Renathan returns the next day; and watches the stallion with a careful eye. The stallion is resting in the center of the field, in the soft green grass looking very demure and calm. There was indeed a reason he had called him Shy Guy; he looked very sweet. That was not the case, however; he still, as Renathan had noticed previous interactions, disliked other humanoids and most other creatures that were not his herd. Luckily, he seemed to have accepted Renathan. Renathan hides; but keeps on him several of the balls from before, just not with the machine right now. He planned on throwing one of them from a random place in the fence to make sure that the training worked. He watched as the Stallion goes to stand up; and then Renathan throws the ball as accurately as he can; right towards the still sleepy equillion. The equillion is completely facing away from the ball; but he can feel something isn't quite right... The stallion quickly gets up and darts away faster than the ball can strike. Renathan was pleased with this.
(That Pale Hind only Here to help training Hardy; she won't be gaining levels)
Renathan had been wondering if it would even be possible to train the next battle ideal for his equillion. All of the other creatures he'd trained to be unafraid of intimidating creatures had been carnivorous naturally. He had no idea if it was even possible for a plant-eater to be trained this. So Renathan carefully places That Pale Hind in the area of the training corral the day before, so that she can fall asleep in a cage he'd brought. She was a very chill sarane, so the cage didn't bother her so much as she was fed. So Renathan quickly allows the stallion out into his training field and then goes out there himself. The idea was to make the stallion feel like he was going to be protecting Renathan from the sarane, who would definitely be a little hungry when she woke up... Yeah, this was probably a bad idea. Luckily, Renathan was a mage, so he could stop the sarane if he needed to.
The stallion could certainly smell something strange in the area; but since this was the park there were plenty of strange smells around here every day. Renathan walks to the fence and leaps it himself, standing in the soft spring grass. His sniffles were nearly gone; and with any luck he'd have his training equipment soon so that they could begin mount training before finishing the battle training. The stallion was tall and seemed a bit bulletproof today; that was certainly good. Hopefully the stallion would be unafraid of the sarane when the time came and make this much less troublesome than it really could be. Renathan pets the stallion gently, helping to cement his happy bond with the equillion so that the training would go quicker here in a little bit. Renathan had checked earlier and the sarane was still sleeping... He quickly clicks the button that opened the cage automatically; so that here in a little while they would have an encounter with the intimidating female sarane.
The stallion couldn't hear the click from all the way across the field, and especially over the wind! The stallion lays down and places his feet to his side, so that Renathan could really get at the Stallion's belly for pets. Renathan eventually grabs his little nubby comb to pet the stallion's itchy belly. Now that the spring was in decent start; the bugs were just starting to come out and annoy the poor beast. After a little while though, the stallion seems to be able to smell something a little stronger. He looks away from Renathan, off to the distance, and flares his nose just a little as he tries to pick up the horrid smell. He doesn't seem to be able to get what the smell was; but it did not smell good. After a moment, he senses what it is, and flicks his long tail. Predator. Predator was near; and it was not Renathan's smell. Renathan continues petting the stallion, pretending to be oblivious.
The stallion's flickering tail was definitely cute though, it almost reminded Renathan of a cat! The stallion really wasn't all that feline-like though, but then again, he acted most often like things that weren't quite horses anyway. The stallion flares his nose again, but he is certainly still not prepared for what happens next. It appears that they had been discovered by the now not quite captive That Pale Hind; who was both hungry and confused as to why Renathan was sitting there with breakfast. Renathan tries his best to look shocked, and frightened. Little did the stallion know; but Renathan was perfectly capable of taking care of himself against even sarane drakes; so it would be difficult for the hen to do any damage to him. However; the stallion thought that he was stronger than Renathan. The stallion was terrified; absolutely terrified. He appears to attempt to get up; but his legs are absolute jelly. The stallion scrambles; but is unable to get up.
Luckily for Renathan; the sarane hen was so confused that Renathan was there that even though her very presence was intimidating; she wasn't really going for the attempted kill in the stallion. The stallion settles back; letting out a weak whiny; and then tries to stand again; his legs scramble but he is just too afraid to have the coordination to get up just yet. Renathan allows himself to become nervous, and thus sent a pang of fear across the link whenever the hen finally seemed to get her witts about her; she decided that since Renathan wasn't doing anything about it, that she would attack the stallion; she was hungry today! She lunged forward with both claws; and the stallion is finally able to get himself to stand up on all four legs; to get away. At this, he stands far away; and runs to the other side of the corral. At this, Renathan subdues the hen with his command; and his magic. This was just the first little attempt; and it was fine for today. He allows his stallion to go back to his own corral; and takes the hen back to the kennel.
(Helicase is only here to help train HARDY, she will not be gaining levels)
