Ah fishing. The crisp air, the lovely water, and the sandy bank. She held her net over her shoulder as she walked down toward the river, Ember a little behind her and to the side as they walked, stepping together as they went. Jack didn't get to the canyons too often, but when she did it was a memorable experience after all. But she wanted to fish now she figured with a little smile, and Ember was completely okay with that as well, she liked to eat fish, but she knew the woman had another reason as to why she wanted to go fishing. It had to do with some shop in the Labs, some kind of trading items or something, Ember didn't really understand it, even though she was quite intelligent, but that didn't really bother her too much, she just wanted to be with Jack as much as she could. Ember was excited to fish and chatted the whole way down to the river, Jack chuckling the whole way as well. She was a chatty thing, updating her on everything that had gone on in the Canyon since her last visit, which was, admittedly, not too much stuff to talk about, but somehow Ember managed alright. She was a sweet Draconic, she had to give her that, and she smiled and leaned into her once they got to their prime spot next to the river. Jack settled down on a big rock that overhung the river and then got to work. She'd brought both her pole and her net, but for now she was going to use her net, and she hooked a fuzzy lure into the net at the same time. Anything to help her out a bit, she figured with a little smile on her face. Maybe that would work for her today.

Nothing was going to get in their way of fishing, she figured with a smile, and she leaned back against Ember as she dipped her net in the water, waiting for something to come along and tug a bit on it. If something caught itself, then she would be happy, but if not, it didn't necessarily matter now did it? Fishing was meant to be relaxing, she thought as she stared up at the sky, Ember's warm skin underneath her head as she looked. It was going to be a good day, she could feel it, and she knew she would end up catching tons of fish no matter what anyone might say. She wished she had something to talk about, but merely being in the presence of the Draconic was enough to calm her down and keep things going for the moment. Even if she fell asleep, she knew that Ember would keep a watch out in the river to see if anything swam by.

Jack sat there for awhile, nothing toying with her net for awhile, until she closed her eyes and settled back. The sun was warm on her skin, she was wearing jeans and a swimming top for the trip, nice and warm with a warm, gentle breeze across the water to give her that little chill she needed to curl up with her Draconic and fall asleep. She tried to hold onto the net, but Ember took over when she realized it was starting to slip. The big Draconic held it out and looked for some fish coming their way, though nothing was coming for the moment. It was strange, it was the wet season and yet she couldn't see anything in the water. The river was high and wide at this point, and they always had luck fishing, maybe today was just going to be different. She glanced over at her human with a proud look on her face, she loved her so much.

Jack's dreams swiftly turned into nightmares about the tree falling, only this time it fell on Renathan and Auburn. It was a terrible dream she couldn't bring herself out of, and when she finally managed to let her eyes flutter a little, she realized she had awoken in a cold sweat. It was going to be tough to do things after that dream, she had it often, of trees smashing the things she loved most in the world. She shook her head and sat up, Ember looking at her curiously. "I'm okay, no worries Ember..." Jack told her with a fake smile on her face. Ember knew something was wrong and eyed her, "You're lying to me." The woman sighed a little and shook her head, "I've been having nightmares since the accident, but it's not a big deal, I can handle it." It was true, she could deal with it, even though she didn't want to.

Oh, it seems that you have the chance to catch two fish in your net at once; as one seems to be chasing the other very closely! [1-5]

"Jack!" Ember called out quickly as something zoomed toward the net. Jack woke up sleepily but shook it out of her head when she saw what was going on. Fish, finally! She didn't know how long she had been asleep, but that was alright she figured, at least she was trying at this point. Chuckling, she took the net back from her Draconic and then fished up two little fish, a purple one and a black one with red spots. It almost looked like it would be more at home in the depths of the ocean, not the river in the canyons. Oh well, it all worked out though, she figured, and she pulled the net back and got to work. She took out the purple fish and grabbed her stringer, looping the string through the gills of the fish so it would stay in one spot for awhile. It didn't hurt them, it was just weird. 6 Jack: 6/20 Ember: 21 1/5; 50 1/5

Grinning over at Ember, Jack grabbed the black fish and did the same thing to it as she had done to the purple one. She was pleased with her catch so far, and she knew there had to be more fish in the river for now than she could see, and so she sat on the rock, legs dangling over the edge, with Ember behind her still looking out further than she could. Part of her was upset Ember couldn't breathe fire or anything like that, but that was fine, she was a good Draconic no matter what, she figured as she looked back at her bonded, her net playing in the water a little bit. She didn't want it to slap at the water any, that would make the fish all steer clear of the area, but she wanted it to sound like the water was just rushing by another rock or something, just in case.

All she could do was hope she would catch more fish, and she might turn to her pole later on or something, but for right now she wanted to catch something else, though she didn't really know what she wanted to catch. It was fun though, she didn't often fish with a net, so it was interesting to see how she was doing with it at the moment. Nothing else was going to happen for the moment, she figured with a little chuckle, Ember behind her licked her cheek a little, and so she settled back against her Draconic again, humming a song. It was a lazy day, she'd come to the river just to get away from the Labs for awhile, she figured, get rid of all the issues she was having, stretch out her new leg, and see what she could find, eventually at least.

As Jack hummed, Ember listened and put her head onto her front paws, claws out like they always were, unlike a cat's claws which pulled inside every time they weren't in use. Jack smiled over at her, wondering if it was Ember's turn to fall asleep, and she patted the Draconic on the head before turning back around and watching her net, humming the whole while. She didn't know what she was humming, she was just making noise at this point, and when she glanced back again, she saw that the Lashak was finally asleep. Jack chuckled a little and rubbed Ember's neck, wondering what she would do without her Draconic. It wouldn't be easy to live without her, that was for sure, she thought, and she turned her attention back toward the fishing net for a little while, wondering when the next fish would or were going to be caught at this point.

If only she knew how lonely Ember had been without her. Sure she had her father and the others in the cavern, but that wasn't anything like her Bonded. Jack smiled at her though, maybe it would be better now that she was there, it wouldn't be so lonely if she stuck around this time. The Draconics could get along on their own pretty well she figured, but she didn't realize they were lonely and missed her as much as they did, especially Ember. Jack stretched out her shoulders a little, the pellets floating in the net to see if she could get anything new at this point, and she hoped that things would come to fruition soon enough. She liked to fish and she couldn't wait to teach Renathan how to fish as well, that was going to be loads of fun, and she couldn't wait to meet Mintaka.

Jack was used to not catching things from time to time, but when an empty can came into her net, she deflated a little. She knew people threw out their trash all the time, but this could really hurt a fish whenever it came time for them to swim through the area. It just didn't work out that well she thought for a moment, and she hoped that she had caught it before it had done any damage. Jack placed it into a bucket she had brought with her for just this occasion and then turned back to the river. At least the ooze that was in it, whatever it was, hadn't gotten all over her, but now she was worried about her net, so it was time to change out her equipment. It was a good thing she had brought both her net and her pole with her today, now her pole was going to get some use. 11 Jack: 11/20 Ember: 22 1/5; 51 1/5

Ember peered over her shoulder, waking up a little bit from her slumber, as the woman checked out the line on her pole. It had been so long since she had used it she was afraid it was going to snap if something tugged on it. Snap it did, and Ember winced a little as the woman sighed a bit. She knew it was going to be like this, she just knew it, but she had decided to bring it anyway without doing any maintenance on the line. Oh well, she had some extra line with her and all that, so that would be fine with her right now. Jack pushed a hand through her hair, pulled out some extra line, then leaned back on her Draconic so she could fix it. She had to restring the whole thing which was going to take a little while, but that was fine, she had the time.
