Please note... - The last date to post your introduction post is the 23rd of May. Without an introduction post you cannot battle. - Certain moves can't be used in the Pit because of the surroundings and other moves can affect more than one creature at the same time. After all introduction posts have been posted you will be informed whether those two apply to any of your creatures' moves. - That you have 3 days to post a response to a calculation post and/or roleplay post. The 3 day deadline is not extended if your foe posts after a calculation post. Not meeting the deadline results in an automatic disqualification. - That characters level once every 20 posts in the Fighting Pit, but pets gain levels and loyalty towards their owners normally.

Riku’s hand shook slightly as he walked his large Malii into the arena. He had been here before to watch the blood-bath of Sarane Tournaments...This one would surely be different. His memory flashed back to the flier first he saw for the event. “This is a Free-For-All, so anything is welcome.” What did that even mean? He pictured giant Wiurn and Thundergug crushing his baby girl in just one physical hit. “Since when am I a baby?” Scarlet sneered, mildly annoyed but understanding. Riku surely was no Malii, but he was her father-figure. More so than her much-too-comfortable biological parents back at the Sanctuary. Riku laughed into a sigh. “What did I say about thought-leeching?” He scruffed the fur on the back of her head as they walked up to where they were told to sign in. “What now? Do we just wait...?” “You’ve been here before, not me.” She said with a tinge of jealousy. Mostly, she was excited to be here. She had trained enough, she felt, to have earned the right. Being a natural powerhouse, Riku had trained her into a mini-warrior - and yet she only knew part of her potential. Riku signed whatever last minute waivers they needed and went in. Deep breaths...

To be back in the proverbial saddle so soon after her stabbing was a rougher ride for the sphinx than she imagined, but there was something paradoxically comforting in being within a battle setting that had, you know, actual rules. No-one to suddenly side-line you in the hallway with a dagger or an axe or a randomly flung spell, which was definitely not something that had been shadowing her brain for the past week after. At least, that's what she told herself. The thought-bound trio wer not quite so convinced, and suggested she work through that in a safer setting.
Such as the Fighting Pit, where the blood was no less real than in the wild, but at least it was monitored blood. Needless to say, the sphinx had not been impressed with the suggestion, but if even Detritus stepped up to volunteer for it, it was difficult to ignore. It had been just one of those little signs the trio were Serious, and when the trio end up Agreeing, that's when you knew to listen.
They arrived only slightly after the opposing pair, the sphinx walking up into the trainer's stand on the arena edge, while the great doors below creaked slowly open to admit the tat-lung. No sooner had Detritus entered fully that the motion of the doors reversed and they closed up behind him with a soft thud. He was nervous, the mammalian could feel it, but he was also trying to be brave for her sake. While it was absolutely heart-warming, there was no escaping the reality of the situation that Det was going to get hurt or worse during this whole thing, and he needed her calm as much as she his if they were to keep that instability in him in check.
Spirits knew, they did not need a repeat of the node aftermath.

Notes:
-Scarlet can use all moves and abilities she knows.
-Detritus cannot use Swim due to there not being any water to swim in.

Her thoughts were so wrapped up in everything surrounding the battle and the potential futures ahead that she nearly missed aspects of the battle itself, aspects which stood right in front of her in the there and now. Blinking, as if waking from some daydream, her eyes looked across the arena to the opposing stand, mind finally acknowledging the factor that they were not alone. When her gaze shifted downwards into the pit itself, she couldn't help but give an ever so slight curious cock of the head. Now there was something you didn't see in the Fighting Pit every day - a malii! Quite a magnificent one at that, with some genetic engineering at work no doubt to produce those brilliant wings. Darky couldn't recall ever combating a malii before, so this fight was going to be interesting to observe.
In that same vein, she couldn't quite place the face of the owner either. At least, in her own mind. After a second of concentration, there was a quick scouring of Sha'Nepti's forwarded memories and a vague blip of recognition occurred - something about a brown and Achrann, no doubt during one of the other sarane tournaments. Further down that thought-line there was something about a salaves, the Temple and a whole lot of conflict quietly brewing, but beyond that this was as fresh of a start as could be between them.
Should we.. begin? came a sudden, familiar yet not-own thought into her mind, Det peering up from below and Darky straightened. Oh, right, yes, the battle. She held up her hand in a wave, smiling as she called across, "I wish you a good battle to come!" Then down to Det, A malii is a first, let's see what they're made of.
When everyone was settle and ready, she called out, "Det, bahrasut!"
The tat-lung braced himself, taking up a more combat-ready stance even if he himself didn't exactly exude 'warrior' in his demeanour, his jaws parted slightly, yellowish flashes of needle-thin light danced between the jaws for a moment, before they parted in full to send out a bolt of electricity at the foe.
( Detritus uses Ker-zaap! )

His hand began to shake even more as he stood in the stands. He cupped one over the other to try to hide it from his companion in the pit. He hadn’t really thought things through, he now realized. He trained her, and had witnessed the battled before as a form of study within the Sarane tournaments....but that was completely different. He had a wild, untamed dragon do all the fighting and decision making by itself. This time he was the one who had to call the shots, and his precious child’s safety was on the line.
What had he gotten himself into!?
The call from across the trainer stands broke his anxiety attack....he didn’t even bother making eye contact, in his nerves, so he didn’t notice if he had ever seen them before or not. Nor did he even think to respond. Now his attention was fixated on the opponent....a...Tat-lung? Maybe? He had never seen one before, but the general description mostly fit how he had always imagined one. He didn’t know those colors were common - but maybe they weren’t.
“Okay....weaknesses?” He sent through the ribbon.
“Ugh....I don’t know. Should I just hit him with some sunlight?” Scarlet replied with a bit of sass to hide that she was a lot less prepared for this as well. What even was this thing!? Its long body and teeth were not what she was expecting. Why couldn’t they have started out with a shiku or something easier...?
“Oh, Gods, no! That won’t even scratch that thing, probably.” He said, flipping through her list of trained commands in his mind. How could it seem suddenly so short when they had felt so accomplished before!?
He heard the command of the opponent out loud and didn’t understand what was said. ‘Wait, are we supposed to say those out loud...!?’ He thought to himself. He wasn’t going to risk giving away their already limited secrets.
Seeing the Tat-lung’s mouth open and start to glow, he began to panic then loudly yelled “Um, shit! FLY!!!” Then covered his mouth in embarrassment.
His hands were shaking even more, which made it difficult for him to keep them up.
(Scarlet uses Fly)
