Half a year ago, San would never have thought it possible that he would be the one spending money that Seveth had earned. And half a year ago, it probably wouldn't have been possible. But time brought change with it, and surprisingly, Seveth was finally starting to pull his weight sometimes... Not all the time, but to the point where San could find him some easier, more manageable jobs, and Seveth could be left to complete them.
Granted, San was also working several jobs, so at this point it was hard to tell whose money it all was. But in a way, he was doing this for Seveth anyway. Training with Rei was going about as well as San expected, which was to say that Seveth would probably never be a passable physical fighter. But maybe if he could learn some other skills through reading, that would be more manageable for him.
"E-Excuse me," he said to the woman who ran the shop. "I'd like some skill books please."

The Questing Inquisitor had been rather quiet lately. Just a few people turning up for credits now and then. It was honestly pretty boring and she did her best to keep the dust off of everything.
"Yep," Jolyne said, holding out her hand expectantly for their card. She looked at him blankly like she didn't particularly care what he did at that point.

San made sure to blink wide-eyed at the woman for a moment, before 'realizing' what she was looking for with a start. "Oh, right, right, I... I had it here somewhere..." He patted his pockets, then dug through them, before taking off his jacket to give it a good shake. The card fell out of a breast pocket instead of where he'd been fishing for it, clattering to the floor. San knelt down and fumbled it once before rising again and placing it into the woman's hand with a nervous smile. "I think I should have enough, but, um, let me know if-- if it's short."
Those who knew him might have thought he was going a bit overboard; it was unlikely that this woman had anything to do with anyone who might be looking for him. But one could never be too careful, and if nothing else, it was important to maintain consistency with a cover.

Jolyne let her stoic expression soften into a little smirk at his antics. Whatever she was thinking, she didn't comment on it. She just waited impatiently for him to get it together and pass her the card.
"Just enough," she said, looking at the balance and reviewing which books he wanted to purchase.
