Leafy felt the pull of magic once again. Her foot managed to break through the door, which hadn't been exactly what she had been intending, but it allowed her to break down the door entirely. She shrugged, not bothering to care too much of the damage she had created. She needed to follow the pull of magic and find its source.
"Come on, Lotus! Let's go track it down," she told her pet.
The halfbreed followed the girl as the two of them entered the room. She didn't focus too much on the room itself, instead allowing her feet to guide her close to the source of magic. Lotus followed despite not having much interest in magic crystals. It didn't take Leafy long to find the crystal. It's pull was strong and despite it being hidden underneath a leaf, she managed to find it without difficulty.
"It's nice to find multiple of these in one trip."

Now that she had the crystal in her hands, she felt instantly less anxious. She placed the crystal securely in her backpack, marveling at the energy of both of the crystals. They felt incredibly powerful and that frightened her just a little bit. She zipped her backpack closed and then turned to investigate the rest of the room. Lotus trotted forward, not nearly as cautious as Leafy was.
"Alright, I can't exactly control your instinct to dive straight into potential dangers. And I can't really judge you for it either, considering I tend to do the same thing," she commented.
The halfbreed glanced up at her, tilting her tongue and lolling her tongue out. Her goofiness likely originated with her Orbaru parentage and Leafy found herself feeling quite affectionate towards that fact. Orbaru could get a bit boring when it came to breeding, but they were still silly goofballs that loved to have fun.

The rest of the room wasn't particularly remarkable. It was a simple living room. Painting hung from the walls, depicting a variety of strange things. The girl couldn't quite determine what they were supposed to be of, but she got the sense that they were meant to be unsettling. It would fit the rest of the mansion after all. Lotus wandered off as the girl approached the paintings. The halfbreed didn't seem to be much of an art fanatic. Leafy on the other hand, liked looking at art. She found that still images could be interesting if you looked at them from certain perspectives. If she looked close enough, still images might even display signs of motion.
"At least I think these images don't move. And if they did, I don't think that'd help me figure out what they were."
The girl continued to look at the pictures, feeling just a little unsettled.

Lotus disappeared for a moment before returning. When she approached Leafy, the girl noticed that she had found a bright red ball somewhere in the room. Feeling confused, Leafy glanced wildly around the room, trying to figure out where the ball had come from. There were a couple of reading chairs in the room. No bookshelves though which made the chairs look slightly out of place. Perhaps the ball had been left behind by another creature. It didn't seem particularly unusual and it hadn't hurt Lotus. It seemed fine to let the halfbreed keep the ball for now. She would likely get bored of it soon enough anyways.
"I'm glad you found something that you consider valuable."
Leafy had yet to find anything else for herself in this room. She couldn't complain too much, however. She had found two remnant crystals and those were valuable enough on their own. She didn't need to be so greedy.

She glanced at the paintings one last time in a last ditch effort to figure out what they were.
"I'm pretty sure these are abstract," she mused aloud.
She sighed, giving up on the endeavor. She would take another look around the room before leaving, but she doubted there was much else to be found. Lotus trotted happily around the room, chewing on her newfound ball and making it squeak. The noise was a bit alarming. It was nearly impossible to be stealthy when her pet was making so much noise. She was having fun, so Leafy let her be.
"I suppose the noise could attack as a deterrent against wild creatures. Not that I want wild critters to avoid us. Finding new creatures it always an interesting experience.
Lotus trotted over towards the door. She looked expectantly at Leafy, waiting for the girl to follow her. Leafy obliged, deciding that she was ready to move on as well.

Right before she could leave, Leafy caught sight of a couple of objects near the door. They weren't particularly interesting items, but she wasn't about to leave them behind. Leafy placed all of the items in her backpack, noting how many items she had placed into it so far. Once she was ready, she opened the door and held it open for Lotus for follow. The next room was plastered in a dingy, flower wallpaper. The aesthetic resembled that of an old grandmother's house. She didn't have one of those of her own, but this was how she imagined the house to look like. Lotus chewed on the rubber ball she had found, making it squeak once again.
"I hope you haven't scared off anything important," she commented.
The halfbreed barked happily in response, pleased with her newfound toy. Leafy supposed it saved her the hassle of having to buy her new ones.

