"Okay," Leth launched into their adgenda, Vidarr turning to her with at the familiar cue. "So - y'know the wind we were playin' with th'birds. I wanna try -" she began pointing to Xylon, but didn't manage to finish her thought. |Not bird,| Vidarr pointed out, perceptively. "...yeah, exactly!" If something was getting those rusty cogs in his brain moving, she wasn't about to be the one to grind them to a halt. The drake looked pretty pleased with himself for the astute observation. "So, we'll be needin' some kinda' bigger wind fo' a biggern'a bird, righ'?"Oooh. Though he didn't voice his thinking, Vidarr seemed to perk up at being given permission to attack another drake - unsurprising. He wasn't allowed to harass the unbroken bachelors on the property, but he'd toe the line as much as he could. "Now - not lookin'ta kill him," she pointed out, figuring she must have found Vidarr's line of thought for the glower she got in turn. air's wrath|4

"I know y'can do that. But - how much more o'th sky woul'be yours, if y'coul knock'im righ' out? Y'wanted more air-fightin', after all."[/i] Now that appeared to be a concept worth considering. At the deep look on the drake's furrowed brow, Lethalia helpfully added, "Flicking somethin' outta tha' sky, outta' your domain - landing's gotta hurt."There it was. The wicked gleam of exitement in his eyes, the one that meant she'd captured him with an idea. Perfect. Getting past the hurtle of Vidarr's personality was easily the most time consuming part of training him. Lethalia had wished there were other options to inspire his cooperation - she didn't consider herself a cruel person. But so much of training a fighting beast involved the harming of another creature - obviously. Vidarr's butchery was such a different version from her own, and yet, wasn't she the sentient one leading creatures to their demise as a drake-plaything? air's wrath|5

It would be best to ignore the thought, like she would with any complex matters. Filed away for safekeeping and addressing them never. Worked pretty good for her so far. Vidarr would have no such hang-ups; Leth found herself jealous of the simpllicty of his life sometimes. Who wouldn't want to just deal with guarding, hunting, girls, and a wee bit of fighting on the side? It was an easy life to envy. "Let's try - like y' gust, or th' wing buff y'just worked on," she reached, trying to find terms that would agree to Vidarr's sensibilities. Conceptualizing metering his strength for any reason wasn't his strong suit, and he would outright reject anything that asked for less than his full power. "So - 'stead o'bein' a cuttin' wind, or a battering one... les' try pushin' instead." Vidarr's look hinted he couldn't possibly conceptualize. Lethalia sighed and figured she couldn't possibly hurt the beast, so she might as well demonstrate. She leaned over and punched his shoulder, causing the drake to balk out of sheer confusion. What the hell was she doing?! "Not too hard like this," then she poked him with a sharp hoof, wondering if he could even feel it, "and not sharp," she placed the flat of her hand on his shoulder and pushed him, a cue he obliged with even if his owner was being nuts. "Push him outta' th'air!" air's wrath|6

|Okay, okay,| Vidarr caved. Leth couldn't help but smile at his near-human sounding dissent, just like someone trying to appease their assailant enough to stop getting teased. "Letssee it, then!" she demanded, before he could begin thinking on it too much. Allowing the drake to contemplate things was just the reason why he usually failed. He could overthink himself to messing up even the simplest of maneuvers, so she'd gradually learned how to set up the gargantuan dork for success. (He could underthink himself into just as many issues, but that was easier to remedy.) "Show 'im, Vidarr! Jus' knock'im outta the air, lessee your Wrath!"Vidarr didn't appear to do much different from his usual, gathering his gusting winds in the cups of his wings and rocketing them at his son. Resistant as he would be to his own lineage's winds, the first impact still looked like it hurt upon Xylon doing cartwheels in the sky at the end of his tether. air's wrath|7

Leth watched after and pursed her lips, dampening Vidarr's thrill from tossing the smaller drake around. Upon not being showered with praise, the drake's head swiveled over to his owner, the gleam in his eye asking if he did good. (The youngster was spinning in place - Vidarr thought that was worthy of praise, especially hoping his owner found it funny as he did.) She couldn't help the smirk that formed at the sight though - tamping it down and hoping it was the bleedof Vidarr's feelings and not her own. "Close," Lethalia threw out, even though it was a bit of a lie. It didn't look that close to what they were going for. "He's still flyin', so I'm thinkin' you needta put more... pushing force in th'wind." She'd been in storms where a humanoid could scarcely battle to stand upright in the gale winds; she held the thought to telegraph to Vidarr best she could. "Like that, y'know? Wind ain't gonna hurt, but 's gonna once'ya fall." Vidarr lv|146 ly|97 air's wrath|8

