Jack reached out for the little bird and it hopped onto her finger, tilting it's head a little to see what it could see. It had to know the Mansion was dangerous, but it also had to know that things worked out for the best around people like her. While she didn't know the master of the Mansion, who it was or what it was, she was sure it knew that people typically meant a release from this place, and it cuddled up to her as she held onto it with a single finger. It looked like a hummingbird, it probably was, and as she picked up the green lantern and let it slowly fall to the ground next to the staff, it finally lifted off of her finger and went after it, perching on it again when it finished landing on the ground. Jack smiled a little, it looked like she had a new friend after all, though it wasn't the Catterfly she was after.
Well, the Catterfly wasn't going to find itself if she just stayed where she was, or at least, she hoped it was a Catterfly and not something a little more nefarious. That would be the worst, she figured with a grim look on her face as she started to sort through the red leaves. Maybe it would be best to strip the tree of leaves and see if she could find the beast, but she wasn't going to do that to a living plant. Or at least... she hoped it was living. She eyed it nervously and then shook her head, she had nothing else to go on, so that's what she was going to think for now at least. Jack nodded to herself, everything here was alive, she thought, and as she checked down on Ergo for a moment, she wondered how he was faring with the Mansion and all of it's peculiarities for now.
Ergo simply didn't care about the Mansion or anything in it, he only cared about himself, to an extent, and the woman, again, to an extent. He was becoming more and more fond of her the more time he spent with her of course, but he didn't know what was expected of him at this point either. Jack waved to him from up in the tree and he just stared through her with pale blue eyes, wondering what that meant, was it a command or something? He then stared down at the items she had thrown down beside him, leaning down to sniff at them a little bit, seeing what was going on. They reeked of magic, and while he wasn't magical, not in the least, his brain at least put the pieces together from what was going on. This place was magical, and he wasn't sure he was entirely comfortable here, but if the woman brought him here, it must be for a good reason.
All Jack could do was chuckle at the expression on the halfbreed's face whenever he sniffed at the objects next to him. Things were magical around here, and she wasn't sure he could wrap his mind around them, as high minded as he was. He was much too clever for his own good, but at the same time, he couldn't understand simple things, it seemed. Frowning a little, she turned back to going through the leaves, trying to find what the eyes she had seen so long ago were attached to. She really hoped to find a Catterfly, but she wasn't going to try too hard, there were only a few more days of the month left and then something else would show up in the Mansion. That was alright though, she wasn't really banking on finding a Catterfly, it would just be rather nice if she did find one is all. Even if it ran away, it would still be nice to see one.
Maybe it was just her imagination, or maybe the gardens were playing tricks on her, but she thought she saw more eyes higher up in the tree before they disappeared again. Jack frowned and looked down at Ergo again, making sure he was still staying put. He was pretty obedient for a horse like creature though, and he was staying put even though he looked like he was going to bolt at any minute. Maybe she was just seeing things though, he never looked like that if he could help it. Jack shook her head and stared further up into the tree, climbing after the eyes to see if she could find what was up there. If she could just see what it was, then she would be happy, but she made it to the top of the tree without finding anything. A scowl hit her face as she looked around, then she was shocked at what she found.
Something had jumped to the next tree! She still couldn't see what it was, but she had a feeling she knew what it was. She scowled a little and then slowly started to climb down the tree, finding her footing as best as she could as she made her way. Jack went easy and slowly, but when she looked for the next limb to step on, it disappeared! There were no more limbs for her to climb down on! The woman swore a moment but then looked down at the ground, she really wasn't that high up, was she? But the moment she went to let go and fall, the tree shot up into the air. Jack was already letting go, however, and she yelped as she fell even further than she had planned on, landing directly on her back and hitting her head on a rock. Well, that wasn't planned, the halfbreed thought for a moment, sniffing at the unconscious woman a moment.
Jack's breathing was shallow and raspy and there was blood slowly oozing out of her head. The halfbreed couldn't cure her, of course, but he could at least lay down next to her and protect her. He would scramble the brains of anything that tried to come near her, though he obviously didn't realize she wanted to find a Catterfly and take it home with her. She wasn't one to talk through her plans to one of her animals unless they had a Ribbon or something along those lines, it just didn't make sense, of course they weren't going to understand her if she explained it to them. Ergo sniffed at her again and looked at her with an ounce of concern in his pale eyes before they went dead again and he looked around to see what he could find. Nothing was going to scare him now, and he was rooted in place due to the command the woman had given her before she had climbed that dastardly tree.
While he hadn't been taught to lick his own wounds to heal himself a little, something came naturally to him and his tongue came out of his vertical mouth and lapped up some of the blood coming from the woman's head. She groaned a little, but that was it, and Ergo looked at her with a little worry in his pale eyes, he wondered if she was alright, and why he worried about her at all. It wasn't like she was all that special, there wasn't anything special about the way she looked, she was rather plain when he thought about it, but there was something about her that made him want to help her, he just didn't know what it was at the moment. That was okay though, he figured as he lapped up some more blood from her now sticky, reddish hair, he would care about her a little bit and nothing bad would come of that, he was sure of it.
Just when was she going to wake up anyway? At least she had made a sound, that was a good sign he figured with a tilted expression on his face. Oh well, if she didn't wake up at least they wouldn't have to go anywhere else today. Then again, he would have to stay in this spot indefinitely if she didn't wake up. Maybe that was the better option, getting her to wake up, and he leaned down and licked at the broken part of her head again. While he didn't see anything too alarming coming out of her head, he didn't really know what to look for either. That was alright, nothing was going to come of it and she would wake up soon, he knew it. She was a strong woman, and he admired her for that at least. Hopefully she would wake up, that was the only way he could move.
Something was going on in Jack's mind, but she didn't understand what it was. She was lost in the darkness and she couldn't find the light. It scared her a little, and she ran as fast as she could in a single direction hoping that she would find the light again. Something was going on, she just didn't know what it was. There was a dull ache in her head, and she put her hand to it, pulling it back to find sticky blood on her hand. The halfbreed didn't know what to do, she was still asleep, licking her didn't seem to work, and so he finally nudged her a little with his muzzle. Jack still couldn't see the light, there was nothing but darkness and an empty void. She wasn't sure what she needed to do, but that was okay, she knew Ergo was with her wherever she was, and that's all she needed.
How was she supposed to find the light if Ergo wasn't helping her, however? Jack didn't know what to do but look for light, and so she slowed down to a walk and took a deep breath, wondering what she should do at the moment. It was a scary place, the darkness, but what could she really do? A faint feeling came to her head, it was wet, but that's all she knew about it at the moment. Ergo licked at her head again as she laid there, unconscious, wondering what was going to happen to him if she didn't wake up. For once his dull, pale blue eyes were focused on the woman and what she was doing, and they weren't even training right now. There was real concern for her in his expression, and he hoped that she would understand what he was trying to do when she woke back up, if she woke back up.
There! There was a spark, but it died down as suddenly as it came up. Ergo tilted his head when she shifted next to him a little. What had he done to make her do that? Was she waking up finally? He stared at her and then licked at her head again, bobbing his head when she groaned a little and moved her arm. Jack saw another spark and ran to where she had seen it, reaching out with both hands to grab onto it if she could, but her hands passed right through it and stayed in the darkness. The spark grew bigger and bigger, however, and while she couldn't touch it, she could at least walk through it somehow. Maybe it was part of the magic of the Mansion or something, she didn't know, but she walked through the door of light and opened her eyes again, staring straight into the face of Ergo.
It was a good thing that she had found her way out of that difficult situation; because there was more loot to be had! Somewhere behind Ergo was another little lantern; this one bright pink and particularly pale-sunny. It glowed a soft pink that somehow still felt foreboding; the mansion really was a strange magical place! Beneath this lantern is a small ledge; and beside it on the ledge laid a single egg; specifically designed to spin in a circle instead of in wide arcs so as not to fall off of the taller ledge. It was pale and milky cream; with little dark spots. Perhaps this was a peace-offering by the mansion? Who knows. If the egg was a peace-offering, than this was a curse; right above Jack's head pops a little stormy cloud; raining broodily above her head. It did not seem to want to leave her side... But at least it was cute?
Jack slowly moved her arm and rubbed her head, eyes widening when it came back with blood on it. She winced a little and touched her skull lightly, trying to find the place where it was hurt. It was in the back, and she lifted her head up a little to see if she could find out exactly where it was. Another wince came when she found the tender spot on the back of her head that was bleeding rather profusely. Oh wow, what would Renathan say if he knew what had happened? She was usually so well balanced, it surprised her no matter what. Oh well, at least it was done and over with, and she knew better than to climb a tree outside the Mansion again she figured with a sigh. Ergo was staring at her for a little bit, not knowing what he should be doing at the moment, but figuring he might as well do something.
There was nothing she could do about the injury now except to tend to it and figure out if she was seriously injured or not. At least she had some training in that kind of thing, and she grabbed her bag next to the halfbreed who was staring at her, trying to figure out what he should do for her, and pulled it over to herself. Jack winced again, her sight darkening around the edges for a moment or two before she lightly shook her head and then blinked a few times to get it back to normal. It wouldn't surprise her to find out she had a concussion. Giving herself a moment or two to sort things out, she finally started searching through her bag and found some salve and bandages. She wasn't sure what she was going to do if Renathan found out she had fallen, but she would figure it out as she went.
Twilight-Claw: Thanks Silver! I will be putting that info somewhere so I don't forget. <3

