Or at least what they thought was the direction of the gate, at some point they encountered another couple of critters flittering around a red lantern hanging on a low branch. Small explosions of leaf flowers now that they traveled more than just staying in one place, happened more often, so the colorful confetti fell and tended to obscure their vision while they walk. Only when they where two meters away from it all did it get noticed by Claw what was happening at the spot, and taking quick action he kneels down only long enough to place the sparking stick into the ground and then made sure to shrug off the backpack slowly enough not to dislodge the butterfly in his hair, opening the backpack fully where the small cage is located.
Opening the cage just enough to make it easy for him place a critter inside he carefully plucks the insect from the air at the right moment, and with some quick maneuvering capturing the small flame as well. Taking note of all the critters inside long enough to make certain they didn't start killing each other off before packing that up back in the bag, and then carefully putting out the fire the of lantern. Placing that inside the backpack once he is sure no small fire is going to start. Closing it halfway, he then picks up the bag, and places it on his back once more. Making sure the straps are sitting comfortable for him, he then picks up the stick, and they are off again.
It might not have taken them so long if they hadn't gotten lost within the forest at some point, taking a couple wrong turns that made it take them a hour to reach it after the last encounter they had with the lantern and two critters.
Claw only lingering long enough at the mansion to have her creep right past him and out on the street, a grimace plastered on his face the whole while as they head to the kennels because she came too close to him.
Yet.. Yet, the small butterfly that lingers on him, and flutters off his head only to land on his shoulder seem to be capable of making him smile again.
Should she be jealous? In a way, she already is..

‘ Breath in, breath out..’ He feels his body still shake in reaction to what happened a day ago, he wishes he could forget, but he can’t. The memory keeps playing out in his mind, he can’t sleep, and staring at the ceiling while trying, just makes him feel more tired then moving around. He already developed bags under his eyes from staying awake for so long, and he can’t help but wonder if he will revisit that day in his nightmares. Perhaps, he doesn't even have to wonder when his own mind can't keep those thoughts away. He shakily breaths in again, as deeply as he can, holding it inside for two seconds, and then letting it out. He raises a hand to pet Dysis carefully, the thick fur covering her body feels pleasant under his fingertips while she lets out small chirps, not seeming to mind that his hand is shaking faintly, enough that it will be noticeable. *1

He can’t seem to make his body stop shaking from the ordeal that happened. Waking up after being tortured near an altar, and feeling like he misses a part of himself that is vital to his very being... Seeing three beings look down so coldly at him, he wasn’t certain if he had fallen off the alter when he woke up, or something else was going on at that moment, but he grabbed the nearest thing he could see that was on the alter and threw it in their direction with a scream of anger before turning around and running away as fast as he could from them, that he tripped halfway and fell all the way down the rest of the stone stairs makes him feel at least lucky enough that he escaped with only bruises. “Chrr?” The nudge of Dysis head against his hand makes him realize he had stopped petting her as a way to distract himself from his own thoughts. “I’m fine..” He says hoarsely to Dysis, he’ll just have to keep telling himself that until the shaking stops, it has to.

He hopes it isn’t a mistake to come to the mansion with Dysis as an extra distraction, the piece of landscape is said to always be changing each month to something new, but he hasn’t come here often enough to say that is true with certainty. He shivers slightly at the temperature as he opens and closes the gate of the Eccentric Mansion, stepping inside to a place that seems almost as normal right now as the one outside of the gate. For autumn is making its way now, and while here the leaves are more orange then green on the trees, he almost feels disappointed in its normalness, Almost. ‘Just try to find something of worth, something to do. Don’t fall ah-’ He yawns loudly as he walks on the path leading to the mansion, ‘sleep.’ absently looking with tired eyes at the trees, and feeling Dysis rub her head against his chin, chirping in a questioning tone he isn’t giving an answer to.

