A Houluh breeding... that's not bad right? Jack ran her fingers through Eclipse's shaggy fur on the top of his head and sighed a little. Interacting with someone else after all this time? Maybe it was a bad idea, but... Ugh, this was hard, she thought as she chewed her lip. Leaning against the wall of the Breeding Center, she watched the street coming up to it and wondered if they were going to be here soon or if she had shown up way too early. Eclipse licked her hand a little and whined, and Jack just smiled a little at him, "Yeah I know, but I haven't talked to an actual person in... how long now?"
The ring on her finger glowed a little whenever she spoke to a Houluh, but so did the one for Sarane when she spoke to them, especially Alexei. It was weird, but... she didn't know what else to do, and she did more with the two species as a whole than any of the others, she felt.
Just wait, she could wait, right? The cold air made her breath fog in front of her and she sighed. Just... wait.

It had been quite a while since Morgan had been out. Sure, they'd been out to work and then back to the estate, but otherwise? They hadn't really done anything else of note. It wasn't exactly healthy- turning their life into a mashup of work-and-then-home and back. They'd thought that perhaps an excuse to take out a critter that wasn't their beloved Kaodie, Whisper, or Nico would be a swell idea for a break; thus their having arranged another Houluh breeding appointment. The individual that they had arranged a meeting with was one that they had met with before, so they didn't figure it would be too much of a strain. Mink followed behind them as they stepped up onto the sidewalk out in front of the breeding center, her movements flowing like silk. Her ears flopped a bit as she hopped up, but otherwise she was practically a slip of wind. All houluh were graceful, but Mink had really grown into it.
The air was quite cold, and Morgan briefly considered lighting a cigarette before they realized that they could already see someone else with a houluh ahead. They recognized the individual immediately, and raised a palm in greeting.
"H-how goes it?" They flash a quick smile, fingers in their labcoat pocket still over their cigarette case. Mink moves right past Morgan to sniff at the other houluh- but from a polite distance, her tail low and wagging loosely.

Eclipse sniffed the air for a moment, thinking he caught the scent of something, and his eyes focused on the pair coming closer to them. He woofed lightly to the woman and she glanced up as well before pushing off of the wall and scratching the back of her hand a little. "Hey... not bad, what about you?" she asked with a small smile. This was going to be tough, and it seemed like it was going the same way for Morgan. Chewing her lip a little, she shook her head, "Not uh... been out much. Wanna go inside?" Jack motioned to the door as Eclipse sniffed at the Matronne from a bit of a distance.
The Patronne didn't know what was going on, this was the first time he'd been here after all. At least the Matronne looked like she was nice, and quite graceful as well. He glanced down at his longer than average for a Houluh fur and shook his head a little, his shaggy ears flopping around in the cold air.

The soft bark coming from that patronne had a good timbre to it, Morgan thought. That patronne was a pretty thing, Morgan thought, with his long silky coat and his contrasting coat of shaded blacks against stark white marks. He was definitely of prestigious stock- and wouldn't they know? It was quite obvious that he was related to their own stock; a great choice for a partner for Mink in this instance. They glanced at Mink, with her peculiar spotty coat and wet little tan nose that was twitching as she looked quite intently at the patronne. Judging by her body language, she didn't seem to be wary of the other hound. Just as well.
They took stock of the individual as well, eyes darting from behind the glint of glasses to them from the pair of houluh. "I'm d-doing well, thank you." They murmur, a puff of hot air leaving their mouth as a light fog patch in the cool air. "I think t-that would be prudent. It is quite cold!" They made for the door, a hand on the cold metal. A shiver moved up their arm, and they turned quickly to Mink. "C'mon, girl." They said, voice a little quiet and soft. Mink had been taking in the stock of the lanky houluh, but at the call of her master she turned to the door. She glances back over her shoulder at the patronne as she entered the door.

"Good," she said with a little smile and started off toward the door as well, motioning to Eclipse to follow her along. He stretched out and shook his fur out before trotting after her, glancing over to the Matronne as he did so. Hmm, this was going to be different she figured with a little frown as she chewed on her lip a little, she didn't know what was going on. It was hard being out again, maybe she had pushed herself too hard too fast.
Oh well, this was going to be fine. "Been awhile since I've been out..." she told herself mainly, but wondered if that was something she should just... say out loud into the universe, "A little uh... rusty at being around people." Jack shrugged a little and shook her head before pushing her hair back and patting Eclipse on the head when he nudged up against her legs a little.

