Renathan wondered what the acorns could be used for, as he quietly crept up to the area where the dragonoak had seemed to have chosen as it's area. It was an absolutely huge hollowed out stump that was slowly being overgrown by red mushrooms with white spots. It was an absolutely faerie-land looking place, and just shimmered with an otherworldly beauty, being completely casted over with shade from the surrounding fruit trees. Renathan figured like it was a good place for a plant dragon to make their home, anyway. Renathan had already set up a nice metal bench to sit on while he looked out over the area, so that he could watch the dragonoak from a safe place. The creature looked up at him from across the way, as if testing him to come any closer. He knew that he was going to have to bridge the gap with Faebuck eventually, anyway.

Renathan told himself, looking at the creature as she had smoke coming out from around her maw, that it might as well be now that he began pushing his luck. How was he supposed to look for and then procure her acorn if he didn't get up close to her? She was quite aggressive right now, anyway, but she wouldn't always be that way. Renathan worked with his creatures well enough whenever he was dealing with aggressive creatures to slowly work them down from being aggressive. Renathan would just have to do this with this creature as well! The russet mammalian moved forward slowly but with strength, not quite looking at the creature but also not quite looking away. He didn't want to appear aggressive, but he didn't want to appear weak either. Either way could be quite a bit dangerous to him if he wasn't as careful as he needed to be, anyway.

Renathan finally seemed to cross an unspoken boundry between them, because Faebuck flared out her leaf-wings and then lowered her head and absolutely growled, rumbling, letting embers fly from her mouth. Huh, that was a bit scary now that he had seen it; he was not frightened, he'd seen worse after all, but the creature was a plant. Weren't plants normally weak to flames? He hoped that making her do this would not cause her to hurt herself or anything. He really needed more information about this idea anyway, when it came to dragonoaks because he actually hadn't found any information about them at all! Renathan normally found pamphlets from the labs about labs style creatures... Were these not labs made creatures? Were they natural? Renathan surely didn't think so, but he wasn't too sure, since there wasn't much information about this strange creatures. Renathan kept walking forward though, slowly but surely.

As Renathan kept walking forward, the dragonoak kept walking backward, this time backing up instead of coming at him with more aggression. He wondered vaguely if this was the creature finally giving up and slowly getting used to him; but he soon found out that he was quite wrong. The creature rushed forward at him hissing, and it's teeth were absolutely glowing with flames. Wait, this creatures had teeth? Renathan was about to reflexively use his magic when he stopped himself and instead dodged out of the way. He refused to fight the creature, and instead popped back up and raised his arms, trying to look bigger and scarier to stop her from attacking him again. The creature bent it's head low and growled at him, making an almost draconic noise as it did. Renathan felt strength in his heart as he stared it down, straight in the eyes. The creature's teeth glowed hotly.

The dragon oak was being a mess, and not allowed him to even check for an acorn or two, so Renathan just sighed, and began backing away. He was going to stay in her territory no matter what, because he wanted to be able to collect the acorn if it indeed fell off at some point. Renathan shook his head as he slowly backed off. The fruit trees around the area were really putting off fruit already anyway, and he needed to collect those of course, and also he needed to spread the fertilizer around. Then he needed to check the area to make sure that nothing was destroyed. The fact that the dragonoak was fire oriented was worrying; it could really hurt some of the other plants and really hurt the surroundings, and that was not good. Faebuck stayed at a fixed distance from him, growling, her eyes darting back and forth.

Renathan slowly backed away, and nearly bumped into a sarane-fruit tree. It had two sarane fruit in it; one green and pink, and the other blue and mustard. Renathan kept an eye on the dragon oak, positively staring it down while he reached up and carefully began to pluck the green and pink sarane fruit to put it in his backpack. As the sarane fruit was plucked, the dragon oak hissed and snapped at him, still aggravated from the perceived attack earlier; and Renathan realized that he really had no idea how to deal with plants, let alone plant dragons, because they were different than both dragons and plants, even though he had experience with both of them. It was a bit scary, actually. Renathan reached up carefully and finished removing the green and pink sarane fruit and then put the scaley fruit into his backpack, keeping his eyes on the sarane at the same time.