They certainly looked normal, bright orange and red leaves drifting down to the ground slowly in a lazy pattern. What would it be like to just be a leaf? Feel nothing? No worries, no pain, just living in the moment? He sighs as he noticed he stopped walking, just staring in the distance for however long it took him to notice it. The chirping of Dysis is just a bit louder than it was a moment ago, but he doesn’t mind it. He just raises his hand to stroke her again, not even wondering if it would quiet her down as he walks again, the nudging of Dysis head against his hand as she turned herself around o it enough that he isn’t petting her back while she is clinging on his shoulder makes him pause for just a moment as he looks at her with tired eyes. “Chrrr? Chrr.” He sighs as he looks away from her again, if she really wanted to be heard and understood, she should be using the damn ribbon instead of keeping him guessing.

The walk towards the doors of the mansion seemed to take both forever and not so long either, he can say with certainty that the pain of the bruises he developed from the stairs, and the shaking in his limbs seem to make moving around more difficult then it would be normally for him, but as he also doesn’t have anything to do for a while. No pressing concerns he has to attend to, no need to feed the creatures at the kennel as he got a Trod to do the work for him, he doesn’t worry about losing time. He feels the brush of Dysis’s wings as she opens and closes them, her little legs clinging tighter to his shoulder as he his right hand to open the door, and move his shoulder enough that were she not alert to the shifting of his limbs, she might at some point fall of him if she doesn’t watch out when he makes those shifting movements quick enough. “…” He feels the warmth hit his face like a heatwave as he enters the first room.

He blinks, distracted momentarily with the sight of two tables filled with goblets of unknown liquids and different assortments of food, the sight even seemed to distract Dysis as she quiets down for a moment, wings fluttering at the back of his neck as it is smacking lightly against him. ‘Food!’ He flinches at the sudden mental voice shouting at him, enough to make him take a step back out at the door, but Dysis has other plans. Fluttering with her wings in a faster pattern she lifts off his shoulder and practically zooms at the tables, hovering only a moment before the tables to choose the one that seems to have a dish serving a large turkey stuffed to the brim with other types of food in it. He stares momentarily at the sight of her tearing into the turkey, wondering if she would be able to eat the whole thing when she is only a quarter big compared to the roasted turkey. “…” Sighing he steps inside fully, closing the door behind him.

Did he make the right choice in taking her along? She is certainly a brat compared to Envix, but then again, he also isn’t in the mood to be distracted with her kind of jokes. He’d likely gain flashbacks from that event, so in a way he guesses Dysis might be for the best. Shakenly he makes his way to the table Dysis is at, wondering if he should stop her from tearing into the meat without regard for who might have set it aside to eat from later. Blinking slowly, he eyes the table before him. The way everything is placed seems to indicate the person who did it expects many guests to show up, but in that case, where is the host who made it? Shouldn’t he be here? He sees his hand is still trembling as he reached out to Dysis, carefully picking her up by scooping her up at the belly. ‘You’ve had enough.’ He says firmly in his mind to her, how she ate more then a quarter from the turkey while he.. Had he been staring too deep in thought when she did that? He could have sworn it was only a minute that she had been eating.

‘Food?’ He looks down at Dysis while feeling incredulousness at asking for more food as she looks up at him with her big bright blue eyes. Where is she keeping it? She might be a little bit heavier and plump now, but no where near what the eaten bits of turkey should have weighted as. ‘No.’ He decides resolutely, with his other hand he presses her more to his chest so that she won’t be tempted to go after the food. At least she kept it at only the turkey and nothing else. Blinking slowly as he looks further at the room, he notes there is a fireplace by the far wall and two doors leading to somewhere else. Should he try to look further? Or stay and warm up some more? Dysis doesn’t give nearly as much warmth compared to the fireplace that is used for the whole room. Yawning for a moment, he decides that the warmth might put him to sleep if he isn’t careful, so exploring the different rooms might be for the best.

