It was such a nice day out she was working in the garden, attempting to plant some seeds and taking care of her many plants who ran around her feet as she worked. She laughed as they explored their expanded garden plot, she had bought the one next to hers not too long ago and was still trying to get it to work a bit. It was a disaster, but so was hers when she had gotten it, but now it had a little stream and a gazebo there now which the plants truly seemed to enjoy, she knew Kanre did at least, her Lotine. While she was getting more Lotine all the time, Kanre held a special place in her heart. Why that was, she wasn't really sure, but that didn't really matter did it? Smiling, she brought her hand to her neckline as she stood up and summoned her little fire spirit, Scorshasia. Maybe it was strange to bring a fire spirit to the flammable gardens, but it would be alright, Scorch was a good little spirit. She was supposed to meet Renathan here, and as long as she was careful, there wouldn't be a repeat of the last time they met. Her new leg was phenomenal though, she thought as she balanced on it for a moment with a laugh. Scorch stared at her and then wove around her neck, feeling like mist when she settled down. It was lovely and she had missed this little spirit, she just hoped Renathan would like her as much as she did. Jack: 1/5 Scorshasia: 1/10

Renathan was glad to be able to go on another date, but he had been so nervous. This was an honest to goodness, date. Jack had called it a date. He couldn't help but undo all of his braids and redo them a few days before, and then carefully choose the exact waist cloth and carefully chose a mixture of colognes that he felt like really complimented his natural smell. He had no idea what to think about it, and tried not to overthink it. Renathan had no idea which pet to choose to accompany him to this trip; he just knew that he wanted a bit of peace and quiet with Jack. He really wished that he had been able to go back to the gemstone workshop to make her a gift before all of this, but it still wasn't open... He sighed at the idea of that. He decided to bring his favorite orbaru, Lazare wit him, because he figured that it would give him some peace and quiet and Jack could perhaps also pet him? He wasn't sure if she had met Lazare, before. He also decided that he would take her a plushie that he'd had made of Lazare; it was really cute! He figured that it was a normal thing to give a plush to a date, right? He felt a bit cheesy as he made his way to their designated date spot, Lazare all cuddled with the plushie. He had one too, but he didn't have to tell her about that, of course. It was perhaps a little embarrassing. The gardens were beautiful this time of year; but Jack was much more so. Renathan took a split-second of a moment to look at her and breathe out a contented sigh before he quickly stepped out and waved to her a bit shyly, both the orbaru and the plushie held under one arm. "Hey, Jack." His voice cracked a bit, and he felt a little bit embarrassed.

"Hey there, Renathan!" she said, waving back to him with a smile on her face. She leaned on her walking stick, she had recovered it after the accident, and simply carried it around now in case she ever needed it. It was a habit, and one she was determined to kick one of these days, but for now there was a comfort to it. Plus she was nervous and needed a worry stone of some kind, the walking stick would do well for that. Well, and the spirit amulet, but she didn't think the fire spirit would enjoy being summoned off and on again and again. Chuckling a little, she reached up for the little spirit around her neck and patted the bits of mist she could feel.
She glanced behind her at her garden and rubbed her thumb over the stick in her hand, "I know it's not much to look at, but it's mine! It's not the fanciest place for a date, I know, but I have a gazebo at least?" Chuckling nervously, she shifted from foot to foot before focusing on the Orbaru under Renathan's arm, "Oh he's cute! What's his name? I've seen one or two with his markings, but not him I don't think..." She smiled brightly and cooed for a moment longer before finally walking over to him and giving his mask a kiss on the cheek.

"I hope you have been doing well!" He said, cheerfully, while slowly closing the distance between them. "This is your garden?" He asked, taking a look around with wide and excited eyes. "Oh wow, Jack, it's beautiful, you are so good at gardening!" He grinned beneath the mask, and then cut his eyes at her a bit. "Not as beautiful as you are, though." He could feel his own face heat up. Renathan lifted up the orbaru, holding it about like a king holding up his child to his subjects. "Oh, this is Lazare! He is a custom, and the parent of the entire line of those orbaru. He's actually my favorite orbaru, but I haven't taken him out much." Truth was, Lazare spent most of his time in Renathan's room sleeping on his bed. He then offers him to Jack to pet, the plush right next to the odd-colored orbaru. "Ah, and uh, I got something for you!" Renathan was quite a bit happy to see Jack, and couldn't help but walk up to her as quickly as possible, and then wrap his non-orbaru-carrying arm around her gently. Lazare sat there, his tongue hanging out of his mouth quite a bit like cats tended to, his bright eyes glossy and excited. Orbaru were adorable, after all! The movements were a bit awkward thanks to his holding of the two things, but he hadn't really thought about it beforehand, sadly.

