Is that a chicken? Morgan had been incredibly baffled when they had first seen the strange furry thing that the jackalope was calling a wiurn. There was no way that it was a wiurn. It had no wings. It had four legs. It is flipping covered in feathers and looked like a cloud or a chicken, and nothing really like a wiurn! However, it all seemed to check out; not long after the blood was sent to the vet it came back; 100% a wiurn. Morgan had snapped at the chance to buy the creature, knowing that the sentience project that they were planning on trying out would be perfect for such a strange creature. Wiurn were well known to be quite stupid, and Morgan just knew that they would be able to test out whether or not those supposed 'charms' would actually increase the thinking capabilities of a creature.
Morgan always joked as a child that the idea of walking a wiurn down the street on a leash was just ludicrous. However, Morgan had never thought that they would be one of 'those' people. Morgan planned to at least get the creature used to them, a bit, before actually bringing them home. So they arranged for the creature to be passed into their care in a large cage on rolling wheels by the jackalope, in order to begin training it before they even got it home. It wasn't long before they were standing there in the park, with a caged... Fluffy chicken of a wiurn, ready to begin taking notes on it and getting it used to their presence.

Morgan knew that the main issues that they were about to face was going to be the fact that the wiurn was a giant dummy, and an aggressive one at that. Morgan knew that this was an absolutely stupid idea under most circumstances, creatures were already dangerous enough without picking the most aggressive species to attempt to train. However, they had carefully considered the pros and cons of the entire exchange. The creature had been relatively cheap; as if it was being gotten rid of for some kind of reason, but Morgan was confident that this issue could be found out and aggressively treated, if it were medical, and otherwise would be trained out of the creature. Morgan was not stupid enough to get too close to the cage all at once, but they were quite sure that others probably were.
The creature sure did look like a big fluffy chicken, but Morgan knew that the creature was aggressive by the way it snapped it's strange jaws at them. Those were not the typical jaws of a wiurn, just what was this thing bred from? One of the gene donors must have been some type of a custom.

It turned out that the real problem that Morgan had with the creature wasn't the floating, which wiurns did not typically do, or the fire breathing, which wiurns did not typically do, nor the strange horns that were substandard, the lack of the head crest or tail spine (for all that Morgan knew, the tail spine might actually be there under all the fluff), nor even the fluff; which is by far the strangest part of the whole thing, (wiurns were -NOT- fluffy!) but the strange, puppy-like, python-face that was on the creature. Morgan stared at it; bright glowing green eyes that had became that way after the swallowing of the chaos node meeting the strange 'closed-looking' eyes that the strange wiurn had. Morgan had been told that the creature could see through them just fine, but it was odd. Morgan was also told that this strange creature was a male; but that was not exactly easy to tell; not without getting up close to the animal at least.

The creature had huge claws and... paws? Or was that more like hands? Morgan had no real idea, having to keep at least ten feet away from the cage for now, in order to get the creature used to them. The creature was staring at them, and they were staring right back at it; they must have looked quite eerie with the glowing eyes. The glowing eyes sometimes made it harder to see at night due to the glasses reflecting the light right back into their eyes, but Morgan had learned to deal with that. Plus, it was in the morning and not at night right now; all the better for the blond human to watch the strange creature so that if the aggressive creature was able to find a way to get out (not likely) that Morgan would be able to see it and come up with a place. The creature was floating, even in the cage; which was the reason why it had to be caged for now.

The human wondered how long it would take to get the creature's psycho-social response to kick in. That would be great; and would really keep the creature from hurting them if they got closer. However; as it stood, the creature could breathe fire, probably knew how to do it, and probably knew exactly how far that cone of flame could reach. Morgan knew as they had been told; ten feet it seemed, so ten feet away they would stay. That was the idea, anyway. Morgan didn't particularly want to be burned to a crisp, anyway! Morgan had so many plans for this creature, and that would be inconvenient. Admittedly, the idea of a floating, huge, dangerous mount that kind of resembled a dragon was simply too much for Morgan to resist, even though wiurn were generally dangerous. Plus, Morgan wouldn't train a regular wiurn ever; their lack of front limbs, despite being more like a bird and Morgan not being bothered by birds, made Morgan a bit uncomfortable. The creature continued to stare them down, opening it's mouth to threaten, again.

Even the creature's mouth was strange to Morgan, completely confused about why it was so non-standard for a wiurn? The face was oddly shaped, the body was super long, and the legs and arms were so strange, and no wings? No wind buds even? It was quite odd indeed. Morgan cracked open the information booklet on wiurns, and wondered if any of this information would be useful for such an abnormal wiurn. Head bashing? No. Tail spike? Probably not. Flying? No, it floated, which was distinctly not powered with wings and was thus completely different. It hadn't quite made any noise yet, but Morgan was hoping that it had some kind of bad-ass roar or something. That would make for a particularly cool mount, good for battle at least. Morgan had always been curious about dragons; and this was certainly not a dragon! It did look like one though, even with that strange puppy face and closed-eyes thing. Even thought it was staring at them.

This creature was certainly going to be hard to work with. Having to stay in the general vicinity but not get close to it at all until the psycho-social aspect of the creature began kicking in enough for Morgan not to be seen as food as going to be quite hard. They knew that wiurns did also have that effect and that it wasn't exactly a strained one, like it would have been with the estharne, but the idea was still super odd. Just why would a big toothy cat hate people more than one of these relatively stupid huge aggressive wyvern-like creatures? It was really beyond the blond human, but it was still important, surely. Morgan wished that the labs had actually put that kind of information out to the public instead of some of this really vague bullshit that made no sense. For one, this suggested keeping the animals out in the yard in chains. That sounded absolutely ridiculous and depressing!

