Renathan jerks his hand back quickly, and takes about four rapid steps back, escaping tendrils of ivy up until they just couldn't reach any more. The stallion's nose was grasped, but he managed to shake it away and deliver rapid kicks to move himself away from the offending tower. Renathan was breathing hard, staring at the tower as the ivy writhed upon it, his mind racing. The stallion seemed just as shocked; he's just had to save Renathan twice now; within ten minutes of one another. Understandably; the stallion hates this place; it was dangerous and full of predators. He nudges Renathan away from the cursed tower, and Renathan could honestly barely breath and hardly move. He stared at his wrist, which still had the marks on it from the ivy. The ivy had left a good bruise on his wrist, even under his fur. He touches the wrist with the other hand. The damage was superficial, thankfully.
Renathan is shocked, and can't really understand what is going on here. Sure, he knew this was going to be a difficult thing to deal with today; but he had no idea that the Mansion would be, well, out to get him maybe? He swallows thickly, and places his hurt hand on the equillion's mane and keeps his eyes glued on the vicious ivy that was now writhing about on the once-beautiful tower. Perhaps it was looking for another victim? Just below the ivy, where the base was writhing against the ground, Renathan could just see glimpses of shimmering ivory... Was that a bone? Renathan stares down at the ivory at the bottom, until eventually he can see it; a skull. Renathan can't remove his eyes from the tower. It was slowly beginning to lose it's glamour, little bit by little bit. Renathan clenches his hand into the equillion's mane and tries to catch his breath.
The Tower was losing it's glamour, at first it simply began to look more crumbled; and soon the paint was peeling off. Renathan watches in both awe and terrror as the once pristine white paint turns beige and rust-spattered and peels off in large strips. The stallion stamps a foot and steps back just barely, tossing his head a little. Renathan tries to calm the stallion; as they were out of the range of the whipping vines and probably could not be hurt. The paint peels off and reveals crumbling rock bricks, which seems to become sand by the second. The writhing vines turn black and then veiny; shaking and making the softest, strangest ticking noise. They seem to grow; and become fleshlike. Suddenly, the tower was a gibbering mass of flesh and veins, with various sensory organs of varying sizes squelching about. Renathan takes a few more rapid steps away quickly, the equillion doing the same.
The gibbering mass doesn't seem to be able to move; but it does do one thing; SCREAM. Renathan covers his sensitive ears as fast as possible; and the stallion stomps both front legs, and takes a step forward. Renathan is rendered completely immobile by this horrid noise; but thanks to his excellent training the stallion is not hindered. He lets out a screech of his own, and then rushes at the gibbering mass with his horn; just as a giant maw begins to form on the great fleshy mass. The stallion performs a quick maneuver to whip his entire body to the other side of the great maw and essentially dodge a bite thanks to his sense of danger. The great thing is struck by Shy Guy's long and sharp horn; just as Renathan had taught. The stallion is just able to back away as the tower-turned-flesh mass collapses into a foul liquid and spills across the ground.
The stallion quickly steps away from the stinking liquid; it smelled like putrefying corpses, or a flower made to draw flies perhaps? It also appeared to be sticky... Renathan removes his hands from his ears; but they are still ringing. He shakes his head quickly, and takes a few steps away from the widening pool of stinky liquid himself. He tries to focus his mind but the ringing persists. He climbs on top of a nearby rock and sits down, cradling his head and trying to regain his composure from the wretched screech. The stallion of course is much less affected by this. Perhaps it had been some kind of psychic ability that had been used by the Mansion's strange tower? Renathan watches the sticky liquid as it slowly soaks into the earth; killing all of the grass and smoldering... Some type of withering acid? Renathan definitely didn't need to be anywhere near this.
As Renathan slowly regained his sensibilities, he came to the realization that this trap had been specifically catered to him, it appeared; it was interesting and neat looking, beautiful even; but then it became both of his worst fears; acidity and psychics. He had his reasons for not doing well with these; but it was like the Mansion was toying with him; and this month was the month of Chaos; he was not smart to have decided to come here during the month of Chaos, where the Mansion would be playing probably quite dangerous games with the mind and perhaps even the body. Renathan sits on his rock and finally feels his heart stop hammering. The grass was dead and the smell of rotten eggs permeated the area. However, just as his equillion makes his way over to Renathan on his nearby rock; the area begins to change yet again.
The ground that had the grass killed by the strange withering liquid was quickly beginning to be pushed up by... Something. Renathan swallows again as he sees the bright ivory bones sink into the ground; the ones that had made the ivory tower what it was; he assumed? He wasn't really sure how all of this had worked, not really. He was making guesses, and he hoped they were good ones. Renathan watches as whatever horrible thing was going to come out of the pushed-up ground bits, thousands of them it must have been by the looks of it; finally emerged from their tiny subterranean pockets. It was- grass? He tilted his head slightly as he watched, and suddenly the growth was near exponential; soon there was a swaying field of wildflowers where the ivory tower had once been. Renathan once again is stunned to silence. He can't believe what has just happened, yet again.