Jack felt a blush coming on when he said that, and she shook her head a little, kissing him on the cheek of his mask to hide her surprise a little. It was always strange to hear him say that kind of thing, and the very fact that he thought it in the first place embarrassed her a bit as well. She then reached out to pet the little Orbaru with a delighted look on her face, "He's super soft! What do you wash him with? I'll need to switch shampoo it seems..." Jack was amazed about everything pet related, and Orbaru were a delight to her, she loved working with them. She chuckled a little and patted him on the head before her eyes going wide and shaking her head, "Oh no, you didn't have to get me anything!" Her hand went up to Scorch who looked around sleepily. Usually she went back into the amulet whenever she was tired, but this time she knew the woman needed her.
"Oh! And I'm kind of like you now!" the woman exclaimed, fishing around in a pouch for a moment before producing a glowing red orb, "I made myself a fire node. No experimenting this time, we don't need another bad thing to happen..."

Renathan smiled, of course, beneath the mask, and he was infinitely glad that she couldn't see how embarrassed he was. He was pretty cheesy, right? That was the kind of thing that was typically done in the romance novels written in the Labs-City, and honestly it was much different than how things were done in his land. However, that was fine, he was basically Pethian now, right? He'd been here several years now. "We use a dry shampoo, I could bring you some sometime if you'd like to check it out? I use it on my equillion, too." It was pet safe, and it did make the furrier critters super soft! "It can't hurt them if they try to lick it out. Lazare is pretty licky." He says, happily. True to form, Lazare is already trying to lick her hands with his little soft tongue. That was half-way adorable, but it was kinda gross sometimes because Lazare really liked to lick people in the face. "Oh, I wanted to though! I know you love orbaru, and maybe it's a cliche, but I had two of these made so that you can have one!" He situated his arms a little bit, so that he could hand her the plushy. He half looked away, nervously.
Renathan stared at the orb- he was always amazed by magic and Jack's resilience, and the orbaru reached out his little paws towards it for a moment before becoming distracted by a moving leaf. "Wow, that is amazing Jack!" He was so glad he had been able to help a little bit. "You are so resilient, I can't imagine making as many as you have. The process is so exhausting." Was that the truth! He felt a little bad that so many people were beginning to get savvy of it; it was dangerous, and most folks didn't have the gumption that Jack had. Renathan sure didn't have as much as she did.

"I'd love to try some sometime, I could get some of my Orbaru or Pachee either way!" she told him happily, rubbing Lazare's head as she spoke. She loved the species, she wasn't going to get rid of them anytime soon it seemed, and she gave a sweet smile to the boy as she petted him. She needed to get some of them softer in order for them to be happy, she knew it as well as anyone else, and if Renathan had something he was willing to share, then that was even better. She trusted him more than any other person in the Labs it seemed. "Aww, well thank you, it's adorable!" Jack exclaimed, taking it and hugging it for a moment. It was almost as soft as the Orbaru himself, and she smiled as she realized she was probably going to keep it in her room whenever she slept. For the light. Yeah... for the light. Right. Shifting the plushie to one arm, she smiled and dug around in a pouch after putting her node away again. She then pulled something out and held it out to Renathan with a sheepish smile, "I guess I got something for you too...""A collar of speech, I think you were wanting one so I got one for you," she finished with a little smile. She hoped that was what he wanted at least, it was the least she could do for him... "I mean, it's kind of a repayment for helping me out when... well, you know, but also I wanted to get you something and the Workshop is still closed you know."Scorch drifted down her arm lazily and sniffed at the man and his Orbaru, tilting her head a bit before stretching out along the woman's outstretched arm. She was just curious as to who this was it seemed, and Jack chuckled a little, "It took a lot out of me, I'm waiting a year of course for the next one, as long as I can find the crystals for it. Oh! This is Scorshasia by the way, my amulet spirit. I felt it was worth it, seeing as how you've swallowed a fire node and I just made one. She's the one most bonded to me so far, though I'm trying to work with the others a bit, and I've been meaning to take her out for awhile now."Jack: 4/5 Scorshasia: 4/10

