Frost was a kind of thin ice glaze that was caused when small layers of dew tried to turn into ice cubes, basically. That was how Renathan had understood it then, of course, in his native tongue. However; apparently sometimes small amounts of water, like rain, tried to turn into ice cubes too, and of course they basically turned into a kind of 'fluffy' frost that fell out of the sky. Apparently, it was white. That was how Renathan had understood it of course, but he'd never seen it, of course. He couldn't really imagine it well, but he tried. All he could see was teeny tiny cottonballs falling out of the sky whenever he tried to visualize it, and he found himself frustrated. He knew what cold looked like, thanks to Auburn; was it anything like the ice-cube mist she produced sometimes, when angry? Renathan had woken one morning to feed his critters; to see snow.

It turned out that snow did indeed look like the stuff beneath Auburn's wings, but he was still surprised at it. Renathan had stared at it for a long time before finally getting the courage to step in it. He wasn't sure what he was expecting, it was cold and wet, very fluffy, a little packed. It laid in a shimmery white sheet across the ground, until he stepped in it and messed it up. Renathan had seen it a few times after that. He thought about what his garden would look like, in the winter. Beneath a blanket of snow, would it be more beautiful? Snow was haunting. For now though, it was summer, and surprisingly hot outside. Renathan would need to go sit in the gazebo for a little bit and drink some water to cool down. He'd almost forgotten what he had been doing before remembering the snow from last winter.

Renathan hadn't been sure when he was going to have time to work in the garden again; but knowing that his leaf-scatter should be producing at the moment made him make time for it, regardless of everything else. He had been waiting for this season to see if his own leaf scatter was going to produce, even though he hadn't been around her very much. Her name was Meipuru, and now all Renathan had to do was actually, well, hopefully find her! She was almost always running around the garden and sniffing about, waggling her tail. Renathan was hoping that today, she would be either that, or napping in a sunbeam. He wasn't sure if she was gonna let him get close enough to try to get her berry, even if she was going to produce this season. Hopefully, if he was lucky, she would! Renathan let himself in the gate, and what luck; he could see her! [1] - [Renathan is using Sever Bond] - [With Leaf Scatter]

Renathan had been having a pretty terrible month so far; and he really just hoped that he would be able to manage to get this berry from her this season. He knew from his own studies that with luck they would have two months (this one and the next) to try to get her to produce, but he really wanted to not have to bother with it next month. This place wasn't his only requirement for what he needed to do, either. It was a huge mess, an absolutely huge mess. However, he could already see the Leaf Scatter, so that difficult was done. A few months ago, Faebuck had refused to produce for him, and that was just sad. A real mess, he thought. Renathan closes the gate behind him, and then moves to go look closer at the leaf scatter. He needed to know if she was ready to produce or not.

Renathan finally made his way closer to her, but the way that the leafscatter was laying in the grass, soaking up the sun, made it to where he couldn't adequately see her tail. Darn; that was where they produced the berry, after all. Renathan slitted his eyes behind the mask, trying to see further, but of course, he'd either have to get closer to her or circle around. Renathan knew that she could probably hear him even if he just decided to circle around, not even considering moving closer! Ugh, this was going to be annoying, Renathan thought. If he woke her up, she may try to run! Not wanting to really risk it, Renathan circled around, since that was the better choice, trying to get a better idea as to how far she was along with her berry. The most frustrating thing was that; Renathan couldn't even see it yet and had no idea if this was a waste of time.

Renathan had been very disappointed that his dragon oak had not allowed him to pick the magical acorn that she had produced. It was awful, since the thing definitely got shed off later and went to waste; they went to waste too quickly to search for if not collected and preserved immediately. It frustrated Renathan certainly since he could have certainly used this in future meddlings with botany, or perhaps just for selling. But no, Faebuck had shed it and it was lost for good. Maybe next year, Renathan thought. However, he was convinced to manage to get Meipuru to produce, at the very least, regardless. He was not going to let a magical berry go to waste, since he really needed to use them for a variety of tasks. They were excellent for breedings, and Renathan was always ready to use them for breedings! They were especially helpful with lola, he knew

