Laughing Skull Tavern
Harry's
Welcome to the Laughing Skull Tavern! If you were looking for a place to put your feet up by the fire, a table to eat a right-proper dinner, a bar to order a stout ale, or even a room for the night - you need look no further. The Laughing Skull Tavern can suit all your needs!
Upon first entering the Tavern, you will notice that the inside looks much like the outside. Rustic, as though it were made by carpenters during the time when songs were sung around a hearth, rather than into a microphone. The tables are wooden, and sturdy. The fireplace (which always seems to contain a fire, the wood supply endless) is on the right side of the single-room tavern, surrounded by tables. At the far back-right corner is a stairwell leading upstairs. On the opposite side of the tavern holds room for two 'dark corners', each with it's own table for those customers that seek privacy. Toward the far wall opposite of the door is a bar, polished into looking like glass, though it (like everything it seems) is made of oak. ;Behind that (inaccessible to the guests) is a door which presumably leads to the kitchen.
The smell of the place is inviting, to those that have the right sort of nose for it. You can smell dust upon the floor, sweat of the man standing next to you, and the faintest smell of pipe-smoke and the fireplace itself as it crackles and pops. The tart smell of ale also hangs in the air - but all seems overpowered by the scent rising from the steaming food awaiting to be devoured by the happy owners of the plates. Pies and stews waft frequently into the room whenever the kitchen door swings open for a brief moment. Mint and flowers hang near the fireplace, their smell adding a sweet sharpness to the room. Ah, all the smells you can smell!
Upon looking at the customers in the fire-lit place, you can see two definitive types. Those that look like they belong here, and likely frequent the place, and those that are here for the 'appeal' of being in such a rustic tavern. Tourists. Which are you? And.... WHAT IS THAT?!
The door to the kitchen swings open, and instead of the barmaid you've seen before, is... is... Is that a skeleton? Why... yes, yes it is. It is the skeleton of a human. Er... wait... it has a long tail. Er... skele-... oh gods. The skeleton strides out of the kitchen door as though it has done so a million times before, and rests it's elbow upon the bar, leaning it's white face toward the nearest customer (who doesn't even flinch at it's presence), and the skull opens it's toothy jaw. Words come out as it chatters, "Hay, darlin', so how's the kids?" The voice that comes from the animated dead-thing is smooth, and almost sweet - yet decently masculine. Suddenly, 'he' notices you, and looks up, the faint yellow glow in it's hollow sockets rolling toward you - and he stands up straight again, the faint 'click' of bones shifting against bones heard as he does so - and he waves a hand at you in a cheery manner, "Well hellooo, sweetie, care for a menu? Or were you lookin' for a room?~" He sings out to you, and then chuckles, "Oh, you can order from the maiden if you'd like, but I don't bite."
The barmaid smiles at you, "Though if you sit at a table, m'fraid your gonna' have to buy somethin' - the bar stools is free however, Harry's orders." And with that said, she meekly walks back into the kitchen area, casting a glance at the skeleton on her way into it, "Harry don't bite, just like he says, you pay him no mind if his tongue gets sharp with ya'." and with that said, off into the kitchen she disappears. "Harry" just shrugs innocently.
