The stage lights were hot on Fiera's head, but she barely noticed them. She and Snowdrop had been training for weeks for this, and it was finally time to show off what they had learned. Fiera herself was dressed in a long, black, flowing dress, her tail almost indistinguishable from it. It was meant to give her a look evocative of a traditional witch while not drawing too much attention from the star of the show- Snowdrop, who WAS dressed in a witch outfit, complete with a little hat. She gestured to the creature on the floor and took a deep breath. "Ladies and gentlemen, may I display to you- Snowdrop!" As if on cue, Snowdrop let out a long mew, which made the crowd chuckle. She was indeed very cute. "Behold a creature so magical and intelligent that she could count as a little witch herself!" She said, gesturing to the hat.

"As a tailypo, Snowdrop is uniquely resistant to the magic of others as well- behold!" She said, and set a lantern down next to her pet. Then she held up her hollow node for the audience to see. It glowed brightly in the limelight, and Fiera focused on it, summoning its own magic to help her out. Then, she whipped out a hand and pointed in Snowdrop's direction, imagining a dull pressure around her. Snowdrop tilted her head, nothing happening to her... but next to her the lantern exploded, the glass shattering as the pressure crushed it inwards. One of the judges leapt in their seat a bit and Fiera could tell they were at least a little impressed by the display. Still, Snowdrop flicked her head and strolled over to Fiera casually, casting a glance back up at the audience. "See, everyone? She's perfectly fine!" Fiera said with a chuckle.
(Fiera uses the Hollow Node (and the spell "Pressurize") and Blue Snow Lantern and demonstrates Snowdrop's Magical Resistance.)

"But something's missing here, isn't it? Snowdrop, step up!" She said, holding out her hand low to the ground. Snowdrop clambered up onto her hand, carefully balancing with her forepaws around Fiera's elbow. Fiera held up the little broom that went with the costume- far too small for Fiera, but perfectly sized for Snowdrop. "Snowdrop, hold!" She said, and the kitten leaned back on her haunches, wrapping her front paws around the staff of the broom. The audience chuckled with recognition as the costume was completed. "There we go- now THAT'S a perfect little witch! But of course, a witch isn't just resistant to magic- she can perform it herself! Behold!" She said, and snatched her hand away from Snowdrop's hind legs. The audience gasped as they no doubt fully expected the kitten to come crashing to the ground at the hand of its cruel owner... but instead she stayed in place in midair, hovering right where Fiera had left her, still holding the broom.
(Fiera completes Snowdrop's witch costume, Snowdrop uses Step Up and Hold and demonstrates Float.)

"Behold, a witch that can fly on a broomstick, just like the stories say!" Fiera said, winking to the audience. Low applause rang out as Snowdrop got herself comfortable on the broom, letting herself "lay" on it in midair as opposed to holding it in front of her. "But of course, in the dead of night, creatures of magic are often followed by beautiful will-o-wisps! Just don't follow them, or you might find yourself lured right into her cauldron!" Fiera said, and held up a paper lantern. It glowed bright blue, the same color as Snowdrop's eyes which were carefully following it as Fiera flicked it around like a cat toy. Finally, she tossed it towards the tailypo. At first it flew in an arc as expected, but as it approached the feline its movement slowly ground to a stop, hanging in mid air... before it began to orbit the tailypo, earning another round of clapping from the crowd.
(Fiera uses the paper lantern, Snowdrop uses Telekinetic Powers.)

"And now for the grand finale..." Fiera said under her breath before calling out. "Snowdrop, moonlight!" She said, giving the final command. Snowdrop leaned forward on the broomstick and began flying properly, looping around the arena and dragging the lantern along behind her, a bright beacon for the audience to follow. It wasn't the only thing glowing, however. As Snowdrop looped higher and higher in tighter and tighter spirals, her fur started glowing a bright, silvery-blue color until, at the top of the room with the audience craning their necks to see her, it burst... and she vanished. A murmur came from the crowd as the lantern fluttered to the ground, now unmoored from the tailypo's powers. Finally it came to a rest in Fiera's hand at the center of the stage below. And then, she held out her other hand and Snowdrop appeared once more in another burst of light, landing right where she started in Fiera's outstretched palm. Fiera gave a deep bow as the audience cheered. "Thank you, everyone! I- and Snowdrop- adore you!"
(Snowdrop uses Travel By Moonlight.)

This wasn't Lumie's first time at the contest hall, so it was surprisingly easy to get her ready for her turn to show. Not that there was much preparation to be done in the first place. It wasn't like they had to brush her fur or shine her scales like they would with many other creatures. She stood calmly at their feet, watching the people as they passed in and out of the rooms around them. Finally, it was her turn, and with a silent signal, Silver ushered her into place for the show to begin.
Silver got Quin to sit back stage in his usual place, and he peeked out into the show ring to watch what was happening. He was used to being hidden away for the show, though he hardly understood why it happened.
"Ha-hello!" Silver said in their 'dramatic stage voice' which was still rather quiet. "I am here to show you a marvelous magical companion of mine..."

"But where could she be?" Silver said, looking behind them as if trying to find her. "A mysterious creature like her could be hiding anywhere, even in thin air!"
They grabbed a spotted blanket they brought with them for the show and held it up to show the crowd. "This is her favorite," they explained.
"Perhaps we could use it to get her to come out for the show?" The words flowed out of them almost automatically, as they had practiced the routine so much that they felt like they could say it in their sleep. It was the only way they knew of to get rid of the nerves long enough to do this in front of a crowd.
"Come on Lumie! It's your turn to shine!" This was the part of the show Lumie was waiting for. Hidden away in a secret nook under the stage, she peeked just a bit of her head up so that she could see the blanket. Hopefully, the crowd was still focused on it so they wouldn't see her poking through.

