Morgan hoped that this little picnic of sorts would work out well for them, in the long run. Morgan knew intimately how creatures were built by the Labs to be used by humans, and as a child Morgan would get righteously indignant about such things, even as their father would sigh and attempt to teach. The first time Morgan had attempted to argue vehemently about this aspect of Labs-City life, their father had gotten very quiet, and asked to be excused from the dinner table for his shower without giving Morgan an answer, as if they had not expected this to be an issue. However, Morgan had eventually gotten him riled up to answer the questions later on, and after a while, Morgan took it as the word of law of life, and had stopped arguing about it. Morgan still hated it, though. Waar chewing cutely on the uncooked chicken wing really made Morgan feel a bit of sorrow...

Morgan legitimately had no idea why sarane were the way that they were. Made to be vicious, made to be aggressive, horrific pit fighters, except for the hens. Supposedly the hens were perfect for companions, but Morgan had a run in with a wild hen in the mining caves; and those things were no. flipping. joke. It could have killed Morgan in a quick burst, Morgan was sure, if it weren't for the... Magical hiccup... Then the hen could have and would have killed them. It was super exciting, really. Morgan hadn't had such a thrill ever, never mind the fact that it made them throw up right afterward or whatever. The concerning part was that Morgan hadn't really felt anything when the danger had occurred... Now that was a worrying thought. Morgan would have to consider what all of that meant eventually, but right now... Right now the world felt good, and the tiny sarane chick was pretty dang cute.

It was a bit sad in general that some day the tiny whelp that was tearing up the Mansion's grass lawn in tiny pointless increments would someday grow out of this cute phase and be an absolute nightmare to deal with... Morgan knew that it was absolutely tantamount to get this creature to like them before all of that happened, and then maybe teach them a few things to make them easier to work with in the future during the... process. Morgan had originally told themself 'for science' when it came to this creature, but was it really fair to say that now? Morgan was sure that their father would be absolutely irate at the idea that Morgan had picked up this creature entirely for science, and he was a scientist. Morgan just aspired to have that job, even though they didn't know what the Labs typically did with their scientists... And what happened to their father because of it.

Morgan stopped for a moment, another uncooked chicken wing in their hand, and the sarane Waar staring at it with it's little dragon-y mouth wide open, shrieking for it, and Morgan considered for a moment the circumstances of their father's presumed death. Their Father had left home with all of his creatures that morning, his beloved Seryn and even his carefully trained malii. Morgan thought about that for a moment; usually the malii stayed at home after all. Had their father been expecting something? Surely Morgan wouldn't be abandoned, so it had to be that. Morgan's father had never given any indication that he had been angry or frustrated with being a father, in fact it was anything but; they had just made plans after all. So was Morgan's father taking the malii along for protection that day? Where was the malii now? Where was their father's beloved seryn? Morgan frowned, holding the chicken wing up tantalizingly over the creature's little head.

Morgan dropped the chicken wing over by the creature, watching the creature blink it's amber eyes and excitedly run over to the chicken wing fairly good-naturally and with it's tongue hanging out. That was actually pretty cute. The tiny beast attacked the chicken wing with vigor, already strong enough to crack the uncooked bones, shaking his head back and forth to really teach it who was who. Morgan was still a bit under the weather feeling, but this was important. This sunny day, on the mansion lawn with the tiny sarane could really give Morgan the extra edge against the baby monster (but monster all the same) whenever it become not so little any more, that may just save their life in the future. Morgan had to hold on to that, even though they really felt just like going into the house and sleeping under the covers all day. It was like a cloud had just passed over the sun, if only just in Morgan's head.

That was the way it was, living life like Morgan did. Ever since they were small they had showed symptoms of this, whatever it was. Morgan's father had seemed increasingly worried about it, and now Morgan was left alone to deal with the aftermath of everything and this emotional problem all by theirself. Morgan had never really quite caught on what was causing the mood swings, but it seemed to be some kind of glitch in their system, which was not something Morgan felt comfortable with thinking about as someone who valued science. Humans were robots, nerves were wires and electrical impulses traveled them, thoughts were based on this, and hormones helped control the air-conditioning of the body's reactions and all of that. All of that gobbledy-gook meant that this had to be some kind of a hormonal issue, and Morgan just left it at that. There was no need to devote time to it, and instead Morgan tried to ignore it in favor of the REAL issues. Like this tiny sarane; that would someday be not so tiny. Ticking Time Bomb and all of that.

