bubbly, but also very mild mannered. He often liked to climb up on top of things that other orbaru were too afraid to climb up- he was fearless!

Renathan was pretty sure that the offspring of any such union were bound to be little energetic monster daredevils, and he concludes the thought at that. Peachie is mildly going along for the ride to the Breeding Center (well, if one could call being tucked under an armpit a 'ride'). His little legs all splayed out, and he was playing absent-mindedly with the shadow his tail made. Salem, on the other hand, was more grouchy. She wanted to be let down so that she could run- run wide and free! Sure, there was a run out around her home so that she could play in the yard, but it wasn't the same! She wanted to see what all the spring flowers smelled like. They smelled like they'd taste like sugar!
The mammalian manages to make it to the Breeding Center as quickly as he could, and he could only hope that since it was on a regular work day that they would be able to get him through as quickly as possible. Hopefully there wouldn't be too many customers looking to breed orbaru there today! He didn't have a whole lot of time to wait on the orbaru, let alone the breeding center process itself.

Perhaps Renathan really should stop trying to squeeze in little batches of free time to do hobbies like Breeding Orbaru, and just give himself some specific days off and be done with it. He generally got himself in over his head in his work, and he just put more elbow grease in whenever things got tough. The problem was that he was running his body out of steam most days; and of course he often had issues with his complete lack of freetime. How long had it been since he'd been out to train Auburn? What about Lisle? He wonders about this as he waits for the person ahead of him in the line (thank goodness it was only one, and they had a lotine surprisingly enough) to get done with the process. When had he opened the door and let himself in? He couldn't exactly remember. That was what he got for trying to do this in such a short timeframe.
The Orbaru he held beneath his upper arms didn't seem too shook up from the running. Renathan tended to have a long and smooth stride with very little bumping up and down, so that probably helped quite a bit to keep them placid.

The person with the rather pampered looking (now that Renathan had a moment to catch his breath and look at the creature) Lotine finishes up the paperwork rather quickly, and it gives Renathan a moment to sit the orbaru down on the floor gently so that he really could start working on the paperwork required. "Hello! I'm here to breed two of my orbaru again." He enunciates, as he reaches out for the paperwork. The worker could clearly already see that, since he had walked up to the desk with two orbaru held (one in each arm) and had already held out the paperwork for him before he'd even finished explaining. Renathan smiles apologetically beneath his mask, despite the fact that it wouldn't be seen. Then he begins working on that paperwork as quickly as possible. The russet mammalian has probably done enough breeding center patronage paperwork to fill entire cabinets at this point, and he didn't plan to stop at any point relatively soon. He does keep an eye on the two orbaru, and thankfully Peachie has Salem distracted enough to keep her form getting into too much trouble. She was generally the kind of orbaru that one had to keep an eye on in any new environment.

Renathan tried to finish the paperwork with speed. He was already quite practiced at doing this particular paperwork (he'd done it so many times before after all!) so he was completing the work about as fast as anyone could expect. It still didn't feel like it was fast enough, even though the ink on the pages were still so wet that whenever he let the top page fall onto the one he just finished, it smudged ink all over the back of that page and made a bit of a mess. It was more of a formality than anything else, but he still felt a little bad about it. Like getting the paperwork done any faster would make sure that there was a room made up as soon as possible for the two orbaru anyway. That seemed to take about the same amount of time each time he waited, save for times whenever there were a lot of orbaru breeders in at the same time. Thankfully, as Renathan began to gather Peachie and Salem back up again, he notices that there aren't any people waiting in the waiting room at the moment either. That would hopefully mean that he'd be up next!

Renathan doesn't waste time looking for a good seat and instead sits in the nearest one. It looks like the seams of it on one side have been picked at, and normally he'd avoid the most obvious seat choices like the plague. It wasn't uncommon for him to have to wait in the waiting room for a good amount of time and one needed the best comfort they could manage at that. Usually he tried to avoid sitting near people as well. But today he didn't have to worry about either one of those things, so he took said seem-picked seat and sat both of the orbaru down into the seat next to him (since the waiting room was otherwise unoccupied and he wasn't being rude to anyone by taking up a seat). Peachie makes a little near exaggerated 'boof' noise whenever his hind legs hit the seat, but Salem does nothing of the sort. Nearly as soon as she is down again she hops into the seat on the other side of the one she'd been placed in, and upon realizing that she could see Peachie through the hole underneath the arch of the cheap chair's arm, she reaches under it with a paw and begins smacking at the leatherette right next to Peachie... Loudly.

If that annoyed Renathan, he didn't show it. He controlled his ear trajectory to make sure that he was focused on the sounds that would come from a Breeding Center worker coming down the hallway from the back rooms. That was one of the best things about having long ears- being able to twist around to check for noises that were mostly behind the body. He was able to keep an eye on Salem (who was already being aggressive in her forceful sense of play) and the much shier Peachie while also trying to be ready for whenever a Breeding Center worker came their way. He really didn't have enough time to mess around... He glances up at the clock and winces... If the one on the wall was accurate, he really didn't have a bit more than thirty minutes to spare at all. Hopefully the orbaru would be quick once a room was provided so that he could get back to work with about thirty minutes of allowance after that- though they were really worried that they would get a late rush at work while he wasn't there and that he wouldn't be there to help... That was why he tended to overwork himself so badly.

