The mammalian managed to prick his arms while trying to get another of the beanpods out, cussing a bit under his breath as he did so, while he struggled to keep his eyes and attention mostly on the dragon oak, since Faebuck could be more dangerous to him than these little pinpricks, since blackberries were not poisonous to him, at least. Renathan was finally, with a bit of work and finagling, managed to get the next bean pod picked and out of the thing. He brought it, like the last one, up to his eyes so that he could watch the dragon oak which much be quite dangerous to him, and so that he could safely watch the colors of the thing. Renathan could see that this was the dark green bean pod. It looked gross! He managed to put it in the backpack and get his arm back in the tangle to get the last of the purple bean pods.

Renathan knew that the chances of the dragon oak actually hurting him were pretty slim. Most labs creatures were actually taking to people a lot easier than most would ever consider, and that made them a bit easier to deal with than most wild creatures would otherwise be. Almost like a dog vs a wolf in some cases, anyway. Even though some creatures did not 'like people' as much as the others, like estharne, he had no idea what to think about some of these other creatures that were not actually public-knowledge about. There wasn't really a whole lot of information out there about dragon-oaks either, and that made it hard to really get an idea about how aggressive they were. Renathan sure hoped that none of the other creatures would be like this, at least not the venomous ones, when it came time to try to get them to drop their berries/acorns or anything else!

There was still so much gardening to be done in a little amount of time, so Renathan plucks the bit of purple bean pod and quickly puts it into the backpack, not sparing another glance at it. The reason for this was of course so that he could begin looking for another set of things to harvest. He really needed as much stuff as possible, after all. Those berries were worth quite a bit to him, and probably would to anyone looking for a magical node, which would be pretty good for him! He wanted to get as many as possible because of that. Renathan quietly, put both of his hands up, trying to signal to the creature that he was not at all trying to be aggressive but not willing to back down either, so that was the idea anyway. Renathan was quiet as he began to glance around, each moment looking back to the dragon oak between them.

The nearest thing to Renathan that he could see that seemed to be producing some kind of thing for him to discover was a group of rather ugly bell flowers. These were in no way in their prime, and were instead beginning to die, it looked. That was really sad, Renathan thought, there would have been so many to grab that could be used to trade. He wanted to do as well as he could, and he wasn't sure if it was something he was going to be able to actually use these, but he was going to go over there anyway, dragon oak of course allowing him he hoped, and try to grab as many of them as he possibly could. Renathan moved over that way quietly, walking backwards in the practiced way that he had began to do, and watched the dragon oak for imminent attack the entire way.

Renathan hoped that the dragon-oak would eventually be able to be fine with him being around. Already the creature was simply following and watching him aggressively, instead of actually chasing him with a fiery mouth and all. Renathan wondered why they even had mouths, since the pachee did not, be he was quite fine with the fact that they did. Would they be fun or interesting to train? He was figuring that it was going to be interesting if he did, did anyone even train plant creatures at all, or did they just kind of play with them while they visited there gardens? There weren't really many gardens around here anyway. Renathan had been checking around before he made his own garden, and most of them seemed a little empty. Renathan was sure that he knew why that was, at least. There weren't a whole lot of people bustling around in general, anymore. It was a bit better recently though?

Renathan finally backed his way on up to the bell flowers, and glanced over them sadly. One of them was completely dead; an ugly brown, while two more are blue and green, which Renathan thought was a bit odd because most of the time flowers were brightly colored to attract pollinators and not the same color as the rest of them, though he guessed that it wasn't unheard of completely. Renathan was really hoping that he would have a good crop today, and these counted, he figured, even if he didn't personally think they were very pretty. Renathan reached out while looking mostly at the dragon oak, though not as closely this time around he guessed, and then he grabbed out and plucked the brown, blue, and green bellflowers that were in the clearing. There were so many! He was so glad about that, at least. These would be great for trading, if nothing else.

