The Mansion looked... odd this month, but that wasn't the oddest thing she'd seen in awhile. With it's twisted roof and mangled gardens, the halfbreed she had with her looked just right and fit in wonderfully. She smiled a little bit and shook her head as they looked down from the hill they stood on overlooking the Mansion. She didn't know what they were going to do in the Mansion, of course, or if they were just going to stick with the gardens for now. It was something she figured they were going to have to figure out sometime soon if they were going to play around the Mansion, of course, but until then she figured they would just stick around outside of it, it got a little cramped for a halfbreed of this size, after all. Jack smiled and stroked his short mane as she sat on the saddle on his back. This would get interesting.

Things were never what they appeared when it came to the Mansion, and Jack was fine with that. She put some pressure on the halfbreed's sides with her legs and he started a slow walk forward, weaving left or right, wherever he needed to go as she guided him from his back. Things were going to go well in the Mansion this month, she just had a feeling of it at the moment, but until she figured out if she was actually going to find anything, well, that was the issue. Jack wasn't sure if she would find anything or not, but that wasn't really the issue right now, she wanted for Ergo to get used to her a little better, make sure he could learn some of the more complicated moves she had planned for him, but that wasn't going to happen if he didn't trust her. He needed some more experience, and the Mansion was the perfect place for it to happen.

Perhaps the more time they spent together, the more he could learn like any other animal she had spent some time with before him. Of course he was only really taught to be a mount at this point, both on the ground and flying, but she wasn't going to bother trying to get him to swim, she didn't think his front legs would be beneficial to that kind of thing at this point. She smiled a little and hoped that things would turn out well, but she really had no idea of that at the moment. Jack just shrugged as they rode closer to the Mansion, hoping they would get there soon so they could start searching for things on the grounds. Honestly, she doubted they were going to find anything, least of all one of the animals that stalked the Mansion this month, but hey, at least she had a goal for the Mansion this month, she thought.

Things were looking up for her at the moment in the Labs, she was back to training, and while none of her Orbaru or Pachee had their babies yet, at least they were still pregnant and doing well, nothing was wrong with them, they just... hadn't had their babies yet. It was odd, but stuff like that tended to happen in the Labs from time to time. The same with Sarane, they just... didn't want to breed anymore, which was odd, but maybe it had something to do with the big baby boom they'd had before all this. Jack sighed a little and patted Ergo on the neck, at least she didn't have to worry about him doing anything strange like that she supposed, feeling a little closer to the halfbreed now than she had during training. It didn't matter though, she thought, at least things were going to go well for them when they went back to the Park.

Nothing bad was going to happen as long as she stayed positive. Or at least... that's what she hoped. Jack smiled a little at the thought and then shook her head, strange things happened in the Mansion, she didn't really have a choice in what happened of course, but that didn't matter too much at the moment. Giving the halfbreed a little nudge, she pulled him up in the air as he walked forward so he flew over the little wall and gate surrounding the Mansion, considering it was too high for him to jump over, and really, she hadn't taught him how to do that yet anyway. Leaning forward, she urged him back to the ground and the pair looked around the gardens for a little while. The trees were... different, changing every time they looked back at them, and the grass was no better, changing colors every chance it got at the moment. It would be interesting at least, it always was in the Mansion.

Already Ergo seemed stronger, but she wasn't sure how much stronger he really was. It happened in little increments, and she hoped that it was going to be for the better and not for the worst. It should be for the better at least, he was getting stronger and all that, which was a good thing, she just hoped he didn't turn against her now considering he was getting stronger. She chewed her lip for a moment and wondered what they were going to do about things right now. A sigh escaped her after that and she shook her head, he wouldn't turn against her, even though she got a little dizzy from time to time when she worked with him, well... that was to be expected if he didn't like something she did. He bucked for a moment, his eyes flashing, and she held onto the reins as hard as she could as she looked around to see what had spooked the spookless, dead eyed halfbreed.

There was something in a nearby tree that had shot out and then back into the foliage. Jack frowned a little and soothed the halfbreed for a moment, trying to understand what was going on at the moment. She didn't know what to expect from the gardens, but nothing was going to come for free, they would be worried and scared for awhile she suspected. Nothing was going to keep her from exploring, however. Nothing was going to run her off, and she was sure nothing was going to run Ergo off either, he was starting to become too loyal to her, he wouldn't spook and run off, he was going to stick around no matter what. It might be a fault in the loyalty of some of the creatures, but she didn't know what else to expect from things at the moment. She sighed a little bit and urged Ergo over toward the tree as his eyes faded back to their typical dull look.

