There were a few small treasures that could be found inside the room. The fireflies would always be helpful. They were considered to be a sort of currency from the mansion. Pocketpets would also sell for a fair amount at Piko’s Pets. Once all of that was put away, Leafy could get back to being productive. She found herself momentarily distracted by the small explosions of fireworks.
“Can you even buy any around here? I mean with all of the pets we can have, surely they’re not considered dangerous.” She remarked.
Long stopped to watch the fireworks as well. He first looked at Leafy’s eyes and then followed her gaze. They both stood in silence for a moment, mesmerized by the colours. After a while, Long nudged her legs, bringing her back down to reality. Leafy shook her head, trying to refocus her mind. She sometimes still drifted off into strange places.

Long seemed to understand her in a way that most pets weren’t able. She was appreciative of that and she leaned down to give the Mosca a quick pat on the head. With that sorted out, she went back to her search for a larger table to stack things on. It took her a few minutes of distracted searching to finally find the perfect table. It was made of plastic which meant it would likely bend with too much weight, but it should be sturdy enough.
“Now I just need to plan out the path I’ll be taking.”
Long followed her as she carried the table over to the far wall. She placed it into position and then climbed onto it. The table was stronger than expected. She would still need to test how much weight it could hold, but it seemed okay to at least hold her. Then she jumped.

She landed back on the table, bracing herself in case it broke. She was quite surprised when it absorbed the impact and remained steady. Long watched her carefully, as though expecting her to fall as well. With her test a success she might as well start stacking things on top of the table. She could start with the chairs and see how much height that gave her. With some additional height, perhaps she’d be able to reach the ceiling.
“Chairs will be more unstable, but it’s the best thing I’ve got at the moment.” She grabbed some of the plastic chairs, studying them closely as she considered the best way to stack them.
Long stood to the side, aware that she didn’t want him helping her with this. At least she didn’t have to make her structure with him in mind. If they were going to go up, he could simply fly.

The chairs were simple enough to arrange into a second layer. The difficult part would be stacking them further. She arranged them in a way that felt natural, but she wasn’t much of an engineer. She stepped onto the closest chair, testing to see how sturdy it would be.
“A little wobbly, but it’s going to have to work.” She murmured.
It was a little unnerving stacking the chairs on top of each other. She could only take them so high before they risked toppling over. When she deemed them high enough, she maneuvered herself to stand on top of the stack of chairs. They wobbled underneath her weight and Leafy froze.
“This is nothing. Even if you fall, it won’t hurt that much.” She told herself. Long watched intently. He didn’t look alarmed which she hoped meant he believed in her. He lay down, keeping his gaze focused on her form.

Leafy reached her arms upward. She couldn’t see a ceiling, but that didn’t mean one wasn’t there. As she expected, her hands met with a solid structure. It appeared the ceiling was disguised. She pressed against it with her palms, seeing if she could get it to budge. Surprisingly, it lifted up at a decently light touch. She continued to press the panel up, moving it until an opening was revealed.
“Now that is something worth checking out.”
Long lifted his head at the noise. He seemed to understand that Leafy had found something. Instead of flying up to her, he leaped onto the table. Immediately, her heart jolted, expecting the extra weight to send them both tumbling to the ground. Long was graceful and managed to keep the stack of chairs steadily balanced. He then looked up at her expectantly. He appeared to be waiting for her to continue.

Leafy could understand enough to know that Long wanted her to climb through the opening. Deciding to be bold, she placed her palms on both sides of the opening. She then used what strength she had to lift her body up off of the chairs she was standing on. She tried to move carefully, not wanting to knock the chairs down onto Long. If he was so determined to climb the structure she had made, she’d try not to destroy it. With a little bit of work, she was able to climb all the way through.
“This better hold.” She muttered as she settled down on top of the panels in the ceiling. They had been so easy to push open that she was a little skeptical. Luckily, they didn’t open so easily from this side. A strange design for sure, but it appeared to be effective for some greater, hidden purpose.

She looked through the opening, trying to see if Long would follow her. Her eyes met with his as he sat upon the tower of lawn chairs. He appeared to do this without any assistance of his wings. Leafy scrambled to make enough room for him. A few moments later, he leaped up and landed gracefully next to her.
“Impressive. A bit of unnecessary difficulty, but I’m still impressed with you.” She remarked.
Long shook himself and moved to explore the next level of the room. He didn’t have any worries about the former ceiling giving out underneath their weight. He walked lightly, but that wasn’t unusual for him. Leafy followed him, curious what he would do next. The area they found themselves in wasn’t particularly elaborate. It was empty for the most part, acting simply as a barrier between the last room and the next. But the room could be more than it appeared.

Leafy didn’t know how much time she wanted to spend in this room. There was still the lingering fear that it wasn’t stable. Even if that wasn’t true, she couldn’t quite shake the thought from her mind. The only problem with that was that she didn’t see an obvious door to escape through.
“Guess we will have to stay here for longer after all.” She muttered.
Long appeared pleased with the development. It seemed that this room intrigued him more than it did her. She wasn’t one to dwell on disappointments though. She rubbed her eyes for a brief moment before gathering her nerve to step on the ceiling panels. After a few steps, she grew more comfortable with the area once the panels didn’t give out underneath her weight. Long sat down, his gaze intense as Leafy tested her footsteps. When she seemed fine, he turned away to explore as well.