The creature that was still glaring at the human was certainly strange, and incredibly dangerous. It was not a so-called 'custom' creature, and that meant that it wasn't necessarily programmed to take to people very easily. For some reason, offspring were not designed with that sort of aspect, and Morgan did not know why that was. Perhaps offspring were supposed to be harder to take care of, despite costing just as much in a lot of cases? Morgan would never know. Morgan did wish that they could have seen the genes that were donated to this creature, or rather, the creatures that possessed those genes. Why did it float? Was there some other floaty, wingless, feathery chicken-wiurn out there? Was the gene donator a simple regular wiurn, and was it 'crossed' with some other weird animal? It was rare and generally abnormal for non-crossbred animals to have parents of different species, but it did happen in some rare cases. It must have costed a fortune, Morgan was sure.

Despite the breeding having probably costed more of a fortune than Morgan had actually paid for the creature themself, they also wondered why it was bred to be this way. What was the owner originally wanting with the breeding? It was always hard to know that without having seen the parents. Morgan hoped to get a closer look at it as time came on and they were able to get it used to them enough to actually get closer without being horrifically roasted. That way, they might be able to indicate exactly what the parents were. Of course, Morgan could just look up the creature's registry, and figure out what the parentage was reported as being. That was always an option, but Morgan didn't really feel like dropping everything to go do that just yet. Right now, it was the most important to simply get it used to them, and get it to stop snapping it's jaws at the human. Like it was still doing right now.

The creature was completely inscrutable, with it's eyes closed like that, and the scales of it's face quite fixed. Morgan couldn't figure anything out about it's current mood or the chances of it being dangerous. Of course, it did appear to be snapping it's jaw every now and again, with teeth flashing and tiny embers floating forth. Morgan knew that they were still in danger if they came any closer, at least until it calmed down and stopped looking angry, anyway. That was the trouble. With an aggressive and stupid creature, as well as one that was an offspring, it could take a very long time for the creature to get calmed down enough not to immediately kill Morgan as soon as the chance presented itself. Just how did the previous owned manage to move this thing out here without getting hurt? Morgan would have to ask that at some other point. However, with any luck, the still-bristling creature would manage to make a fine mount.

Morgan knew that this was going to be a long term thing to deal with; and was planning on coming back the next day to get the creature to begin to slowly equate their coming around with something that was not dangerous, and as soon as the psycho-social effect would begin to formulate and solidify, Morgan planned to beginning bringing special treats (as of right now, someone was bringing food other than Morgan to keep the creature from associating the blond human with food too much). Morgan knew that it was much safer to get the creature to get used to the owner before trying to barge on in and fight with the beast. A stressed creature was a useless creature in their book, and in general. Morgan was sure that it was time to leave today, and then come back tomorrow to continue this slow process. The bespectacled human would be back the next day, and maybe they would get more progress in, right?

Morgan was back, giant floaty chicken-dragon in tow. The creature was still banded about the muzzle, but not due to Morgan's safety this time, which was a plus. Indeed, the creature did not need his legs banded anymore, and instead was being 'lead' on a steel chain with a steel collar. The creature did not attempt to harm anything with it's claws, for one it was not excessively hungry, and for two it's jaws were banded shut for now. Morgan made it to the park with the strange creature and removed the face banding; earning a quick snap of the jaw that, after flinching, Morgan realized was more of a stretch and a yawn, and not really an aggressive maneuver.
Wiurn were simple creatures, very simple. Once the band was off, Morgan knew that it was training time. This had been planned for a while; the creature was bought to be a mount. Morgan just wished that they had gotten the chance to train Waar as a mount first... Instead.

Morgan knew that this was either going to be the hardest part, or the easiest part, depending on how the creature took to it. Wiurn were not typically intelligent, and that made it hard to 'show' them that tack was not dangerous. However, it also made them sometimes not realize that other creatures would consider the weight dangerous, so it was not going to be too much of an issue, the human knew it was a coin flip either way. Morgan picked up the surprisingly light saddle, and then pulled down on the metal chain, bringing the wiurn down to them.
The chaos elemental gently slipped the saddle, without the trappings, onto the back of the wiurn to get a taste for how he'd react. Thanks to the psycho-social aspect, the creature was not really inclined to harm Morgan at the moment. The creature, probably thanks to all of the fluff? Didn't seem to realize that it was even there.

Morgan knew that once they got this done, that they would immediately have to move on to the next aspect. They didn't have forever to do this, anyway, the training guild changed challenges all the time. Morgan had so far been able to keep abreast of them, but that probably wouldn't always happen. There were so many things that Morgan could do at one time. The bespectacled human gently moved over to the side, to begin trying to hook the saddle onto the creature, around it's belly.
Michiryuu moved, twisting around in a way that Morgan would not have expected a wiurn to do, and then immediately turned, to look at Morgan with those strange slitted eyes. "Neh, Michi, you have to let me put this on you." Morgan said, mostly out of reflex. Morgan attempted again; and failed due to the twisting. Morgan immediately gave the creature a 'look', green eyes flickering like television fuzz.
