He'd not handled the creature yet, but two very distinctive things became clear when the giant deer-not deer had handed over the sleeping animal. No scales. And distinctively more... squishy for lack of a better term off to top of his head. With very long floppy ears vs Shabh's that stood straight up. The paws were much smaller then his palms, and so very small. Inwardly he felt spooked to handle it. He wasn't a strongman type, but the fear of breaking the new creature without meaning to... had to be gentle. Like handling a new sapling. Its not strong enough to handle regular handles yet. Woof woof! He froze in midstep. Ahead of him, some nameless one was being met at home by what didn't look like what was in the basket, or a rakai. Another sort of dog creature? Kind of in the middle, more of a desert fox look, bounding up and down on its master. 127 20.20 lv 72 Flare

This wasn't another companion for him. This puppy would, he hoped, keep Shabh company while he worked on getting the tent reworked to not collapse in the rain. The rain was so infrequent in the desert that the idea of flooding didn't even cross his mind. The parasol shop stood open as he crossed the main street, glancing both ways while holding the basket close. The owner out in front, sweeping the walk of crusted mud with a bristled broom. "Look who's not covered in mud today. Hello!" Curiosity of his handiwork drew the tumaian youth over to her. "Out for a stroll?" He nods and shows her the basket. Insert every adorable faced coo. "Whuat a sweet little baby puppy. So small... can I pet her?" The creature's paws twitch in sleep, kicking briefly before stilling again. They'd catch that bounchings squashy carrot yet. "Sleeping." Flare muttered, her antics making him a bit red. 128 1.20

"oh oh oh" the owner shushes herself, a finger to her own mouth, and adores from beyond the basket's rim. "Such a cutie. I'm very jealous. I might have to get myself a dog, but I don't have the patience to teach them anything." It wasn't the patience to teach, in his unsung opinion, but the repetition part that didn't make a ton of sense to him. Big difference between a big sharp points on every end dragon and a dog who's squishy on every end except one. "Are you pleased with the parasol?" A nod. Pointing at the garden to ask to go over and look. "Yes, you can come see. Those blosooms are doing just fine, far as I can tell anyhow." It'd caught her by surprise to see the tailed youth pull his hand away last week or so and flowers sprouting from the soil like they actually had been there. 129 2.20

A pleased hum could be heard if she stood close enough to the pale redhead as he looked over the tea fence at the spouts that were getting bigger every day. They'd bloom soon too. Life from the mud. How had he done that anyhow. "Was that magic? Are you some sort of caster?" No immediate answer, as he really didn't have one offhand. Was he a caster? No idea. Was that magic. ...yes. "Yes. Majick. Flowers grow." Well that made not a lot of sense. "In any case, I'm happy that soemthing's growing there, and soaking up the excess water. Still need to water them though. End of the week, I want that mud to be soil again, not mud." Didn't he know th efeeling. "Going home. Sleeping." "Alright. You and that cute little fluff come by another time then!" Flare hurried off to his garden with a slight increae of his step. Now the harder parts began. 130 1/3 Dog-thing 3.20

He hadn't expected the flock of seabirds to descend in such vigor. Occasionally he'd seen smaller birds in the area, but Flare hadn't seen a seabird, or a 'rat of the sky' as some traders called them when coming from big water places, never up close. But having twenty or thirty at once? Too much. Because one minute he's fighting off birds with a few swipes of his hands, and the next, being dragged rapidly out of the mansion by a terrified Percy. Forget fish man, he might need to be therapied on BIRDS. The world view came back to normal as soon as the two crossed the barrier of reality. A relieved breath escaped Flare. Those birds, so greedy and crowding reminded him much too closely of desert buzzards, that pick bodies clean. Nope. He could handle Shabh's wings, for they had no feathers and he wasn't 20 of the same beast. Scooping up the pup, he went back to the garden. Someplace there wasn't any flock of mad birds. 131 -start accept scary sights, again start accept noise- x.20