Renathan did want to eventually breed his lotine with a magical berry again, but he wasn't sure if he wanted to do it right away. He was really nervous about what the resulting lola would look like, and he didn't want to waste a berry on an ugly lola since he would like to eventually replace Princess with a different lotine. He really wanted the resulting offspring lola to be hers though, and not a random other one. Renathan stared over at the Leaf Scatter as he carefully circled around. After checking for the berry, Renathan hoped to get some weeding and some fertilizing done for the garden, since it was looking a little funky at the moment, but he didn't want to miss a berry that she may or may not have. It would be a shame if that was wasted this year, as well. Renathan kept circling, trying to get closer to that tail...

Renathan was not going to be out for very long today, but he was wanting to go out to check on the dragonoak. The mammalian had heard that someone's dragonoak had gotten out around here recently, and even though Renathan checked out here all the time, he hadn't had a lot of time to do a lot of gardening recently. The whole place was grown up, and it was very possible that a hole had opened up somewhere and that Faebuck had found her way out somewhere. Renathan spent a good long time wandering around the garden, feeling cold, and trying to figure out where Faebuck was. "Faeeee-buuuuuck!" Renathan called out. "FAEBUCK!" He said, again. His voice traveled well enough in the cold and crisp air. When was it going to be spring, anyway? Renathan much preferred the warmth to the cold.
Little did Renathan know, but Faebuck was merely napping -emphasis on the WAS- close by.

Faebuck raised up slightly, with the minimum amount of effort, and snuggled more closely into her warm spot, curling up tighter. She didn't really like the cold, and spent most of the cold months just trying to survive. She had a good warm hollow with a warmth rock that Renathan had put in for her, but she didn't really have any way to regulate her temperature on it, since the sun wasn't out often. So she spent her entire day getting on the warmth rock, and then getting off the warmth rock and sitting somewhere cooler, and then moving back into the warm spot again in an attempt to regulate her temperature. It wasn't something that a non-dragonoak would understand, she was sure, or she would be if she really thought that deeply.
Either way, she was not inclined to answer to Renathan's calls for any reason really at all. She simply watched him with lazy eyes.

Renathan called for Faebuck a few more times, getting more and more worried as time went on. Where could she be? Renathan let a little bit of panick run through him as he searched. She wasn't the dragonoak that was running around outside causing trouble, was she? Renathan was absolutely mortified that it could be the case, since he thought of himself as a good garden keeper and a good pet owner... Had he really been doing the job he meant to be doing during this time? The winter always made him a shut-in. He hadn't really been able to go out and do as much since it was so cold (which his short little furs didn't really help much with) and Renathan also had a job this year so it was even worse. "FAEBUCK!" He called again, moving around in a circle again.
Faebuck watched him, and stood up carefully, still crouched partially in the grass.

Renathan, of course, did not see Faebuck, and squinted his pink eyes as he looked out into the grass, wishing and hoping that she was here. When he finally decided that she would have come already if she had been here (not that she knew how to come to command, it was more that she typically came to check whenever loud things happened to occur; like his voice) he turned to start walking along the fence and gates, to check to see if there was a hole in it anywhere. If Faebuck had gotten out, then couldn't the other creatures around here actually get out as well? Hardly anything here was as big as Faebuck! Renathan did not know that Faebuck was slowly following him as he walked around, checking for holes in the fence and calling her name every once in a while. However, she did not make herself known.

It wasn't that Faebuck was trying to be deceptive at all, it was literally that she was trying to figure out what Renathan was doing to make all that racket for no reason and annoy her, disturbing her garden and territory. Renathan didn't think to check directly behind him, since it was nonsensical to do so. He was very sure that she had escaped somehow, and it was taking him a goodly amount of time to circumnavigate the gated fence that he had set up specifically because he was pulling weeds out along the way. How did a winter garden get weedy anyway? The mammalian frowns beneath his mask as he continues on hollaring for Faebuck and then pulling weeds along the way. But there appears to be no weeds anywhere near here? Behind him, the Dragonoak lumbers, wagging her tail to one side and then the other as she walked slowly.

You might have had some trouble finding your dragonoak, but these goodies weren't too hard to find!
