1 // 57.95 Amethyst, Oak Regrown Adults “Put down that cucumber!” Riku cried out to his colorful Malii as it froze to the sound of his tone. Busted... Goodness, these regrown Malii sure have a weird thing about eating. They’re always hungry! “You don’t even like cucumber!” He laughed, kneeling down to see the damage. Teeth marks....Hm. It was the worms. Totally. “Hope she doesn’t charge me for that....” he said as he pushed his Gem away. Amethyst was still stiffing at the cucumber. She didn’t know what it was, but it tasted better than dirt - she had tried the dirt. It was awful! Why did they have such gross dirt around, anyway? She sure was hungry, though... ‘Squish’ She knew that sound! Someone was eating - oh no! Without her!? She scurried off in its direction. The other Malii had finally cornered one of the odd glowing worms. Well...it was midday, but he assumed they glowed. Things usually taste better when they glow - and boy did these taste great! Or at least....better than the onion he devoured while the human was dealing with the cucumber fiasco. Oak licked the rest of the purply green guts off the giant leaf he had smashed it on. He made sure to get every bit off his ‘beard’ as well. Oh no, here comes the other one. Did she notice?

2 // 58.00
Amethyst sniffed at the newly multicolored gooey leaf and snorted a bit at the smell...but then licked it anyway. Oak growled at her.
“Hey now,” Riku said “play nice, you two.” He said as he tried to step between the two Malii. The Woodland was rather offended that the human had let the other take his prize, but quickly forgot about it once he saw another work scurry away from the corner of his eye. He went off chasing it, hopping with excitement.
The Gem Malii saw one, as well, and it wasn’t too far, either! All she had to do was chomp to the right and it was in her mouth. Mmmm....Delicious!
Riku cringed at the sight; the thought of eating a bug grossed him out. Why couldn’t they just stomp on them or use their horn? Then again...they are rather particular about the treatment and cleanliness of their horns, so they wouldn’t use that.
“Oh! There’s one now! It’s crawling over my foot!” He squealed as he kicked the air to get it off and the ran over and stomped on it. “Ugh! They’re so big! What even are these!?”
....it wasn’t that big. He was just a coward.

The bugs had to be originating from somewhere, maybe fine a nest at some point to figure out how to get them better?

3 // 58.05 Riku looked around and there were at least four more Caterpillars near him. These had to be coming from somewhere...! He followed the direction opposite of where one was going and found another two coming from the same area. Aha! There was a strange cocoon-web-textured structure on the ground with an opening in the center. He watched as another of the bugs crawled out. They must have built a nest underground. Amethyst and Oak were both bouncing around squashing the bugs like little children jumping on fallen leaves in Autumn. They had filled their bellies and were no longer trying to eat the tiny creatures.....although, they would probably vomit later. Riku wasn’t really sure about the edible quality of the caterpillars... “Hey, guys, come over here...!” He called so they could help him figure out what to do with the nest he hd found. They didn’t listen. ‘They’re still too unfamiliar with me....’ he thought to himself. “Amethyst. Oak. Come here...! I found something.” The one brighter colored Malii looked up at him briefly, but continued playing with the bug corpses she had already killed. The other didn’t even notice. Riku sighed and raised his voice enough to make it seem significant, and called again.

4 // 58.10 Amethyst was fond of him enough. She recognized that he was he one who brought their food each day and changed heir water. However, she was usually still asleep that early, so she didn’t greet him when he did it. The home she had with him was much nicer than the one she had before at the labs, but she didn’t really consider that his doing. She wasn’t that clever. Mostly, she was an affectionate and care-free gal who appreciated any company she got - so long as they respected her boundaries...which so far he did. Oak, on the other hand, was just as cautious as he was care-free - be it a contradiction or not. When his initial careful nature had been attended he was just as silly and hyper as his counterpart he shared a room with at the Sanctuary. He also recognized Riku as the caretaker, but had never spent time with the boy or even been touched by him before...other than the day he took them home from the labs. That was a special day for Oak at first....but soon grew into a dull memory of false hope. Malii were enough for him. He didn’t need a human - though he wouldn’t resist having one around.

5 // 58.15 “Amethyst. Oak. Come.” He ordered, pointing down to his side and making eye contact with them. This time they knew he was gesturing for them and they obeyed. The two Malii had lived in Riku’s Malii Sanctuary for a few years and were very happy creatures - but they had never had time alone with the boy before. They didn’t quite mind, or even notice, but it did affect the way the reacted to him. Oak made uncomfortable and intermittent eye-contact with the human, unsure if he had upset him. Amethyst was more curious and sniffed at the nest. “Do you see this?” Riku gently asked them in a softer tone to ensure they were still playing and that he wasn’t upset. He didn’t like using his authoritarian voice. The two Malii began bwarking at the nest, and Riku kicked it, causing them both the jump back quickly. Half a dozen caterpillars started swarming out of it, and the Malii began attacking. Riku jumped in and squashed a few with his foot, squeamish a bit. Amethyst began to dig at the side of the nest as the other Malii and Human took on the two dozen or so caterpillars that came out of it. After a few adventurous minutes, the nest was in pieces and burried while also unearthed as well. The crew were covered in multicolored guts, and only a few bug-legs were twitching still. Riku shuddered. How did they move like that when their heads were crushed? Disgusting.
