Almost... Almost... Ridelys carefully removed her fingers from the hammer. She was ready to apply the tape. But as soon as the tape touched the balanced handle, it fell off, clattering to the table. Another attempt of a failure. A pair of borrowed grips held the mallet's head steady and firm, but the problem remained attempting to fix the handle. Tape didn't work, or her fingers were too clumsy with the initial application of adhesive. Glue hadn't worked either, a gloppy mess that got bumped into while drying and left the handle on the ground, and glue bleeding out on the table. Not a fun thing to clean up.
Out of patience, and running low on options of what kind of stickums she could use to attempt to fix the mallet for usage again, Ridelys finally relented and paid the Underground a visit. The mallet pieces in a little pouch on her hip, and as many pieces of the handle as she was able to find.
"Free tool repair. Bad luck or just bad skills? We can repair your tools at The Underground." She read off the paper ad morosely. So much for attempting to fix it herself. The ad had been posted on the bulletin board in the kennel's lobby. As she turned to leave, a voice stopped her. A humanish coming into the lobby, dragging a dolly with a cage on it. Two hematite wyrms were coiled around each other inside. They asked her if she could do the run for harvesting the wyrms for gems. She agreed, as there was a bit of the gems in it for her. She'd never worked with hematite before. What color.
Carefully holding the door open with one side, Ridelys entered, wheeling the dolly in alongside her. Thankfully the cage was pretty small, and the wyrms weren't rattling around.
