The element of surprise triggers several things all at once. The scream of the galabex as she bolts out of the foliage into the clearing. The rope glowing green and lifting not just off the weaver, but throwing itself at the galabex as it bolted past. By luck or by fear, the rope snugs suddenly around the black and red creature's long hind foot, sending it sprawling into the dirt. Mum the weaver sprang off the fence post as it lurched from the sudden pull and weight of the giant and lands on Skylos. Skylos' fur poofs out twice his size, and he topples backwards past his tail onto his butt. So much for a cat's balance. The screaming galabex doesn't stop after the leaves on her rump fall off and she tries to run, only to hit the ground again from missing a leg. Pulling and kicking and only finding the rope tighter then ever. What is this?! Mum scuttles up and over Skylos until taking refuge on the highest point (his head). Skylos is thinking the same thing, even without the ability to understand rapid clicking and hissing of mandible. The struggling giant of a beast... with the look of a rabbit. fall 41 tbb 6

Well giant spiders and a dog the size of a small horse hasn't surprised him yet, why not have a rabbit the size of a deer. With a short little crown of antlers on its forehead. He'd read about jackalopes once in a storybook at the library. Mythical rabbits with horns, but this wasn't really a rabbit, was it? The giant rabbit-deer screams and kicks, leaving gouges in the undergrowth dirt with those long nails. The post hasn't pulled out yet, and the creature is panicking pretty badly. He just waits. Either it calms the hell down, or goes into some sort of shock attack. Those antlers are nothing to mess with. Minutes pass as the creature fights its bonding, rubbing the rope back and forth against the post, screaming like a banshee. But the screaming's volume goes down slowly, the scrabbling claws slow... and the galabex finally stops fighting, exhausted in voice and stamina. Mum doesn't see a giant monster rabbit; Mum sees food. Weavers don't have salivary glands, but they do have venom glands. Forget the dead wolf spider stowed in webbing for later in the shed; this is a meal on legs. If it dies, this was a going to take a lot of webbing. tbb 7 42

The galabex scrapes the ground weakly with her front paws... get...have to get...away. Snares bad... Flanks heaving, the giant herbivore slips in posture to being flat on her side, belly rising and falling. A caught rabbit is a dead rabbit; thats how instincts told. The snare held fast to her leg, a tingly feeling in the toes that spread up towards the heel. The opalescent eyes close briefly, still breathing pretty hard. She can smell something, probably a predator, nearby. Doesn't smell like a big lizard with teeth and wings, or the cats on fire. The undergrowth kind of masks their scent a bit. Another minute or two passes before the cat man thinks its safe to approach the exhausted wild animal. Who would've guessed his spider string was so tough? Little legs clung to his skull as the cat moved into a standing position, carefully creeping on his padded feet to the creature's side. Aside from the sheer size of the thing, the black fur is smooth and shiny. Well groomed if it wasn't all mussed up from kicking around in the dirt. His eyes told him rabbit, but his nose told him deer. What an unusual creature. tbb 8 43

Long loppy ears fell over its shoulders, the horns erupting behind the eye. He'd never gotten a good look at anything in real life that had horns or antlers. He... had a very real fear of the nightmare deer that inhabited the hunter's shop on the edge of the city market. More of stories told then being physically put off by the idea of deer. She's about as big at the shoulder as Kitri is... and that's saying something, and he's not sure she's done growing either. The black fur is bellied with crimson, but he sees no injury on it. Was that its natural fur coloring? Kind of pretty looking. Like Mum, but redder. The eye flutters, and Skylos freezes in place. It opens, a dark opalescent eye rolling a bit as it focused on him. Cat. There is a cat here. Smell makes sense now. A big cat. Not big like cat on fire, or angry lizard with teeth, but still 'big'. It watches her, she watches it. Watches its eyes. They have no set color together; one is definitely not blue. Its...unsettling but at the same time... captivating to the galabex's mind. She's not seen green and blue mesh like that on a face. tbb 9 44