-borrowing from Ridelys Getting away from the birds was enough for Flare, but that wouldn't be enough. Percy quivered in his arms as he stepped innto the garden. Carefully scritching his neck scales a bit in a comforting manner. Poor thing; he didn't mean to take the pup to such a scary place. Shabh's experience with loud things and scary things came hand in hand during the dream-land mansion time; of loud noises and scary images that seriously spooked the poor pup, but he'd gotten over it, Perhaps that was going to be something similar? Percy wasn't Shabh, and notably wasn't his or used to his presence. So the likelyhood of bolting again was very likely. Hence, the leash/harness. Opinionatedly, there wasn't nearly as much loud noises or scary things her ein the garden. Until something came out of the tree, and caught on top of his head. It didn't hurt, because of bieng so thin, but something swung in his line of vision, as well as Percy's YIPE, WHAT IS THAT?! 132 x.20

The rakai freed himself from the gathering arms and tried to escape, but the lead led back to the one who wasn't the feeder, and subsequently tried harder to escape. Several swipes dislodged the item out of his hair and... a stick with a bat fell before him. Where had this come from? Something giggled up above him. Flare looked up... and found something akin to a large black bird, perched high up in the tree. It stood a few feet up, with sizable long legs, shiny black feathers, and what looked like a crown of rogue black feathers around its head. The bird cackled at him, a laugh that made Flare's hair stand on end on the back of his neck. DOG DOG. DOG SCARED. hahahahaha! The bird dove down at them, beating its wings and cackling at them as it snatched up the stick and bat and flitted back up the tree to its perch. Percy tried harder to escape, the sound of wings and screaming birds filling his ears and his mind and just freaking the hell out. It all went quiet suddenly. He paused, suddenly no giant bird? Looking back over his shoulder, NOPE GIANT BIRD. FREAK OUT! 133 x.20

It didn't take long for the bird's occasional dives and taunts to wear on flare's patience. He wasn't 'afraid' of birds, but this one sure annoyed him. {Shoo.} he flits his hands at the bird, rather stupidly. It flaunts its rather short tail feathers at him rudely and cackles, picking up the stick and bat and throwing it at him again. This time, he was prepared and put up his arm to avoid the object smacking him squarely in the ear. {You are a bad bird. Shoo.} the gesture is repeated. Either this bird is retarded or fearless, because it dives down, beats its wings in his face and at the now freaking out dog at his heels and picking up its toy and flying back up. Clearly wasn't going anywhere fast. The world sped back to normal, Percy all quivery and confused and afraid as the bird is bullying the big one who had hold of his line to escape. Wait a minute, why was the bird bullying the human with a tail? Screeching made his ears lay flat and quiver worse but something didn't add up. Birds don't attack people. Do they? BARK. The sound escaping from the puppy spooks him again. BARK. 134 x.20

There were very few times this year where having claws or sharp teeth would be handy in a situation; and definitely the appearance of an apex predator would serve well in this? Maybe? Because human vocal cords are arranged differently to what a ssashirk would have. So the hissing that Flare tried to produce sounded more like he was choking on a hairball. The bird found this very amusing, cackling loudly with laughter. Hahahaha! FUNNY FACE. FUNNY FACE! It picked up the stick and bat and threw it at him. BARK BARK. The bird's notice of enjoyment with bullying the human turns to the cowardly dog. Short and scaled with black stripes running down its back like some melanistic cat of wild descent with orange spits of color. The dog, backed quite aways from the bird, barked at it. Less of a big bark, but more of a puppy's bark. A yip, if one must give it a sound. It slowly turned its head to fix the puppy with a piercing glower. Giving a loud shrieking screech in its direction. The puppy's stiffened posture, flat ears and cowering look pleased it much. Puppies were fun to tease. Such fun. CRACK 135 x.20