The tree was just a tree, with red leaves and a brown trunk, though the next time she looked at it she was sure it would have balloons for leaves and a purple trunk or something. Luck and chaos indeed, those were the themes for the month she knew, depending on what gods were in focus that month, but did she actually believe in the gods? That was the biggest question, though something bigger than her was happening in the Mansion every month, but she still didn't know what to believe. She sighed a little and touched the trunk of the tree, plucked a leaf from the foliage, and then sniffed it a little. A little stopped up in the nose, she couldn't smell much, but at least she got the hint of something fresh. That was good to know, she just wanted to know what was in the tree that had worried the halfbreed so much.

Everything was going to be okay, at least that's what she told herself as she let the leaf drop to the ground and she dismounted from the halfbreed's back. She flipped the reins over Ergo's head so she could lead him around, and then she told him to stay put. A glance up into the tree showed signs of life, a few broken branches, some crumpled leaves, and a set of eyes that disappeared as soon as she saw them. A frown crossed her face, she didn't know what to do at this point, but that was alright, she figured she would climb the tree for now and see if she could find out what that was and all that, see if she could catch it, maybe it was one of those Catterfly's that were around the Mansion at this point in time. Giving the halfbreed a reassuring smile, she started to climb the tree to see what she could find.

As she climbed, the halfbreed kept his dead eyes on her, nothing flashed through them, and there was barely a conscious thought in his mind as he watched her, seeing through her more than seeing her at this point. There was something up there and it had sparked his primordial brain a little, something he would be ashamed of if he was capable of emotion in his natural state. His mind was too powerful, it could scramble itself if he tried too hard, so he had learned long ago to dampen his thoughts, keep things simple, and it was a second nature of himself to do so. He was beyond so many of the other animals, it was hard for him to find something to care about, but for some reason the woman had weaseled her way into his heart a little bit, and he learned that he cared for her for some reason, which he didn't know why.

As she climbed the tree, it seemed to be getting taller and taller, and it was very likely that it really was getting taller with the magic in the Mansion. Jack sighed a little and looked down at Ergo who was staring up at her with his dead eyes, and she wondered if he was really looking at her or through her. It was possible it could be both somehow, he had a strange mind, that one, and she wasn't sure if she wanted to know what was going through his mind at the same time. She grunted and kept climbing, finally reaching some of the foliage and she found a thick branch to sit on. While she wasn't sure what was going on in the halfbreed's mind, she was sure she didn't want to know at the same time, and she again though about giving him a Ribbon. It was something she was going to have to think about for awhile though...

Jack swung her legs back and forth as she sat on the branch like a little girl, a big grin on her face as she looked around the tree limbs and leaves. They were still red at least she figured, they hadn't changed on her yet, which was fine by her considering she was actually in the tree at the moment and all, but she assumed they would change the moment she got back out of the tree. At least she could always called Ergo up into the sky to get her if she couldn't climb down... that wasn't something she had thought about until now. Huh, well, oh well she figured with a frown on her face. Well, it was time to find out what that animal was, she figured, maybe it was a Catterfly that she could catch. That would be nice wouldn't it? It was actually an animal she hadn't had the chance to catch yet, and she knew they were rare.

There was definitely something up there; a strange staff covered in vines that seemed to sparkle was the first that could catch an eye. This staff almost appeared to have grown straight of the tree; but could certainly be removed easily, since it was now simply resting upon a branch or two. Beside this staff a lantern could be found; glowing an eerie bright green that was certainly abnormal. The staff and lantern were the most obvious decorations up in the tree; but not very far from a certain human flitted a green hummingbird of some sort; checking through the trees with interest. The creature was quiet but curious and cautious; the mansion could be dangerous, and this was all the life it had known. It watches the human with interest; and darts to the lantern to rest upon it. As she went to start climbing again, something caught her eye, it was a staff, covered in vines, just barely attached to the tree. A smile crossed her face and she reached out to pluck it from the trunk and then dropped it to the ground next to the Equiloss. The halfbreed faltered for a moment, but stuck to his spot because of the command she had given him before climbing the tree. He wondered what the point of it was, but that was alright, he didn't really care as much as she might hope anyway. Jack chuckled a little and went to climb again, but then something else caught her eye, a pretty green lantern with something flittering around it. As she reached out to grab the lantern, the something landed on it and stared at her with big eyes, and she smiled a little bit at it, reaching out to pet the pretty little bird.
