Please note...- The last date to post your introduction post is June 5th. Without an introduction post you cannot battle. - Certain moves can't be used in the Pit because of the surroundings and other moves can affect more than one creature at the same time. After all introduction posts have been posted you will be informed whether those two apply to any of your creatures' moves. - That you have 3 days to post a response to a calculation post and/or roleplay post. The 3 day deadline is not extended if your foe posts after a calculation post. Not meeting the deadline results in an automatic disqualification. - That characters level once every 20 posts in the Fighting Pit, but pets gain levels and loyalty towards their owners normally.

Yes *Special!* Chosen extra move *Special! *: Maul (4) Amelia had rushed down to the pit as soon as she was given the okay, and held the heavy head of the Thundergug in her lap. Eventually, Sandy stirred awake and licked the mammalian's tears from her eyes. They had cured the poison and quickly mended the 'gug in multiple other ways. It didn't take long for Sandy to be in tip top shape, and the duo were allowed a few days to mend and relax before the next battle. Sandy was an incredibly physical powerhouse, but if their opponents were able to get around that it wouldn't be hard for their foes to reign victorious. Luckily, Sandy and Amelia weren't too upset if they did lose. So what? They weren't in it to win, they were in it to enjoy themselves. Sandy didn't have any lasting effects from the last battle, and they were ready to try their hardest and see how the cards fell for them. They were the first ones here, which happened occasionally. Amelia kissed the forehead of the Thundergug, who nuzzled her warmly. Thundergugs weren't typically loving creatures, but the mammalian and the 'gug had an inseparable bond unlike any other. Sandy was Amelia's best friend, and she was excited for this adventure they were partaking in. After a few moments, the mammalian left the Thundergug in the arena by herself, and made her way up to the viewing area. She sat comfortably in one of the chairs, watching her best friend putz around contently. Remember, we're going to try our best. And whatever happens, happens. No reason to worry if we don't win. Hopefully we don't have to worry about poison again...It's going to be great. Who knows, maybe it'll be a quick fight?(Ready) 11

The last fight had not quite gone as either of them expected. The opponent was new and who knew what tricks a malii would have up their sleeves, but at the very least both had expected it to dodge the first attack. Turned out.. not so much.. When Det let loose the spark and the malii collapsed, it took him a good ten seconds or just staring before he looked between sphinx and opponent, unsure as to what to do then. Quite frankly, Darky wasn't exactly wiser, too surprised to get anything out really, and by the time the medics rushed in and everything was sorted, it seemed a little too late to say anything then.
They could only hope their opponent wouldn't end up discouraged by the battle and keep training. The sphinx rather wanted to see to what lengths a malii could be taken in the arena - it wouldn't be the first time an unconventional species would be successful.
A topic she'd quickly see the flip side of, as the two made their entrance into the arena behind their opponents. Darky appeared first, coming from the trainers' hallway to take her place in the stands, the creak of the doors below allowing Det to walk in some moments later. When the both of them beheld the opponents, there was a specific kind of apprehension - thundergugs were no light business, quite literally. Formidable battle opponents due to their toughness, but well-trained ones even more so. Not even tat-lung could count themselves all that safe around them, as Mear had discovered once.
They'll need to be on their toes for this one.
Before anything else, however, the sphinx simply waved across at the other trainer, a pleasant, "Good day and have a good battle!" as she was want to do.

The skies above were slightly overcast, a deeper rumble coming from some far-off corner of the City. Det did a small pace-dance in the sands, one foot up, other down, other up, one down, trying to keep himself calm and focused. He could do this, he could do this, this was fine, just like that battle with the drake, right? The thundergug was about as big, bulkier certainly, but height-wise landed in the same general range. But probably five times as heavier and about three times as muscled.. No, no, just like the drake. That battle that he.. technically.. didn't exactly win..
How are you holding up there, buddy? Darky asked, once the greeting was done.
Fine, fine, this is fine, Det sent back, though she could tell through the empathic link things were definitely not 'fine'. He had hoped their battles would gradually work their way up in scale of foes. To go from malii to thundergug, neither creature types he'd ever faced, needed a lot more time to adjust than he had. And now, with the final call, the battle was about to begin. The sky rumbled overhead as the nervousness of the tat-lung grew, but Darky sent some of her calm to him.
You ready?
Sure, sure, Det continued to pace with a worried expression for a few seconds, then, a deep breath and he stopped, eyes slightly radiating light. The more he could discharge that inner energy, the better he would be.
"Det, thunder!"
The tat-lung closed his eyes, the sky grew darker and without further warning the air was split in two by sudden pressure, cascading outwards from the middle of the arena with an ear-splitting boom that shook stone and bone.