Tiredly he walks to one of the doors while keeping a squirming Dysis pressed against his chest. That she is trilling in her own language to be let go off, and get more food is something he tries his best to ignore. He still remembers how she didn’t mind eating a mutated Drake corpse within a minute after Envix and Seraiah were able to kill with their teamwork. Maybe he should invest at some point in a collar that will return her at his side the minute she tries leaving him? It bares consideration. When he comes close to the door handle he takes a hold of it and presses it down to open the door, pulling the door to him he starts shivering as just like when he opened the door of the mansion and feeling the warmth of the room hit his face, he now feels the cold of the air. He only takes a moment to look briefly if this is the door he wants to take. The rather odd sight of a seeing the night sky with a full moon makes him hesitate for only a moment. He knows it is still day time, and yet…

Deciding it doesn’t matter that it looks as if hours had passed in the what he thinks of as a reception room of the mansion, he steps inside the new room on the landing of some stairs made out of natural stones, the room doesn’t even feel like a room, and more a garden where different types of plants are growing down below from what he can tell at least a little with the moonlight shining upon it. He doesn’t even see the walls of this room, but perhaps it just stretches really far away? Looking back at the door just as he wants to start closing it, he feels aside from the general exhaustion of not wanting to sleep for what might be twenty-four hours ago? Maybe more? He knows he is likely to crash if he keeps it up for another day, but he doesn’t mind it that much. He just needs to keep himself occupied enough that hopefully when it does happen, he won’t land into that nightmare of a place being sacrificed on a alter with that strange dagger hovering over his stomach. Would it have been better if he threw the dagger at those three beings instead of what seemed like a small gray marble? He doesn’t know. “Huh?” He blinks tiredly as he finally focusses on the door again. Where are the walls? “Trrrr!” Dysis squirms all the harder to be let go off as she notices he had hesitated with closing the door.

Slamming the doors closed before Dysis gets it in her head she should fly back to the feast, he watches perplexed as the door seems to disappear? Wait? what?! He tries to make a grab for the door handle but his hand goes right through it, its almost as if the door became a ghost as he can still faintly see the outline of it. “Why?” He sighs, why did he think this type of distraction was a good idea again? Clearly a few of his braincells has rotten all the while he had been staying awake. With a trembling hand he strokes Dysis head as he relaxes his grip on her, getting a questioning trill for it as she starts clinging to the front of his leather coat. Glancing for only a moment at the door that turned into something ethereal again, hoping that it was just his imagination that played a trick on him, he feels his hope for it is crushed, it still has that ghost like touch to it.

Maybe it has some kind of a timer on it after the door is closed? If that could be the case.. He turns his gaze out at the field, shivering not from the cold but the idea that he could be trapped here for however long it is needed till the door is tangible again. Might there be another doorway leading back to the room again? There where two of them after all. He feels the need to yawn again, but he grinds his teeth together in order to suppress the movement, and succeeds somewhat with it. ‘No use staying here I guess.’ Carefully he descents down the stairs as Dysis decides to start climbing to his right shoulder, her wings fluttering the slightest and hitting him at his cheek. He is lucky she isn’t all that strong or it could have hurt when she did that. “Triii!” Dysis trills in triumph as she adjusts her position just enough so that she is facing the same direction he is in order to look around at where they are going.

If she would actually ask that of him, he wouldn’t be able to tell her, as he honestly didn’t have much of a clue of where they should go, he just decides to go left once his boots touch the earth of the strange garden, taking care to not trip over the twisting vines when a lot of them are going almost in a cluster together, the moonlight shining on the plants giving only enough warning to him that he is going to step on them. Then there are those weird growths on them, he isn’t quite able to tell what it is. Only that it is big and round or elongated in some cases, there isn’t enough light to make out what it could be exactly, just that it is something growing together with the vines and that stepping on it makes it either just like a stone he could step on and be able to bear his weight, or it breaks apart and his shoes are covered in something sticky, that smells of something familiar. At least Dysis doesn’t seem to be too interested in the sticky concoction on the ground whenever it happens, sure her antennae twitch against his cheek, and she may make the occasional trill, but at least she isn’t flying off him.
