Morgan was getting really tired of this 'nothing being there when they looked back' thing. It was certainly more trouble than it was worth, that was for sure, but Morgan was anything if not stubborn. They pushed on, leading the dragonoak with them and trying to get to that mansion. Every now and again Morgan felt like they heard a noise, but they weren't quite able to figure out what it was. It sounded far off, and kind of garbled? The human was puzzling theirself over it, but not looking behind them at the moment. The dragonoak wasn't reacting to it for now anyway, so it was probably fake noises there to try to give Morgan the spook. However, something changed. The next noise that Morgan heard behind them the dragonoak DID react to it, turning around anxiously. Morgan turned as well, and this time they saw something, standing tall, back there.

Morgan was unsure what to think of the large looming figure there. It was black against the bright sky, and it took a moment for Morgan to realize that not only should it NOT be there, but also that it was certainly BIG if that was the correct size. Of course, that didn't necessarily have to mean that it was the correct size, seeing as the mansion was oddly twisted this month, but it was still concerning. It appeared to be fast? The dragonoak was concerned too, staring whatever it was down. After a moment or two, the creature had crossed nearly half of the distance, and Morgan realize that it looked somewhat like a bird? But it was a TALL bird at that. The human wasn't sure if they wanted to wait up to find out, so they turned around and gently tried to lead the dragonoak, still standing stiff, to the mansion itself.

The dragonoak refused to move until Morgan guided it away using not just the lead but their hand to try to back up with it's head in their palm. "Come on-" They said, softly. "We need to get into the mansion-" It occurred to them just as they felt a stuttering fit start up (they tried to stop speaking to try to get them to pass) that the mansion may not be very safe all things considered. But it was either the danger they could see or the imagined danger, and perhaps the imagined danger would not be as bad as a too-tall bird monster that was making... Giggly noises? The human wasn't quite able to get the dragonoak back fast enough to beat the creature's pursuit of them into the mansion itself. Morgan and the dragonoak stood on the porch, and the creature stepped up, staring creepily back at them.

The creature was BIG. Bigger than any bird Morgan had seen up to this point. It looked like those pictures of turkeys that they saw in the biology books, but that was the thing- turkeys weren't something that frequented these parts, and the Labs had nothing relaly like them, unless one was really drunk and actually looking at a COD. The human tried to back away, but the Turkey-thing stepped forward. The dragonoak lowered it's head, and made a noise- that strange one that at times they were willing to do. Morgan had heard Muninn make that noise one time before, when Muninn was being protective of his home. How interesting, Morgan thought- this dragonoak was beginning to like them just a tad. It was quicker with customs, Morgan had read in the manuals. The Turkey-thing made a strange garbled gurgling laugh, and the human felt more awkward than anything else.
Then it exploded into confetti; like the animal had never existed in the first place.

Being chased by an animal up to the front porch of a strange building in the middle of what had to be some sort of horrible sci-fi space-time anomaly was certainly not the first thing that Morgan would have decided to do had they actually the decision-making skills that could trump that of simply wishing to figure out such a perplexing place. It had become their hobby quite a very long time ago, and had sort of taken over their life a bit. What would they do in the future, when and if they did figure out the eccentricities of the eccentric's mansion? Would they have to find another hobby? The idea was a little scary. There were only a few other things that were available to the labs-city denizen looking for some fun. Sure, most people would balk at exploding animals into confetti, but Morgan wasn't keen on going underground. The Dragonoak was staring nervously though, so Morgan gave her a good pat on the nose to try to calm her.

It had admittedly been a few months since Morgan had found a creature, perhaps possibly because they had not been looking for them. The Mansion was strange like that, often times making rather odd changes depending on the mental state from what Morgan had been able to surmise to this point. However, they were not surprised to see yet another creature there, suddenly, where the turkey-like thing had exploded into confetti from. Had... This creature caused that? Was this creature even real? There was only one real way to find out. Almost every creature that Morgan had seen here at the mansion seemed hungry for some reason, and Morgan usually brought some kind of food with them. Making sure that Meteora was behind Morgan so that the strange creature wouldn't get frightened off by the knee-high pseudo-dragon, Morgan stayed still as they grabbed a baggie of food from their pocket.
The creature looked less frightening than the turkey-thing, at least. "Hello there-" Morgan said, quietly, while also opening the little plastic baggie quietly, and removing a bit of food.

