Morgan was not the kind of individual that would normally come out to some place like this. Morgan had a house that was much bigger than the so called 'Eccentric's Mansion' looked from the street, and the grounds were almost always weird and unkempt looking. Sure, it was fairly boring looking, but today Morgan had something else in mind. Morgan had what was essentially a ticking time bomb now in this sarane. So the day after the strange trip to the mines, Morgan was standing outside of another mansion's rusty gate, holding a backpack with a surprisingly quickly growing sarane hatchling in it, as well as a small picnic basket full of cooked food. There was a plastic bag that was filled with uncooked chicken wings for the sarane hatchling that was clicked to the backpack, and already the tiny creature was trying to get it. Ah, well. Morgan didn't expect to find anything while they were here. That was what most people went here for, right?
Needless to say, Morgan was here mostly to work with this horrible ticking time bomb in an area that it could hopefully not hurt anything else. Morgan had found out at the house the day before that the creature was acidic-ally aligned. That was in one word; terrible. Morgan hated germs, and acid-aligned creatures were definitely horrible for that kind of thing. Morgan got sick quite easily, and hoped that spending more 'time' with the creature would kick start the psycho-social effect that labs creatures tended to have that would protect Morgan from being attacked in the future. As of right now, it wasn't terribly vicious with them thus far, but that wasn't going to be forever. Morgan had never planned to take home a sarane EVER because they were far more trouble than they were worth; they killed so many people every year in those horrific breakings... Morgan was going to have to do that now.
Morgan opened up the gate quietly, hearing that horrible squeak that came with a mansion gate that was not properly cared for. Say, who would just abandon a mansion like this anyway? This place could be a home for many people or pets, and instead it was just some spooky old horrible place that people would visit for a day but never stay a night at. The kids in the area would dare each other to come here for a certain amount of time as a prank. Morgan shook their head, and instead pushed Waar back down into the backpack so that the sarane chick wouldn't try to get at the chicken wings again. "Oi, you stay down now." Morgan said. "You'll get them when you get them." Morgan sneered for a moment, feeling a bit too much like someone's parent for their liking at the moment. "Get your ass down." Morgan practically snarled, pushing the creature back down again.
The bespectacled human talked like a sailor on a regular basis, and never claimed to be particularly nice tongued. However, Morgan was really just trying to keep the creature from getting into the plastic. It would be an absolute pain to get a healer to fix this creature's stomach if the darn thing ate the bag! Morgan shook their head, chuckling softly, and then made the trek into the yard. Nothing too interesting seemed to be going on yet; perhaps the grass was a little greener over here than on the other side, but hey, it could be chocked down to fake grass or just a different kind of grass than was on the other side. That wouldn't be too odd. It wasn't that Morgan didn't believe in magic or anything like that, it was more that Morgan was simply difficult to impress when it came to this kind of thing. Go spectacular or go home.
The tiny creature was definitely impatient, but it did not take long for the blond human to find a suitable hillock and sit their hind end on the ground, keeping the labcoat up off of the ground by sitting on a rock instead. How quaint. Morgan then unceremoniously picked up the backpack, pulled the bag of uncooked chicken wings off of the clip, and then sat them down on the ground still in the bag. Then, the backpack was dumped fairly unceremoniously on the ground, dropping the tiny black and mottled sarane chick onto the ground. The creature rolled with a chirrup, and then made a slightly sickly hiss at Morgan, threateningly. Morgan waved it off, knowing that regardless of how well it was treated now, the creature would attack them in the future anyway. That was just the way that sarane chicks were; they had to be chased away from the nest or they would try to take over.
Morgan had no idea how much time they really needed to spend on the creature before it grew up. However, this little creature was growing up at an alarming rate. Sure, it was still a newborn hatchling, just yesterday having crawled out of the egg to today, having horns already growing. The little creature was a dang spitfire too, while not literally spitting fire, it was absolutely a wreck, racing around the house at breakneck speeds and absolutely chewing on things that Morgan did not want chewed on. A makeshift playpen was constructed in quick order, keeping it away from anything even remotely edible, or edible in the mind of such a horrid creature. Morgan was... Not finding it prudent (it wasn't that Morgan was quite soft hearted, nope) to throw the wretched thing out in the yard and just leave it for hours upon end. Still, Morgan was not used to dealing with such a horrendous creature.
Morgan's creatures tended to stay in the vivarium, after all, but they also knew that the strange chick would get absolutely murdered by some of the other creatures that were just living in those vivariums. So Morgan of course did not want to have to deal with actually getting the creature brought to a healer if it was dead, so they just kept the thing in a playpen, and that was that. It was a bit easier to keep it clean, and since the sides were made of tough material, the creature could chew and get it's little teeth all in without actually causing any damage or getting anything chewed of into it's little throat. Morgan had been quite pleased with that outcome, and it made it so much easier to collect him this morning whenever it was time to go out for this little 'bonding excursion'. The bespectacled human hardly had the time of day to do this, but it was important, of course.
