Call him crazy, but the cat can see through the human. His senses prickle again. What is that?! The "human" points in the proper direction, and vanishes before he could open his mouth and ask what they meant further. Huh. Knuckles up? He does so, and his left paw does display a proper L. Guess that is the right way... thanks ghost. As the cat and his basket of live animal walk away, standing without moving does not allow being seen. There's a familiar scent of raspberry gummis and crayon clinging to him... something very familiar. Skylos does know how to count and is counting rows of stones as he walks. Second from last of the rows... the cleanest stone in the group. With flowers and small footprints. Well the ground was mostly grass and pavestones. Above his head, the midday sun is picking a fight with the rolling in clouds above. No. No. Be sunny. He really doesn't want to get himself wet right now, and has a long haired puppy with him to watch for. 15

The stones are even different textures and types of rock as he passes them. Were they not randomly picked here? A lot of the stones are about his waist height, unmarked and... remarkably rockish. Running one of his paws across an unmarked stone... its just... there. He doesn't feel an inward prickle like he had with any other sight here. Just a rock. A sly smirk inside himself as he brushes his tail languidly across one of the stone faces. A cat's way of I am here. He won't rub his face on it, because that is declaring that rock 'his', and no thank you he doesn't need to choose an early gravestone for himself. The longhaired puppy inside the basket is dreaming. She is running down the road, chasing something. She doesn't see the specific thing, but its smell stretches out ahead of her like a colored ribbon for her nose. Wait for me! Wait! I want to go too! 16

The second to last row of stones is quite a ways in to the left of the entrance of the boneyard. He didn't realize just how BIG this rock garden, because this really is, is. Carrying a fairly heavy basket, like when he tried to carry Kitri around as a puppy, is making his arms tired. Please wake up soon, little traveling longhair dog, his arms are not gonna want to carry you much longer. Not every one is unmarked. Four or five are fancier. Carved into, even. Names and numbers are carved onto smooth or chiseled faces. A child sized space of dirt separates the narrower path from the rock itself. One has a few bottles placed against the stone's edge that held it into the dirt. They smelled a bit old. Another has a plastic coated picture of a human and their... horse, riding on the beach in the sunset. Its a loved picture with several taped edges. 17

He feels kind of sad seeing that picture. But the stone itself reads BUSTER. Rest well, BUSTER, whomever you are. He wont' dwell on whether its the human or the horse on their creature. The next carved rock is very fancy, with a 'plate' of sorts at its foot, with a carving of an impressive gargoyle. Someone put some money into this stone. It reads MISTLETOE. Larger in life, never forgotten in death. What is a Mistletoe, was it a winged reptile? However its not fully buried here. There's a thick red 'helmet' like item that is placed in front of it. Huh. Unusual. He skirts around the carved stone. It kind of spooks him and smells like oil. It is kinda shiny. Finally at the end seems to be one of the 'newer' stones. Simple, with a name, and numbers. He can't read the name though, or at least pronounce it. Setting the pup's basket down, he decided to investigate. 18

Its a foreign name that he doesn't understand how it sounds out. Greek and Common doesn't work on this one. LOVING HUSBAND AND FATHER YOU ARE IN OUR HEARTS FOREVER OUR HERO ***** ...I think this is the place, Skylos tells himself. He bows his head to the stone who he's pretty sure is the visited "DADDY". Hero? How was this person a hero? It was a trip overseas. I protected them from being hit by a car while crossing the street. He looks up. The same boringly grayed human is back. He looks wistful, besides being transparent. Uh... Raspberry gummis and crayons. My daughter asked you to do something, didn't she. Nod. The ghost nods back. She doesn't venture very far when they come to visit me, so look around the stones that spread around mine. So whomever Hero was, didn't know where the dolly was either. I'm going to leave my pup's basket here. I dont' think she'll wake up yet. he tells the spirit. Only the long blink of voidlike eyes tell him its acknowledged. 19

Skylos can feel the ghost watching him, even when out of earshot, or line of sight. Peering around the stones, brushing aside any creeping moss or plants. Nothing within the immediate line of stones that direction up, down, left or right of the Hero's stone. Nor the ones on the diagonal from the stone. Jeez, where did that kid drop her dolly. He's not counting stones anymore, just far out. By the second to last stone AWAY from the path, he finally finds a dusty looking dolly. Those eyes that close on being laid flat always creep him out. Its pudgy human face is frozen plastic. So you found it. Thank you. Please return that to my child, she does love the dolly I bought for her home day. Tell them I love them. Always and forever. and the voice fades away, leaving the cat man to collect his sleeping puppy in basket and chooses to put the dolly in the basket with her. The child is overjoyed to get Daddy's dolly back when he knocks on the door. Brushing off any loose dog or his own hairs on it before passing it to her mother. "Just remember. He loves you, always and forever." he says to them. The mother seems a bit teary eyed on hearing that. She made a few phone calls to different places while he was away, looking into any lost or missing pets. Nobody had phoned in a missing puppy with her long hair or markings. So... she suggested keeping her for himself?! Is that a good idea? 20 -fin- +4 unnamed puppy [32 0/5 0/10 9/20]