Renathan knew that the best thing that could be done to help cement the idea of being unafraid of intimidating creatures was repeated small doses of the intimidating creatures, and repeated 'wins' against these situations in the creature's eyes. The previous situation was a win; since the stallion was able to keep away from the sarane hen without being stuck in place. Renathan wanted to introduce him to ask many scary creatures as possible; so today in stead of using his mute sarane hen, he had his albino wiurn in a similar cage on the property. The day before he had a 'calm' day to help quiet down the stallion and keep from him being terrified permanently. He didn't want to give his equillion traumatic stress; in fact! However, he did not be shown battle situations first; to keep him from being terrified the first time he went into the pit. Renathan walks to the corral with the stallion this time.
The stallion is calm today; like any other day. The spring day was mild and deceiving with it's benign seeming nature; especially since Renathan knew that a rather lazy but terrifying wiurn was nearby. Renathan was not going to let the creature out of the cage to train today; that would be much too dangerous. Instead; he was going to walk his stallion up on it; and test the reactions of the stallion to the creature, hopefully until the creature was able to deal with, and perhaps even be aggressive towards, the intimidating dragoness. Renathan pets the stallion carefully, and then they begin walking around the fence quietly, companionably. Renathan hoped that this would be enough to conquer the stallion's fears, though it was a long shot. Renathan and the Stallion walk around the fence for the longest and eventually begin to get very close to the wiurn's cage. The stallion can smell it now; his spooky, skittish movements were obvious.
Renathan kept walking, even though the stallion seemed to be trying to warn him to stop. The stallion stops, shies a bit, and then continues forward, not wanting to leave Renathan alone with a threat due to his loyal nature. Renathan acts completely surprised whenever they come up on the dragon's cage. The wiurn is completely and utterly enraged to be woken up by the Stallion's various spooked noises; and stands up to growl and scratch at the bottom of the cage annoyedly. It locks it's bright red eyes on the stallion and claws at the bars. The stallion rears up on it's hind legs; looking absolutely terrified; his legs are shaky but not quite as bad as the previous day. He lashes out towards the cage's bars; which helped him by making the confused wiurn back up just a smidge. Suddenly; the wiurn ROARS, stopping the stallion in his tracks. He stands there, legs locked and eyes wide. His nose was flaring super wide.
The stallion stood stark still for the longest as the wiurn roared and growled at him. However, because Renathan was standing there she did not breathe any fire; for his sake. The stallion seems to consider his options, and attempts to force his legs from being locked; they went from locked to jelly, and shook wildly. However, after continued attempts for the wiurn to get to him that ended in nothing occurring; the stallion's muscles seemed to unlock just a little bit... The stallion finally rears back and kicks at the cage; the cage protecting both him and the wiurn. Well; that was all for today! Renathan removes his stallion from the area and then takes the wiurn back home to the kennel. He allowed his stallion back over to the other corral after giving him some treats for his bravery, and lots of nose pets. This training did seem to be getting somewhere after all!
The rest of the week Renathan took the stallion and walked him past a cage, alternating between the hen and the wiurn from before that had been so intimidating. The stallion would at first be locked-legged at each one, and then would seem to regain his footing and attempt to attack them. After the first few days, he hardly spent any time locked-legged, and was mostly shaky and wobbly, obviously affected by the intimidating creatures before him. After a week; Renathan felt like he was ready for the final test; which would hopefully break him from the fear for once and for all.
(Only here to help train Hardy; not here to gain levels) The last creature that Renathan had to use was one of the natural predators of Equillion, if one could call it that. A huge cave vulticus of his that was absolutely terrifying, a hellhound if he'd ever seen one. He wastes no time taking the stallion to this one; who was calm enough to leave outside of a cage. The stallion is not frozen; not this time. His legs are wobbly as the vulticus snaps at him; spittle flying from it's mouth. The stallion takes a quick glance at the 'terrified' Renathan who was behind him, and then steels himself; the quivering stopping altogether. He lowers his horn, and rushes forward without any fear, nor any wobbling. The vulticus holds his ground, ducks, and nips at the stallion's heels a little boredly... The stallion stomps around, threatening the creature with his hooves. Finally; the vulticus moves away reluctantly to hide; since this prey was obviously too spirited and annoying to take down. Renathan was well pleased; he felt like this was the best outcome he could have hoped for. The stallion seemed completely unaffected by this; he stomps and scrapes the ground, creating aggressive snort noises and stamping sounds. Renathan takes the vulticus back to the kennel and then gives the equillion tons of treats and snuggles. Today was a great day!
Renathan was feeling conflicted about what to teach his stallion next, mostly because he could go the 'defensive' route and teach him another strategy that will keep him safe in the future and make way to the next set of training that would help him do that more commonly; namely running and the lengthened duration of such things; but he decides that it would be better to give him another offensive option; since the equillion had just made a breakthrough in his defenses anyway. He wanted to give the stallion a more natural option that would stop him less than using his horn as his main attack strategy. This time, Renathan drew on the inspiration that the stallion did seem to enjoy biting things; so a bite would make a great strategy for an otherwise less offensive animal. Little did he know; but the stallion was really, really ridiculously suited for this particular stratagem due to his poisonous and somewhat corroding mouth.