Morgan wasn't always the best communicator and they had long since gave up on trying to be good at such skills. There was only a little need for it in their line of work, and there were plenty of individuals hired to do the things that Morgan either wasn't the best at or simply didn't want to do. However, there was little they could do about personal matters. Sure, they could hire someone else to take their houluh to the breeding center, but that would defeat the purpose (and they hardly trusted anyone else with their critters to begin with).
Despite their lack of communication prowess, they were just the slightest bit observant; and it was obvious at first glance that the individual seemed more reserved than they had the last time that Morgan had met them. They held the door open past their own houluh entering the building, and when everyone was inside their tilted their head. "I see- it's b-been a while for me too." It seemed like the right thing to say- people generally responded well to camaraderie, didn't they?
"W-we could have a- uh, chill outing if you'd like?" Morgan focuses more of their attention on their own Matronne, who despite her dutiful nature and staying more near Morgan had all of her attention on the pale-faced patronne. She looks at him from behind her own body, her head turned over her rump as she stood with her flank pressed against Morgan's legs.

"A chill outing?" Jack asked with a raised eyebrow as she slid through the open door after Eclipse trotted through, "You mean just... relax and don't worry about stuff right?" She scratched the back of her head as she continued over to the counter and took a form from the stack. It wasn't a bad idea, she figured as she started to fill it out, glancing over at her... friend, right? Acquaintance? Colleague? Whichever way, they knew each other and could tolerate each other for a bit so it was all good.
With her attention elsewhere for a moment, Eclipse sidled up to the other human and gave a low woof, tilting his head before leaning forward just a bit to sniff at the Matronne's flank. She did smell nice, and he still wondered why they were there... though he was starting to get a bit of an idea. In the building there were a few other pairs of animals, and so it was starting to click a little.

Morgan just about choked on their own spit for a moment, while nodding. "Yes, like... You d-don't have to do a whole lot of talking if ya don't want. Or do, it's okay." They said, talking quite fast. "I'm pretty rusty, myself. B-but, you don't have to worry a-about impressing anyone." They shrugged at that, and after the other individual grabbed a form off of the stack they also did so, lagging behind just slightly to keep a polite distance between them. They filled out the form quite quickly, since they had indeed been there quite a bit before. These sorts of outings did tend to be quite a bit more 'chill' than anything they were used to- they hardly ever left the house to do anything not work related.
Morgan glanced down at the patronne and gave a genuine smile before looking up and finishing up the task at hand. He sure was a cutie! Of course, Mink seemed to be a lot more interested in him than even they had expected.
Mink was certainly having an interesting time already. Her ears perked up at the small woof and she returned with a small one of her own, almost clipped off. As she was sniffed, she leaned forward and sniffed him as well. He certainly had quite long fur! She didn't have fur near as long. She lifted a paw hesitantly, and then instead of touching him she yawned and leaned down into a playful pose. She wasn't quite ready to test to see if he'd like to be touched yet- so maybe play would suffice?

Jack glanced to the side and smiled, "Sure thing, as long as I don't have to impress." Her smile turned into a bit of a wry smirk and she shook her head, finishing up her form and sliding it across to the attendant. Glancing down at Eclipse, she noted he was glancing her way as well, "Go ahead, have fun."
With that, the Houluh barked sharply and dropped onto his belly, staring at the Matronne, though muscles tensed, looking would up. He was like a spring, and as soon as anything happened he was going to shoot off into the hallway, he already had a plan. Eyes glittering, he looked at the Matronne and yipped a bit, batting forward playfully with a paw.
"No small talk about how we've been right? No offense, but that gets... old and awkward..." Jack said, leaning on the counter, "I will say, however, whenever we meet up here, our animals don't seem to have any issues getting along." Her chin rested on her palm, elbow on the top of the counter.

Morgan had hardly been here a minute or two, and they already felt like they'd put their boot in their mouth. They weren't exactly well known for being personable, however, so perhaps it wouldn't be too much of a faux-pax in the long run. They glanced up for a split second to try to ascertain the expression on their acquaintance's face, but they'd never exactly been quite skilled at that either. After finishing up the form, they slid it across the desk (shortly after that of their companion) and then settled back a little bit. They very gently nudged Mink with their shin. "Go on gal, you d-don't have to stay st-stuck to me." They murmured. Mink had already been edging towards the patronne, so as soon as she was given the go ahead she raised up from her play-bow, and was caught quite surprised by the on-the-back flop. He still looked coiled and even perhaps a little dangerous- but that was a thrill! She made a soft whine-yelp, and then raised down into a play-bow before hopping up quickly. She half-pounced in his direction, completely unsure as to how he'd like to play- and goodness wasn't he cute? She raised a paw and yipped at his paw-raise, before she tried to make a soft lunge... "T-that's amenable." Morgan says, eyes still half-on Mink but not really paying too much attention to the game of the houluh pair. They wouldn't know what to ask, small-talk-wise, anyway. "Y-you are right." Morgan tried and failed to resist the urge to pridefully say- "I do t-try to ensure that my animals are behaved with o-o-others. L-looks like yours are, too." Great, more boot-in-mouth. They really weren't good at people. [10]