Amelia looked into the sky, hearing the same rumble that the opponent did. She didn't think it would storm in their time in the arena, but things could always change very fast. Especially if the foe had any special water or electricity powers, then she would probably find herself hiding under something. Of course, her thick pelt was rather water repellent but it certainly didn't mean anything exciting when it was pouring rain, she was still wet and unhappy. She smiled and waved at her Thundergug, who snorted and shook her head in retort. Amelia could see that the Thundergug meant well.
I feel really good now, since that last fight. I'm ready to do some damage.
Good. The opponent looks like it'll be quicker than us, but lets be real, are we surprised? The mammalian smiled, chuckling to herself. She loved her Thundergug, but they were not the most dexterous creatures out there. Especially when it came to the arena. I'm not really sure what this thing is. It looks a little like a Sarane, but I don't think it is. I guess we will see.
The Thundergug turned to the Tat-lung, ready to engage in a good battle. Of course, while her owner was thinking of something to do, the opponent was already doing things. The sky split, and a loud sound emerged. Sandy fell backwards, shaking her head with a growl. This would slow things down.

Darky lowered the hands from her ears, having held them tightly closed in preparation for the sudden thunderous noise. Even so, the noise was muffled only so much and a shock of displaced air still shuddered through her from head to toe. Their training together had given her a new kind of appreciation of thunderstorms, made her feel more at ease with them (for a flat expanse of featureless desert was a poor place to be the only upright object in touch with the ground) through understanding how it was they worked.
For the most part, at least. Lightning was a chaotic thing, and thus by its very nature, prone to refusing to be confined by conventions or norms.
The thunder rolled by and past within seconds, still echoing in dying repeats along the arena walls. The stewards might have made the first call for the battle to begin, but the battle's true signal of having started was usually the first howls, shrieks and roars of the creatures themselves. Like as not, they were in the thick of it now. The thundergug didn't need all too much studying, though Darky kept her eyes on that one still. They were popular Pit combatants and fighting creatures, many a tournament before had seen a few in all colours and capabilities but their main strength was their ability to take what could only be called a "vicious beating". It didn't help matters that they were mostly made up of muscles. Compared to that Detritus appeared like a slim noodle and could easily be crushed like one. Fighting a thundergug one-on-one on the ground was an incredibly unfavourable idea.
So, it was time to get off the ground. "Det, rasut!"
Oh, thank spirits, the tat-lung thought back in relief. He coiled like a spring, then pushed himself straight up into the air, arcane forces carrying him higher and higher into the skies as he snaked a distance between himself and the big, probably-very-annoyed-and-not-at-all-pleasantly-dispositioned-at-the-noise thundergug, before she had time to properly recover from said noise.

Not much happened right off the bat, which wasn't necessarily a bad thing. Sandy wasn't exactly incredibly fast however, so things could definitely fall out of their grasp very quickly. The mammalian watched carefully as the Thundergug regained her wits, and heard a command quickly towards the opponent. Again, they were falling behind. The Tat-lung was moving rather quickly, and it didn't take long before the slim creature was airborne. But it didn't have wings... how did it? The mammalian tried to hide her shock, and she turned to her Thundergug quickly, speaking through the ribbon.
Okay, so clearly this thing is different than we expected. Scare it a little, make some noise.
Sandy was excited to finally do something, even though her actions were usually a little bit different than most. She was a physical beast, and making loud noises and using her brute strength was right up her ally of expertise. Just because they weren't as agile did not mean they couldn't have a fair chance at this battle. The Thundergug growled loudly, and then began to stomp her feet aggressively. Yes, she would make some loud noises, some very loud noises. Amelia turned away, covering her ears with her paws. Of course, the Tat-lung couldn't exactly respond the same way.

The higher he climbed, the closer the clouds seemed and the safer he began to feel. The rumbles were no longer all that distant, so most other flying creatures would have felt a sense of apprehension. But to Detritus they were a source of comfort, of familiarity, something a part of himself. More importantly it put distance between him and the thundergug.. It didn't help matters that the agate had advised him to be careful, recounting his own fateful incident with one even in his flight. As much as he just wished to launch himself into the clouds, he couldn't go too high - they both still had to remain within the confines of the arena.
But he heard the sound behind him, that soft thump-thump-thump growing and escalating into a reverberating thudding all on its own. It was alright, he assured himself, the thundergug was far behind him, thundergugs can't fly - but the noise was closer, it was growing, gaining, coming, close! Close! HERE!
Darky could but watch with her own ears covered again as the tat-lung visibly flinched in the skies, recoiling as if something had tried to strike it. His nerves got the better of him, leaving him shaken and glancing behind and around him at where he thought the thundergug had been. She didn't have the heart to tell him it had been his own mind playing tricks, so instead she simply called out, Det! Hang in there! Don't forget your focus!

So the creature was in the air. This made it so much harder for them to do anything. Sandy could not fly (she was unfortunately just not born with wings,) and she lumbered along the ground, watching the creature in the air. Yes, the loud noises made this creature struggle at the moment, but the harder part was going to be for them to get an attack in. Occasionally the flying creature would lower enough for them to possibly hit it, but Sandy was terrified that she wasn't going to be able to do it. She just wasn't quick enough. She was too big, and not dexterous enough.
I think it'll take a miracle for me to hit this creature.
A miracle is what we will hope for then. Try Maul. Who knows, maybe you will get it.
Sandy radiated disbelief, and the emotional connection between the two made it impossible for Sandy to hide her feelings. She was expecting a miss, the creature was so fast, but it was too bad for her morale. She took a deep breath, then watched the creature as he curved around the sky. There! He was coming lower. She charged quickly, ready to strike with a combination of claws and teeth, hoping to leave the Tat-lung bleeding heavily.