The smaller but still clawed paw of the rabbit-deer weakly scrapes the dirt between them. She's still afraid, still wants to get away... but can't. She's too tired. Pulling her paining leg at the snare before letting it fall across her free limb. Watching the cat creature. A slight dart of focus upwards, theres a green spider perched on its head. It makes a sort of rumbling noise. A bit of listening, the galabex finds the sound rather pleasing to listen to, even if its a predator thats making the pleasing noise. Its moving. Towards her legs. To eat her? I'm going to release your leg now. The cat purrs quietly for the exhausted animal before him. If she kicked him as a result, well, it would happen if it happened. Sometimes you do get kicked for helping something in need. He should know, it's happened once or twice. The snare is very tight along her heel to ankle, and it still surprises the cat on how strong this string actually was. Mum, can you help me loosen this. Make it big and loose like you did trying to get it off yoruself? He asks the spider on his head. Never hurt to ask. fall 45 tbb 10

He wants to release the big food? Was this cat wrong in the head? Its a giant free meal, and all they had to do was wait for it to die. Mum can't fathom why the cat doesn't just sit back and let the animal exhaust itself, then go for the kill and eat it. There was plenty for him and themself, maybe even leftovers for Lav. Raw isn't a problem either. They wouldn't worry about food for a long time, or at least Mum and Lav wouldn't. They dont' eat constantly. Where was that blasted dream when you need a stupid translator!? The cat's paw lifts up to his head level, and waits. Not terribly willing but cliinging to his long headfur wasn't exactly a stable footing for any weaver, so Mum walked off into the paw. Skylos offers the paw downwards towards the animal's hind leg, his instincts on high alert. If she kicked Mum, He'd probably murder the deer-bunny right then and there. Because Mum wouldn't survive that. Not even as a bigger spider. In his own mind. Just open the rope enough that I can pull it off. He instructs the spider, fully convinced that with luck, they might get the idea? fall 46 tbb 11

Make rope big and loose. That was understandable enough, and his voice still sounds gratey to the weaver's sense of hearing. Mum would grumble about the lack of brains in their chosen cat man later to their twin. He must have something in mind. Maybe to use those claws of his to finish off the beast once its free? Would Mum get to eat giant meats? Moving the rope isn't nearly as difficult as it was previously. They see it, and they could touch it if needed. Very tight, very taut. Previously hadn't been able to see it. And the only reason it got off was being taken by surprise, and Mum had 'accidentally' thrown the rope looplets. The leg beneath their legs is very taut, the muscle so tight it probably would hurt if spiders had muscles like that. That probably hurt, now that they thought of it. Big and loose rope. Rope will grow loose, and become big to take off. There better be some good meat doing this... Skylos wasn't sure about touching the animal in front of him. The leg had gotten more tense looking when he let the weaver stand on it. Was the deer-rabbit in pain? tbb 12 47

She's resigned to the impending death by cat and spider now, as the galabex lets her head fall onto the leafy ground. The opalescent eye rolls a bit, watching leaves drift on the ground. In a very similar shape of being felt on her rump. Two and two click together... and it was a stupid leaf. Not a predator. The giant bunnydoe exhales through her soft nose, ruffling the leafage. Stupid leaves. And the crunchy ones do taste good too. The cat isnt' gone, and why is it waiting? If its going to land a killing blow, might as well do it. A hungry cat doesn't wait for the prey to die of boredom. Or this is the worst hunting cat she'd ever come across. A knot of concern twinges inside him as he watches the galabex thing drop its head to the dirt floor. He... doesn't want the galabex to die from their own actions. Well... they were trying to help. They being primarily Mum and attempting to loosen the rope up. If the beast lashes out to escape, as long as she doesn't strike his spider, then that was fine. His self preservation skillset was next to nada after all. 48 tbb 13