Giving a stretch with both arms up toward the ceiling, Jack felt her muscles loosen a bit and her spine pop several times due to misuse over the past few months. As soon as she went back to normal, she felts immensely better, at least physically. "Oh that's better..." she murmured, moving her head from side to side, popping that as well.
As soon as the Matronne moved toward him in a little hop, he was on his feet and bolting down the hallway, barking happily, the long fur on his tail streaming behind him. He was happy to have someone new to play with, the others at the Kennel got so boring after awhile. Skidding to a stop at the end of the long hallway, he jumped in a half circle so he was facing toward the entrance of the hall so he could see where she was if she was trying to follow.
Jack scootched out of the way as Eclipse bolted past and she chuckled, giving them a fond smile, "Yeah, I think we both do really well, it's a mark of a good trainer." Her smile turned into a bit of a grimace as she scratched the back of her head, "Though I'll admit to keeping the ones out from around people often if they're more inclined to rip people's faces off."

The bespectacled human took the moment of lull in the conversation to place a hand back in their labcoat pocket, fishing around until they were able to find what they were looking for; a packet of candy. It was about that moment that they realized that it was probably considered quite polite to offer some instead of just eating in front of someone- and they gave an embarrassed little smile of apology. "Would you like any g-gummies? I n-normally wouldn't, but I skipped breakfast." Which was indeed true, they were planning on making up for it with a decent brunch, but they needed to tide theirself over. There was more than enough gummies for two people. Mink was shocked whenever the patronne raced down the hallway- but she was only surprised for long enough to begin yipping and try to chase after him- definitely a good couple of fur lengths behind him as she was quite surprised! Her tail wagged ninety-to-nothing as she set her sights on him. He was extremely lithe, in her eyes at least- and it showed as he skidded to his stop. She was not quite as good as he was; so her slide was much less controlled. Her nails clicked against the flooring as she locked up her legs and spun out, trying desperately not to land on her back. Though she must have looked quite hilarious doing it; she managed to catch herself- standing with her eyes quite wide and her tongue lolled in excitement. Morgan couldn't help but laugh at the antics of the two hounds. Mink was quite pretty and she looked delicate- but she was helpless when it came to this sort of flooring. They glanced over at the nearest attendant apologetically; but nothing seemed too amiss. "I see what you m-mean. I've got a-a Drake that... Well, he's clever, b-b-but I wouldn't trust him around a-anyone... Edible." That was probably the -worst- way to put that. They couldn't surprise a slight twitch in the muscle around one eye at their own clumsy wording. [12]

Jack blinked for a moment at the offer of gummies and then smiled and nodded, "Sure, sounds good. If you want, I guarantee I have some chocolate in here... Makes the worst but most delicious breakfast." Finally after digging through the bag at her hip for a few moments, she pulled out a couple of chocolate bars and held one out in trade. The attendant cleared her throat for a moment and Jack gave a sheepish grin and noted the room they were assigned now. She pushed off from the counter and let Morgan know the room, "Close to the front at least."
His tag wagging furiously, Eclipse barked and sniffed at the air a little as he watched her skid across the floor. Opening his mouth a little, his head bobbed in a laugh and he leaned forward to give her a quick lick on the cheek. It was alright!
"The bad thing about being people is that we're squishy and made of meat, and we like to mess with things that enjoy taking advantage of that," Jack said with a wince as she began to wander slowly down the hallway.

Morgan hadn't really noticed, but their glasses had managed to slide down their nose fairly uncomfortably. They managed to push them back with their other hand as they offered the open bag in the direction of their compatriot. "H-here ya are- a-and Chocolate sounds good." They gave a quick smile again- mostly in reassurance. Chocolate may not have been the best breakfast, but it was certainly a good one. Perhaps it didn't go well with gummies- but it was an excellent swap. No one could begrudge someone for taking some variety. "T-thank you!" Oh, it appeared that it was time for them to go to the room. Well, this was awkward! At least it didn't seem too awkward otherwise, things were going quite smooth to Morgan's knowledge. "It's g-good that it's close- looks like our hounds a-a-a-a... They're doing well." Mink went from excited and playful to a little shy as soon as the patronne licked her on the cheek. It was a very cute action, and she hardly knew how to act in response! After a moment of looking down at her own front paws, she leaned forward and licked at the nearest ear so quickly and lightly that it might not have even touched. Morgan couldn't help but be tickled by that- and they belly laughed for a moment before managing to catch theirself- placing a hand in front of their mouth in order to appear polite. "Y-you aren't... Wrong- we are made up a decent amount of meat. I-I think we're a little bony for some critters t-though." Morgan followed, keeping an eye on their own houluh to make sure she wasn't being too rowdy.