The room itself was rather dusty. It had captured the feeling of an abandoned room with perfection. Lotus didn't seem too bothered by it. She was enraptured with her ball and paid attention to little else. Leafy found herself grateful to the halfbreed. The squeaking of the ball was working to ease some of the tension that had filled her body. It was hard to stay serious with that silly sound filling the room.
"I'm glad you're having fun. I wish I could have some fun too, but I've got work to do."
Lotus dropped the ball and then pounced on it. The object rolled across the room with Lotus chasing after it. While her pet was distracted, Leafy took the chance to take a closer look around the room.
"I don't suppose there's any ghosts in here, is there?" She felt a bit disappointed when the room remained rather mundane.

A ghost would at least liven things up a bit. She had heard about the mansion being haunted at this time of the year, but she hadn't really visited the mansion during the month of October. If she didn't find what she wanted to this year, there was always next year to consider too. Besides, if she found all the possible treasures, there would be nothing left for her to find in the future!
"Did you find your ball?" She asked Lotus as the halfbreed trotted back.
A quick glance at her pet confirmed that she had retrieved the red ball and was currently holding onto it in her jaws. Leafy was thankful that she had opposable thumbs. It seemed like such a hassle to hold everything in your mouth. Though if she did use her mouth to hold things, that would leave her with more space in her hands.

There were a few dressers in the room, making it seem almost like a bedroom. There were no signs of a bed however. This could potentially be a storage room in that case. She approached one of the dressers, testing to see if the drawers were locked or not. She beamed when the first drawer she tried slid open. Lotus raised her head at the sound and trotted over towards Leafy to investigate. When it became clear that the girl hadn't found anything she found exciting, she returned to playing with her ball.
"Well you might not be interested, but this sort of stuff is interesting to me."
She dug through the drawer, eyes gleaming as she pulled out a ship in a bottle. The design of the ship seemed to be that of a ghost ship. It glowed in the bottle, making it appear rather ominous. She set it down on top of the dresser.

Leafy took a moment to examine the bottled ship in closer detail. The sails were full of holes, capturing that ghost ship look with accuracy. She tapped on the glass, testing to see if it would break with a little bit of pressure. When it appeared to be sturdy, she left it alone. She didn't know how the artist had gotten the ship inside the bottle, but she wasn't about to break the bottle simply to get the ship out. It seemed almost wrong somehow, like she would be unleashing a curse.
"It seems safer just to leave it be. I wouldn't want to make a ghost mad."
Lotus tumbled close to her, kicking her legs up into the air as she rolled around with her ball. The movement was so carefree and playful, it made Leafy feel rather jealous. She leaned down and stole the ball from Lotus, rolling it across the floor for the halfbreed to chase.

There was a strange little pocketpet lurking just out of reach. When Lotus's ball rolled directly towards it, the small creature scrambled to get out of the way. Luckily for Leafy, the pocketpet headed straight towards her. She moved quickly, lurching forward and grabbing the pocketpet before it could escape. She recognized this species as a Howler. This type of pocketpet didn't really appeal to her, but she knew someone would pay good money for it. She'd recently unloaded a bunch of her pocketpets and had made a sizable amount of credits in return.
"I'll store you away to sell later," she commented.
Lotus had managed to catch her ball and she trotted back over, her tail wagging like crazy. Leafy felt a wave of giddiness rush over her. She'd gotten caught up in the game as well and her reward had been a small pocketpet. She certainly wouldn't complain.

Now that she had gotten the pocketpet and picked up a few leaves along the way, she decided it was time to leave the room. That was always easier said than done. The mansion had a way of trapping her inside rooms the more she wanted to leave. Usually, the puzzles it forced her to solve were rather fun, but Leafy was on a time limit. She wanted to explore as much as she could before the month was over. She would have until midnight to do so and it was evening right now.
"Can you find a way out, Lotus?" she asked her companion.
The halfbreed appeared too preoccupied with her ball to focus on much else. It seemed Leafy would have to figure this out by herself. She was smart enough that it shouldn't be too much of a problem. But the mansion did like to play tricks on her.

She narrowed her eyes, trying to figure out what looked out of place. Leafy had gotten rather good at looking for clues. Though the clues she usually looked for pertained to monsters or wild creatures. She felt she was capable enough to look for clues to find the door.
"First, I'll need to see if any sections of the wall can be pushed open. That's usually where doors are hidden."
Lotus perked up at the sound of her voice. When Leafy began to knock on the walls, her tail started to wag. The girl supposed the noise was similar to when someone knocked on a door.
"There's nobody else here, that's just me making that noise. You don't need to get excited."
There was no calming the creature down. She glanced around wildly, trying to figure out which friend had come over to play. When nobody entered the room, she lowered her head in disappointment.
