There were a few things that Renathan hardly ever found when he was mining. He hardly ever found metals, so he was so glad when he did! He also hardly ever found any kind of fossil or amber. He knew of someone that would love some full amber, he'd get a good trade out of hit, he thought. However, he may just have to keep aiming for that and keep on keeping on! He heard Sarabi digging at the wall, though he already knew that she was just digging herself out another geode. Those were not really worth a whole lot to him, but he could deal with it in general. Renathan finally got the metal on the last leg of the race, and then used the pickaxe to pull on it and remove it from the wall finally. It was a pretty large chunk; Renathan was pleased with it! He needed to clean it a bit more, though.

Renathan had been distracted for some time by the metal, especially as he laid the pickaxe near the wall and went to the minecart to get the finer tools. The mammalian had just began removing the carrier stone from the metal when he felt something humming behind him. He hadn't quite heard it before because of how much he was focusing on getting the metal out of the wall and his own humming, but that was DEFINITELY humming coming from the wall that was quite separate from him. The mammalian told himself that it wasn't going to run away or anything, so he would just work on the metal using his tools to remove the last of the carrier stone before going after it. Had this been why Sarabi had stopped here? Not to mention, she was purposefully going after those geodes while he was going after this, wasn't she? He wasn't doing as much digging lately, was he?

That made more sense than he had thought of previously. Renathan quickly finished up cleaning up the metal chunk that he currently had, and then placed it gently in the minecart along with the smaller materials. He took a breath, and then turned back around to the wall. Just beyond where the metal had been pulled out, there was another sort of ore. Renathan was stoked for that; he couldn't believe that he had JUST found another piece of metal! He hadn't found this much metal in such a short excursion basically forever. The mammalian had to come up with a way to get this one out of the wall, next. He could hear Sarabi behind him digging at the wall; it sounded like she finally got that geode out of the wall. He grinned beneath the mask, and then went to work to try to get the third ore out of the wall, excitedly.

It took Renathan quite a bit of work, but he was finally able to get the work done after quite a few practiced swings. He wasn't sure what this metal was either; since it was so hard to see in the mining tunnel. All of the metal he had found today was silvery looking, but he was sure that none of it was actually silver at all; he could generally tell true silver quite easily. Renathan held the hunk of metal in his hand and turned it over. He had to work with this metal first, before continuing to dig. The humming was even louder now, and it was growing super distracting. "Hey, I found more metal, Sarabi." He mentioned as he went for his smaller tools to take the carrier stone off of the metal. He was able to get the metal field-fixed quite well, and then he placed both things into the minecart.

Now it was time to see if there was much else in that hole with the other two veins of metal. He knew that there was a crystal somewhere in there, he could recognize the thrumming by this point, however, he didn't know how long it would take to get to it. When observing the wall, he instead saw a fossil within it! He had never actually found a fossil like this before, and he was excited for it! "Hey, I think I found a fossil!" He called out to Sarabi. It wasn't long before he was removing it, using the smaller tools to clear it away to keep from hurting it. He wasn't sure what kind of fossil this was, be he sure was excited to see it. Renathan removed it happily, and then removed the carrier stone with a practiced ease. He wasn't noticing how late it was getting; they would have to leave soon, he realized after he was done with that.

Renathan was planning on leaving very soon, but he needed to check for that crystal first. The mammalian made sure that everything they had found so far was put into the mining cart, and then he took the pickaxe to the wall again. He didn't see it yet, but he could feel it and hear it. The mammalian kept working, and then finally; he could see a shiny and shimmery blue bit. That was it; wasn't it? Renathan switched to a smaller tool, and began working on removing it from the wall. He kept working, and working, until eventually he managed to get the crystal brought to the surface. It was quite easy to excise it then, thanks to his experience. He held it in his palm curiously; but he had more to work on! Renathan removed as much as he could from the wall before placing it all in the minecart, and then he placed all the things that Sarabi found in there as well. It was time for the two of them to go home!