Well, rather important for the future anyway. Rumor has it that if the sarane 'liked you' enough when it was tiny, it would try not to kill you as much as an adult. Morgan somehow highly doubted this much, but there were going to be some issues now. One of those was that Morgan was going to have to waste time learning how to ride a drake somehow, and then waste more time figuring out how to find some breaking gear for the dang thing. It was just a nightmare, and a nightmare due to what was essentially an impulse buy from hell. Morgan had known that this was a bad idea, but they'd been feeling a bit under the weather since the chaos node swallowing; and by under the weather, Morgan would most certainly mean impulsive and sleepless. It was really not a good combination to be under, especially not when a dragon (when you LOVE dragons) hatches for you.
Morgan could not deny the look of sheer surprise on the merchant's face whenever the egg had actually hatched after telling Morgan that the egg was probably a dud and trying to hawk it on Morgan anyway. Morgan had recoiled at first from the grubby hand, claiming that this egg was laid by a hen sired by the great Ghidorah, and that the egg's own sire had been a drake by the name of Vidarr. A great pit champion; a very scary creature indeed. Morgan had no idea how this strange individual had wound up with such an egg; even the duds were carefully kept away from the general public. Probably to keep them from being hawked to unknowing individuals that would not understand that it was indeed, a dud. However, when Morgan had humored the man and went to touch the egg; boom. Waar hatched. Morgan couldn't just turn that down, right?
Waar would probably be more trouble than he was worth later on, but Morgan wanted to try this at least. Especially since it would be irresponsible for them to get rid of the creature now that it was at least somewhat used to them... The mansion was a bit boring today, at least on the grounds, and Morgan was really doubting that there was anything really special about this place at least. However, it was nice, the sun was warm but not too hot, and the breeze was quite nice too. The as of yet tiny black sarane was toddling around on the grass and nipping at bugs... Morgan was holding the bag of chicken wings to keep the creature from getting it stuck in their gullet, of course. Morgan pulled a single glove out of their pocket and then put in on their hand. Then, they opened the bag, and pulled a chicken wing out using the glove. Immediately, Waar was all eyes.
Morgan had wanted to use today as a kind of calm retreat day before starting the hard part of this entire endeavor. Morgan wanted to train the sarane a few key things before getting it to adult; mostly things like tolerating having it's body moved around and such, and perhaps to tack up, because it was important for the animal to know these things before it got huge enough to properly kill Morgan. It was hard to believe that the little beast stumbling around on the grass right now could do that, but it could someday. Morgan didn't want to train it anything that it could possibly use against them during the fight. Morgan had read the papers and heard about almost every breaking that ever went down; and several people were killed because a creature knew something they had taught it as a baby. That was just horrendous. In fact, wasn't there one dumb individual that had given their creature a flaming body somehow before it had been broken? The idea of riding a flaming creature was just not tolerable at all.
Morgan had no idea how some of the absolutely ridiculous people around here managed to live the way that they did. However, Morgan was not about to be that dummy, and somehow find a way to screw up this breaking any more than it was already going to be. By Morgan's calculations due to the information available about old pit fights, this creature's father was one of those with some pretty dang big antlers, so that meant that this little monster was going to be an absolute hell on wheels nightmare monster when it grew up. Just great, wonderful. That was certainly not something that Morgan was ready to deal with; let alone with it being on fire or something stupid like that. This creature could easily spin off Morgan in the future and then just claw them down. However, as of right now, the beastie was just rolling around in the grass on it's back. It totally wasn't adorable or anything.
Morgan watched that for a moment, finding it adorable if not a bit annoying, because Morgan did not absolutely think like that at all. Morgan shook their head, and then took the chicken piece and tossed it to the sarane, not on it or anything, but around it so that it would notice. And notice Waar did. True to form, the creature leaped up from the otherwise adorable position it was in rolling around on it's back and then made a soft and happy noise, almost like a chuff before it ran off to grab the chicken piece. Morgan looked at it, and willed theirself not to feel anything about it. Just because the tiny creature was beginning to show displays of the pscho-social effect did not mean that Morgan had to as well. Morgan was a human of course and was not created by the labs; of course. That meant that Morgan could control theirself. A lab creature could not do so.
The labs creatures would never truly be able to change their fates of course. They were to be owned by people at all times, they were made to have that psycho-social effect that would make them like their owners after a variable amount of time. Make them. Force them. They were made for people. Morgan could never really get that out of their head; they weren't really born, not like normal beings. Morgan tried to keep their heart out of it when it came to things like the creatures from the Labs, but it was sometimes impossible to keep separate from such things entirely. Waar was... Cute. Waar was sweet. The name had been chosen, it was a double entendre of a name and it was chosen for it specifically. Waar meant truth, but it also sounded like 'War'. What a good name for a son of two practiced fighting lines? Morgan had thought it worked out well enough. But the truth was, that it was made for humanoid enjoyment. Morgan didn't really like knowing that.