The creature looks at you curiously, tilting its head. Then it tilts its head further, and further, and further... does this thing even have any bones? It didn't seem likely, even as its head snapped back into its original position. The creature seems interested in what you're doing at least though, its glowing eyes trained on the baggie and its sniffing nose puffing out little bursts of colorful vapor as it tries to pick up the scent of whatever it is you're getting out.

"What... the... Hell...?" Morgan whispered, softly, trying not to let the concern in their voice drive the creature off. The creature was practically twisting it's own neck off, there was no way... Just, what? They felt the Dragonoak behind them take two steps back, and then another two, pulling the line taut, but not running, not yet. It occurred to Morgan that perhaps the creature's... Smoke stuff, that they just now noticed, might be dangerous or perhaps hallucinogenic. It would make sense, the mansion this month was absolutely ridiculous. They made sure to stick their feet in place and not move save for incrementally to slowly edge the food to the creature. It was almost like a dog, but not quite, or perhaps a little like a dragon with all of those teeth, but no, that couldn't be quite right?
The human offered the food now that the creature's head was uh, back where it was supposed to be. "You uh, y-y-eah, that's cool an' all... Uh, you hungry?"

The creature looked at Morgan and tilted its head again (thankfully to a less extreme angle this time.) Then it began creeping forward, its movements sinuous and exaggerated in an almost cartoonish fashion, getting closer and closer to Morgan. It seemed to notice Meteora though, and slowed its pace, looking between the human and the dragonoak as if to confirm that it was safe.

Morgan may not be the best at people, but they were pretty decent at figuring animals out. Maybe it was the whole 'growing up as a sickly kid' thing, since their pops was pretty keen on trying to keep Morgan indoors for their early childhood, or maybe it was the realizing that being a little more moneyed than the general populace tended to cause friendships to be a little difficult. However, Morgan had learned facial expressions common to most mammal-like and even dragon-like faces pretty quick. The creature seemed to be looking between them, and Meteora.
They almost laughed, but managed to stifle it, realizing very quickly that it might frighten the creature off. After stifling that chuckle, Morgan bobbed their hand, emphasizing the food again. "D-Don't worry about Meteora. She's kinda scared of ya, looks like." The cartoony movements went a long way to getting Morgan to feel a little more at ease, even though most people with common sense wouldn't bait such a dangerous looking beast in such a weird place.

The creature crept forward, slowly but surely... and finally snapped the food out of Morgan's hand, its neck stretching forward to grab it. It didn't know what this new intruder on its home was... but it didn't seem all that bad. Fun even! It chewed thoughtfully, watching Morgan. It'd have to stick around- this person seemed interesting.
((You have tamed the creature!))

Morgan was pretty nervous at the snap, quickly jerking back to make sure that their hand was still attached to their body. After figuring out that yes, their hand was still there, they breathed out a sigh of relief. The creature seemed fairly keen on coming with them, and Morgan was stoked to try to figure it out. It was a weird beast. They didn't seem to be hallucinating even though some of that gaseous stuff had been around them just a bit ago, so it was a little shocking to Morgan to find out that they had no idea what it was made out of or what kind of properties it had.
Still, the creature looked very smart, and it would be a little odd to do too much experimenting on a creature of such possible witt. So Morgan decides to take the dragonoak and the... Thing. Home for the day, and return at a later date, perhaps with the dragonoak again.

Morgan was back, trekking through the first 'outer' lawn of the Mansion onto the grounds with their dragonoak. For the second time this month, probably not the last either. The human was quietly picking their way over the grass, which was now in full-blown spring-mode, grown up raggedly on all areas. There was patches of clover everywhere, complete with thick little white clover-heads, little bees flitting from one of them to the other. Reminded Morgan of the garden, they probably needed to go back at some point and spend some time with all of the other beasties in there. The dragonaok seemed to doing quite fine, if she was jarred from last time she was not showing it. Meteora did a whole lot of 'not showing it'. Perhaps she really was quite oblivious, or perhaps she was just one of those 'not showing anyone anything'. Morgan hoped that it was a good sign.