Cherries and potatoheads, you must be doing something right, it seems!

Renathan threw the bell flowers into his backpack, knowing that these could be used at some other point for trading, and then continued his work. The dragon oak was slowly beginning to loosen up around him, and Renathan hoped that in the future he might be able to check to see if the creature actually had an acorn this month for him to attempt to get. He wasn't able to tell for the moment, seeing as she was so close to wanting to attack him and was presumably keeping all of that sort of thing protected so that she could use it for what ever they use. Renathan had no idea what to think about that, but he was sure that it made sense and that he would probably also do that sort of thing if he was in the same area. Renathan grinned softly beneath the mask, feeling like he might have understood that a bit better.

Even if the creature was just trying to keep the acorn safe, Renathan really did not want to cause any trouble with it, but still, those acorns were worth quite a bit and could probably be used for other things maybe? He sure hoped so, anyway. Renathan didn't know everything about the gardens, and definitely knew even less than the average gardener he figured about the dragon oaks... Maybe he should ask Jack at some point? He really didn't know if that was what he wanted to do, because he was a bit embarrassed about the fact that he didn't know much about this. What kind of a person got a creature without knowing anything about it and then tried to take care of it on the fly? No wonder the creature really did not like him very much. He didn't really blame it now that he thought about that kind of thing.

Renathan hadn't really been thinking about this entire thing until now, but now he felt like a bad owner. Perhaps he always had been. However, he couldn't just stop now! It was very important that Renathan do the best he could for his creature's sakes, after all. That was the most important thing to him. After that, perhaps because of his own past when it came to his homeland, he wanted to be of service to his community. He found it a bit lonely not to have a house full of a clan to live with, so he tried to help others the best he could. He had been throwing himself into helping others and taking care of his creatures in order to get rid of this sorrow, but it wasn't really helping all that much. He tried not to think about it too much. The culture was just too different altogether. Renathan was distracted by his thoughts for the moment, and the dragon oak did not attempt to push this.

Renathan shocked himself from his thoughts. He really needed to check around for something else to grab and take to the trader later on; but just what was he going to grab next, huh? He hadn't even really thought much about it, but he just realized then that the dragon oak didn't attack him. He stared out at the strange amber-eyed creature and slitted his eyes a bit. "Hey, you didn't attack me this time." He had no idea what mysterious aspect about the creatures eventually made them calm down around someone, but he had been told that they might just so happen to be made to be that way. He doubted that, to be honest. Everybody got used to the rest of the individuals if they were around them enough! He figured that it was the same way for creatures as it was for people in that respect perhaps. Renathan tended to think about that a lot.

Well, now that the dragon oak was not actively attempting to kill Renathan or drive him away, he was hoping that eventually he would get close enough to see if the creature had even produced an acorn, after all. Renathan wasn't going to push his luck yet, anyway. That was not a good idea, Renathan figured. He didn't want to go back to square one or anything because he was being an impatient brat and all. The russet mammalian eventually decided to look out around the area, a little less wary of the dragon oak finally now, for another set of things to pick up and trade. He was really cautious about the area, because he actually had no idea where his creepingwither was. Those things were venomous, you know! They also produced a toxic berry that was supposedly quite good for poisons, but Renathan had no idea whether he was skilled enough to make a poison yet or not...

Cherries, cherries, and more cherries! There has to be a tree nearby!

Renathan knew that it was going to take a long while to eventually get to this point, to the point to where he was ready to go to the traders' and to get to the point to where the dragon oak would give up it's acorn. Renathan was really hoping that he would be able to get that all fixed up and all, but he may not be able to manage to get the dragon oak's acorn this month. The chances seemed to be getting a bit less and less as time went on, now. They were, after all, going to start running out of time this month anyway. The russet mammalian could see what appeared to be a very, very nice cherry tree close by. Most of the cherries were of the light variety; and that was pretty dang cool! He hoped that it would be the case that he was going to manage to pick all of them that he could!