The swaying wildflower field was beautiful; but Renathan knew from the aching in his head and wrist that it was dangerous. He didn't want to be yet another set of sun-bleached bones in this place; this strange hellish land that surrounded this mysterious mansion. Was there even someone that lived here? Who would have the power to do something like this? He was a mage himself, and couldn't do anything even remotely on this scale! Renathan did really want to check out the positively giant field of mysteriously beautiful flowers, but the look that was on his equillion's face was definitely keeping him from trying. The stallion steps in front of Renathan and paws the ground, his head lowered at the great field of glossy flowers. The light glinted off of the bright fuschia colors, deep crimson, soft yellows and blues, and striking orange and purple flowers in the field in a way that was impossible, making them gorgeous and dazzling.
The glossy field of flowers seemed unending in it's serenity and beauty, but Renathan knew that something probably mentation-defying would happen next. How was he supposed to expect that all of these things would happen? He had known it would be dangerous, but not like this. Renathan watches as the stallion continues to wait for the danger that Renathan cannot see, and eventually something does appear; what appears to be a small pink rabbit of some kind. It was not like a yumenokei; no, it was much more like a simple normal rabbit. Only of course pink. Yeah, that didn't make much sense. The way the stallion seemed to react to it made even less sense; it was still pawing the ground and aiming up much, much higher than the pink bunny was. Was there an actual threat behind the pink bunny, in the great near-forest of tree-sized wildflowers? Renathan stays on his rock, still recovering from the SCREAM.
The pink rabbit sits there, wiggling it's nose, and then it scratches it's ear with it's hind leg. The tiny rabbit was quite cute; with it's bright and huge soft blue eyes like the sky... But the stallion is not fooled. Since Renathan is weak against psychic powers he is completely tricked by the fae powers that masked this horrid creature; and made it look like a rabbit. However, the stallion was not and could see the great thing that was there; the horrendous eldritch horror of a thing in front of them. It was a mass of endlessly shifting limbs and tentacles, a mass of heads and teeth and fists... It was absolutely horrendous; with no eyes. For now, the creature was simply standing there, the stallion was ready to defend Renathan if needed. He snorts, shaking out his slick mane and letting a noise fall from his nostrils. He brandishes his horn at the creature, swaying gently.
Renathan has finally recovered from the horrible SCREAM from earlier; and he's beginning to notice odd things about the little cutesy pink bunny. It was beginning to lose it's form; it was fuzzy in a blurry, unrendered kind of way. The air around it was shimmering up to a very tall height; about as tall as he was antlers and all. He squints, and rubs his eyes before taking another look. He could hardly see the pink rabbit now; he was seeing things he couldn't explain. A shifting mass of flailing flesh and bones it seemed? He wasn't sure what to think about what it was; but his stallion had seen this kind of thing from the start it seemed. Perhaps the SCREAM had made him more susceptible to future glamours? Or maybe he was bad at seeing through the glamours to begin with perhaps... The more he thought about it; the more it made sense.
Renathan was just beginning to realize how bad this idea really was; but this creature thing that he could hardly see was definitely taking the cake. He was already being affected by the fear it was causing in the air around it now that he can no longer see hide nor tail of the bunny; the creature was slowly becoming visible in front of him. His heart was hammering; he'd never seen anything like it; and thus couldn't do what he normally did with his own pets and remind himself that they are at least somewhat beholden to him typically. Renathan watches his stallion paw the ground once more before the opponent finally makes it's strange movement; dropping a few of it's horrific limbs onto the ground and allowing them to flop about. Renathan watches with a disgusted expression on his face. He's definitely not seen that before either; but his stallion isn't going to have any of that.
The stallion stand still; intent on protecting Renathan at whatever the cost. Renathan reflects for a single moment on those times that the stallion would not allow him to touch him; how far they have come from that kind of antagonistic behavior! Renathan sits still on the rock, not wanting to edge off onto the grass that could be affected by the strange acid; when the opponent's strange flopping detached limbs that shifted seemed to stay in one form; one a tentacle, two pairs of humanoid but vaguely furry huge arms, an equine leg, and what appears to be some kind of snake-tail hybrid. The limbs suddenly spurn into action; rushing the huge stallion at one time. Suddenly; the stallion rears up and begins stamping; stepping on any of the limb detachments that get beneath him in their seeming attempt to grab the pair. Renathan is nearly too shocked to perform any kind of attack; he instead stands up and takes a few steps back.
The stallion manages to stamp the strange equine leg into a slightly smoldering acidic mush; that made the ground at his feet smolder and the grass wither and die immediately. Of course the stallion is immune to all poisons due to his own biology; so the poisonous smoldering goop has no affect on him. He stamps some more, and aims a ferocious romping kick at a single of the beefy furry humanoid arms; kicking it into the rock and having it splattered into the rock as the acid. The acid does not seem to affect the rock at the moment right now, which is definitely good Renathan thinks. He backs up again, now on the back edge of the rock as the stallion defends itself and him. The stallion is grabbed by the other thick furry arm in progress; it's crushing grip on the stallion's back leg. Before it can crush down; Renathan uses a quick swipe to gain it's attention to him instead; so it follows him onto the rock and drops the stallion's leg as it kicks.