The weaver spends several minutes, very long minutes if anything could tell time, accessing the rope. The wrong in the head cat man couldn't tell them to hurry it up, because moving something on will isn't as easy as he assumes. Its much easier to do when a big spider than a small spider. The string isn't even that strong, and the fact it held up this long must be pretty impressive. Finally Mum touches their frontmost leg to the rope, and it kind of twitches to their will. Shudders. Like a waking snake. Finally the rope begins to loosen. The leg slips from the loosening knot once it clears the knob of a leg of the giant meat on legs. The leg drops, crookedly across the other leg as the rope falls against the very crooked post, still and unassuming. The cat man releases the breath he didnt' realize he'd been holding onto. She was free now, the galabex bunny rabbit. He has no reason to stick around now. Picking up his hatchet, Skylos steps over the tangled not-hooves and goes back to work of clearing the growth so he can use the garden properly. But not before letting the spider off of the galabex in case she bolted. 49 tbb 14

Pins and needles twinge up and through the limb as the galabex closes her eyes, waiting. But the leg bound, instead of being ripped off, lowers, and a stabbing ache radiates down to the large toes. Carefully she opens her eyes, and lifts her head, which takes some doing. These antlers aren't exactly light. The spider is no longer perched, and the cat has left her alone. Her instincts are confused on this, but the galabex watches the not so hulking form of the animal man taking hunks out of the encroaching foliage with a sharp, carefully clearing it. The spider must not be far away. It takes several minutes to gather her legs under her and get up. The previously bound leg hurts to walk on, like someone's stabbing needles into her toes again. The awkward gait lasts a few minutes as the galabex, who must have as few self preservation instincts as the cat man, approaches. He can hear the shifting of something large behind him. The hand with the axe doesn't grip harder, but he stops. Waits. Something is breathing down the back of his neck, and it feels SUPER WEIRD. He doesn't move, as a soft nose puts itself in his ear and snorts once. Ack! 50 tbb 15 -mum grows back to old- [night mosca]

The beings don't go un-noticed, as another pair of eyes peers between the branches & underbrush of twigs and low-branches. Curious, without malicious intent, the Mosca watches. If it had been only a few hours earlier, the cat would have pounced without a moments hesitation- a downed Galabex before a predator, what luck! Since the sun had risen however, the brilliant white feline had caught its fair share of Izer, Shiku and Jibijii, and at that moment had little interest in taking the life of a larger prey animal. Oh well...

The potion feels like it doesn't last very long because when Skylos finally retreats his way back to the kennel, when the weaver pops off his head and lands on the ground, suddenly it's full-sized. Lav's been curiously poking at a thick egglike sac that's stuck to the ceiling. Some persuasion and a retrieved broom peels the sac from the ceiling, clinging to the bristles like glue. This wasn't here before.... he mutters to himself while the twin weavers click back and forth rapidfire. The object is almost as large as the broom head, now that its no longer ten feet above their heads. He'd take it outside and put it in a tree someplace. Last thing he wanted was it to be broken open in his space. There were trees out in the garden patch, and so he went out to use that space. There were plenty of trees. -craaaack- 51 tbb 1

In the years after the original occupants left that portion of the kennels, nobody but the paperwork staff knows if it even was occupied, occasionally occultly obsessed teenagers would come in and do stupid kid stuff, like attempt to use wedgie boards, perform a fake seance, one gets the picture. Someone thought it a great idea to toss in a handful of dried and perserved bug eggs, add a bunch of live bugs adn dirt, add water and seal it in a sac. A sagging water balloon of a sac when originally stuck to the ceiling. The eggs reabsorbed the water, and eventually hatched. A lack of space. So many others. It was stupid of them to add lab created bug eggs into the mix, because then they'd naturally win. Not so true when they're young though. The grubs were an easy meal, spiders at least ate each other first before starting on the rest. The armored larvae took time. 52 tbb 2

Between the wasp larvae, the armored formica larvae and the baby weavers, the rest of the earthbound insects and worms were eaten in a matter of time. Tiny bug showdown really isn't as exciting as its made out to be, because a snip of pincers and the weavers were split away from their legs and easy fodder. Gradually, the spit wore at the formica's armor, and broke through. Without that armor, the wasp larvae wouldn't have won out. Anything left dissolves into mush for the larvae to feed on until its time to hatch. An opaque wall of red separates them from the outside, and it wants out. The sac has been relocated outside by the cat who lives there now. Almost even tricked by another to take it with. The strongest creature left of the sac inside squirms, an unknown to the creature holding the end of the broom like its a sword. 53 tbb 3