Morgan knew that after today, they would have to have a game plan. Because Waar would not stay young forever, and the better bloodlines of these sarane had the faster they tended to grow up, so it was possible that they did not have a whole lot of time left to consider the problem. The bespectacled human pulled another checked wing from the bag that they had brought, and held it up above Waar. The sarane reached up on it's hind legs just momentarily, really flapping those wings; but it was quite off balance and fell back down on it's hind end, flapping the whole way down quite ineffectually. The bespectacled human mostly ignored this, and dropped the chicken wing to where Waar could get to it nearby. Morgan glanced away while it devoured the uncooked chicken wing in the same way that it had been doing with the last few, shaking his head back and forth. Morgan could hear it shaking and drooling, but was trying not to get too attached for now. It was going to be a vicious monster someday.

Morgan had not realized what had happened before it did. Morgan was sitting there with the uncooked chicken pieces wondering why they had to feel bad some days when it was nice outside and felt good on the body, but just felt like cold bitter winter in their head, when suddenly the bespectacled human thought that they had seen something out of the peripheral vision. Morgan turned their head naturally to try to track the motion, neon green eyes flashing a bright color as they did. There was something out there for sure; but the human just had not quite noticed it quite so well. Morgan was paying more attention to that for now, and doesn't quite notice the sarane until the creature had bumped it's little horn nubs on Morgan's leg a bit hard. Morgan looked down, and shook their head quietly. "Waar, no." But it was so cute! Strange shadowy things forgotten.

Morgan didn't really pay attention to anything around them as they went to get another chicken piece for Waar, who of course didn't really understand the whole no thing, he was really young after all. He had just hatched yesterday. It was really shocking that these animals grew up the way they did, so fast and all. Morgan hoped that it wouldn't be fully grown by the end of the month, but the chances of that happening that late were a bit slim. Morgan knew that they would need to get a hold of the pit to schedule a time slot for it, and Morgan also had heard on the radio that there was going to be a tournament soon, so time was really closing in too. Morgan knew that if they did not make the time limit, that they were running a chance of Waar being dangerous for much, much longer.

Waar was still a ticking time bomb, even if it was wiggly and cute, enjoying rolling around in the grace and trying to reach up to get the chicken wings. They were a bit slimy and of course probably dangerous for human consumption in their current state of uncookedness, so Morgan was very careful to only touch them with the hand of the glove. Morgan held gingerly, a bit grossed out still, but Waar needed as close to a natural diet as possible. Morgan was very dedicated to make sure the creatures were going to have the closest possible to a natural diet. So Waar was already getting a good mix of small types of meats with bones intact that were not cooked, because the idea was that the tiny sarane would probably eat whatever it could catch in the wild. Not that a creature like this would be common in the wild, Morgan was sure.

Morgan threw another chicken piece to the sarane chick, and watched it with extreme curiosity as it ate it's food. It would seem that the sarane would make a shearing motion while eating and then would choke the food back in chunks. That made a lot of sense, as the creature crunched into the thin and easily crunched bones to get the marrow and such all ready to be digested. Morgan wished they had brought one of their journals to write in about this discovery. Morgan was distracted by this when suddenly a loud noise screeched by them; out in the yard that Morgan had sat in to have this 'picnic' with the tiny creature. Morgan immediately jerked around, spilling the bag of the small amount of uncooked chicken wings that were left all over the grass where the sarane could have had a hey-day if not for the fact that it was looking for the source of the noise, too.

Well, things were beginning to get weird. Morgan had heard of course that the Mansion had crazy stuff like this going on all the time, but they hadn't really seen anything weird other than the strange weather changes throughout the year. Now this strange noises were certainly different. Morgan stood up, hopping to their feet a little bit faster than most would probably be able to; and then twisted around to look for whatever it was. During this moment of course, the Sarane was looking quite bristly, almost like a furless cat, at a specific direction. When Morgan followed the creature's eyes to where the source of what it was looking at was, Morgan could also see it as well, it was some kind of a shadow thing? They appeared to have some kind of toothy grin; and was that another one? Morgan stared at them, more curious than anything else of course, while the sarane was making a wimpy growl.

Morgan was not planning on staying here for a super long time today; there were other things that needed to be done today than spend time with the sarane chick. In fact, Morgan had more important things to do as well, but the sarane chick was a priority for a little while until things were down pat. Morgan wanted to make sure that this time bomb blew up in the most favorable way. However, Morgan was indeed curious enough about these shadow things that screeched to try to commit everything possible into their memory about them. Morgan would have to write this down later; and perhaps at some other point Morgan could lay out a time period to do some experiments about the area. Now that there was proof of strange changes in the area. Morgan bends down and scoops up the sarane chick, which immediately grabbed as many of the chicken wings as it could fit in its mouth, and took off after the shadow things.