The bird's head snapped back at the noise behind it. The human had stepped forward and SLAMMED its tail (tail?!???) down on the bird's precious throw toy. The stick that the bat was suspended to now broken into multiple pieces. BAD. BAD MAN. the bird cried out as it flapped up and down in place. BROKE TOY BROKE! The human's posture had changed, turning his head slowly. A sharp feral look in those big gray eyes. They had an eerie brown-green glimmer burning in the core of those eyes. Uh... unsure of the human's change in demeanor, the bird paused briefly. In front, a suddenly aggressive human. Behind, a cowardly dog. It chose to mess with the cowardly dog still. Flirting its tail feathers, the bird turned around, hopping towards the puppy again. Clicking its beak and acting the predator for the puppy. The puppy barked at it, trying to be brave. Reeally trying, but this was a scary bird! Really scary and scary acting and sounding... It was clicking and squawking and getting really close. He readied for that big beak to peck him... to hurt him... but nothing happened. About an inch from his face, the bird just... stopped. Everything stopped. 136 x.20

Arrm? The wide green eyes stared at the stillness around; the bird was this close and wasn't moving a muscle. Not even those bulgy beady eyes. Mean bird. He was brave! bark bark bark! Barking right in the creature's face for several seconds on end. Even swatting at the big fat beak. The head bumped a little when his paw struck out, tiling the the beak just far away enough that he could get round. Inspired by the lack of resistance from the mean bird, Percy tried again, scampering on the other side of the bird and barking at it for attention. NOthing came, so he jumped closer, swatted it, and backed off again. The world caem back einto motion again. and FLare found the bird no longer in his face, but now trying to pick on Percy again. He turned, ready to swat the bird away. But The bird had a number of feathers out of place. It squawked as the puppy bounded onto another side, away from its rather limited line of sight, and barked to get its attention; Suddenly reeling form being swatted. What? What! DOG DOG, BAD DOG! the bird cried. Flare could see the slight raises of the rakai pup's jowls, exposing puppy teeth. 137 x.20

BARK BARK! GO! AWAY! BARK BARK BARK! the puppy barked loudly and strongly as his confidence of not being pecked went up. The bird screeched loudly and tried to get into the air, to divebomb him. But something hit it from behind. It was a hard hit, but enough for the bird to screech and turn around clumsily in the air. {Leave my garden, bird.} Flare hissed at the ave beast, a few small pebbles in his hand. Flicking one at the bird. The shot looked way too low, but still struck the bird on the tips of its toes. SQUAWK! MEAN MAN. MEAN MEAN! hahahsaaha! THIEF THIEF. {GET OUT} Flare tossed another pebble at it, his eyes lit up and the strike went on its other foot. SCREECH! LEAVE LEAVE! The bird wasn't stupid enough to pick a fight wiht two aggressive creatures. Abandoning its broken toy, it flapped haphazardly to get some altitude and avoid the rock type missiles. The gleam in Flare's eyes died down, and he let the pebbles disentigrate in his palm. That... how'd he do that. He was upset at the bullying of the creature, and wanted to hit it, but not hurt it too badly. -flare casts angry pebbles unknowingly, uses 2 earth mp- 138 x.20

{I'm never owning a bird.} he decided, brushing the dirt off his hands and running curled fingers through his unkempt mane. It fell back into place with little trouble. Wiping his cheeks and forehead wit the back of his hand, Flare noted the little red swipes that showed on the pale skin. Ow. The bird had scratched him at least once. WIth luck, it would heal and not hurt any. Percy stood there, barking at the place where the bird had flown off in direction. His fur looked a bit unkempt. Carefully, Flare picked up the remains of the bat on a stick, picking the stick free and letting it fall on the ground. Taking its string down to being wrapped around the soft rubber body, the humanish threw the bat in Percy's direction. He paused at the sudden movement, and the unknown squeak sound, but WINGS, BIRD. He pounced, the bat giving a long and deflated sounding squeak... pulling on its wing and chewing on it. Winged things weren't so scary now, it seemed. 139 x.20