Wanting to complete her test for how stable the floor was, Leafy stamped down as hard as she could. Surprisingly, the panels remained steady further confirming that they were safe to walk on. Now there was the question of how she was meant to escape from here. Long had crossed the length of the room and was pressing his body against the far wall. If there was a secret passage, that would be an efficient way to check for it. Leafy decided to assist. She used her hands to press against the different sections of the wall that Long would be unable to reach.
“I don’t think any of these walls have any give to them.” She concluded after both of them had finished checking the entirety of the room. The trick to figuring things out would be something different. Leafy was fresh out of ideas for the moment though.

She needed a moment to think. The room was clearly a puzzle, she just needed to try something completely off the wall to get her mojo back. She took one look at the wall and kicked as hard as she could. Her foot went clearly through it. Long trotted over to investigate the commotion.
“I think I’ve figured it out!” She exclaimed.
Destroying mansion property felt wrong in some fashion, but Leafy wasn’t about to question it. She kicked the wall again, noting that it crumbled a bit too easily under the slightest bit of force. She had been so worried about the panels underneath her feet being unstable, that she hadn’t even considered the wall to be the weak point of this room. It took her only a few kicks to bring the entire wall down. She and Long both stepped through the opening into the next room over.

August Antony was a good friend. Leafy hadn’t been her best lately and she needed as much help as she could get in putting the pieces of her psyche back together. Axis was difficult to manage. He snapped at her every chance that he got and she really regretted taking him on. But gosh darned it! She was a true adventurer! This should be easy for her. At least the strange egg seemed to think it should be… “What do you think Antony? Why isn’t this easy?” she asked her Vulticus companion. The Vulticus considered her for a moment with his wolfish gaze before answering. “I believe you might have been misled in your decision to purchase the beast. Though you do have some experience with taming these sorts of creatures before, haven’t you?” Antony as usual, was right. She shouldn’t have anticipated that this would be easy. She gave a quick glance over to Axis. The Gallor was snapping his jaws at whatever insect was brave enough to bother him. She decided to approach him. It wasn’t like Axis hated her, but he didn’t hold much affection for her. She wasn’t even certain he was capable of getting attached to any living creature. She flinched when Axis came close to snapping at her, but she decided to be brave. She stuck her hand out further, risking a quick pat on the top of his head before she quickly jerked back. He had tried to snap at her once more though his jaws only managed to close around air. She had a thick rope tied to him to ensure that he didn’t wander off on his own. For now, that was necessary until he managed to warm up to her. If he ever managed that. She wasn’t sure if this creature was even capable of affection. He was one of the few of his species that hated all of the others.
“Brave, but foolish,” Antony chided her. “You’re supposed to handle him carefully, not get your fingers chewed off.”
Leafy scoffed at him and made a show of rolling her eyes. Antony stepped closer to her and nudged her forward. She took that as encouragement and approached the front steps of the mansion. It looked rather calm, almost unnervingly so. She knew that there could be some dangerous creatures hidden within. The mansion might not be as dangerous as it was during October, but it could still throw anything at her.

Axis was tough to lead closer to the mansion, but Leafy managed to wrangle him in with a bit of elbow grease. Antony watched her with an expression of amusement as she thrust open the door and tried to push Axis through it. She grumbled when the Gallor snapped at her again. She stomped the ground close to him in an attempt to scare him forward. It didn’t work, but the creature soon moved forward of his own accord. She beamed at him once he had made it through the door. She followed him with Antony close behind her. The door swung shut behind them, leaving them at the mercy of the room before them.
“Should be safe here. I don’t smell anything alive,” Antony remarked.
Leafy nodded in agreement. She wouldn’t mind facing something dangerous, but at the moment dealing with Axis would take up all her attention. Her focus just wasn’t where it normally would be. The room was large, perhaps a side effect of Axis considerable enough size. She assumed the mansion wouldn’t be shoving them into any closets anytime soon. The room resembled a beach. In fact she would have assumed she was on a beach if there weren’t walls around them.

The mansion was certainly odd at times. An entire beach contained in a room wasn’t something that most houses had. She supposed this one would be the exception. She tried to approach the water that she could see, but soon found that the waves rolled away from her if she got too close to them. Axis watched the water with curiosity for once. Leafy supposed it was better that he couldn’t touch it. There was no telling what might send him into a fit. Antony made sure to keep his distance from Axis. He wasn’t much of a fighter and the Gallor had a vicious streak.
When she was satisfied that Axis wasn’t about to attack them, Leafy set out to explore the room. Most of it seemed like a regular beach at first glance. There was furniture hastily crafted out of sand. Leafy tried to kick a chair and was surprised to find that the sand sculpture remained firm under the force. Axis turned his head up at the noise and moved closer to see what the commotion was. Leafy tensed for a moment before realizing he wasn’t about to attack her. Antony made sure to keep an eye on them both.