Renathan smiled, he could definitely help with that! "Next time we hang out, I'll bring you some for you to test out. Hopefully the breeding center will get down to the bottom of whatever happened with the orbaru." He still had no idea why orbaru were still acting up, breeding-wise. Renathan grinned as Lazare nearly got his wish of licking her hand whenever Jack took the plush from him, and he was so pleased that she seemed to like it, if the way she was hugging it was any indication! He was glad that she liked it; the tail tended to cast blue-colored stars all over the walls in his bedroom, and the plushes were so soft. Renathan was surprised, absolutely surprised. He was shocked that she had splurged so much to get him such an amazing gift. He had been wanting to get one this last time he went to the Traveler's Emporium, but he had not seen one there at the time. "Jack, oh, you shouldn't have!" His voice was shocked, and then he gently reached out with his now free arm, and reached out to take it in order to free up Jack's arm. "Thank you so much Jack, I appreciate your kindness." He knew that she was so resourceful and kind. "I'd been looking for one, but the shopkeep said that they were out last." He didn't want to ruin the moment by reminding her that she didn't have to thank him for helping her, he was mostly useless whenever... All of that had happened. He tried not to think about it, but he worried about her even more now. "Jack, I am just glad that you are okay, you are a real gem." She was just so kind that it really shocked him sometimes. He wasn't used to it; she was such a special person. Renathan leaned forward, only just now seeing the little amulet spirit. He'd never seen one before. He looked quite puzzled for a moment after it. "I've never seen one before; is it magical?" He could feel some kind of energy coming off of it, and it reminded him of the energy that came off of his own node before he swallowed it, and the energy from Jack's fire node. "It is really neat that it is bonded to you!" He moves Lazare over to one side ever so gently, to keep him from pawing at Jack's arms too much.

A frown crossed her face for the moment, she didn't know what had happened to the Orbaru, but she hoped it would be resolved soon enough. It was an issue that bothered her quite a bit at this point, she figured with a little sigh, hopefully they would figure it out soon, but she didn't know if she was going to hold her breath about it at the moment. Ah well, the kits would come when they came, it wasn't something that could really be too rushed at the moment she thought. "Well... I asked someone else to pick it up for me so you wouldn't see me head over there. Just in case," she told him, scratching the back of her head with her now free hand sheepishly. She chuckled at herself, all this secrecy for one little thing, it wasn't too much for her at the moment, she had plenty of credits to spare.
"Yes, she's magical. They all are, I have eight of them, though they're all different things. I love them though, they're amazing to have with you sometimes, even though I can do a little more magic than Scorch here can right now," she chuckled a bit. She would still bond with her amulet spirits, even if she didn't have much use for their magic after awhile. She wanted all the nodes at least, and she smiled a bit as she thought of it. Ah well, things would be fine. "Well what all do you want to do today?" Jack asked, tilting her head, Scorch still wrapped around the arm holding onto the plushie of Lazare.

Renathan couldn't help but laugh a bit at the idea of Jack sending someone else so that he wouldn't see it. "You are the kindest; and you really think of everything!" He hadn't really considered it before that she was so good at planning things, but it had hit him that she was super kind and thoughtful. He gave her a quick hug using his off arm, not quite wanting to make her uncomfortable, but wanting to show his thanks in some way. "Thank you so much Jack." He glanced around, and took his mask off, knowing now that since this was her personal garden, that they should be fine.
Renathan's mouth shaped into a small 'o' as he thought about the implications of that. "I didn't know that the Labs had created anything like this? How are these not very common?" This is the first time he'd seen one after all, and Renathan had been especially studious in figuring out things that were a bit obscure in the labs. "Sorry about all the questions, I really enjoy studying the labs things." It had become a bit of a hobby of his, in the last year, to keep journals on the creature types that he saw around the labs.
Renathan did think that the amulet spirit was quite cute! His curiosity was just getting in the way of that a bit.
"I uh, well, I'm free for the rest of the day. We can do anything you'd like!" He was quite excited about that, holding Lazare up to his chest and gently slipping the gifted collar of speech into his bag in such a way that it would not get damaged. Lazare followed the 'shiny' with his eyes, his cute tail glittering with stars in the way that it tended to when he was excited about something. Sometimes Renathan wondered if he was accidentally going to bite his tongue someday, with how often it stayed hanging out. "I am down for anything." He wanted to get to know what she liked to do.

