Overview and Physical Description
Name: Noa Saint-Clair
Native Language: Common
Hair: Honey brown, gentle curls
Weight: 134 lbs
(art by Mimipippin)
Build: Slender, unathletic.
Clothes: Comfortable, with a lot of drape. Fine, soft materials - cashmere and silk. Cool colors and elegant designs, but worn in a casual manner unbefitting of their expensive quality.
For a known eccentric living on a property that wouldn’t be out of place in a gothic novel, Noa looks… surprisingly mundane. It's the youth, probably, and the lack of any visible deformities. A third eye would have been much more fitting, but alas, no such luck.
Still, the observant will note that there is something unsettling about him, even upon a passing acquaintance. It isn't threatening, per-se... At least, mostly it isn't. But those who know better don't like to deal with him any more than they have to. It might be the reek of magic about him, or it might just be the sharp tongue and callous manners.
Whatever it is, the master of Gracehaven has few friends. But maybe it's for the best.
Mental and Social Description
Noa self-describes as a 'princess in a tower', but in reality an evil wizard would probably be a more accurate descriptor now. He has magic, he has minions, and certainly some people would like to lecture him on the moral bankruptcy of a few of his ventures. Or maybe that's just the legacy of the Gracehaven name, though he understands his parents were more subtle about it.
If something doesn’t interest him, he just doesn’t bother with it. Chores and other such humdrum daily tasks are at the top of that list, but that’s what assistants and house-cleaning robots are for. For that matter, social niceties don’t always seem very worthwhile either, so Noa often comes off as tactless or blasé. It doesn't help that he likes to be amused, and that he finds the discomfort of others amusing. He can ape the gist of gentler manners when the occasion calls for it, but even when he's trying, he doesn't always get the details right. Something something sheltered upbringing, something something not enough time with his peers. It is what it is.
But the thing is, his days are numbered and he knows it.
It won't be in the next five years if his luck holds, but after that there's no telling. And so the question becomes one of how a dying man ought to conduct himself. Noa still hasn't come to a definitive answer, though he yet holds some hope that he might not have to, if his efforts bear fruit. Still, with the spectre of his own mortality hanging over him, his interests and moods shift, sometimes mercurially, and sometimes in great bouts of passion. His skillset is an eclectic mix of anything that catches his fancy long enough for him to develop some proficiency with it. And despite the frailty of his body, his pursuits aren’t strictly cerebral either. Beneath a lazy, shiftless exterior, Noa has a fierce streak - some sort of urge to prove himself - and there is a part of him that likes to find challenges to overcome simply to show that he can.
And beneath all that, well...
Sometimes... Sometimes Noa feels as though none of this is real. Sometimes Noa feels like there's pieces missing - or as though he's teetering on the edge of a great and terrible chasm, at the bottom of which some unspeakable horror lies.
But not very often. Or at least, he doesn’t let himself dwell on it for long, anyway. Time isn't really a luxury he has in abundance, when it comes down to it.