Xylon fluttered pensively at the very furthest reach the tether would allow, a scream tearing from his maw when he felt two sets of eyes upon him once again. It hadn't gone well for him moments ago when the pair had set him within their sights. There wasn't much room to flee, but he tried, hitting one end of the lead and then rocketing off to hit the limits of the opposite direction. Vidarr stood in place longer than Leth would've expected him to, wings half-cocked and ready. For some time he just tracked Xylon's erratic movements, seeming to take his time to pinpoint the unbroken one in the sky. "C'mon now, it'sa wind. This ought'ta be your thing," Lethalia ribbed, trying to jar him out of his overthinking process. His little brain wasn't going to garner him any more understanding - it was action that would teach this dullard anything. air's wrath|9

Hopefully Vidarr never caught onto how easy he was to manipulate. She'd gotten a read on him all too well - as she should after this long with the beast. A gust of wind caught one of Xylon's outstretched wings, seemingly shot off too hastily for a decent aim. That was one of the the risks of goading Vidarr into performing, but it was better than the drake stalling himself out. Leth cringed at the sight, relieved only when Xylon flopped lopsidedly in the air before righting himself. It didn't bode for their training, but the satyr really hadn't intended on the son getting violently damaged in the process. She had been okay with using him because this trickery wasn't intended to maim. "Somethin' like tha!" she commended, leaving off the 'be careful' she felt like tacking on. Though he was seasoned and in control, she was still siccing him after a fellow drake. What had she expected? Well, Xylon did bring about the proper amount of ire for inspiration, compared to the birds Vidarr had been felling. air's wrath|10

Pushing past Vidarr's pouting, Lethalia rallied, "C'mon, have 'nother go! Th' little shit's still flyin, Vidarr!"A rumbling grew deep in the drake's chest and he rose fully to his feet, tail lashing as he paced back and fourth to scope out his target. Leth wanted to prompt him - you won't have this amount of time, usually - but it would also be smarter to see Vidarr succeed once before they began fine-tuning. |Try aiming a bit ahead of where he's going-|No telling if it was from her piece of advice, but her drake was moving before the thought was completed, a strong impulse sending Xylon more earnestly ass-over-teakettle. The son spiralled his way to the ground, landing with a solid thump and cloud of dust. "Yeah!! Jus'like tha!" the satyr blurted, a victorious fist pumping into the air as if she'd pulled off the move herself. Vidarr was simply eminating his pleasure at the move. It was deeply satisfying to finally flick one of those pesky children out of the sky - his sky. "C'mon, Vidarr - les' find 'nother target," she reasoned, figuring his son had taken enough of the abuse. Xylon was getting up and didn't look hurt more than being bumped around and bruising his pride. air's wrath|11

|But Meade?!| it was the most increduous she'd ever heard him. (Leth had to admit she was shocked Vidarr knew his daughter's name, considering she'd never heard it uttered.) If his hesitation was borne from an avoidance of harassing his daughter, or because it was his daughter whose temper (and fire) was becoming legendary on the farm. Vidarr was seldom quite so unsure of something she asked him to do - never enough to feel it from him. It seemed to be his 'thing,' elements like shadows and fire were specially fearful to a drake that understood things of a more tangible nature. "C'mon, be real quick-like; it'll be fine, Vidarr. Lessgo, Wrath!" Lethalia cheered on, pointing to the sunny golden hen overhead. Narrowing his eyes against the sun, Vidarr's half-cupped wings roiled with turbulent wind Leth could feel just standing near him. The winds were loosened and went invisible for a breath before reaching their intended target, sending Meade to the ground with an angry plume of black smoke. "Good! Beautiful, Vidarr -" she hurried to commend him, until a rumble sounded at the far end of the meadow. It was most certainly not Vidarr - nor was the flower-burst of flames in that direction. "- now we run." air's wrath|12 end run|1 Meade is present but not gaining levels

The pitchfork was being used more as a leaning tool than anything else. "Thinkin' today... well, Foggy coul' use the exercise. All'a them hounds could," Lethalia rattled off, beginning to count out on her fingers what needed done. When the forefinger went out for just Foggy, followed by three more fingers for the other dogs, she seemed to dismiss even attempting to count the tasks. "Migh' be keen t'work with th' gifts y'brung home. Can' blame ya' all tha' much, 'spose. Selah's pretty even if she is a bitch, and those girls'll be some'a the prettiest yet... Not sayin' y'getta bring mo' stray hens 'n chicks home, but 'spose let this'un slide since they all so handsome."Lethalia continued her meandering buzz around Vidarr in his shed, uneffectively raking at the straw that was still mostly situated beneath his colossal body. She was daydreaming and talking so much, she didn't even take notice that she was scarcely raking up any bedding and that the drake's claws had crept over his head. Vidarr lv|147 ly|98 silence|1