Jack laughed and hugged him back as best as she could with her free hand and then smiled, "You're welcome! I hope it works well for you." While she wasn't sure who he was going to use it on, she was sure it would be a good idea no matter what it was going to be used for. He had so many animals she was sure would use it, so that was going to be interesting to see she was sure of it.
"Actually..." she trailed off for a moment, trying to figure out how to explain things, "They're from a shop called The Veil. No one's been able to find it again in years though, so it must have moved somewhere else. Where to, no one knows, but these few things are the only evidence it existed it seems." Jack frowned a little as she thought of it and wondered where it was. She would have liked to breed her amulet spirits at some point, that was something they were thinking of letting people do, but now it was gone.
Hmm, what to do... It was then she realized she had no idea what to do during this time together, and her eyes popped for a moment or two before she shook her head a little, patted Scorch on the head, hand sinking into the mist, and then nodded. "Why don't we go window shopping for a bit? Just look at things in shops without intending to buy? Then we could head to my house, cook some food, and bring it back for a picnic!" she exclaimed happily, "We can talk about fighting and breeding, training and different species while we do."

Renathan actually still had an unused charm of brilliance, as they were called, and also an unused collar of speech, but he really wanted to keep those back for creatures that didn't already have sentience in the future, so he had planned to buy another collar of speech for a creature that already had sentience but no way to speak. He thought that it would be a good idea to give a creature some more independence, at least a bit, because he always felt a bit icky about 'training' sentient creatures because it was hard to get permission to help them work with anything. Or at least that was how Renathan thought of it at least. "I am sure it will! I have a few sentient creatures that could really use a voice, you know?" He said, conversationally. "I feel a bit weird about training sentient creatures, if you know what I mean."
Renathan was quiet as he listened to her story, his face absolutely rapt with curiosity. A thousand questions hit him at once, since he had literally never heard of a non-labs-oriented place that had been around here. He decided not to ask them, because she probably didn't know a whole lot either about such a mysterious and odd place. It was amazing to see proof that such a place existed. Did it move somewhere to another land? Renathan knew that there were some merchants from his homeland that moved continents, maybe that was what happened? "I wonder what happened to it. I would have liked to have gone." He nods. He loved to learn new things, after all.
Renathan held Lazare gently, petting his little head scruff of fur, and then gently smoothing down his one ear that stuck up more than the other a little bit. They were so curly and cute! "Oh that sounds great, especially the food bit. I'd love to help cook with you later!" He'd just eaten a bit ago, so the window shopping sounded super fun. "Which shops do you want to look at first? I am sure that Lazare will really like looking at himself in the windows." He chuckled, and gently touched the top of the creature's head with his nose. Lazare looked a bit pouty, for a moment. "Sounds great Jack! I have so many stories I can tell you, but you go first. I don't want to accidentally talk about my own experiences without hearing about yours. What have you had going on, recently?" He smiled at her and gave her a quick nuzzle before letting go of the hug and slipping his mask back on, since they would be heading into town.
He was secretly quite excited about the picnic, too. That sounded like lots of fun!

