Node Crafting
Node Crafting Requirements Overview
1-9 x Magic/Remnant Crystals of the appropriate element.
1x Mind Crystal (Sphere or Oval), for a ‘body’ of the node.
1x Healing Berry, to make sure you don’t die.
1x Piece of own soul, which regenerates within a year.
Kindly proceed to the Altar in Dark Corners and make 5 posts.

Step 1: Magical Crystals

Nodes come in three tiers, according to their magical potency:

Basic (3MP)
Lesser (6 MP)
Greater (9MP)
For a node to lock onto and contain a connection to a particular alignment, it requires ingredients that are completely infused with it - Magical Crystals. The amount of crystals needed in the crafting process depends on two factors: the level of the node you wish to craft (Basic, Lesser, Greater) and it’s general magical alignment (Hollow, Elemental, Divine) as seen below:

Hollow Nodes
Basic: 1 Remnant Crystal
Lesser: 2 Remnant Crystals
Greater: 3 Remnant Crystals

Elemental Nodes (Fire, Water, Earth, Wind)
Basic: 2 Elemental Crystals
Lesser: 4 Elemental Crystals
Greater: 6 Elemental Crystals

Divine Nodes (Light, Dark, Order, Chaos)
Basic: 3 Divine Crystals
Lesser: 6 Divine Crystals
Greater: 9 Divine Crystals
Remnant Crystals are the most stable and easy to work with, but its node has limited spell variety and strength. Elemental Crystals are slightly more erratic; some of their concentrated energies have a tendency to escape during the creation process and thus, require more crystals to make up the difference. The spells of these nodes are pretty straight-forward and strong, although are known to be versatile in experienced hands. Divine Crystals are the strongest but also the most difficult to work with, due to their nearly uncontrollable and sporadic loss of magical energy in the creation process, but the spells of these nodes are by far the most extraordinary.
To create a node, all the required magical crystals must be of the same type (fire crystals for a fire node, so on and so forth) so that once the node is finished, the mana available to you will be of the same alignment as the crystals used to make it.
The only exception to this is the extremely rare Prismatic Crystal, which can count as any alignment (a free-for-all element).
Elemental, Divine and Prismatic Crystals can be found in the Mines. Remnant Crystals can be found in the Mansion (all-year-round).
Step 2: Mind Crystal

Because the process of separating the magical energy from their crystal confinement can be disruptive and devastating, very little physical traces will remain of these ingredients in the aftermath of the ceremony. Without a stable and appropriate container to hold them, the released magical energies would simply dissipate and return to the world where they once belonged (often with a show of fireworks to accompany their departure). A mentality-based Mind Crystal, either Sphere or Oval, is a perfect solution to the problem. Already receptive to magic, the energies can quickly fuse to the mind crystal, warping and deforming it in the process until it becomes the sphere we often think of when it comes to nodes.
It should be noted that only mentality-based mind crystals should be used for this, as they are the only type that is capable of handling these kinds of energies. The use of any other type tends to have dire consequences.
Mind Crystals can be found in the Mines.
Step 3: Healing Berry

Because of the ...intense nature of the last step, anyone attempting to create a node must first ingest a Healing Berry, in order to survive the process. This should be done immediately before the last component is added to the node, since waiting too long may allow all the previous work to fall apart and thus, cause harm to the user.
Healing Berries can be harvested from the Gardens from a certain creature, when in season.
Step 4: Piece of Soul

The gods and spirits give, but they also take in return. For something as potent as magic, there is only one kind of tithing they will accept - that being a small shard of the caster’s own soul. While not large enough to cause the caster permanent harm (for very long, anyway), the process of ripping that piece free is often too much for the mortal mind and body to bear. If not for the Healing Berry’s ability to repair most of the damage immediately, doing so would end in death for the person involved. Because of this, a character may only go through this process once per year, as they need to give their soul enough time to recover before attempting such a thing again.
This step is the most crucial and dangerous part, as casters need to be certain all the previous steps have been done correctly before this point.
Step 5: Process

When you have gathered all the necessary physical ingredients, head to the Altar in Dark Corners (by creating a new thread in the area) and make 5 roleplaying posts of your character performing the ritual. At the end of these five posts, a NPC post will close the thread and, if everything was done properly and you were successful, give you your new node. If, however, the process should fail (either because of incorrect ingredients, or a lack of needed time between your last attempt and your current one) your character will suffer an unfortunate - but brief - demise, finding themselves resurrected at the Healer’s Temple and unable to make another attempt for the next three months.
The process itself is fairly simple: the Altar walls and steps are covered in numerous inscriptions and carvings that depict the act of node creation (along with other things involving altars ...needless to say, blood is included in both small and large quantities quite frequently). Climb to the top, place the items upon the stone slab before the speakers, eat the berry, take the spirit-edge dagger from the slab and make a small incision along whatever limb you prefer, so long as at least one drop of blood falls upon each of the ingredients, then kneel and wait for the gods and spirits to answer.
Thankfully, most of the soul rending tends to be difficult to remember afterwards.