"An then... well, hens always needin' work, and I'm needin' a wagon puller, cos I ain't payin' nobody for haulin' shit no more. So we coul' decide which'a those ladies seems good for that... Esti would never tolerate pullin' somethin', but betcha she coul be a mount. She'd even have a heated seat, at that." Poking the straw around with the pitchfork, Lethalia looked up to realize she might not have Vidarr's rapt attention. She smirked and poked around more, watching the drake flinch and hunker down when she started up again. "Juni's great an'all, but she's mo... fussy 'n even Esti. An' she's kinda cold. Maybe she'd stop bein' quite such a troubled shit if we went'n finished lettin' 'er tear up some poor browns." Vidarr grunted a little, as if some feedback was all that was needed to stop the flow of sound. The satyr smothered her giggle so he didn't catch on yet, and carried on. silence|2

"Then again, needin'ta work on Aeronwy now'at she's here. Y'met her yet? Ain't like no pliathor I've ever seen, y'might like her. Hey - that's a good'un! Can teach'ya how to swim, Vidarr! Go in m'lake here or we coul' fly further down th'river some'mo..." Vidarr groaned again and finally lifted that oversized head, too bleary eyed to glare at her in full force. "Oh! What's up, Vidarr?"|Quiet,| he intoned, not much of a demanding lit to his telegraphed tone and more of a request. The satyr almost felt bad declining him, but she'd already made up her mind. He was learning something today. ( Or she just needed someone to talk about all of the chores she'd fallen behind on. Either way it worked out for her.) "Make me," she said, puffing up a little as if more offended than she really was. "Seen'ya make things quiet before. Do it y'self or quit'cha whinin'." silence|3

Vidarr rightfully looked shocked - had he ever made a (more-or-less) polite request to her that she'd ignored before? The nerve! He cocked his head in thought and pinned his ears when the woman took up chatting and pacing around him again. Huh, right, done it before.. that was true enough. The drake would never forget a good fight, and he could definitely figure out how he'd done it then... Lazy dust motes once suspended in midair began to stir and dance with the visibly different currents of air. It was as if the walls were dust-studded blankets that were being pulled and warped this way and that, clearly under some sort of manipulation from the deeply concentrating drake. Another few minutes of Lethalia taking up space with her talking, she could feel the stagnant air pulse and contract around them. Leth yawned to pop her ears, and kept on talking. "Lookin' like'ya movin' th'air 'round more'n anything. Tha' the goal?" silence|4

The air pressed strangely against her eardrums. Something gave a quick, pitched ringing before it cut off completely, stealing the next string of words from Lethalia's mouth. Unsure if she ought to praise Vidarr for shutting her up, Leth grinned at the idea. There were ways she could still tell him well done even if she didn't speak it. |Heeeey! Not a bad silence. Nicely done, buddy!| she piped up in their link, finding that the drake's manipulation was obviously not so strong he could silence thoughts as well. As much as he would've wished it could. Vidarr's foreclaw hit the floor in a fit of rage and the silence shattered with it. The dull roar of life returned with wind pouring into the low-pressure system Vidarr created, bringing with it the cacophay of birds and dogs barking and murp lowing distantly. Banal farm noises that would have gone unacknowledged in the background were shockingly loud upon their reemergence. Had the farm always been this noisy? "No, really, good'un. Leave'ya be, now," she chortled more sincerely; her silence was his greatest reward, anyway. Might as well let him have it. Vidarr lv|148 ly|99 silence|5 end

Power that she could grasp in the form of Vidarr under her command - addicting, especially to a prey item such as herself. To feel his muscles working beneath her thighs to keep them both aloft, the wind stinging her cheeks, knowing the strength she could direct literally any where or at any thing... It was enough to make her feel punch-drunk, dizzyingly high upon realizing the the leagues of air between the relative safety of the saddle and the ground. No wonder the drakes love flying so - Lethalia felt like she could conquer the world anytime she was on Vidarr's back. "Do a barrel roll!" she found herself laughing. Even if the words were stolen upon the wind, her intent would be carried through their ribbon. At Vidarr's questioning grumble, Leth sobered herself enough to think on how to explain that one. |You... roll over. Like a barrel. Or a dog. Just in the sky.