Had she even trained a sentient creature before? Jack tilted her head as she thought about it a little bit, maybe one, but was that it? "I think the only one I've taught is Vesuvius, but we share a Ribbon so I had that to work with at least. I guess I feel a bit weird about it as well. I have a Golem with a charm of brilliance, a collar of speech, and both a ribbon of telepathy and ribbon of empathy, but I've not done much with him yet either. He keeps to himself most days, he enjoys his solitude after becoming intelligent I've found. He's very philosophical."
Oh the Veil, she didn't know how to describe it, but she wasn't really sure he would have liked it or not really. It was an intriguing shop, but the people running it... "I'm sure you would have liked the shop at least," she said a little delicately with a smile on her face. She could just picture him excitedly looking around at everything they offered when it had been open. She herself had been back to the spot many times, and it was as though it had simply vanished. She hoped Yamase was alright... Seguchi could burn.
"Perfect!" she exclaimed happily, "We'll cook some steaks later with some vegetables and fruit I pulled from the garden. Unless you think of anything else? I know that's what we seem to have often at least. Nature's Bounty and Herbologist's Delight are always fun to look at? Though I'm sure Lazare would like Piko Pets! Ooh, and I need to hit up Hook, Line, 'n Sinker soon, I need new bobbers if I want to go fishing again. What about you?" Jack tucked the plushie under her arm and grabbed her walking stick before starting to slowly walk out of the garden with a smile on her face, she always smiled around Renathan. She... uh... huh. Interesting.
"Lately with me? Oh my fire node at least! But you already saw that, I'm going to try for a light node next I think, you need a lot more crystals for those though. Other than that, just training Kro for the tournament! Are you entering?" she asked.

The idea of training a tat-lung made Renathan a bit nervous, but he knew of someone that intended to train as many as possible, and that sounded a bit terrifying. They were stronger than humanoids, smarter than humanoids, and most of the time arrogant. Jack was really exceptional in his mind for being able to work with one! The idea of a sentient elemental golem, however, made him laugh a bit. "Oh wow, that is really neat! I would have never thought that an elemental golem would become a philosopher if given the chance." That was so interesting and neat!
Renathan would never truly know what it was like to deal with a shop of wonders with such a rude owner, he would never even be aware of that fact, and it was certain that he probably wouldn't have reacted well to the rudeness, but the idea of the shop itself would probably have sent his mind reeling. Renathan was never really super excited about magic the way that some were, but now that he had it he couldn't help but be curious about the whole situation.
Renathan looked quite excited! "I love steaks with vegetables, and fruit! Had I known, I would have brought some from my garden. I recently set it up!" He had forgotten to tell her, hadn't he? He was so bad about that, he had a lot of stuff going on at once anyway. Renathan listened to Jack excitedly and happily walked alongside her to the best of his ability, not wanting to overtake her with his long legs. He slowed up just a little bit to make sure. "Sounds like a good date to me! I actually haven't heard of a couple of those shops, what does Piko Pets sell?" Renathan wondered for a moment. "It would be nice to know which gardening items to pick up for my garden, now that I think about it? I'm only just starting." He knew that good items were super important!
Renathan listened raptly. "Which crystals do you need for the light node? I might go back mining again, and I'll keep my eye out for you." He nodded. He would help where he could! "Oh, Kro is going to do so well!" He said excitedly. Now that will be a battle for the ages, right? His huge equillion with and even bigger huge thundergug? It kind of scared him, but it was going to be awesome. "I'll be entering too, with Shy Guy." He nodded. He wasn't sure if she had ever been told about Shy Guy? "He's sort of like a uh, brook horse?"

"Well I guess more of a monk now that I think about it? He thinks and does what he can that way, but he will resort to violence if it's necessary. Mostly defensive, but he will punch too if he has to," Jack said after thinking about it for a moment as they walked. He was an interesting Golem, she had to give him that, and she loved him deeply, she just needed to work with him a bit, which would make things awkward with his newfound intelligence. Hopefully they would just need to work on the finesse of the moves rather than the understanding this was what needed to happen.
Oh that was fantastic! "Well we could stop by your house on the way to mine! We can pick up what you want and supplement with what I have if you wanted," she said excitedly, looking over at him as they walked, "Piko Pets sells pocketpets and three colors of male Orbaru, I'm sure Lazare would like to watch some of the pocketpets at least! And we can stop by Nature's Bounty for garden items, I'd recommend getting one of each, it makes it easier for everything, but you can look when we get there." Oh it was so exciting that he'd made a garden, she couldn't wait to talk about the different techniques she was sure they would use!
"Pure crystals, but please let me pay you this time!" the woman pleaded with him, walking sideways and putting her hands together at the palms, "You found so many of my fire crystals, I feel so bad reaping the benefits!" Then she perked up, of course he was going to enter the tournament! Jack turned so she was walking facing forward again and grinned, glancing over at him in his mask, "Well, it'll be fun to fight you again, that much is certain. No hard feelings either way, right?"
