Morning came early for Xandrew like usual. He feed his critters quickly before calling to Bigmouth to come along. The little Noctis still looked sleepy even though it had napped quite heavily the day before and also had rested for the night. Xandrew called his name again while holding out a large white-yellow grub. The little Noctis spotted the grub and moved quickly underneath Xandrew's hand opening his mouth wide expectantly. The corners of Xandrew's mouth were wide and happily curved as he dropped the fat squirming grub into the gapping maw. Bigmouth smacked and made a jig back and forth on his tiny legs. His eyes narrowed and the corner of his lip let his tongue hang out sloppily which he used to messily lick whatever grubbiness he could from Xandrew's hand. Xandrew chuckled but was startled when the little Noctis went to nip his hand. Pulling away, Xandrew said "No, bad Bigmouth!"
Begin Training: No Bites

Bigmouth tilted his head to the side confused and trotted off a few feet. "Come on Bigmouth. We are off to the park again before it gets too hot. I think its going to be a real steamer today." Bigmouth started following Xandrew, but it clearly had no idea what he was saying though it didn't stop him from giving Xandrew a big dumb cute smile. The walk to the park was a short jaunt. It was becoming easier for Xandrew to find his way around town. The first few days that he attempted to find anything, even with help from friendly locals, took him a great deal of time since he had always been easily confused with directions. Xandrew knew that he'd never make a great navigator, and he would defer to others on such matters. Xandrew looked around and realized he must have been distracted or daydreaming, because he clearly wasn't where he had intended to be. Bigmouth yawned. Walking over to a nearby street vendor's cart, he began salivating at the smell and sight of the succulent meats that the vendor was grilling. A wrack held a handful of cooling skewered meats and vegetables, which the little Noctis had began to try to put into his mouth. Xandrew turned around just in time to see what was happening and called over to Bigmouth. "Bigmouth, no come here!"

Xandrew looked at the street sign and pulled out a little folded map. He studied the creased paper for a few minutes before his eyes widened with realization. Xandrew had walked 20 minutes right past the front entrance of the park. Studying the map again for a minute more, he decided it would be quicker to continue down this way and turn, which would lead him into a side entrance. Bigmouth looked up at Xandrew with his big eyes while letting out a low gargling sound deep inside his throat. Xandrew reached inside a small satchel that was hanging from his shoulder with his left hand. Removing a plump grub from inside, he held it up over Bigmouth. "No bites this time." Bigmouth gobbled the grub down swiftly in common fashion. Xandrew was looking at the map once again distracted with his left hand hanging at his side. He felt a sharp pain that he pulled away from.
He looked down at his throbbing hand as red trickled down his fingers and fell to the ground. Xandrew looked at the seeming wellspring of blood that seeped from the bite between his index and middle fingers. "Ow buddy. That smarts." Xandrew pulled out a canteen of fresh water and began to pour it slowly over his hand and wound to wash away the accumulated blood. "You have to watch it buddy. It hurts when you bite me or anyone else for that matter." Xandrew motioned around with his bitten hand. Bigmouth tilted his head quizzically. It was apparent that he did not understand what was being said, but Xandrew hoped that the meaning was still clear enough from the inflection of his voice and the clear pain that the bite had caused. Xandrew had confidence that Bigmouth had learned an important lesson today, even if he learned nothing else.
Xandrew finished tending to his hand and looked down at the little Noctis. He stood there in an obvious state of despair. "Do not worry buddy. It will heal." Xandrew bent down and petted the Noctis' head gently. Bigmouth cooed slightly and perked up at Xandrew's soothing speech and continued petting. "Let us be on our way then." Xandrew started moving forward once again with the little Noctis staying close on his heel. Xandrew and Bigmouth found the gate and entered without anymore drama. The same genteel grandmother that Xandrew had seen the previous day was watching her granddaughter play. Sitting on a bench, she paid attention to make sure the little girl did not stray too far. Xandrew kept moving along the path and upon walking past her he smiled and waved. The grandmother squinted her eyes in realization and then began looking around to find her tiny charge.
The grandmother leaned forward and gasped. Xandrew turned around and saw what she was looking at. The little girl had spotted Bigmouth and had started petting his head. "You have such BIG eyes," she giggled. A small knot seemed to form in Xandrew's stomach, but it quickly began to subside as Xandrew observed Bigmouth look toward him in expectation. "That is a good boy, Bigmouth." The girl laughed again and said, "Bigmouth?! His name should be Giantmouth or maybe Kissyface! He is so cute." The girl reached around Bigmouth and hugged him. The grandmother had regained her composure and resumed a relaxed position on the bench. "You have a well cute, well behaved pet there." Xandrew met the compliment with a grin. "Thank you." Xandrew had his hand in his pocket to keep her mind at ease. "He is coming right along." Bigmouth seemed to relax and began cooing at the attention he was getting.
Darky: I may have looked into things before.. x3