Silver stretched their arms as wide as possible so that the blanket was completely spread out. Then, with a little help from thier invisible magic, they tossed the blanket high into the air. It caught the air and floated slowly down toward the stage. Lumie knew that this was what she had been waiting for, and she enthusiastically jumped from under the stage, through the blanket, and high into the air. Then, she floated gently down with it, so that she appeared to be balanced on top it as it fluttered quickly to the ground.
When the blanket finally landed in a chaotic spiral on the ground, Lumie allowed all four of her paws to finally touch down on top of it. Then, she did an overly dramatic bow of her head, accidentally letting the ends of her ears phase back through the floor.
"She's lighter than air, and that's not all..." Silver said. They glanced at Lumie a few times while they spoke, making sure that she was ready for the next part of the show.

Silver took a step back and to the side, using their hands to reveal an antique picture frame that had been leaned against the stage. Though the frame looked positively ancient, the glass holding in a painting of the moon had been polished to a fine shine.
"As you can see," Silver said, waving their hand dramatically and sprinkling a little bit of glitter over where she stood, "Lumie here looks like she is made of light itself, but did you know that she also has the ability to draw light from the moon?" What did that even mean? Well, she was about to show them.
Lumie ran around the back of the painting, then jumped through it toward the crowd. That wasn't required as part of the trick, of course, but they wanted to make it look as mysterious as possible. She then summoned a ball of moonlight halfway through the frame. She lifted her paws as if going to great effort to 'pull' the light out onto the middle of the stage.

At the same time that Lumie moved her paws and 'pulled' the light down onto the stage, Silver tossed a star shaped streamer into the air. It followed the light ball closely, helped along by the invisible nudge of their magic. A trail of silvery sparkled followed the moonlight, looking like a star plucked from the sky and sent down to earth. The streamer eventually crashed into the stage, sending glitter flying out in every direction at the same time that the ball of light faded into nothingness.
Silver drew in a short, quick breath. They were starting to get nervous about pulling off the finale, even if everything had gone well so far. This was it, the final trick, and arguably the most important one. This would be what the crowd, and the judges, remembered most. They popped the cork off of a bottle of colourful, sparkling liquid they had found in the mansion. If anything would convince this crowd that she was magical, it was this.

Silver tossed the bottle of glitter water into the air, causing the jar to spin around and around as it quickly dumped its contents out. This needed to be timed perfectly in order to work, and it was. Just as the water had escaped the jar but not yet plummeted to the ground, Lumie dropped the temperature of the air around them both, causing the liquid to freeze in place.
It was so cold, in fact, that the little crystals, faint and fluffy like snowflakes, hung in the air for a moment before deciding to fall. Lumie leaped into the air through the snow, allowing the colorful sparkling bits of ice to be seen through her ghostly white body. Soon enough, gravity took over, and the crystals fell to the ground in a neat little pile, which Lumie landed on top of. She bowed again from her little mountain of snow, and Silver left without another word, thinking that the finale spoke for itself.

IngwayLevel: 4,4 Cunning: 4 Stamina: 2 Strength: 2 Resistance: 1 Dexterity: 4 Mentality: 6 Special Abilities: Ethereal, Magical Moves: Howl, Chilling Aura, Ethereal Claw Knows: Ethereal Claw (4) As I made my way to center stage, I thought about what an excellent pair Ingway and I made. We went so well together, in fact, that I saw no need to dress either of us up for the show. Ingway couldn't accessorise even if he wanted to, and I thought my sparkling scales looked amazing as they reflected the subtle waving of color in his mane. The judges had to agree that Ingway was an incredible magical creature. How could they not? I had seen the other performances, and I wasn't that impressed. Sure the cat could float, and the ghost ribbon creature took a little bit of the shock factor away from Ingway's similarly translucent body, but none of them exuded magical energy the same way that he did. Just look at his mane and the starry aura that surrounded him. In my mind, there was no doubt as to who was the most magical looking. 1[18.35, 4.4]

Well, so the time had come for the magic show contest. Noa had been looking forward to it, though having watched the acts preceding him one after another, he realized he had been a fool to do so. There was, if anything, only a smattering of real spellwork among the routines they'd demonstrated, and what he saw didn't particularly impress him. Certainly, none of the creatures cast any spells. There wasn't anything new to learn, or even any fascinating new prospects he hadn't been aware of. It was a disappointment, especially as had taken the pains to dress up for the occasion, breaking out some of the finer pieces from his wardrobe that hadn't seen the sun for some time. In the wake of his parents' deaths, there had been a lot of events that required his attendance, and at that time it had been important to maintain the appearance and reputation of the Saint-Clair family name. But things had settled considerably since then, and now attending parties and keeping up with the affairs of other affluent families was a waste of time. Besides which, he wasn't often invited anymore, most likely owing to his lack of patience for the roundabout ways in which the old families liked to needle each other. 1

The clothes still fit though, and they certainly made an impression. The shoulder cape was probably a bit much, but he wasn't about to dress himself up like some cheap fourth-rate street-side charlatan, or those ridiculous performers that put on shows with all that fog and fanfare. Noa was a mage of the Saint-Clair family, and there was no substitute for the real thing. That was what he was going to show them today.
Tugging his gloves to make sure they were properly on, he stretched his hands, then walked onto the stage. Rhys was waiting in the back, out of sight, as Noa stepped into the spotlight alone. He didn't immediately address the audience, or even acknowledge their presence. Instead, he seated himself at a little tea table set up with delicate chinaware, crossing his legs and pouring himself a cup of tea. Only after taking a sip did he turn to the crowd.
