Please note...- The last date to post your introduction post is the June 5th. Without an introduction post you cannot battle. - Certain moves can't be used in the Pit because of the surroundings and other moves can affect more than one creature at the same time. After all introduction posts have been posted you will be informed whether those two apply to any of your creatures' moves. - That you have 3 days to post a response to a calculation post and/or roleplay post. The 3 day deadline is not extended if your foe posts after a calculation post. Not meeting the deadline results in an automatic disqualification. - That characters level once every 20 posts in the Fighting Pit, but pets gain levels and loyalty towards their owners normally.

Renathan was already worried sick yet again. This place was nerve wracking and horrible; and he could not believe that there were so many dang thundergugs. He had started scoping out the competition after his last battle, and he found out that there were THREE thundergugs, and that was horrific. Why? Renathan sort of wished he'd never entered; because he hated this crap. However, it had to be done, he wasn't going to bow out now. They had, against all odds, won their first battle. He was sure that they would probably lose all the rest, and he was not at all happy about it. Renathan led Shy Guy to the pit, feeling sick to his stomach. Shy Guy, on the other hand, was feeling fresh from the last battle's healing, and ready to go. They had no chance. However, Shy Guy was being strong for Renathan, across the emotional tie. Renathan leaves the stallion in the pit and then climbs up over the railing and into the stands. His stomach twisted in knots, but he waited. [Ready]

The last battle had been interesting, but fortunately not so much so that they hadn't been able to win. Still, it was a sign that other trainers were coming up with new tactics, which was what he had come to see.
Grunty was, as ever, inured to everything that was going on around him. He'd been here enough times that he knew where to go now, so Aster left him with little fanfare and went out to the stands to get a better look at what they were fighting.
As he took in the opponent, Aster arched a brow. An Equillion, but certainly not of a breed he had seen before. Likely an expensive, heavily modified creature from the labs. Heck, with things the way they were now, it might not have been an Equillion at all but a Galabex... Hard to say.
Well, it promised some excitement anyway, if nothing else.

- Grunty cannot use Dig as there is a thin layer of sand in the Pit
- Shy Guy cannot use Swim as there is no water in the arena

Renathan could see that this was a thundergug as well. Colored up like a panda, under other circumstances he would think it cute. However, this was as close to war as he'd ever gotten, and it was the enemy, for now anyway. Renathan knew that even hardly customized thundergugs were absolutely terrifying; the last one had nearly downed Shy Guy. However, he had a better understanding of Shy Guy's capabilities now, and was a little less afraid and more... Resigned. Renathan had put himself into this position, after all. Renathan put his fingers to his mouth as soon as the battle was called to start; and gave the whistled command for Screech. Any enemy they would come into the contact with in the pit that was worth their salt had a dodging-training that was rigorous. That had to be stopped. Shy Guy reared up on his hind legs, and made the most horrific screech that one could imagine coming out of anything, let alone an equillion; his mouth already beginning to foam in blue and pink acid-colors.

Of all the Thundergug's advantages as a fighter, speed was still not one of them, and Aster rather anticipated that Grunty would be spooked before he could really get moving. He'd been to pit fights enough that there was a familiar rhythm to them now, and he also knew there wasn't much he could do for Grunty on this front. For his own part, he managed not to wince, but it was never a pleasant ordeal even for him, this initial ruckus.
Steady, he said. Grunty didn't really need the reminder; it would just take him a moment to get his bearings. The opening that this left the opponent was inevitable, but there would be time to come back from that. Grunty wasn't fast, but Aster had never seen him go down in a single hit left. It was probably possible, but not all that common.
It was just the wait that was unpleasant.

Renathan knew that this had to go a certain way, or they could lose it all. There was so much that had to be done, but he had to take it bit and bit at a time. As soon as the stallion stopped emitting the screech; and even before his front legs had touched the ground from his rearing position; Renathan called out the command for Venomous Bite. It was a horrible whistling tone, one that would be hard for another to decipher; since most people used simple verbal commands, or RoT commands. The equillion, launched off of it's back legs, rocketing toward the creature with it's mouth agape, showing off the horrible fangs, foaming with pink and blue slime; a super horrendous bite. He took precisely one stride before he got there, and Renathan baited his breath. He knew that anything could go wrong, and he knew that the thundergug would be able to move itself soon...