Calculations
Due to Sandy's Roar from last turn, Detritus skips his turn (EDIT: Danger Sense is canceled and does not activate after a sound based move)
Sandy uses Maul A d10 was rolled; 10 was rolled Sandy will automatically hit due to the roll of 10 Maul's Damage of +3 added to Sandy's Strength of 10 13 damage - Detritus' Resistance of 6 Detritus takes 7 damage Detritus now has 1 Stamina
Detritus is now bleeding; he will take 1 point of damage every turn after this one.

Focus!
It was a mess, he was trying, but the mind was slipping.
Come on, Det! You can do it! Listen to my voice, follow it back!
The skies above rumbled closer, by now the storm was raging overhead and light could be seen flashing through cloud and arena. He was trying, still trying, but the arena rumbled from the thundergug's stamping and his head rumbled from the pounding in his ears. Deflect, dodge, be fast, stay away, the mind said. Stay put, gather yourself, stand your ground, the heart said. Neither side giving way and both warring against one another as Det snaked through the skies, hearing sounds and thinking them the enemy, only to bank in his flight and find nothing.
Until nothing found him.
It was a sense of pressure at first, as if something was pushing his ribs, before the wind got knocked out and the world sped up. He felt teeth on him, but they were dull and merely bruising. He felt claws scrape across his sides, and they tore away scales. And a jabbing, that he didn't really feel so much as sense. A wail of alarmed bells escaped him as he wrenched himself free from the thundergug and flew back up, skies flashing above and his side growing cold and hot at the same time. He glanced down, to the gaping hole in his side where the thundergug's horn had torn into and the crimson gushing out in cascades. He looked down to the other side, seeing the mammalian's alarmed face.
He knew this sensation. He knew she knew. The drake, the yield. The same. He was failing her, just like then. It sent a jolt through him that caused the hairs of his mane to rise up in crackling cascades. When his gaze looked down at the thundergug, the eyes were a-glow and the sky was angry.
I can fight.. he rumbled, a threatening note alien to himself. He looked up, static intensifying as the air became thick with gathering pressure. I can..
No!
He stopped, looking back down. The sphinx was staring up at him, but her alarm had switched to a resoluteness. She knew more than he realized, the sensations of his mind going in and out of sync with himself, the instability growing, but more importantly, of how he was fading and fading fast. There's nothing more to be done this time, Darky looked at him sadly. There's not enough time for it. You need to land.
I can.. fight.. the static-filled mind argued back, but even that was faltering between thoughts, fading fast.
Yes, you can. But we don't fight like this. Please, Det.. Just land. No matter what he could have conjured, it would not have been enough to stop the thundergug before the bleeding did its work. Of this, she'd had enough experience with Cathàn's work to know. And to harm a foe just for the principle of it was not their way. You've done enough, its time to rest now.
Light flickered in the tat-lung's eyes, his form slumping until finally he began to descend, hovering lower and lower until he touched the ground. There, Detritus stood a few more seconds before the light went out and he simply collapsed in the sands, a grand splotch of red already formed below him.
The tat-lung down, the skies fell suddenly quiet, the storm lifting.

Amelia was shocked Sandy had hit the target. It was a miracle, and it was a miracle unlikely to happen in their future battles. Amelia was sure Sandy would run around hitting nothing until the Tat-lung had taken her out, but the tides seemed to change in a good direction for them. Sandy was shocked as well, the opponents blood rushing down her face and claws. Blood dripped on the sandy ground, and she knew it did not belong to her. The Thundergug breathed heavily, impressed by herself but also feeling unsure about the opponent. When she was in battle mode, things were different. She was not a violent creature, and her only draw to the pit was knowing that very soon the pit crew would come in and heal the Tat-lung, and he would be capable of going into the skies once more very quickly.
The last battle had ended very poorly for them. Sandy had been poisoned by a venomous horse, and then struggled for the next few turns while the poison slowly ate away at her until she, like the Tat-lung, could no longer battle and collapsed into the ground. Amelia had taken that very hard, seeing her best friend in such a bad position. But the mammalian knew that it would not be long before Sandy was lying in the sand once more, bleeding from the damage that their next opponent would surely cause. This battle may have been victorious for them, but Amelia knew that the rest of the tournament was most likely going to have more battles like their first one.
I don't think I want to attack
No, you've done enough. Stay out of the way for the pit crew to come in, your opponent deserves quick and prompt treatment.
So Sandy did, she laid in the sand, leaning against the wall. She was below her best friend, and she watched the Tat-lung come down from the sky. He was weak, Sandy had done quite the number on him. That was the one thing Thundergug's did possess. Where they lacked in speed, they made up for in strength. She closed her eyes as the Tat-lung went down, and the muffled voices from outside the arena signalled medics were already on their way. This time it wasn't her, but the next battle she might be.
15 (Sandy gets out of the way)