Renathan reached up towards the other sarane fruit he'd been keeping his eye out on, and he heard another snap and a felt a bit of a rush. Renathan turned around and moved over toward the tree to get away from the creature that tried to rush him. He spun around to face her, hand still on the blue and gold sarane fruit. Well, this was going to suck. This creature really did not want him here, and Renathan wasn't sure why she hated him so much today. Perhaps they were just a bit moody when they had their acorn in shed? Renathan was amazed by the idea of this, but more so that he hadn't thought of it before as opposed to actually having been the case, at least for Faebuck anyway. Renathan watched as she bent low and growled again, snapping and threatening. Renathan was absolutely refusing to leave the area.

Renathan knew that he probably didn't need to attempt to pester this creature much longer, but he also knew that if he let her 'run him off' of her territory here, that he may just make her do that each time, and that was certainly not desirable in a creature. Renathan did not want to give positive reinforcement to these negative movements, everything when it came to creatures were also quite a bit of a difficult thing because of the idea of everything. Renathan was quiet as he slowly began to pluck this blue and gold sarane fruit so that he could put it in his backpack too. they had tough exteriors that were more fruit-like than scale-like, but they did indeed look quite a bit like scales. Renathan was a bit shocked for a moment as the creature made a false-lunge at him, and he carefully plucked the sarane fruit gently.

Renathan quickly pushed the sarane fruit into the backpack, and then moved quickly out of dodge, backing away a little bit in a semi-circle in the clearing, to keep a certain amount of distance away from the creature. If those sarane fruits were around in the area, then there were probably other different things for him to get from the garden in this area! He hadn't exactly been checking the area quite as often due to the dragonoak being a bit... Ah, prickly, indeed. Renathan wondered perhaps if this would be the same way whenever he started working with the other creatures he hadn't worked with yet that were quite venomous... That was going to be quite tough! For now though, he needed to work with Faebuck, at the very least. Renathan was quiet for a moment, hardly taking his eyes of the dragonoak for long enough to check for any other things to gather in the area.

The next thing that Renathan was able to notice while playing keep away from the creature was a clump of purple grass; he knew that those had a nice scent and could probably be traded, so he needed to get over there. Luckily it was in the opposite direction that the dragon oak was at, so he could back up to it without too much of an issue or anything. Renathan was quiet as he backed up, keeping his eyes on the dragonoak for the most way because he knew where he was going. Soon he was able to back up to where the purple grass was; was it lavender? And then he reached down, ever so slowly, hoping the creature would not try to jump on him as he was bending down to pick it up. Not long afterward, he gently picked up as much of the lavender as he could, and then he stood up quite quickly!

The dragonoak seemed to be putting on more of a show now instead of actually attacking him, and was instead watching him with barely an emberous flicker between her jaws. That was good, at least. Renathan was quiet as he put the sprig of lavender into his backpack. Now he was going to have to look for other things, at least! Renathan backed up a bit again, hardly taking his eyes off of the dragonoak as he did so, and he managed to see a tangle of beanpods not too far away. There were several there, ripe for the taking he was sure, and they would also make good trade fodder! Renathan began to back up to them too, careful not to step on his tails as he did so, and then he kept his eyes on the dragonoak that seemed to slowly be getting less and less aggressive toward him at the very least.

Now that he was much closer to them, Renathan could see that there were at least three bean pods for him to get. Two were purple, and one was an odd muddy green? Some of these didn't look appetizing to him in the very least, but he was sure that they had some kind of a use, right? Renathan wondered vaguely if they were edible or anything. Renathan bent down to try to pick these as well, pricking his hand pads with a few thorns in process, since they were intertwined with his blackberry bushes that ringed the area quite well. Renathan watched the dragon oak to make sure that he wasn't about to be attacked while he picked them, but it would be a bit hard to defend himself while he was bent down with his hand clearly in a thorn tangle. The dragon oak continued to keep her distance instead; and slowly stopped her bristling.

Renathan was able to pull one of the bean pods off of the stalk, and he moved it quietly in front of his face so that he could watch the dragon oak and also to see the color of the bean pod he had managed to grab. The one he had right now was quite purple. Ah, so he grabbed one of the purple ones! Renathan placed the bean pod in his backpack, happy with his amount so far but knowing that he would need a whole lot more before actually making his trip to the trading center or whatever it was actually called. He knew that he could manage to get enough for healing berries if he just kept working, and the dragon oak would let him instead of continuing to fight him, anyway. Renathan was quiet for a moment as he reached in to the tangle again to try to pick out one of the remaining bean pods.