Riku: I love it when you walk into a room like "Oh, ye, hear thine wisdom." <3 It never ceases to amaze me.
Jul 3, 2020 4:10:33 GMT -6
Darky: From what I've looked at things over the years, both sides are actually correct: the elements do need some fleshing out, but they are also very much their own types of style/flavour/effect as well. Still, one doesn't have to compromise the other x3

Riku: I think Morgan's attempt was less of a "do this now plz?" and more of a "Can we simply acknowledge that this is where we eventually want to go?" -shrug- // Congrats to the agility winners! <3

Riku: For instance, elements can be perceived different than usual. Like Shadow not being evil, or acid being direct and immediate harsh damage rather than a DOT. Things can also get interesting when you mix elements. So imagine a DOT cold move, etc.
Jul 2, 2020 21:33:19 GMT -6
Riku: I also came to the conclusion about every element having the different techs, but like mentioned it would be a massive overhaul so I just didn't mention it. lol I do feel like elements should be more flavor than technique, therefore all having all techs.
Jul 2, 2020 21:30:49 GMT -6
Morgan: I wish I could thumbs-up a cboxpost. /laugh/ If the nerf goes through, they could be made NRS and nerfed down to the other similar moves. But this was just the heart of my first suggestion here, I was hoping to make more as time goes on.
Jul 2, 2020 20:01:13 GMT -6
Haix: We have moves like deluge/harsh gust that cost 7/8 tp, deal 10 fit damage, but lack the NRS modifier that would make them as powerful. Maybe they could be altered slightly to be on a similar level as they have the same cost?
Jul 2, 2020 19:59:20 GMT -6
Morgan: You're right, they're not suited for the only fighting we've ever had on site up to this point.
Jul 2, 2020 19:59:14 GMT -6
Morgan: I agree, but we definitely Do Not Have Those at the moment.
Jul 2, 2020 19:58:55 GMT -6
Aster: Mmm, I dunno if they're not 'good' so much as not really suited for the only type of fighting we have access to, which is one on one. I think the metagame would be pretty different with like, the boss battle type fights Skylark had been workshopping before
Jul 2, 2020 19:58:07 GMT -6
Morgan: I know that curses/poisons are a thing, but there's a reason no one uses those. They aren't technically... Good. (Not with fltnrs10 around. While someone is trying to drain the person's stuff, which doesn't work with hardy anyway, the fltnrs10 kills.)
Jul 2, 2020 19:54:14 GMT -6
Morgan: And if it isn't overpowered for one element to have the tech, then it shouldn't be for others (obvious exception is physical) because the same rules go for all resistances/immunities save for physical. Nothing was meant to be resistant to every element.
Jul 2, 2020 19:51:51 GMT -6
Morgan: Doing it in pieces would be best, because other than spirit's little blurbs (which we've changed other things before for the good of the site) the elements aren't really set in stone with tech choices. Moves were added fairly often before.
Jul 2, 2020 19:49:01 GMT -6
Morgan: I know, but I've been suggesting it for... Quite some time.
Jul 2, 2020 19:47:55 GMT -6
Aster: That would be a pretty big rehaul of the current movepool P:
Jul 2, 2020 19:47:35 GMT -6
Morgan: I personally don't think that the elements matter, IE: I think every element should have all tech choices.
Jul 2, 2020 19:47:00 GMT -6
Aster: And 7 STA is still a pretty significant threshold. Definitely not as much as 10, but
Jul 2, 2020 19:45:13 GMT -6
Aster: Ehhh I still feel like NRS big-damage moves should stay in a few elements. Otherwise it'd kind of be taking away from Fire/Ice/Elec without giving anything to them that other elements have (ie a persistent DOT, or more crowd control for Fire/Ice)
Jul 2, 2020 19:44:52 GMT -6
Aster: Would Balefire and Call Lightning be on the docket for nerfing too?
