It had been awhile since she had been here, far too long in fact. But she had the items and it was time. Jack ascended the stairs confidently, but slowly, savoring every moment of this as she could. She had made earth, wind, water, and now fire. She would have control over a little bit of what Renathan had control over, and it made her happy. Maybe they could compare notes at some point, but she wasn't sure. Jack watched the panels on either side of her, the carvings full of blood and sacrifice showing her everything she needed to know. Ascend the stairs, put down her items, eat the berry (the most important part), cut her arm, put blood on the crystals, kneel and wait. It was easy enough, but one missed step was enough to warrant death. She didn't know what she would do if she died again, but that was fine, she wouldn't this time, this time, she was prepared.

At the stop of the steps was the altar, and she gingerly took all seven crystals out of her pouch, six fire crystals and one spherical mind crystal. They were all perfect, though a few bits of rock and dirt still clung to the fire crystals. That was alright though, the gods and spirits were kind enough to still take them when she sacrificed her soul and blood. Everything was going to be fine, she could do this. Carefully, one at a time, she placed the items on top of the altar and then looked into her pouch once more. The items were amazing, the mind crystal in the center and the fire crystals laying beside it, three on each side. It only made sense she supposed, and she hoped that things would turn well for her no matter what. Magic had a high price, but it was one she was incredibly willing to pay if it meant getting closer to what her mother had been.

If only she knew how difficult it was for her soul to regenerate. She had some idea, that's why she could only do this once a year, but other than that... Jack smiled a little and took one more item out of her pouch, staring at the small cluster of berries in the palm of her hand. Harvested from her King of the Evergreen, she knew it was a little old at this point, but it would still work no matter what. Nothing said they had to be fresh, and she made sure to store all of her produce from the gardens safely so she could hold them indefinitely. Jack pushed her hair back and then popped the berries into her mouth, chewing and savoring the sweet taste. It was the only time she managed to eat one, when she tried to make nodes, and she tried to remember the taste as best as she could each time.

Before the speakers, she took the dagger from the altar and took a deep breath. This part was bad, but the soul sucking was worse, the bits she remembered of it at least. This wasn't horrible, but still not ideal. Jack took the dagger and drew a line down her forearm, just enough for blood to drip but not drain. She held her arm out over the ingredients and exhaled, letting the blood drip on one, two, three fire crystals, then the mind crystal, then four, five, six fire crystals. It was a strange feeling, but she didn't know what else to do. A smile crossed her face for a bit and she shook her head before she wrapped up her arm a little bit with a piece of cloth she had with her. Nothing was going to stand in the way of her and her magic, she loved her nodes, and she would take great care of them.

Kneel.
She had to remember.
Jack knelt down on the ground in front of the altar and bowed her head, ready for her own personal sacrifice to the gods. It was a beautiful moment, she knew, and she hoped that things would work out when it was all said and done. Jack could still feel the juices from the berry in her throat, though it was threatening to come up like it always threatened at this point. There was nothing common about what she was doing, about what she had done three times before this. But that's what made her, her. It was fantastic and she was ready to be like her mother in any way she could, if that meant a node, then she would make nodes. It didn't matter how alike or different it was, as long as it was magic, and she was willing to risk her life for it.
Had risked her life for it...