Twilight-Claw: That definitely helps a lot in knowing that now about the shop!
Mar 18, 2023 1:09:33 GMT -6
Silver: and yes most of the time you do not need a back and forth unless you are trading, bartering, or you leave your post open ended and staff takes that as a hint you want a reply
Mar 17, 2023 17:33:16 GMT -6
Silver: The Curious Collection's shop is not part of the 'one shop at a time' rule so that solves that!
Mar 17, 2023 17:32:49 GMT -6
Twilight-Claw: I'm just not so sure about if that is possible. Though like I said before, I made the Trod post in the hunter's lodge easy enough that it likely only needs the shopkeepers own reply, and no further input of my own. ^^;

Riku: I thought we could just skip the npc reply in shops nowadays as long as we wrote out an appropriate encounter/exchange and made a note that we didn’t want it to be a back and forth rp…?

Twilight-Claw: to the curious collection shop tomorrow with them.
Mar 17, 2023 7:28:51 GMT -6
Twilight-Claw: Does anyone know if it is possible to have my Trod appear in a different shop as well after two weeks? Currently mine is still in the hunter's lodge, but without npc reply. I am assuming that one will only need 1 reply, and I am really hoping to go

*
Skylos: but you'll need a second one to grow them back to the proper stage.
Mar 6, 2023 8:29:57 GMT -6
Skylos: Far as I know, you can go from old to baby
Mar 6, 2023 8:29:43 GMT -6
Twilight-Claw: can be done?
Mar 6, 2023 6:14:33 GMT -6
Twilight-Claw: With Antigrowths was it that you can go from old to even baby stage, or till juvenile? I think in the past it was only two stages from the current one, but I don't see any mention of it in the potion description now, so maybe it is now in any stage it
