This place is just creepy. The blond human was not used to this sort of thing, and in fact, hardly believed in it up until about a week ago, when they managed to finish reading a book about magic. The acquisition of the items had not been completely difficult; there were many people that only needed to be plied with credits and other such things in order to go out on commission and find these crystals. Morgan couldn't sense them, like other individuals, but they were able to understand it well enough. Morgan had all of the items, three crystals, mind crystal, and the berries in their lab-coat pockets. The berries in a plastic baggie in the opposite one, to keep them from getting mushed. The healing berries had been, surprisingly, a gift. Morgan hadn't known how to take that; and hadn't originally known for sure that they would be absolutely required. For one, Morgan didn't even know if they believed in a soul. However, the berries were supposed to help with healing; and according to what they had been told, they were supposed to cut themselves in order to do this. Morgan began to walk up the stairs, foot step by foot step. It felt a bit strange, but it wasn't fear. Just... Apprehension. Others seemed to believe that this would work, that it had worked for them, so Morgan couldn't just take it as hearsay, after all.

The steps were quite precarious in certain spots, and Morgan found themselves actually having to move carefully as they went up them; usually Morgan was a very delicate mover, and didn't have any issues tripping over their own feet. However, a few of the step pieces were crumbly at best. The blond tried to avoid those bits by taking two steps at a time if they could, and only when they could. Most of the steps were spaced out too far to do this. After carefully picking their way up the stairs, the human finally found themselves at the top. The area was a lot higher up feeling than it actually looked, and the bespectacled human (still in the outdated prescription glasses) couldn't help but look out over the area for just a second before turning back toward the area. Things were a little fuzzy, but not too bad. At the top, there was an altar. Morgan had been expecting it, but hadn't really been expecting how dirty it looked. The human didn't recoil, however, and instead took a big breath to steel themselves. The more time that went on, the more odd they felt.

Well, this is it. The human thought for only a moment before taking out the mind crystal; an oval one, and placed it down on the altar. Soon, with another grab, all three crystals were placed around it, one on one side, one on the other side, and one just below it, all on the altar. The two prismatic crystals were the two on the sides, and the chaos one was just below. The idea had been to make a chaos crystal... Morgan had chosen it specifically because it sounded like a good element for them. Something that could be balanced against their usual perfectionist tendencies. The berries were next, this time simply pulled out of the pocket in their baggie, and held in Morgan's off (right) hand. If this was true, if they could be killed doing this, then it would be very good to eat these berries, soon. But Morgan waited, knowing that they would have to make sure that the knife was close, because as soon as they ate the berries they would have to cut themselves, and they didn't see the knife just yet...

Morgan took the berries out of the plastic bag, they were quite strange looking. One in blue, one in purple, and one in a reddish pink. That was probably important, it probably took all three of these precious berries for the healing to work. Morgan couldn't help but be curious about this; did they speed up the metabolic rate to help facilitate healing? Or was it more of a 'helps the immune system thing'? It wasn't that Morgan wasn't capable of considering that they may indeed be magical and that was simply it, it was just that their first instinct was that there just HAD to be a mechanism through which this occurred. Magic or no. They kept an eye on the knife. This had to be done just so. Morgan probably should have been a lot more scared than they were, with all the ingredients sitting on the altar, when they saw the blade. It looked like it had been used before. Meaning that it was probably covered in germs. Morgan had a terrible immune system. However, if the berries could help keep from presumably bleeding out, then they could help with that too, right? The speakers did not bother Morgan in the slightest, perhaps because Morgan could hardly see them, they were so intent. The bespectacled human popped the berries into their mouth, chewing them. The juice was enigmatic, a flavor that Morgan couldn't quite place.

Morgan immediately picked up the knife, the one that was certainly ornate but definitely used before, and then did not hesitate- the berries had been taken just a second before. They drew it across their fore-arm, opting for that instead of the typical palm-cutting that often occurred in books because that was super painful and pointless since the arm would bleed just as well. They trembled slightly, as they dropped blood on each of the ingredients, one by one. The berries would hopefully take effect soon. The chaos crystal, mind crystal, and both prismatic crystals each had blood on them now- at least one drop a piece. Morgan couldn't help but give a chuckle as they felt a kind of lurch- somewhere deep in their chest. Morgan immediately fell to their knees, face down, glasses nearly touching the ground. In front of the altar and in front of the speakers, feeling the crushing need to give up... Something. A soul piece, right? An offering to the gods. Morgan could feel it now, and gave it up willingly, and surprisingly happily. Morgan had not been sure about this part before, but they were sure of a few things right now. One, was that souls were real, and they really hurt. The next, was that the gods had to be real, or at least some semblance of them, because... Because. Was this what it was like to have one's soul ripped to remove a piece?