Aster frowned as the Equillion charged. Boy, that was a mouth if he had ever seen one. It was probably poison, or acid, if he had to hazard a guess, but one couldn't really be sure, under the circumstances. Either way, it wasn't pleasant.
It also didn't change what they had to do, if they were going to try to turn this around. The ruckus of the battle's start wasn't over yet, though Grunty's method of going about it was a bit different. Give 'em thunder, Aster said over their mental link, though at this point maybe using the mental command was moot. There were some things about pit fights that were fairly predictable, and by this point, these opening salvos had to be almost codified, like a special, horrible sort of etiquette reserved for the occasion.
It wasn't a real battle until you've blown out your foe's eardrums, or something like that.

Thundergugs had notoriously tough skin; and Renathan knew it. However, Shy Guy has probably the most caustic and terrible mouth that Renathan even knew about. The stallion took a bite; not doing a whole lot of initial damage to the skin, but injecting his venom into the shoulder, and leaving popping, sizzling blue and pink goo at the wound. Undoubtedly, that would suck more as time went on. Renathan was about to call out another command when the thundering started; Renathan struggled to pay attention, closing one eye. So it was time for Shy Guy to be flinched into oblivion, now. Renathan swallowed, this was going to be interesting at least. The equillion stumbled back, momentarily surprised, the ground seeming to rumble around him, or maybe it was the sky? Shy Guy didn't seem to be able to tell, but he was, oddly enough, keeping his attention squarely on the thundergug... What would happen next?

Aster watched the Equillion bite down. The frown hadn't abated from his features, but otherwise he didn't look greatly disturbed. How is it? he asked.
Itches, was Grunty's reply. Maybe it was poison then, or venom. He had a passing familiarity with it, since his line of drakes were spade-tailed, but that sort of thing took time to work its effect. As a Thundergug, Grunty had no small amount of body mass for them to get through too. That meant that they were confident that they could buy the time for it to pay off.
Interesting.
Well, let's give 'em the good ol' welcome, Aster said. Bash.
Grunty swung his head back and forth, probably psyching himself off before taking off at a run at his opponent. Aster had given the command, but admittedly he didn't know if it would hit home. If buying time was the name of the game, this couldn't be a creature that went down in one hit... Unless the opponent was throwing the match, anyway.

Renathan was beginning to bank on Shy Guy somehow having some kind of sixth sense for danger; most creatures could dodge danger anymore, but he seemed to be able to pull an extra rabbit out of the hat; so to speak. The thundering occurred, and then Shy Guy immediately dodged what had to be the scariest thing Renathan had ever seen. The huge thundergug nearly turned him into a pan-cake, and he dodged out of the way as fast as anyone could have. Renathan's mouth was dry, but he called out the command immediately anyway. "Ritz it up!" His voice was very loud, and Shy Guy immediately jumped up, all of his legs locked like a pronking pronghorn; and he flashed his tail in the face of the thundergug, trying to surprise him. Renathan knew that as soon as this was done, he'd have to call out the next trick up their sleeve. He was already preparing to give the next command.

From his place in the stands, it was a little easier for Aster to see it coming, but even then, it wasn't possible to warn Grunty in time.
When Grunty flinched and averted his gaze, Aster sighed, but he could hardly blame the Thundergug for it. If he had been in that position, he would have done the same, with such a huge tail coming right for his face. And Aster had a sneaking suspicion that this wouldn't be the end of Grunty's trials for the fight either. If they meant to stall him long enough for the poison to be a worthwhile investment, they'd have to do it for a while longer than this.
For now, all he could do was watch, and wait for an opportunity. No sense in trying to give Grunty a command he couldn't follow. There was enough adding to the confusion as it was right now.