The stallion was prancing about in his field, nuzzling the ground here and there for a moment, perhaps picking the tenderest shoots from the ground as easily as possible. He was so much more brutal than Renathan's other pures... Still, Equillion seemed to have sensitive mouths, so he figured that he'd do this with a stick first, and then move up some. Renathan hops the fence without much ado; and the stallion instantly perks his head up. He makes his way to the stallion with the stick held low and careful in his hand, so as not to make the stallion think he were to hit him with it (not that he had hit the stallion with sticks anyway; save for the pole when testing the stotting stratagem). The stallion made his way to him quickly. Renathan then realized he'd have to come up with a command word! He thinks for a moment, tapping the underside of his jaw. Then he decides on a rather haunting three toned whistle.

Renathan gently places the stick near the stallion's mouth, not quite touching it, and then gives the haunting three-toned whistle. The stallion perks his ears forward; knowing that he needs to be doing something or another, but doesn't seem to know what he needs to be doing. Renathan gently places the stick even closer to the stallion's mouth, keeping his hand well out of his way. The stallion flicks on ear back nervously. Well, this wasn't going too well so far! Renathan then repeats the haunting three toned whistle and then takes the stick and puts it very close to the stallion's mouth yet again. The stallion leans forward, and then seems to think better of it and leans back yet again. Renathan doesn't want to accidentally hurt the stallion's mouth, but this was very important self-defense training! Renathan sighs and thinks for a moment. Perhaps he should attempt to place the stick in the stallion's mouth?
The stallion seemed to be reluctant to bite the stick, Renathan noticed. He wonders vaguely if the stallion thinks that it may be part of his body; and that may be why he doesn't want to bite it; out of fear of hurting the mamalian? Renathan repeats the haunting three toned whistle and then pushes the stick very close to the stallion's face. The equillion flicks both ears back, and nearly bites the stick but shies away at the last moment anxiously. Renathan sighs a little. The stallion has not been this difficult to teach at anything else they'd worked on, especially the first few tricks. Renathan wondered if this was a bad idea or not, at a moment, and then decides that it was kind of now or never. He repeats the low whistle and then brings the stick to his own mouth; biting it. He knew such things were unsanitary, but he hoped the stallion would know what he wanted after this.

Sevyrn: Player guide doesn't specify so I'm guessing the answer is to wait - am I able to hop back in to roleplaying after getting set back up, or am I to wait until character approval?

Morgan: Are you able to find all of your things on the old site, or do you need assistance in locating them?
Aug 6, 2020 12:48:19 GMT -6
Morgan: Yes, you are totally allowed to grab all of your old stuff. I think the characters are fine to go, as long as they aren't changed (if they are changed, they need to be reaccepted), as for Credits, message Jack with a link to your old account. c:

Sevyrn: Am I able to just grab all my stuff over from the old site? Would the character need to be re-accepted? And what would the deal with old credits be if anything at all? Coming back here would be a fun thing to do on my days off.