Time ticked by and Renathan felt oddly tortured by it. If he had to wait too long, he would have to leave before Peachie and Salem had a chance to play for long enough to get used to each other, and that would be a bad thing. So far, he'd never had offspring Orbaru come out less than fully formed, but it was a common occurrence that he'd heard about before. Said unformed orbaru were quite cute, but he did pride himself on not having produced any up to this point from his pairs. That supposedly meant that the orbaru were well taken care of and happy when they produced kits, and though something about that sounded ridiculous Renathan wasn't one to question it. His own expertise was in art, not in science (though he wasn't completely clueless on such subjects, they just weren't his jam) and he didn't really feel the need to question how the Labs released information. Most of the people probably wouldn't get anything too detailed, so he didn't see a reason for anyone to call for it to be changed. Besides, he didn't have any evidence to the contrary at the moment, did he? Watching Peachie and Salem interact gave him some odd vibes that maybe they didn't get along the best- so perhaps he'd get to see.

It wasn't that Salem seemed to hate Peachie, or even that Peachie seemed to hate Salem. In fact, that got along on the surface level like any two orbaru could- or at least that was what he thought someone else would see with a less trained eye. However, Renathan had been working with Orbaru for a long time. That long experience timeframe gave him a different set of eyes when it came to noting how they acted, and it was easy to see that Salem was trying too hard to engage Peachie, and it would seem that Peachie was woefully unprepared for such robust play. He seemed to prefer resting, and then small slow games- not anything like the rough play that Salem seemed to want to present. Peachie kept looking back at Renathan as if the russet mammalian would save him from the rambunctious female, and Renathan shrugged at him out of habit. "No can do, Peachie. She's your date for the day." He murmurs to the brown orbaru, even as he blinks his big pink eyes at him. Salem flicks her tail back and forth and 'bows' at Peachie almost like a canid would. She practically had her eyes slitted at him as she concentrated on playing.

Renathan had known that Salem was a bit on the excitable side, but it would seem that she might be one of those 'bully' orbaru that tried to force the other orbaru to play specific games with them that the others would probably only do sparingly (high octane games like chase or wrestling that most orbaru seemed to avoid). Peachie's heritage would seem to imply that he would love high-octane games himself, but he didn't. Instead, after a few particularly rough attempts for Salem to 'get' his tail orb or ear curls from the other side of the chair's arm, he climbs up onto the chair arm and then climbs onto the back of the chair to be rid of her, looking down after her and only just barely keeping his ear curls away from her. He once again looks at Renathan as if he expects him to save him from her, and he looks really miserable. Renathan feels bad for a moment- perhaps this pair was doomed from the start. "Peachie, at least try." He murmurs, knowing that the creature couldn't understand him but feeling the need to 'make conversation' since there was no one else in the waiting room.

Peachie really doesn't want to be anywhere near her; he seems obviously very shy and overwhelmed with how playful Salem was. Salem was really confused as to why her friend didn't want to play with her though! She hardly ever got to see him, since he preferred high places and she was very scared of them- but she still wanted to be able to play with him! She wanted to play with every orbaru in the house, and most of them didn't seem to want anything to do with her! It was really very sad, she thought- but perhaps today would be the day that she turned all of that around. She immediately hops over the barrier between them that was the little arm of the squatty chair she was sitting in and into the one that he had been sitting in and then she tried to lean up and play with his ears. Why was he playing so hard to get? She really just wanted to race him... And well, maybe pounce and wrestle a little bit. The other orbaru never liked it when she did that, but why not? She enjoyed it whenever she got the chance to have an active participant. The whole time that really large thing that gave her food often stared her down- what with it's weird white face.

She did not allow the individual to daunt her from trying to pester Peachie. Come here! She tried to emote to him. I Just Want to Play With You! She practically screams it. Peachie crouches and tries to make himself as small as he could up against Renathan's shoulder on the chair back. Salem practically chases him into the corner. "Hey Salem, calm down!" Renathan murmured, reaching out for her and patted her back as he held her on his knees. "You're being a mess, look at Peachie, he's terrified of you." He said. That was a worry, for sure. He tried to soothe her to hopefully quell some of that energy. He would have grabbed for Peachie to soothe him instead, but he was very worried that Salem would have just jumped into his lap and bothered the poor orbaru while he was trying to calm him down. This just wouldn't do! How was he supposed to get them to like each other during such a small amount of time?
He didn't get to agonize about it for long, because he immediately heard someone coming up behind him- and it sounded like one of the Breeding Center workers. Thank goodness, he thought.

Renathan quickly moves to stand (because he didn't hear the front doors of the Breeding Center open, so it had to be a worker coming to retrieve them- since He was the only one here after all! He didn't even think for a moment that it might be the Lotine Breeder from earlier) and he quickly maneuvers Salem beneath one arm and he scoops up Peachie with the other arm. Salem tries to bat at Peachie and Peachie tries very hard to hide behind Renathan's shoulder shroud and away from the female. Renathan greets the Breeding Center worker that then lead them back towards the rooms. Renathan really only had about fifteen minutes left to be here, and so far it looked like Peachie and Salem might not even get along for long enough to breed. That would be trouble... He had one last trick up his sleeve; he often noticed that orbaru tended to get along much better after sharing a meal and he had brought a single berry for them just in case. He hoped it would be enough to fix the sticky situation he was currently in. Renathan couldn't help but worry about it as he was lead back to the door for the room.