Renathan wasn't going to be here very long today; thirty minutes at most. He just didn't have a whole lot of time on the break of his work, but he went straight from his place of work (where he had brought Sarabi along to watch) with all of his items to the mines. He needed to find some more gemstones, as many as he could, and well, perhaps other stuff as well. He was hoping that it would be a good trip, despite being only about thirty minutes long. Renathan wasted no time finding one of the nicer areas that he'd been before, the donut-shaped hole in the ground that had the stalactite or stalagmite that had grown together in the middle. The walls always had some kind of gems in them that were eroded out because it filled with water for some reason every time that it rained, flowing down into the groundwater tables below.

Sarabi had been annoyed all day long, in all honest. She had things that she liked to do at home, and when Renathan had brought him with her, she had thought that they were going straight to the mines. Now that they were here, though, she was kind of in a bad mood. Renathan was slowly beginning to be able to tell when she had a bad mood going on, so he felt a little bad. He knew that she was quite intelligent, and he was hoping that she would be interested in what he did during his days, especially since he enjoyed making things at his job. Sarabi was not interested in 'making' anything; she was only interested in gems for whatever reason. Renathan shook his head at her, and then spoke. "Well, we are here now, would you like to help or just stand there?" Renathan said, quietly.

Sarabi didn't recognize the words but she did recognize the tone; since has had been around Renathan for so long, and of course Sarabi was witty. She gave him a quick eyeroll; something that she had picked up from him, and then moved past him, tilting her head to look at the walls. This area was an easy one to mine, thankfully, so Renathan was sure that they would be able to find something, even if they were only going to be here for a short amount of time. Renathan moved to the wall himself and put a leathery palm on it, testing the wall. It was always soft and sedimentary here, generally quite good for having lots of loose stones in it, as he had seen before. He had his fingers crossed that they would find something especially good, today. He was quite the miner himself, and well, Sarabi was the best in his opinion.

While Renathan was inspecting the wall as quickly as possible, Sarabi was scraping at the floor a little bit, before putting her nose to it and sniffing. Renathan had been keeping one eye on her since she was in a bit of a mood, and he tilted his head, glancing back at her worriedly. She looked up, moved over a few feet, and then scratched at the wall again, then put her head down to where she could sniff it with her nose and test it again. "What are you doing, Sarabi?" He hadn't seen her do that before, he hoped that everything was okay and all. "Is something there?" She looked at him, gave him a hmph noise, and then moved over again to repeat the same actions again. Renathan was puzzled; what was going on? He was quite for a good moment, very quiet indeed as he thought.

There was not a whole lot that Renathan could do about Sarabi's bad mood, but he was sure that she would be okay eventually. He turned toward the wall himself, wieldinghis pick axe and leaning his light over the wall to make sure that they would be able to see in this hole. Sure, it was close to the above-ground, but he wanted to make sure nonetheless. Renathan tested the wall with his hands a few times, wondering where he should start. They didn't have a whole lot of time to be here today, after all. After a little bit of decision making, Renathan finally decided on one area. It would seem that a little ways away, that the gargoyle Sarabi had decided upon a certain place in the wall too. Well, hopefully one of them would find something today, that would be the best. Sarabi would be so mad once she found out that they were not going to stay around very long today.

Perhaps a shiny geode could improve the gargoyle's mood.

Renathan wasn't really having any luck with his wall, really. He continued to work on it for some time, like a metronome. The mammalian had been doing this for so long that it was almost comforting to be able to work on the wall mindlessly like this. He wasn't planning on staying for another fifteen minutes, so he wasn't worried about making himself tired. Sarabi, on the other hand, had abandoned the area that she had been working on and selected another one not too far away. Renathan took a moment to look at her curiously. It wasn't often that she abandoned a hole that she made as if she had accidentally chosen the wrong area. He was a bit confused at that, but immediately turned back to the place on the wall that he had selected and been working on and began working again. They probably wouldn't find much today, but this was more for calming than for actual loot.
